Aivars Lembergs, Latvian oligarch sentenced to five years in jail for financial crimes
After 12 years of tense courtroom wrangling the Latvian Court has finally handed down its decision on Aivars LEMBERS' high-profile trial. This man is among the nation's most wealthy men, and is a well-known political figure in the populist camp. The man was also the former the mayor of Venspils in northwestern Latvia.
Lembergs was sentenced by Riga Regional Court to five-year imprison, confiscation of property, and an amount of fine that exceeded EUR20,000 on February 22. Lembergs was found guilty of a variety of charges including money laundering. But the judge acquitted him of the other charges in the lengthy complicated case.
Lembergs who is also head of For Latvian Ventspils has made a comparison of Lembergssentencing case to that of Aleksey Navalny, a Russian activist in the opposition.
While the judge read the verdict of the case, Lembergs requested for a break of just a few minutes which was granted to him. During the break, Lembergs had an informal conversation with his son and co-defendant Anrijs and then used the remainder of the time to provide remarks to reporters.

KULDĪGA EXCURSION

Es esmu Sena,
Last weekend we made a Kuldīga trip today i want share my experiences from my side. Kuldīga is 86 km away from Liepaja and it takes one an half hour get there. We start this excursion Sand Cave which Latvian name is this cave Riežupes smilšu alas. Total length of sand caves of Riezupe ir roughly 2 kilometers. Currently we can visit 460 meters of underground caves which has rare allurement.That is what we did when we reach there. It was so adorable and very exciting for me. This cave belong to special family but right now is just for tourism . The owner of caves is Inese Fokerota. Sand of the caves has been used to manufacture glass - sand is as whit and clean as sugar. In that time they took to sands Ventpils for manufacturing glass. Also temperature in the caves is eight degrees centigrade and its constant all year long. This cave very low ceiling and narrow. If you’ re too long its hard to walk in this different sand cave. Thank god i’m short it’s not that hard for me :) . We went inside with candles because of the caves darkness and we played little game in there also. We made a wish and we put out the candle search little stones in the ground. We searhed in the darkness this stones after that our guide make light our candles we check what kind stone we will found. When you found the round stones is meaning ‘money’ but if you found sharp stone meaning ‘happiness’. I’m lucky i found both stone. This year all the money and happiness will be with me. We walked through the other part of cave. Our tour guide ask to are you hands warm or cold because there is meaning also this question. Some of them has a warm hand some of them has a cold. According to belief if you have a cold hand you are a sinner but if you have a warm hand you are much more sinner rather than cold hands. We walked alone little bit far away our tour guide for get rid of our sins. Because this part of cave its a sinner cave. When we do this little walk, we are free of our sins now. After the purify session we went to the widest waterfall in whole Europe which name is Ventas Rumba. This was totaly amazing in my opinion. It was one of the most beautiful views we could see. We took a lot of picture of this remarkable view and we spent a lot times Kuldīga’s street. When the tour was finished, we looked over the waterfall from the top. This was last destination for us about exploring Kuldīga. If you have a chance to come here, you should definitely discover and see Kuldīga.
