AlderSky AU Part 3
Meanwhile, back with the 4 Lake Clans...
Things have gone to fox-dung to put it mildly.
Sparkpaw is devastated after Alderpaw is taken by the Twoleg during the Quest for SkyClan and Sandstorm’s death. This is exacerbated by the fact that no one seems to grieve over her brother - even Bramblestar does not seem too torn up, though Squirrelflight is taking it harder than her mate, but not as hard as Sparkpaw.
She also notes that no one in ShadowClan seems to care about Needlepaw, but all of Sparkpaw’s thoughts and emotions are occupied with her brother.
Leafpool is still sent to ShadowClan to be their temporary Medicine Cat and train a new one. A patrol is sent out to try and locate Alderpaw, and possibly Needlepaw and SkyClan.
A few days later the patrol returns unsuccessful. After talking with Squirrelflight, Bramblestar declares that Alderpaw is probably not gonna be able to be found. This sends Sparkpaw into a flurry of grief and anger, as - to her ears at least - her father has basically all but declared Alderpaw a lost cause and good as dead.
She has a hard time focusing on her training after this, causing Cherryfall to be frustrated with her.
Sparkpaw does not pay the rogues/the Kin much mind during this time, thinking of them as the other Clan’s problem since they have not attacked ThunderClan yet.
Everything pretty much progresses the same as canon for a bit:
Sparkpaw becomes a warrior - named Sparkpelt (like in canon).
Puddleshine becomes ShadowClan’s new Medicine Cat.
The Kin takes over ShadowClan.
Rowanstar, Tawnypelt and Tigerheart take refuge in ThunderClan camp.
With the three ShadowClan cats in ThunderClan camp, Sparkpelt is snappy. She thinks that Rowanstar is wimpy and is not doing a good job as a leader.
During this time, Sparkpelt bonds with Lilyheart’s kits, Honeyfur, Leafshade and Larksong, but she grows particularly close to Larksong.
The gentle tom is always willing to listen to the orange she-cat, but is always willing to give advice and give Sparkpelt a new perspective on the situation.
It is actually thanks to these talks with Larksong that gets Sparkpelt to begin to plan and be more active in bringing Darktail down.
Sparkpelt is the one who sees Darktail tell Onestar, then sees Onestar call the retreat. Sparkpelt is furious at Onestar at this and she agrees with Mistystar that it was Onestar and Rowanstar’s fault the battle was lost.
She brings this up with Larksong, who, after listening to Sparkpelt vent, suggests that Darktail told Onestar something that might be either a threat or some kind of blackmail. Sparkpelt considers this, but also wonders what on earth Darktail could have told Onestar that made him so afraid that the WindClan leader called a retreat?
Sparkpelt does have the dream/vision of Echosong dying. She sees her brother, who she calls Alderpaw not knowing that he has his full name. She does not think that this is a vision, though, as she is not a Medicine Cat, she thinks this is just a weird dream of her missing her brother.
Sparkpelt brings up her dream to her parents in private. Bramblestar and Squirrelflight both think that the dream is just Sparkpelt missing her brother, but Sparkpelt brings up she does not recognize the other cats. This does give Bramblestar and Squirrelflight pause, but Rowanstar comes into the den and asks to speak with just the ThunderClan leader and deputy. Sparkpelt rolls her eyes as she exits the den.
Sparkpelt notices Dovewing and Bumblestripe talking at Purdy’s vigil.
Sparkpelt can’t help but think about Alderpaw ever since she had the dream. She talks to Larksong about this, as well as Honeyfur, who reassures Sparkpelt that her feelings of anger over Alderpaw’s disappearance and that no one is doing anything are valid. She tells the orange she-cat that she would feel the same way if it was Larksong taken. This does make Sparkpelt feel better, but it also makes her even more determined to find her brother - but she acknowledges that they will have to deal with Darktail first.
Sparkpelt & Larksong begin to put together a few patrols to try and spy on the Kin. It shakes out to one patrol of Sparkpelt, Stormcloud, Cherryfall, Ivypool, Minnowtail, & Curlfeather and another of Larksong, Honeyfur, Fernsong, & Lizardtail. The plan is for Sparkpelt’s bigger patrol to be the more obvious scouts, while Larksong’s smaller patrol sneak into the camp to rescue any prisoners.
The reason that the cats do not tell the leaders, deputies or Medicine Cats is because they are too busy arguing amongst themselves about their next attack.
The plan works. While Sparkpelt and her patrol battle the Kin, Larksong’s patrol manages to get The ShadowClan elders, Oakfur & Ratscar, ShadowClan queen, Snowbird, and her 3 kits, Gullkit, Frondkit & Conekit, and the RiverClan prisoners, Brackenpelt, Reedwhisker, Mintfur, & Icewing.
The leaders are amazed when the patrols return with the freed cats.
It is noted that Fernsong helped the tired and weakened Snowbird with her 3 kits.
Bramblestar asked Sparkpelt what happened and Sparkpelt explained that Bramblestar and the other leaders were just standing around doing nothing. Bramblestar tries to say that that is not what they were doing - but that pushes Sparkpelt over the edge. She snaps at Bramblestar that he has done nothing. He did little to find Alderpaw - his own son and a Medicine Cat apprentice - and he has let Darktail run rampant and all he and the other leaders have done is talk and lose battles.
Larksong interferes. He tells Bramblestar, a bit more calmly, that Sparkpelt is not wrong. He calls Bramblestar and the other leaders out on how poorly they have handled the situation, pointing each leader out on what each did wrong. He repeats Sparkpelt’s points about Bramblestar, before turning to Rowanstar and telling him that his poor leadership led to the Kin infestation in the first place. He does tell Mistystar that she has not done much faults - that she is honestly handling everything the best she could. But that does not mean that she is also guilty of inaction. He then points out that it was Onestar’s hasty retreat that led to them losing the recent battle.
The leaders are shocked, but ultimately humbled. They then agree to go to WindClan and figure out an actual plan of attack.
A patrol of Bramblestar, Sparkpelt, Larksong, Tigerheart, Dovewing, and Mistystar goes to WindClan to either talk or drag an explanation and plan out of Onestar. Onestar agrees to go with them back to ThunderClan camp to explain and plan, but on the condition that all of WindClan come so that no cat is left unprotected. They all agree.
When they get back to Thunderclan camp, Onestar explains to the leaders, deputies and a few cats (Sparkpelt, Larksong & Dovewing), that Darktail is his son and that he is on his last life. Sparkpelt wants to snap at him for his cowardliness, but Larksong interview, telling Onestar that he inadvertently causes a lot of suffering for the Clans - and that now is the time to make it right. Onestar hears this, and for the first time in a while, a fire lights within his eyes.

Vision of Shadows being Blossom/Owl Heavy?
I'm gonna be honest with you guys every single arc of the series is Starless outlined except for VoS.
I HATE VoS okay, I think its by far the worst arc by a lot. So I didn't really care. But now that we're getting blanks filled in like Darktail's past and some of the kin's aftermath I was thinking maybe that chapter could focus on Blossom and Owl helping their wayward clanmates.
I'm still thinking about it. Because half of the plot rn is literally Darktail coming to the dark forest and hitting on Blossomfeather which while fun cannot support an entire chapter of a comic lol

RIP me I guess for reading the Vision of Shadows and believing Alderheart should be a medicine cat actually. He’s my all time favorite and looking him up had led to me to see a lot of the same opinions of him being a warrior. Like most of the fandom agrees with that notion. But I never did. I never once wanted that.
And it’s not because I don’t want him to be happy. I think he fits well into the medicine cat role and actually likes it. He didn’t dwell on it as much as Jayfeather, that’s for sure. I’m not sure, based on his morals, that he would even like to be a warrior. He’s far too compassionate to want to fight over a stupid border dispute, and he even rants about how leaders only care about territories.
I know people didn’t like that he became a medicine cat because he’s anxious and fails at his warrior apprenticeship. But I don’t feel like I have to remind you that he didn’t become a medicine cat because he was bad, he did because of his connection to StarClan. And I get the whole “Firestar was connected to StarClan” And there’s an obvious difference between Spottedleaf talking to Firestar and a random kit joining in with the shared moonpool prophecy. I know people don’t like to accept this because of Mothwing and our own hate towards their religion, but it’s widely accepted that being that close to StarClan is half of the job. I’m not trying to discredit Mothwing, but I am trying to point out how the cult tends to work.
I want a warrior with a strong connection to StarClan as well, but sharing dreams with medicine cats that are at the moonpool is not one of those cats!
And his anxiety and slow learning never fully stopped when he switched. He still messed up with herbs. And I don’t think it’s fair to say the medicine cat job is some thing that’s bad, and shouldn’t be an option if a cat wants to be happy.
Not to mention Alderheart genuinely believed that the only reason he was sent to the medicine den is exactly what the fandom says. But in the same book, the first VoS book, he learns it was because he would make a good medicine cat, and his opinion changes. He isn’t longing for the life he wished he has like Jayfeather did when he was an apprentice. The closest thing we got to that was when he was devastated Sandstorm died and got jealous of Sparkpelt when she became a warrior.
Based on my opinion, as a very emotional and anxious person, someone who related deeply to Alderheart in opinions and actions, I think he should be a medicine cat. I don’t think we should treat being a warrior as the height of clan society. And I think, and I cannot stress this enough, that changing your life goals to fit yourself is not a bad thing!
I think at the end of the day, fuck Bramblestar for not taking Alderheart seriously and well as never doing anything and making his son feel he isn’t good enough. I do think Alderheart could’ve made it as a warrior but I don’t think it would’ve worked well with his character.

warrior cats lgbt headcanons
I'm bored so here's my lgbt headcanons of every warrior cats protagonist!! also some other cats who i think are important in the first arc bc of how few protags we get
Prophecies Begin
Firestar : pansexual, he/they, cis Greystripe : bisexual (strong female pref), he/him, cis Ravenpaw : Gay, he/him but tries out bug/bugs, unlabelled gender
New Prophecy
Squirrelflight : queer, she/he, might be a trans man if she thought about it long enough Brambleclaw : the only one that i think is cishet. uncertain whether he is cishetallo or not though, he might be asexual spectrum Tawnypelt : t4t queer, she/it, intersex and transfem Feathertail : asexual lithoromantic lesbian, she/ae/bright, girlflux Stormfur : unlabelled, any pronouns (he/him pref), cis man Crowfeather : Trixic, they/them, nonbinary Leafpool : Bisexual, she/her, cis Power of Three
Lionblaze : cishetallo Hollyleaf : asexual greyromantic lesbian, she/they, demi-girl Jayfeather : oriented aroace gay, star/they/he, doesn't care to think about his gender but uses moonguardian, moonboy and starryghostic.
Omen of the Stars
Dovewing : Omnisexual (male pref) and probably aroace spectrum but she is scared of acknowledging that, she/her, cis Ivypool : Sapphic demiromantic, she/it/claw, nonbinary girl Flametail (he counts <3) : Aroace, he/him, trans man Vision of Shadows
Alderheart : Pansexual, he/him, cis Needletail : Heterosexual? aromantic, she/her, transmasc nonbinary girl Twigbranch : Asexual unlabelled, they/she, gender questioning Violetshine : Lesbian, she/ze, trans girl

Dawn of the Clans Grey Wing : Asexual aromantic, he/they, cis Clear Sky : Heterosexual, he/him, trans man but he's probably the sort of trans man who tells other trans people that they aren't valid because they present differently Thunder : I wish I cared about thunder enough to have thoughts on him but he is the beigest character i have ever read about maybe only second to lionblaze i dont care about him his girlfriend fucked his dad why did she do that he creates the most boring clan ever and does literally nothing grey wing and clear sky are so interesting then you have to read a whole book about this man and i actually can't remember anything except from his girlfriend who deserves so much better than him why is he here he's so boring River Ripple (he's a protag to me) : Aromantic asexual, any pronouns, either genderfluid or agender
Other random characters i want to share my headcanons for because I feel particularly strongly about them
Rowanstar : Queer, he/him, trans man (obviously) Puddleshine : Demisexual homoromantic, xe/xem but they/them is okay, nonbinary Tall Shadow : Lesbian, he/she, views lesbian as her gender identity in a lot of ways Mousefur : Aromantic asexual, she/her, dont know about her gender Runningwind : Aromantic asexual, they/he, demiboy Redtail : Gay, he/him, trans man Sol : Queer, any pronouns, trans masc pangender Fallen Leaves : Sapphic, he/him, demigender Sleekwhisker : Lesbian, she/her, trans and she won't clarify in what way Mothwing : Lesbian, she/her, trans woman Cinderheart : Bisexual, she/they, girl to the left Cinderpelt : Bisexual, they/she, girl to the right Snowfur : Gay, he/him, trans man. PLEASE someone appreciate trans man snowfur he's so important to me Blackstar : Gay (bear), he/him, cis Fernsong : Going through every single gender and sexuality crisis everyday. Ended up settling on abrosexual, pronoun fluid and genderfluid but even then that might not stick. Ivypool somehow always knows what pronouns to use even if Fernsong hasn't told her yet Tallstar : Gay, he/wind, cis Jake : Pansexual, he/him and SO many neopronouns, cis Barley : Gay, he/him, trans man Darkstripe : the most toxic gay man you have ever met Hawkfrost : the second most toxic gay man you have ever met
this is SO many oh my god. i was planning to do a short list and now there's so many anyway i could go on for longer

Needlekit
Tumblr media
I needed to just draw something cute and I needed to design her for an RP so here's little Needlekit!
I imagine she puts ants in the elder's nests and steals things from the medicine den and eats them. Then wonders why she has a bellyache later.

Since a couple people have asked, since I constantly bash on WC’s writing, how I’d actually rank the series arcs, I’ll just get it done now from best to worst.
Best:
The Prophecies Begin - It’s the most laid out arc in terms of a story, and it reads a lot easier since it focuses on one central protagonist. I like it.
Power of Three: I really like the protagonists in this (except Lionblaze), and I do commend the arc for ending on a cliffhanger. Plus, I’m a sucker for Sol (I love my little lion maned man)
Dawn of the Clans: It really irks me sometimes how this arc isn't as appreciated as the rest. It has a lot of decent characters and both Grey Wing and Clear Sky are among my personal faves. It took a few risks and I commend it for that, despite how it kind of fell off the edge in the last few books.
The New Prophecy: I’ll admit the first half of the series is just too much walking, and there really should have been better planning when it came to the central protagonist of each book, but I guess I’m a softie for the whole road trip, found family narrative. Unfortunately the second half of the series falls into pointless drama, Bramble being an unlikable twat (back when that was a shock), and Hawkfrost being criminally underdeveloped.
Omen of The Stars: I like the second half of the series, and I can’t stand the first half. Ivypool always came across as far too selfish and mean spirited for me to care about her, and Dovewing just never seemed interesting enough for me to care about her issues. The final battle is kinda cool but still feels a little anticlimactic.
The Broken Code: I hate this arc. I really fucking hate this arc. I may be controversial here, but I honestly don’t really care about the protagonist’s. I never really got into Rootspring, Bristlefrost was getting better for the first three books but devolved as she entered the forced romance arc, and Shadowsight (while I do like him) his story became very repetitive after a while. Place them with a story FULL of plot conveniences, and Starclan once again refusing to take any damn blame for being the idiots they are, I just found this arc extremely frustrating and annoying. If there is anything I hate more in fiction, its writers pulling random powers out of thin air and REFUSING TO EXPLAIN WHERE THEY CAME FROM! That is not good writing! That is the laziest form of improv! This is the most forced arc out of all the books!
Vision of Shadows: As bad as The Broken Code was, at least its batshit story was entertaining now and again. This arc does not even have that distinction. The protags were all underdeveloped as hell - Needletail being the best but never getting enough time to establish herself. The story was incredibly lacking in well... STORY! Nothing happens within reason in this arc, it all just kind of appears out of nowhere. The only thing I liked about this arc was Darktail, but he is the most underdeveloped villain of them all (and don’t tell me his backstory with Onestar was actually important, it came out of nowhere and didn’t serve anything but to ask more damn questions). It’s just a boring, boring plot.
And there you have it, do you agree, do you disagree, like or hate whatever you want, thanks for reading.

For me, Warrior Cats is the fandom that I haven't consumed content from in YEARS. I unsubscribed from all of the YouTube creators because their Warriors-centered content simply didn't interest me anymore. The books sit dusty on my shelf, new releases never bought, because I've surpassed the time when the knowledge of that world consumed me. But, when the news hits the internet- THAT news: The last Warrior Cats book. You KNOW I will be there the day of its release, reading it, and sobbing.
