You know what is an absolute shame, that queen of tears had all the potential to be so so great. All it would have taken was a little more writing comprehension and understanding that a story doesn't need 50 something plot points, everyone would have tuned in for just baekhong and them navigating the complexities of marriage, dealing with their families, and dealing with the potential loss of life, and the way two people can be so destined for each other, fine they could have had villains but the villain didn't need to be a one dimensional character that had such plot armour throughout the show to the point that the main female character who has such intellect in all other moments somehow loses it around him just so we can entertain mediocre moments of ridiculousness, at the very least focus could have been placed on one villain, instead we have some deranged execution of mommy/son issues that had such potential but was just wasted and it's the way this drama feels like it's insulting my intellect that really just gets to me.

With that said, I still think baekhong is precious and that no drama has had characters like them before but I really think that it isn't even the writing anymore, it's that soohyun and jiwon have given this story their all and watching them has been a treat because they bring out the best parts of baekhong while the writer runs around in circles.

i really appreciate how in heartstopper s2 they highlighted the group’s apathy and general disregard toward isaac and his life, and only showed interest when they thought he finally had a romantic relationship. im glad they showed his frustration with only being seen as valid or worth the time when they thought he was allo, or “not broken”. it’s an underrepresented side of asexuality and aromanticism where your friends are just completely uninvested in your life because their priority is romance, to the point that they neglect you until you seem normal to them. idk it was just really pivotal for his character arc and i felt seen. ace and aro journeys are so minimized i don’t think non-aspecs even realize how isolating simply being aspec is. anywayy

#even tara and darcy were more present in their lives despite going to a different school #im kind of outgrowing heartstopper just because im not a teenager anymore and i can’t really relate to the teen romance thing #but this arc was worth watching it all the way through #even if i had to suffer through the high school drama plot

i just looked at the stranger things tag hoping to see more gifs of the iconic scenes like joyce putting the lights up in s1 or the running up that hill scene and literally every single post is about steve

#listen hes a great character i am NOT one of those weird bylers that think hes overrated I LOVE HIM #but theres so much to this show and i think so much of the fandom only care about the characters #even bylers like the amount of people who said they stopped watching the moment mike said he loves el is a crime #and i got an anon one time saying that they couldnt get into dark bc they werent attatched to any characters??? ok but THE PLOT!!!!??#i watch shows for plot and yes loveable characters are extremely important too but i care more about what happens than one character or shi #at least for more drama shows like this if its a sitcom then yeah good characters are probably the most important #stranger things

not a huge fallout enjoyer but I like how the show is shot and graded with a distinctly early aughts feel. No sweeping location filters or flattened midtones and the blacks are rich-black and the whites are bright-white and everything reads and pops off the screen and sometimes a meticulous prop or makeup application will be tastefully shrouded in motivated shadow instead of forcefully blasted with an even softbox. on the flipside though todd appears to have named the stinky cowboy after himself, so like, it's a tossup

#the thesis of this deranged universe still eludes me but i appreciate how the show at least tries to steep it in character drama somewhat #it really deflates at the end there where it should coalesce with more energy but overall it was well constructed #plot construction yeah that's the word. that was done well #and the characters are not just superficially quirky they are genuinely flawed and that's cute to see. room to grow!#and listen a surprise matt berry cameo is never not winning points from me #not a bad effort but gotta go back to watching the bear and experience pure anxiety through their shot designs #fallout spoilers #text

i didnt watch unknown as it was airing bc i knew it would consume me so i decided to binge it all today. i was correct. it has consumed me.

#i am so unwell #and the thing is there is no specific moment or ep i can point to or rewatch to get out out of my system #there is something about the all consuming atmosphere of the show that’s so dense and heavy it’s impossible to escape it I don’t know how #and i find it incredible how they managed to established that atmosphere and built it so well and reached these peaks of emotion that you’d #think would break all that tension but it just returns 10-fold #like this is how you do storytelling this is how you plot a 12 episode drama #bc you get the peak in ep 6 that is the crux of the story getting revealed but you’re only halfway #there’s still so much story to go and they show all of it #they show that this is a thing that takes time and thought and it perfectly demonstrates how stuck in his ways wei qian is #and i find it incredible how both the actors were able to convey the passing of time and their growing up through their performance you can #really feel how wei yuan matures and how what’s perceived as this childish crush or obsession never leaves bc it was never that it was #always more serious and concrete but in his maturity he can show that #and there’s something so crushing about watching wei qian i swear i choked up so many times watching this show bc they both got to me so bad #but wei qian’s story and his outlook on life is so universal and so true to that older brother role that so many people have #i am rambling so bad i just wanna like… exist in the vibe of this show forever #bc the heaviness of it makes you feel the weight lift in the moments of joy it’s beautiful #unknown
