One of my pet peeves is people who claim that Will’s feelings for Mike were added in as fanservice for byler shippers. As someone who has been a fan of the show for many years, I can assure you that byler was never this popular until they explicitly introduced it in s4. It still had an active fanbase in the earlier seasons - mostly made of people who were into the analyst side of the fandom and recognised the seeds they were planting from early on in the show - but it was nowhere near as popular as mlvn was in that era, and there was no way you could talk about it in the main fandom spaces without instantly being shot down.

It’s honestly disrespectful to the story the writers are telling to imply that they only added in this layered and complex plot line to appease a portion of shippers, especially when that demographic wasn’t even large enough for that to seem like a profitable choice at the time. If they really just wanted to “appease mlm shippers,” then they would have made harringrove canon, because that was the most popular mlm ship at the time.

Byler wasn’t put into the show because it was popular, it became popular because it was put into the show. Those who like the pairing and theorise about their future in s5 are simply picking up what the writers are putting down.

the horrifying implications of Cinderpelt as a pawn of Starclan- trying everything she can to unsuccessfully stop her apprentice from leaving because she's terrified of the internalised idea of "failing" her clan and her job due to her impending death, while unaware that the entire Crowpool situation is intentional by Starclan for their own benefit to initiate the Power of Three prophecy and that her death in itself is to be Leafpool's motivation to stay- the idea that the stars, the ancestors and family and friends she devoted her life to always meant for her to die young and hopeless and were willing to manipulate her emotionally for the best outcome for them- is alone a piece of her character that's infinitely more heartwrenching and tragic and interesting than "she actually had a crush on Firestar and she's sad she can't date him :((" and I'm so mad that the latter is her primary legacy instead of any interpretations of her as a character that go beyond boring forbidden romance #17 that was barely even implied to begin with

Like the thing that gets me about the end of CC, before even Zack's death, is just how Zack is barely hanging by a thread at this point. Everything keeps going wrong for him and his world keeps collapsing and he's genuinely growing weary about just how much life keeps throwing at him, but he's always been the optimist, the happy guy who bright up the room just by being here, and it becomes harder in harder to find a reason to still being that

but when he's around Cloud, he is cheerful. Like maybe, just maybe, if he makes it seems like everything is fine, that everything will be easy, easier than how it feels on his shoulders, then maybe Cloud will wake up.

And like i find extremely jarring when playing CC how Zack is constantly playing up being cheerful with Cloud while the moment he steps away from Cloud he looks like he's about to break. but he carries on, for Cloud's sake, if nothing else.

And there. in the one timeline where Zack survives. The first thing he does is trying to make the situation a lighthearted one for Cloud's sake.

Part of me still can’t believe that DC has now put out multiple annual Pride books.

Like in the 90s the content we got was things like Dini drawing Harley/Ivy as fanservice (for himself) and like…Bea and Tora being besties in a comic together.

Then it was the early 2000s and still most of what we got was artist fanservice and very deep friendships and a bunch of referential jokes.

And by 2011 we COULD have lesbians (hello Kate Kane, Maggie Sawyer, Renée Montoya, etc) but you know, they’re not allowed to be happy. Like yay, open non-cishets on page (given this is also the era of Alysia Yeoh) but also editorial is only allowing this under strict conditions.

And now it’s the 2020s and writers are being allowed to go “you know how so and so has read as a very repressed queer for years? They are. Surprise!” and put more than a Token Non Straight person/couple in a book. (But also. We are still terminally afflicted with fanservice of best friends, and cmon at this point for some of these pairs I’m like ‘put up or shut up and let them be best friends’)

#yes it’s all about the women here #the guys had a similar progression but it’s even more noticeable with the women #as we started out only allowed to have it as fanservice for the male gaze #it’s hard to overstate how much DC lesbian content in the 90s was Dini writing that shit for himself #in a way that was very clearly ‘so you’re into that huh’

To be fair as a cat owner who grew up with them, the sounds are very accurate!! Cats typically ‘meow’ mostly around humans because of the similarities of the sound to babies crying, making it hard to ignore them. Chirping is usually done when around prey, or when feeling particularly playful, but that depends on the cat. It’s kinda a joke among my family that if a cat doesn’t often meow at you, it’s because it sees you as a cat.

Also, very thankful he didn’t meow honestly I would have been embarrassed. There should be a age gap on going “Nyah” imo
