Viki és a kék-rózsaszín sál Egy egész sorozat kendőt szőtt ajándékba Viki, melynek egyik darabjához az égkék felvetést választotta. Zöldeskék-rózsaszín merino-selyem fonalat hozott magával aminek olyan a festése, hogy szövés közben vándorol a szín benne. De a szövet szélességétől függően mindig kicsit másként teszi, egész nap izgalmas volt nézni, milyen foltokat sikerül alakítani vele. Épp ezért a mintázást nem akarta túlzásba vinni Viki, a sál bordűrjébe egy-egy sor azsúrt és hamis rozmaringot csempészett, itt-ott selyem szalagokat húzott a szövésébe. Középre egy takácsmintát illesztett, de nem akarta, hogy túl határozott legyen, ezért a műhely készletéből egy kék mohair fonalat keresett hozzá, ami sejtelmessé teszi a vonalakat. Pont olyan lett, ahogy elképzelte! A kész sál vidám, mégis elegáns, a színek játéka megunhatatlan és apró részletek teszik izgalmassá. While I was working on my office, I uncovered the yarn wall and brought out a bunch of artwork from an art exhibit of mine from eight or nine years ago. It was such a great show and I loved that exhibit with dozens of my small art quilts all stretched over canvas squares of various sizes. Gosh that was a great show! ⚜️ I never had a great place to hang all those amazing small square quilts. Sure, I’ve hung them in pairs here and there. But never “en masse” like they were at the exhibition. That’s how they really speak. Maybe that will happen one day. ⚜️ I hung some of them here and mixed in some other artwork as well. I really really love this part of the room even more now that a few of them are mixed in with the yarn! The color is glorious and rich and it’s absolutely a #happyplace for me!! Mitchell Denburg Collection “My immigrant grandparents always did something to give back. The world needs more positivity.” - Mitchell Denburg, Founder of the ‘Mitchell Denburg Collection’. Back in 1977 a 22-year-old photographer named Mitchell Denburg touched down in the extravagantly baroque Guatemalan city of Antigua and started snapping. Spanish Colonial cathedrals scarred from the 1773 earthquake, sunburned coffee-plantation labourers, come-hither ladies of the night—all caught the vacationing American’s wondering eye. A year later, still under Antigua’s spell, he came back setting up a business “taking portraits of locals for six dollars each and photographing events like baptisms and weddings.” The local serapes, or wool blankets, captivated Denburg too. Then a daydream suddenly kicked in: Why not start a weaving studio that would improve its workers’ standard of living while catapulting a Guatemalan tradition out of the country’s artesania shops and into international living rooms? The entrepreneurs altruistic plan also included building and staffing a bilingual school for the artisans’ children. Adri legújabb törölközője A törölköző szerelem tovább tart Adrinál! Ezúttal egy hosszan átmenetes pamut-viszkóz csomaggal érkezett. Ezeknél a fonalaknál érdemes előre gondolkodni, összeválogatni a színeket és sorrendben felorsózni. Reggel az asztalon ilyenkor csodás színkavalkád sorakozik :) Az alapos előkészítés után szép egyenletesen alakulnak az átmenetek és "csak dobálni" kell a vetélőt 😀 Ezért Adrinak volt kapacitása egy bonyolultabb, figyelős méhsejt mintát lábítani. Napközben többször körbeálltuk csodálni a vibráló színeket és látványos mintát! Estére ismét egy hatalmas, kiváló minőségben megszőtt törölközővel lett Adri gazdagabb. I finally reached the end of the pickup warp on the #macomberloom, so I started moving it up into the weaving loft. I took off the harnesses, beater, cloth beam, footrest, and both warp beams. Hopefully my daughter & I can move the frame that’s left. I also replaced the non-locking door handle to the loft with a keypad lock. So last week something really terrible happen in my life. Somebody broke into my lovely little studio. It was heartbreaking to walk up the steps and see that my door had been forced open. My entire space was rummaged through and a large amount of my raw materials were taken. I am sad, angry and am feeling a little defeated. But I guess I just need to keep moving forward. And install video cameras and an alarm system in my new space...
