Like I don’t ship Coronabeth and Ianthe (mostly because I personally don’t think Ianthe can have a healthy relationship without a crazy amount of therapy and like at least 200K words put in) but it’s kinda a disservice to straight up ignore that there are very clear incest vibes.

It’s an important part of their relationship. The love between the two of them has become this massive twisted Thing that’s full of pride and control. Ianthe is incredibly selfish and sees Coronabeth as an extension of herself, which is made even easier because they’re literally twins. So of course they have incest vibes- Ianthe barely sees Coronabeth as her own person.

There have been times where I wished we were able to go about with how Quill reacted without Gamora in his life for the first couple weeks/months after being brought back from dust. I know Thor: love and thunder gives us a touch about how his look is different, he seems really exhausted in that film and the words he says to Thor are very.. heartbreaking. (I barely watched that film as I couldn’t get through it after the Guardians were gone, that movie is God Awful) I feel like part of this want is because we never really get to see Quill mourn Gamora aside from the scene where Thor joins the guardians and Quill’s staring at her and a small touch of it in V3 (I would rant about this if I wasn’t exhausted myself, right now) I’m just wishing this was handled better in the other films, especially in V3.

okay I woke up a lot earlier than I should have for some reason, so I’m going to talk about/clarify some things about the Darkling AU if that’s okay - I probably should have posted this before the writing so that people had more context for that, but here it is anyway

The basic premise of this AU is that the time Aria spends in the realm of darkness between the Keyblade War happening and reuniting with Clio is too much for the heart of her already-injured vessel to take, leading to it being fully consumed by darkness. This causes her to fall to darkness even more than she already had, and subsequently turn into a Darkling.

Despite how monstrous her new appearance is, especially by comparison to how she was before the war, I want to stress that Aria still retains her mind and sense of self - things are just slightly warped. In the last piece of writing I posted, I based the way she speaks on the brain fog I get when I’m in a lot of pain. The reason she seemed so hostile before speaking is because she couldn’t see through Clio’s regalia, so she assumed she was about to be attacked and destroyed by a different Keyblade wielder.

After being brought to Daybreak Town, Aria spends most of her time hiding in Clio’s room to begin with so that nobody finds out about her, as most Keyblade wielders would not be as kind as Clio in letting her live. I think she would probably get her clothes fixed to try and blend in a bit more, though reintroducing her to other people would always be a tense process in case they wanted to destroy her. She also gets the flower back that she had given to Clio before the war, and that also helps her feel more like herself and look less dangerous ^-^

Aria loses the ability to wield a Keyblade of her own in this AU, but that definitely doesn’t stop her being powerful in combat. Other Heartless are not likely to attack her on sight, so she often has an advantage in striking first, and she definitely makes for a fierce fighter.

Overall, this AU doesn’t necessarily have a ton of story other than what I wrote in the writing, but I’m still fond of it anyway (and there’s definitely scope for thinking of more concepts and lore for it!) The idea of becoming even more monstrous than before, yet still loving and being loved just as much as before becoming that way, is just something I really like the idea of, and it’s also fun to think of things like getting to be super protective of Clio and help her out wherever possible ^-^

In the game, Darklings look like the picture below, which I should probably put under a readmore now that I think about it. Aria doesn’t completely look like this because she retained more of her previous self than most others, and the reason for this is that she was already a Heartless (and has been the whole time) when this transformation occurred.

They’re just fun little guys ^-^ they can talk, which is very rare for Heartless, and I really hope they somehow show up again in other games somehow. A lot of KHUX fans have written about them, and characters becoming them, really fantastically as well.

Wolfwood, without wasting a second, leans in and kisses him and indulges by pressing deeper, eliciting a small noise of surprise from Vash.

Wolfwood moves away from Vash first and with a smile, asks, "What else?" Vash tugs on Wolfwood's left sleeve, wordlessly budging Wolfwood to give him his hand that was still behind his back. In the next panel, Vash utters, "Hold me..?" He's holding Wolfwood's left hand with his own while his right hand is reaching for his waist. Wolfwood complies, moving his left hand to Vash's shoulder and his right hand continues to touch Vash's cheek. Wolfwood asks again, "What else?"

More comfortable now, Vash leans in to kiss Wolfwood. Wolfwood catches him immediately, pressing his thumb against Vash's lips to stop him before demanding, "Hey. Ask." Vash looks back in surprise and Wolfwood meets his eye with a quiet, insistent look. They're quiet for a moment before Vash leans in again and curtly requests, "Kiss. Me." Wolfwood says "Good", smiling as he lifts his hand away, and meets Vash's lips. In the next shot, Wolfwood had adjusted his position, sitting on Vash's thigh. The hand that was once on Vash's cheek has moved its way to Vash's nape, pushing away the collar of his jacket with his pinky. His other hand continues to grip on Vash's shoulder. Still kissing, Wolfwood asks again, "What else?"

In the next shot, Vash is starting to turn, moving Wolfwood with him. Vash asks, "Let me on top of you?" Wolfwood says, "Mhm" before asking again, "What else?" The next panel shows a close look of Vash's face. He's looking down, flushed and shy just as he had been at the beginning, but now, more decisive. Vash asks, "Wolfwood... Let me have you..?" A panel of Wolfwood taking Vash's hand into his, pulling it towards his chest. The next panel shows Wolfwood lying down where Vash had laid him. Vash's hand is on Wolfwood's chest, covering the cross of his rosary while Wolfwood's hand lingers against his, loosely pressing Vash's hand in place. He looks up at Vash with a shy smile of his own, flushed cheeks. He says, "All yours."

A panel shows a close up of Vash's tender gaze before he leans down to be closer to Wolfwood. The final shot is a front view of their positions, Vash's face turned away from the viewer; Vash is leaning over Wolfwood who's lying down with his right leg draped over Vash's legs. [ID: A follow up bonus comic in a looser, sketchier style. They're laying comfortably in bed when Vash asks, "What was that earlier?" referecing to the start of the previous comic. Wolfwood glances away and says, "To get you used to it. Asking. And getting what you ask for. Since you're alwasy hesitant about it." Vash's eyes widen, tight lipped. Wolfwood continues, "Knowing you, it'll be a tough habit to break..." When he says this, Vash can't help but laugh, unable to deny it. Wolfwood slowly brings a hand to Vash's cheek and continues to say, "So I'll keep trying -- whatever ways I can... to get it through your thick skull." Vash takes Wolfwood's hand with his, kissing the the palm gently. Wolfwood's eyes soften and holding onto Vash's cheek, he leans in to try for a kiss. Vash says, "Hey..." before stopping Wolfwood's lips with the back of his hand, a smug look on his face, "Ask." Wolfwood's embarrassed and with little irritation, asks, "Really?" Vash smiles, saying, "You're in need of practice too." They pause for a moment, Wolfwood looking contemplatively, before he's leaning in again, asking, "May I please kiss you?" Vash looks him in the eyes and says, "Yes." The comic ends with a "chu", indicating an off-panel kiss. End ID]

i’ve always kind of assumed that lo and li are azulon’s younger twin sisters and that’s why they were foisted off on azula, because she’s also a younger sister to the crown prince. but the fact that we never actually see them firebend is strange, because it implies either that nonbenders are instructing one of the greatest firebenders in the world, or that they are firebenders who simply do not firebend. and i think that the latter is more interesting, because it reflects how their position as elderly women devalues any firepower they might provide to the empire, passive and subdued even as they train ozai’s favorite weapon.

they are the ones to most overtly illustrate azula’s precarious relationship to femininity, after all. for example, noting the position of her hair after she successfully lightningbends in “the avatar state,” or emphasizing azula’s beauty when they introduce her in “the awakening.” and it’s clear that azula doesn’t really like them, dismisses and avoids them whenever she gets the chance. she can’t even tell them apart. their very existence is almost a humiliation. a reminder to azula that this is who she is destined to become once she lives past her usefulness. not the imperious azulon, her namesake, raised above on a fiery dais, but his sisters, insignificant and functionally powerless.

so of course “almost isn’t good enough,” of course “one hair out of place” is a failure. the only way azula can prove her worth to the empire she has devoted her entire self to in a way that matters is, perhaps, by being perfect, by being better and stronger than the discarded women who came before her. but that, too, is a delusion, that any amount of excellence will reward her in a way that compensates for the erosion of her very humanity. and yet, it’s all she has to cling to. so she gives it her all to excel within a system that will never really care about her because she has deliberately been made incapable of imagining an alternative. of simply recognizing the system for the failure that it is, conceptualizing a world beyond the bars of her gilded cage, and leaving.

I’ve mentioned this elsewhere but it feels relevant again in light of the most recent episode. Something that’s really fascinating to me about Orym’s grief in comparison to the rest of the hells’ grief is that his is the youngest/most fresh and because of that tends to be the most volatile when it is triggered (aside from FCG, who was two and obviously The Most volatile when triggered.)

As in: prior to the attack on Zephrah, Orym was leading a normal, happy, casual life! with family who loved him and still do! Grief was something that was inflicted upon him via Ludinus’ machinations, whereas with characters like Imogen or Ashton, grief has been the background tapestry of their entire lives. And I think that shows in how the rest of them are largely able to, if not see past completely (Imogen/Laudna/Chetney) then at least temper/direct their vitriol or grief (Ashton/Fearne/Chetney again) to where it is most effective. (There is a glaring reason, for example, that Imogen scolded Orym for the way he reacted to Liliana and not Ashton. Because Ashton’s anger was directed in a way that was ultimately protective of Imogen—most effective—and Orym’s was founded solely in his personal grief.)

He wants Imogen to have her mom and he wants Lilliana to be salvageable for Imogen because he loves Imogen. But his love for the people in his present actively and consistently tend to conflict with the love he has for the people in his past. They are in a constant battle and Orym—he cannot fathom losing either of them.

(Or, to that point, recognize that allowing empathy to take root in him for the enemy isn't losing one of them.)

It is deeply poignant, then, that Orym’s grief is symbolized by both a sword and shield. It is something he wields as a blade when he feels his philosophy being threatened by certain conversational threads (as he believes it is one of the only things he has left of Will and Derrig, and is therefore desperately clinging onto with both bloody hands even if it makes him, occasionally, a hypocrite), but also something he can use in defense of the people he presently loves—if that provocative, blade-grief side of him does not push them—or himself—away first.

(it won’t—he is as loved by the hells as he loves them. he just needs to—as laudna so beautifully said—say and hear it more often.)

In English, on the night of day 3, Artemy can mention to Lara that he "Served as a medic for a while", refering to his brief military service.

He doesn't say "medic", or even "combat medic" in Russian. He uses the word Фельдшер, or Feldsher, which is a very specific thing.

A Feldsher is (or rather was) a mid-level (that is, without university education) medical practitioner. They don't have the same authority as doctors, but can perform certain operations or diagnostics. Historically, it was a non-combative position in the Russian Army and fleet. They even made a labor union in 1905!

It gives historical context to the entire setting, because Feldshers are mostly assossiated with the late 19th to early 20th century - the term is anachronistic (I guess that's why it was omitted in English) Edit: The term is still generally used in Russia, as pointed out in the comments, though the current and historical meaning are slightly different. We still have some Feldshers in Poland, as the only country in the EU where that position is legally recognized.

It also makes so much sense, given Artemy's situation - he never finished university but did have some prior knowlegde, so it would be reasonable for him to serve, as it was a common practice back then.
