ok i dont want to maintag but just finished s4 of tdp and is it just me or was it kind of wack??? (spoilers in tags)

#like i love terry. i thought viren was pretty good. ezran was great and soren was pretty good too #but everyone else just like???? felt completely ooff #which is so weird bc i feel like this show usually has such a pulse on these characters #and as someone who didnt read any of the tie in novels i felt completely lost re: rayla and callum which is. wack. #the last ep or 2 also lost me. so much deus ex machina for no reason. #why is there a lemur. #the season is called the mystery of aaravos and yet hes barely in it #and it feels like there is hardly any payoff for anything #also i feel like they did claudia so dirty like she was such a compelling character so why did her motivations change to be completely wack #in that scene with soren #i liked the amaya and janai plot but it felt so disconnected from everything #idk man i havent rewatched it in a while but s1-3 were just. good. tight writing and characters. the humor pretty much always fell flat #but thats finr #but like. ????? #wack. #bee post #the last episode is almost comical with how many fakeouts and deus ex machina there is like im sorry but i cant take it seriously #maybe i really am too old for this. watching a show at 15 wont be the same as watching a show at 19. #but like part of why i liked tdp so much was bc it never felt like it was talking down to its audience???? it told it how it was!! #like it treated the audience like it was smart and it would catch onto nuances and here its just #cheap tropes and characters that are all over the place #am i going insane??? #ok anyway give me a few days to be salty about it and then i will calm down probably

making a post about tangle & whisper's relationship because I LOVE THEM

Okay, so, Tangle clearly cares about Whisper;

After Sonic's death, after the danger of the Metal Virus- after Tangle died and Whisper could barely cope with the grief, Whisper's anxious. She can't relax- and so Tangle is trying to reassure her!! She just wants her to be happy!

And then the Metal Virus.

When Tangle died, she apologized-

She said to tell Whisper and the others that she's sorry, that Whisper'll take it really hard, and that she's sorry.

Sorry for what, though?

Being a hero. Sonic wouldn't let her be sorry for being a hero- he's seen too many good people say the same- like I said in a previous post.

And then Whisper finds out.

She watches her girlfriend, the woman she loves, be taken away from her as she can't do anything about it.

Tangle is so strong.

So brave.

She never gives up- and keeps a smile in even the harshest times.

She was Whisper's everything.

Her hope.

And now? She's gone.

Whisper almost never opens her eyes.

She almost never speaks at a regular volume.

Here? She screams at the top of her lungs and bursts into tears, completely distraught and broken by Tangle's death.

She couldn't cope with it. She had to be physically restrained to stop her from jumping to save her girlfriend.

And then she breaks down completely, and holds her head crying.

Even later, she tries to get revenge.

Because she can't take it.

She can't deal with Tangle's death, so she has to avenge her.

She can't deal with that loss again. She can't have Eggman take another friend away from her. She's so angry- so horrified- so sad-

So she tries to kill him.

Cream has to stop her- because Whisper was absolutely broken by Tangle's death. Tangle, in a way, was Whisper's light in the dark- a speck of hope when all seems lost, and she's always tried to reassure her even in the darkest of times- like here in Whisper & Tangle.

Whisper's threatened- and Tangle's worried, at first, but when she sees the note? The threat to her girlfriend? She's disgusted. She says that they're going to find who did this, and they're going to kick his fucking ass.

And look at their reunion here.

Whisper was so lost without her- She was absolutely ecstatic that Tangle was back.

Remember, Whisper doesn't like hugs. And here she tackles Tangle.

Thinking about how Tangle and Jewel were a case of "had feelings for each other, but the timing was never right."

When they were little, Jewel developed a little playground crush. Tangle was so bright and fun, bold and adventurous, and Jewel was drawn to that because it was something she lacked herself. She didn't realize she had a crush at first, and when she did she was too shy to say anything. And they kept getting older, and reached a point (maybe around 11 or 12), where Jewel started to think about the future and decided that, long term, she and Tangle could never work out, so it was best not to ruin their friendship.

But around that time Tangle developed a crush of her own, because Jewel was SO pretty and smart and fun in her own way. And she confessed it and asked Jewel out, but Jewel said no and (lied) that she didn't like Tangle that way, and they were better as friends. Tangle was disappointed, but still thrilled to be best friends, so she accepted it.

And then more years passed, and Jewel thought she got over her feelings, but then Tangle met and fell in love with Whisper and they started spending all their time together, and—

Jewel tries not to be jealous. She can see what a great match Tangle and Whisper are. Whisper herself is a great person. And Whisper can adventure WITH Tangle, which Jewel (feels she) can't. But those feelings of hers weren't as gone as she thought. And they're hurting now, as Jewel watches Whisper live the life she wishes she could.

Tangle and Jewel are still best friends, and that's great. Jewel just wishes so badly it could be enough.
