A Small Perth & Chimon Timeline

Since I like procrastinating post about Perth and Chimon excessively, I decided to put together a small timeline of them and some of their works! I'm definitely missing a few things because I've been a fan for under 6 months but I wanted to share (under the cut ↓)

Excuse my poor formatting again, I'm more used to word vomiting www

Before I talk about PerthChimon(TM),

I would like to bring up some of Chimon's previous projects. Chimon has been acting as a full time career since 2016, due to financial problems his family faced. His first named role was Nack from Sweet Boy (I won't be posting it because I don't. like the movie lmfao). Later that year he joined GMMTV as a supporting character in Senior Secret Love: My Lil Boy 2.

(this is also where he met Nanon! They've know eachother for almost 8 years now)

In 2017, he was cast in My Dear Loser: Edge of 17 as Sun, in a side pairing alongside Pluem Purim. The two of them would star as In-Sun again in My Dear Loser: Happy Ever After (2017) and Our Skyy (2018)'s My Dear Loser episode. This is when (I suspect) Chimon became more well known in English fandom spaces, playing one half of a BL side pairing.

So... what about Perth?

Sometime after My Dear Loser, in 2017, Chimon was cast as the lead in Please... Siang RIak Winyan, or Please... Soul Call (I will be calling it 'Please' from here on).

Perth was cast as a supporting character by its director New Siwaj, who had met Perth when he was auditioning for various advertisements. Perth and Chimon met for the first time during Please's workshops, but didn't talk much, if at all as their characters didn't share any scenes and Perth was (and still is) naturally very quiet, keeping to himself.

Please is 6 episodes long, and the first 4 episodes were subtitled by lovelyperthmarks on Youtube. I personally don't think the show is anything extraodinary, but definitely fun to watch if you want to see how much Perth and Chimon have grown!

And after that,

After Please, Perth and Chimon proceeded with their own projects. Perth was later cast in Love By Chance (2018) by, again, New Siwaj where his popularity kind of.... exploded...... you could say (lol). Around the same time, Chimon starred in several GMMTV series, including The Gifted (2018), one of the more well known non-BL GMMTV series.

Perth worked on a few shows, including The Stranded (2019), one of the earliest Netflix shows produced by Thai companies starring Thai actors. He was also in TEMPT, a boy band featuring multiple Love By Chance cast members that disbanded later in 2020. Perth eventually went freelance some time in 2020, starring in a few projects like his first movie Tell The World I Love You (2022), and My Coach (2022).

Similarly, Chimon worked on several GMMTV series such as He's Coming To Me (2019), The Gifted Graduation (2020), and The Player (2021). He also worked on a few non-GMMTV shows, such as Put Your Head On My Shoulder (2019) and was a main host of TV show School Rangers from 2018 to 2023 (HE'S GRADUATING!!!!!). He also vlogs on his Youtube channel occasionally, something that he says he wants to go back to if he has the time.

In 2020, they did a photoshoot together at Fantopia for... no apparent reason? I really can't think of a reason Perth would be put with them lolol. I don't have the high quality version of this but I'm sure its out there somewhere!!!

At some point, Perth and Chimon became casual friends through their mutual friends Ohm and Nanon. I'm not super sure when this happened but they talk about this a bit in this interview! This clip also has a few other interesting things like how Chimon declined taking BL roles after Pluem went to do other projects, but P'Aof managed to convince him because he would be paired with Perth. Which leads me into...

Perth in GMMTV

In April 2022, Perth was announced as a new GMMTV artist. He made a guest appearance in Vice Versa (2022), but had no announced projects until GMMTV2023.

In July 2022, Perth and Chimon attended the KAZZ Awards 2022 as a duo. Perth and Chimon were also both part of Safe House Season 4: Vote (2022) where they grew to be close friends. I assume this is also when Perth was added to NLMG's cast and ChopperBen was written in. It's also possible Dangerous Romance was in early planning stages but I cannot confirm this.

At this point, Never Let Me Go had already been announced as part of the GMMTV2022 lineup. It featured Chimon as Ben, Nuengdiao's (eventual) ex boyfriend and someone else (SORRY I CAN NOT REMEMBER WHO.......) as Chopper, Nuengdiao's cousin. There was no ChopperBen romantic storyline even hinted at in the pilot trailer.

Phuwin Makes An Oopsie

On 17th September 2022, Phuwin posted this image on Twitter.

See anyone familiar in the corner? That is indeed Perth Tanapon himself! At this point there was no information about NLMG and any cast change, and Pond, Phuwin and Perth decided to post this (well. Phuwin posted it but the other 2 didn't stop him) because surely no one would know. They were told to take it down but the same day, people started speculating about Perth's role in NLMG.

People had started wondering if they would be paired together in a series from KAZZ Awards and Safe House S4, and Phuwin posting Perth on the workshop of a series Chimon was already in (we will get to this later) confirmed it for everyone. Before we got NLMG's official trailer in November, however, we got...

Dangerous Romance

At GMMTV2023, which was held in November 2022 (days before NLMG's official trailer was released), the pilot trailer for Dangerous Romance was revealed and PerthChimon were confirmed as an official pairing. Perth was immediately cast as Kanghan and Chimon as Sailom soon after, since they could match eachother's acting ability well and were a good fit for the roles (I can't find the source for this it got lost in my 82374983 PC bookmarks. Here's who I think is P'Aof talking about why PC were paired though!)

Throughout this time, Perth and Chimon were in several events together, including GMMTV FanDay in Osaka and too many promotional events for me to keep track of. I might make a separate post for them someday. My personal favourite is Bookfluencer x PerthChimon, where they promoted the release of Dangerous Romance's novel.

In April 2023, Dangerous Romance's workshops started. It lasted for 4 days

Later in May 2023, KanghanSailom fitting pics were also released!

(other cast member fitting pics weren't released until the official trailer aired. the fitting seems to have been in mid May!)

And soon, at the start of June 2023, Dangerous Romance officially began filming. The filming lasted until August 2023, including the music video filming (and recording!), though there was a day they had to go back to reshoot a few scenes (you can see this in the series, they have noticably different hair).

Ever since then, PerthChimon have been doing promotional events and fanmeetings. They filmed 3 episodes of vlogs, were in GMMTV Fanday 6 in Seoul as well as GMMTV Fanday 7 in Cambodia, GMMTV Fanfest 2023 in Japan, and have already been confirmed as part of LOL Fanfest 2024! And of course, the Dangerous Romance Final Ep Fanmeet taking place (checks notes) TOMORROW?!?!?!?!

So this ended up longer than I thought. Happy almost Dangerous Romance EP 12 day!!! Let's keep supporting Perth and Chimon next year too.

Deer Woman

Deer Woman, sometimes known as the Deer Lady, is a spirit in Native American mythology whose associations and qualities vary, depending on situation and relationships. Generally, however, to men who have harmed women and children, she is vengeful and murderous and known to lure these men to their deaths. She appears as either a beautiful young woman with deer feet or as a deer.

Deer Woman stories are found in multiple Indigenous American cultures, often told to young children or by young adults and preteens in the communities of the Lakota people (Oceti Sakowin), Ojibwe, Ponca, Omaha, Cherokee, Muscogee, Seminole, Choctaw, Otoe, Osage, Pawnee, and the Haudenosaunee, and those are only the ones that have documented Deer Woman sightings.

Deer Woman is one of the Little People. Though they can be malevolent towards humans, their role in Indigenous culture is to uphold traditional society by keeping humans in line by discouraging harmful actions that have the potential to destroy the community. The legend of Deer Woman in particular pushes them away from actions like promiscuity and infidelity. The Little People also hold otherworldly knowledge that they can pass onto humans which is then transmitted through the generations; however, this power must be obtained, respected, and maintained in traditional, healthy ways. As an example of what happens when these spiritual rules are broken, the people who incur the wrath of Deer Woman and her uncle, Thunder, soon die.

Some stories describe the sighting of Deer Woman as a sign of personal transformation or as a warning. Deer Woman is said to be fond of dancing and will sometimes join a communal dance unnoticed, leaving only when the drum beating ceases.

Among Lakota people, Deer Woman is called Anukite. The daughter of the first man and first woman was a beautiful young woman named Ite (Face). Tate (Wind) fell in love with her. They married and had quadruplets, who were the Four Winds. Tate wished to become a god and enlisted the aid of Inktomi, the trickster spider, who caused the Sun to fall in love with Ite. At a celebration, Ite sat in the place of the Moon, the Sun's wife. To punish her disrespect, the Sky cast Ite down from heaven to the earth. Half of her face became ugly and her name became Anukite (Double Face Woman) or Winyan Numpa (Double Woman).

Anukite appears to men in dreams or visions, either as a single deer or two deer women: a white-tailed deer and a black-tailed deer. Her two different sides symbolize appropriate and inappropriate sexual relations. Men that have sex with her are believed to go insane while women that dream of her will have strong powers or sexual attraction or can gain artistic powers if they make a wise choice in the near future.

Deer Woman and the other Little People share similarities with some European supernatural beings such as the Gaelic Aos Sí and Tuatha Dé Danann, the Germanic elves, and the Slavic víle and rusalki in that they hold otherworldly knowledge that they can pass onto humans if they are treated with respect and said human(s) deemed worthy. Special care is also taken not to anger them and avoid breaking their rules as their vengeance is unpleasant and often deadly.

La Patasola, literally "single footed", is a somewhat similar figure from the Antioquia region of Colombia in that she brings harm to men who harm what she cares about, in this case the forest. She is a shapeshifter who takes the form of a beautiful woman to lure men with her cries of fear. When the men, who are often causing harm in one way or another to the rain forest, come to her, she drops her beautiful mask and slaughters them in an effort to protect the forest.

[ I'm debating on something. It's important to me and my family, but I understand it may not be for others. I'll put it under read more.]

So, a lot of Native Americans have names that can be separated from their birth names. They would be names like Harmony's Lakota name Mato Winyan (Bear Woman), but used to be Mato Ciqana (Little Bear). Names can change throughout the course of a person's life through their actions, merits, or even their talents or personality.

Not every Native American has a name separate from their birth or legal names though. It doesn't make them any less of who they are if they don't have a tribal name.

How we get our names differs by nation or tribe. In mine, it can be passed down between generations, or given to you by an elder. There are really no ceremonies for names in Chickasaw culture. Basically, you get it, usually from an elder, and it's your name.

I had one when I was a kid from my paternal grandfather who is half Chickasaw. He called me Chona'Sha' which means water moccasin. For people who may not know, this is a species of venomous snake that is commonly found in or near water. They are also known as cottonmouths for the color of their mouths.

My dad is nearing the age when he will become an elder in the tribe. He wanted me to consider whether to stick with Chona'Sha' or go with the name one of my sisters offered, which is Nita' Hashi' (Moon Bear, but can also mean Sun Bear since Hashi' is used for both the sun and moon).

I'm not sure which one to choose. I kind of stuck with Chona'Sha' but I also kind of struggle with it. I used to be close to my grandparents until when I was a teen. I won't elaborate but things became difficult and messy. I had to be in no contact with them and most of my relatives after everything that happened.

But that's neither here nor there.

Despite the past, I have some attachment to that name but I also like Nita' Hashi'. I'm debating on which fits me better, really.

Chona'Sha' (Water Moccasin) or Nita' Hashi (Moon Bear).

KUMANTHONG

Kuman Thong is an effigy, or statue which is revered in Thailand by animists. They are believed to bring luck and fortune to the owner, if properly revered. Kuman, or Kumara (Pali) means “young boy” (female kumari); thong means golden. Kuman thong is not a Buddhist practice, but necromancy. Genuine Kuman Thong, which was revered and created in ancient times according to traditional method by Adept practitioners of Saiyasart, was made by surgically removing the unborn fetus from the womb of its Mother. The body of the child would then be taken to a cemetery for the conduction of the ceremony to invoke a Kuman Thong. The body is roasted until dry whilst the Mage chants incantations of magical kata. In the case of making a female spirit child, the effigy is not called Kuman Tong, rather “Hong Pray”.

Some Kuman effigies will be soaked in Nam Man Prai, which has extract of a dead child or a person who died in violent circumstances or an unnatural death. This is much less common now, because this practice is now illegal if using fat from human babies for the consecrating oil. There are however still some authentically made amulets appearing. Some years ago a famous monk was thrown out of the Buddhist sangha for roasting a baby. He was convicted, but later continued to make magic as a layperson after his release. The practice of creating Necromantic effigies of a Kuman Tong comes from age old tradition in Thailand. Thai folk have made Bucha to Animistic spirits and ghosts since time immemorial. The original Kuman Tong came from children who died whilst still in their mother’s womb. The Magic makers would take these stillborn babies and adopt them as their children.

From what information has been gathered from ancient Thai manuscripts about how to make a Kuman Tong, it appears that the correct method is to remove the dead baby surgically from the mother’s womb, and take it to undergo the proper ceremonial ritual; The baby must be roasted until dry. This must be completed before dawn, and should be performed in a cemetery. Once the rite is completed, the dry-roasted Kuman should be painted with Ya Lak (a kind of lacquer used to cover amulets and Takrut with gold leaf, and covered in gold leaf. This is the real reason why this effigy received the name of “Kuman Thong” (which means “Golden Baby Boy”).

Origins: In Thailand, the Kuman Thong is also spoken of in the legend of Khun Chang Khun Phaen, where the character Khun Phaen made one by removing the stillborn baby from the stomach of his wife.

THE MAKING OF PONG PRAI KUMARN (PONG PRAI KUMARN MAHA PHUUT)

Guru Monks from Thailand who made the best Pong Prai Kumarn are LP Tim of Wat Laharnrai, Rayong Province and LP Tay Kongthong of Wat Sam-ngam Nakorn Pathom Province.

WHAT IS PONG PRAI KUMARN?

It’s a holy powder used for making amulets, and it contains human remains. According to a speech by LP Tim of Wat Laharnrai “obtaining help from power of the Buddha requested by the amulet owners is too slow, but obtaining help from ghosts (spirits) to answer the prayers of the amulet owners is alot faster”.

IS IT BLACK MAGIC? No, it’s not. The Guru monks like LP Tim and LP Tay Kongthong would perform ritual ceremonies to turn / ordain ghosts (spirits) of the dead to “monks”, in Thai called “Buet Phee”. The ghosts (spirits) will not do any harm to the amulet wearers. Those spirits will only do good things and help the amulet wearers for their own merit.

WILL THOSE HOLY SPIRITS LEAVE THE AMULETS? Possibly not. Why?Because each day in spirit world is equal to 100 ordinary solar years of our planet.

WHAT IS ITS POWER?

HOW WAS IT MADE?

According to the interview of Mr.Kularp Joichareon (Mor Larp), in BE 2515 (1972) LP Tim had the intention to make Buddha amulets as gifts to people who donated for the construction of Sala Pawwana Pirath Building at Wat Laharnrai, and LP Tim told 2 of his non-monk disciples, Mr.Sai Keawsawang, and Mr.Kularp Joichareon (Mor Larp) that “we will go to get the good stuff tonight, the undertaker will cremate E Som at Wat Laharnrai by tomorrow. And the 2 of you must prepare things for the ritual ceremony”. E Som or Mrs.Som was a pregnant girl, a relative of Mr.Sai Keawsawang`s wife. E Som had a fight with her husband and later committed suicide with 7-8 months pregnancy. E Som died on Saturday and was going to be cremated on Tuesday. After 11 pm that night LP Tim later told Mr.Sai Keawsawang, and Mr.Kularp Joichareon that he would go to bed, and LP Tim said “you have to practise what I have taught you yourself!”, so Mr.Sai Keawsawang, and Mr.Kularp Joichareon had to ride bicycles to the grave yard of Wat Laharnyai where the body of E Som was buried, by themselves. Soon after arriving at the grave of E Som, Mr.Sai Keawsawang, and Mr.Kularp Joichareon did the ritual ceremony to ask permission from the Master of the Grave yard, and then asked E Som to give the skull of her unborn child, and some oil from her flesh (Namman Prai) around her abdominal area.

The next day (Tuesday) before the cremation of E Som`s body at Wat Laharnrai, Mr.Sai Keawsawang, and Mr.Kularp Joichareon told the undertaker not to burn her body to ashes. Before cremation, Mr.Sai Keawsawang drilled a hole in the ground of cremation site under the position E Som’s body would be placed, and put an empty iron can to capture body fat of E Som while being burnt. After cremation, in the night, when everybody had left, Mr.Sai Keawsawang, and Mr.Kularp Joichareon went to the cremation site with one kettle of holy water given by LP Tim. Mr.Sai Keawsawang, and Mr.Kularp Joichareon collected the skull of E Som’s unborn child, a rib bone from E Som’s womb area, E Som`s skull, and the iron can that contained Namman Prai.

After getting what they wanted Mr.Sai Keawsawang, and Mr.Kularp Joichareon threw holy water from the kettle from their heads to their toes, to wash away bad omens that would come with the stuff they were taking from the cremation site. Mr.Sai Keawsawang, and Mr.Kularp Joichareon gave the stuff to LP Tim, and LP Tim performed a ritual ceremony in his monk-house alone, non-stop for 3 days and 3 nights without food, drink (LP Tim was a vegetarian), or sleep. After LP Tim’s ritual ceremony, LP Tim gave the 2 skulls and bone to Mr.Kularp Joichareon to grind them into powder by stone mortar. Soon after the grounding had finished, that stone mortar magically broke into 2 pieces.

Mr.Kularp Joichareon could grind those bone and skulls into an amount of fine powder that would fit inside 1 can of Mali Sweetened Condensed Milk 397 ml. Mr.Kularp Joichareon also had to grind 108 kinds of sacred, sun dried herbs, along with a large amount of fertilizer they had previously dried out, then mixed it all with the bone powder. Mr.Kularp Joichareon`s mixture was equivalent to about 1 jar (7200 ml). This was later mixed with Holy Powder`s made by LP Tim including Pong Pattamang, Pong Ittijay and Pong Tri Nisinghe. The total quantity of finished Pong Prai Kumarn was equivalent to about 3 quarters of an iron bucket (16 litres).

Luang Phor Sakorn, an abbot of Wat Nong Krap, Rayong Province, a chief disciple of Luang Phu Tim of Wat Lahan Rai, living between BE 2481 to BE 2556

“After I’m gone, you may ask Sakorn for help, Sakorn is my BEST disciple”, said Luang Phu Tim.

Luang Phor Sakorn, born Sakorn Paisalee, a rice farmer family, on February 3, BE 2481 (CE 1938) at Ban Khai District, Rayong Province near Wat Lahan Rai where Luang Phu Tim was an abbot. Sakorn’s parents were devotees of Luang Phu Tim, and frequently making merits, and offering food to monks at Wat Lahan Rai. After Sakorn finished his primary school in BE 2490, his parents took him to Wat Lahan Rai to pay respect and visit Luang Phu Tim. Sakorn saw that Luang Phu Tim devoted his entire lifetime to spiritual practices that was dedicated to the welfare of all. Luang Phu Tim was gentle, kind and calm, and respected by many. Luang Phu Tim practiced traditional Thai herbal medicine to treat sick people there, and Luang Phu Tim also helped people who suffered from unknown forces, black magic, and misfortune. Sakorn’s parents later surrendered Sakorn, and encouraged Luang Phu Tim to receive adoption Sakorn as his son. Sakorn always hanged around Wat Lahan Rai, waited and served Luang Phu Tim. At his teen, Sakorn studied sculpture, and fine art under care of Luang Phu Tim. At the age of 21, Sakorn ordained as Buddhist monk at Wat Nong Krap on June 4, BE 2501, given Buddhist monk name “Manutno” which means the great man, and Luang Phor Sakorn later moved to Wat Lahan Rai, and Luang Phu Tim was his master / teacher. Luang Phor Sakorn also studied Buddhism, Buddhist Cannons, and magic from Luang Phor Pheng at Wat Lahan Yai, Rayong Province. Luang Phor Pheng was one of disciples of the Holy Luang Phu Suk of Wat Pak Khlong Makham Thao. Luang Phu Tim advised Luang Phor Sakorn to visit, and learn from Luang Phu Hin at Wat Nong Sanom, and Luang Phu Som at Wat Ban Chong, Chon Buri Province. In the later years, Luang Phor Sakorn traveled to many places to study from Guru Monks, and White Robe Masters orderly;

Luang Phor Sakorn always visited Luang Phu Tim at Wat Lahan Rai, and assisted Luang Phu Tim to make all Batches of amulets of Luang Phu Tim, and learned how to make amulets from Luang Phu Tim. Luang Phor Sakorn followed the path of Luang Phu Tim, Luang Phor Sakorn devoted his entire lifetime to spiritual practices that was dedicated to the welfare of all and was respected by many. Luang Phor Sakorn passed away on September 18, BE 2556 (CE 2013) at the age of 75, 55 years in Theravada Buddhist Monastery.

The Too-Long PerthChimon Review: Part 1

In this part, I will be covering the three (!) shows both Perth and Chimon were in. One is a non-BL where their characters do not interact, but the other two (which you've probably watched, if you're reading this) are BLs and feature them as a couple!

(I segmented them for readability. If there's a better way to do it please lmk oops)

Please… Siang Riak Winyan aka Please… Soul Call

I only watched 4 episodes, because that was all that was available with subtitles. The other two are online somewhere, but I wasn't very inclined to continue.

'Please' is a short horror series where Win (Chimon) and his classmates encounter… ghosts, or something. I don't remember much about this one, if I'm being honest. They accidentally contact some ghosts in a school bathroom and they suffer because of it for 6 episodes. It's not particularly memorable, and the horror elements weren't super good but I am willing to cut it some slack in that aspect.

What I did find interesting is Perth's character, Breeze. Breeze is a transfer student who is later revealed to be the younger half-brother of another character, Be. The two aren't close, but their interactions in the show are quite heartfelt.

However, this whole half-siblings subplot kind of comes out of nowhere…? And neither does it really lead anywhere. Be and Breeze aren't part of the main friend group in Please, and don't have much importance outside of this.

The only purpose this storyline serves is to explain the origins of the main ghost that's been haunting Win and friends (this is an assumption. I did not watch episodes 5 and 6 but it's heavily implied in the earlier episodes so I will stick with it).

Please is rather unremarkable as a series, but as an actor fan it really makes me want to claw at the walls.

First, this is where PerthChimon met. They've mentioned talking a little at the workshops in some of their interviews.

Second, this is Perth's first TV series as well as Chimon's first lead role in a series (he was the lead of a movie I'll discuss in another part).

Third, this series is likely where director New Siwaj started picking favourite actors. Alongside Perth, Mark Siwat and Sood Yacht (I am so sorry if I got his name wrong I'm not familiar with him) are also in this series. The three of them would get cast in Love By Chance not long after, with Perth and Yacht appearing in several of New's shows after that.

Lastly, Perth and Mark Siwat (who plays Be) became friends on this set! Mark was Perth's first friend in the industry, and they're still good friends now as far as I know. I enjoyed watching them work together, but I'll get into that more when I talk about The Stranded. This paragraph is already longer than it should be.

Never Let Me Go

This is a show I have opinions that I struggle to put into words about. Never Let Me Go is a series about the heir to a prestigious family, Nuengdiao, and the bodyguard assigned to him after his father is shot and killed, Palm. Perth plays Nuengdiao's cousin Chopper, while Chimon plays Ben, a classmate of theirs.

I did not like this show. The storyline is messy at times, the characters (with the exception of Chopper) are often underwhelming and don't reach their full potential.

It has an interesting premise, but fails to deliver at almost every turn after the first few episodes. I will be focusing on Chopper and Ben but one thing I particularly disliked about Palm and Nueng is that Palm is a very bland character.

We never learn much about him beyond his protectiveness and his existence as The Love Interest, and he lacks a distinct personality. This is a problem with Mork in Fish Upon The Sky as well (sorry Pond) but it's more noticable in NLMG due to it's more serious tone, which requires better developed characters than a romcom like FUTS would.

There were some things I enjoyed about the show! It's very nice to look at. The visuals are good! The cast being pretty also helps. I loved Perth's performance as Chopper, it is by far the strongest performance in the cast.

It's not that the rest of them are bad actors, rather strong actors like Chimon and Pawin were dragged down because they aren't given very much to work with. When good actors are given subpar scripts or underdeveloped characters, they'll try their best but their performance will Not be as good!!! Which is unfortunate.

Chopper is the only well-rounded character in this series. I assume there were rewrites along the way, since Chopper is quite different from the novel that was written alongside the series and ChopperBen were likely added in only after Perth joined the cast, to promote PerthChimon before Dangerous Romance. I personally have a soft spot for Ben (I have a big gay crush on Chimon) but Chopper is my favourite character overall in NLMG.

NLMG feels very much like a PG-13 Kinnporsche that misses everything that made KP… well, KP. This is probably a coincidence but I watched them one after another so NLMG's flaws were more obvious to me. By episode 12 I was only watching for ChopperBen and I had no interest in PalmNueng, which rarely happens even if I favour the side pair. NLMG just feels lacking in many ways, to the point where I enjoyed FUTS more (despite being equally bad) just because it's funny.

There are a few things I wished the series took from the novel. The ChopperBen epilogue set shortly after they move overseas together is something that I think the series desperately needed. It makes Ben's storyline (which the novel has a heavier emphasis on) more complete, and considering we didn't get ChopperBen in Our Skyy 2, it would have been a good conclusion to ChopperBen as a whole.

I also liked the PalmNueng rooftop scene but I understand why they left it out of the series. The novel also kills off Kit after the final confrontation in episode 12, but I assume the series didn't want to deal with the implications of Chopper patricide.

I didn't finish the NLMG Our Skyy 2 episodes but the slightly lighter tone definitely helped a lot. A bit of a weird choice to give bully kid whats-his-name a boyfriend out of nowhere but as a MarcPawin fan I respect it.

This series was… a mess. But I love ChopperBen dearly! They're something special and I spend a much longer time thinking about them than I show. They're what got me into PerthChimon and I'll never regret watching NLMG for that alone.

Dangerous Romance

Finally, their most recent work, Dangerous Romance. I was waiting for this one for months and definitely not disappointed, even if it wasn't what I expected! (Just a warning. I will be criticising DR a bit here.)

The character relationships are the strongest part of DR. KanghanSailom's development over the episodes, navigating how to love eachother and growing as people together, was incredible to watch over 12 weeks. The way it all comes together is amazing.

GuyNava and NameSaifah, although lacking screentime, were super interesting to me. They managed to sell us (even View and June, who referred to them as another couple in DR on Live House) on NameSaifah in around 3 episodes total somehow which I find hilarious. PimfahNabdao didn't get much screentime but they were cute and I hope we get a continuation of their story!

DR also looks VERY good. Some of the visuals are amazing. The windmill location is gorgeous and I assume it looks even better in person (I HAVE to visit someday… A few Japanese fans I know flew to Thailand and visited it. I wish I were them).

However, DR often struggles to get from point A to point B. This isn't a huge problem because the A and B in question are well-written, but it really feels like they had a few scenes planned but couldn't figure out how to connect them. They knew the direction they wanted to take KanghanSailom and GuyNava, but had difficulty writing the 'to' in 'enemies to lovers'. This is evident with other scenes too but it's very obvious when it comes to the main couple and the primary side couple of a BL.

Some of the direction is also a bit questionable. I personally don't like the overuse of flashbacks and OST (it reminds me of Double Savage and that's not a good thing) but I've accepted that its just a DR thing.

I like what the costuming team has come up with, bless whoever managed to make Pawin look 10 years younger than he is and the same age as actors 4 to 6 years younger than him. The details in how the wardrobe of the friendgroup, down to the colour of their uniforms is a nice touch too. This crew definitely has a lot of love for the series and I like that!!!

DR is hurt a lot by what it sets itself up to be. When viewed as a typical BL with interesting romantic storylines, it's very good.

However, the promotion tends to frame it as something darker than what we ended up with, a unique storyline that happens to be BL (similar to Only Friends in that sense). The pilot trailer also doesn't help, since it promised a darker overall feel with meaner characters. The themes of poverty and class differences aren't handled very well but people who think more about DR's themes than me have discussed this. I was here to watch KanghanSailom be cute after episode 3.

This difference between what was expected from the pilot and trailers and the final product is what I suspect causes people to view DR as worse than it is. Looking past that, DR is a flawed but great BL series, one of the better shows to come out of the GMMTV2023 lineup.

I'm also one of the people who were skeptical about the difference in the feel of the pilot and the official trailers. The pilot trailer occupies a good 15% of my brainspace and I will always miss all it gave us (the rain kiss!!!!! THE VIBE OF THE BACKING SONG!!!!!!) but DR is something that exists separate from that now and as it's own thing, I adore it.

What I really love about DR is how PerthChimon it is. It's a very significant show for both of them in so many ways! It's their "official" return to BL (Perth hasn't done BL since 2020, Chimon not since 2018) and I don't think there would've been a better show for this.

Kanghan and Sailom have a lot of Perth and Chimon in them, and I don't even know if it was intentional. Perth and Chimon both relate a lot to their characters (for reasons they have mentioned in interviews) and when listening to what Perth said when he was asked what Kanghan wants to say to Sailom I wanted to run around in circles and scream because you could really tell it came from his heart.

It's also the first time Chimon has released a song, and the first time Perth has sung a duet.

You can see the PerthChimon in some scenes like when Kanghan is feeding Sailom in their studying montage, and one entire postcredits Oishi segment (I don't remember which episode, I think it's the open house one). As a PerthChimon fan Dangerous Romance is incredible because of all this!!!

There's also a line before they perform Sunset at the open house that stuck out to me. Kanghan's line about how Sailom is talented but rarely has the chance to showcase his talents is just a little awkward by itself but it gets me very emotional because Chimon has talked about how he turned down singing jobs in the past due to trauma and still gets nervous on stage, something which Perth supports him through whenever they sing together.

(Since I first typed this, a clip has been posted where the directors talk about how a lot of the sweet KanghanSailom scenes were improvised. Incredible work from PerthChimon, 10/10 no notes.)

DR is filmed in the same campus building as several other Chimon shows like Edge of 17 and The Gifted which is a whole other thing I think about sometimes. Especially Edge of 17, his first BL series with Pluem Purim. Comparing Sun and Sailom, you can really see how much Chimon has grown in those SIX?! years.

I also love seeing PerthChimon work together. They're very comfortable with eachother, and Perth has said that Chimon is the partner he's felt the most comfortable with (knowing Perth's acting history, this is a very bold statement but I believe he means it). I hope DR is just the start for PerthChimon and they continue working together for a long time.

Tell us about something that's happened recently (asker can request a specific "vibe" to the story--happy, sad, annoying, funny, etc. if they wish).

A pop followed by a soft hiss of carbonation fills a moment of silence when Envy pauses with his questions. The metallic tab rises when a finger pulls it up and opens the chilled can in the woman's hand. Harmony is surprised, really. Envy doesn't speak much, but he is asking questions about her. Though his voice is soft and he pauses after every few brief moments. She doesn't answer right away, choosing to let him finish asking before she speaks.

Silver eyes watch him while she holds the freshly opened can of cola to her lips. Harmony sips her drink in silence, taking in those questions. The can return to the little side table placed by the window seat where she sits by the Little Killer's side. She lowers her head, deep in thought about those questions. The pitter-patter of rain tapping on cold glass follows the air of silence, but that will be fleeting when Harmony answers them.

"I have a few names, my given name, and the names my grandfather and great-uncle gave me when I was a child and as an adult. Mama and Dad gave me the name Harmony because it was a name meaning peace...Peace in our past and hoping for a brighter future. It also matches my last name." She scoots across the window seat closer to Envy. "I also have another name. When I was born, Grandpa gave me my first Lakota name. It's Ciqana Mato, which means Little Bear. I had that name until a few years ago when I graduated from high school. Traditionally, we may have our names changed from our actions, merits, or through ceremonies. My great-uncle, his name is Joseph...He gave me the name Mato Winyan to mark adulthood. That means Bear Woman in the Lakota language. I don't know if it fits me, but I like to think so...Bears are pretty cool." Harmony adds,

"My middle name...Mama gave me that one. Celestine is like this pretty crystal. Some people think it's fragile, but it's a strong rock. I guess she picked that because it sounds pretty, but maybe it also describes how I'm strong, too. Like bears..."

Harmony adjusts her position. She settles in between Envy's legs and slowly leans back until her back rests against his chest. The taut muscles beneath the clothing reminds her once more of what his loose clothes hide.

"I like the smell of the rain...The sound of it too. I love to listen to rain while I'm in bed under the covers. I like petting cats because their fur is so soft and hearing their sweet purrs. I enjoy petting animals in general, really. I like birds singing, the aroma of apples and cinnamon...And..." A nervous giggle follows her answer.

"I'm sorry if it sounds weird, but I like the smell of your jacket and hair. I like how soft your hair is too. It's feels almost like silk...And I like the feeling of your kisses and your hands." Harmony adds and lifts Envy's hand. She holds it in a warm, gentle grip. Her touch is a sharp contrast to the cold touch of his ghostly skin. Fingers stroke the back of his hand while she continues. "Let's see...What else...I like the smell of roasted marshmallows, like for s'mores. Those were one of my favorite snacks growing up. I miss eating campfire s'mores, but...I don't like how fire feels."

She remembers the hellish flames. They dug into her flesh like razor-sharp claws. The burns dove deeper and deeper to the bone. Searing, blistering, tearing her skin and feasting on it.

"It hurts...It hurts terribly...Sometimes, the pain returns. I don't think it ever leaves..."

Harmony remembers that fateful day...The day where she would survive, but with scars marring her tan skin. She isn't sure what Envy thinks of those burns. He has seen them before, but he never turned Harmony away. In fact, he seems to want her regardless of her imperfections. She certainly loves Envy, even with the slipknot marks around his slender wrists, ankles, and neck.

Harmony lifts Envy's hand close to her face. She lowers her head until her lips press a gentle kiss on his wrist covered by his sleeve. Then, she press the back of his hand to her cheek. The grip is tight enough to keep him there, but also gentle enough to let him go if the Little Killer chooses.

The woman doesn't want to focus on those ugly memories. It would be best to move on from it! That is exactly what Harmony does by answering his last question.

"Did I tell you what I saw yesterday? I went outside for a bit for fresh air. The sun was about to set, but it was still kind of hot and humid out. So, I didn't stay out for long. I looked out and noticed something blink. Then, there was another and another. I got so excited! They were fireflies! They are coming out now! They were flying about and glow now and then. That's one of the cool things about southern states like Mississippi. You get to see fireflies." Gray eyes light up as she tells Envy that story. A sigh follows that story and she tilts her head back until her gaze meets Envy's face. "But I don't think they will come out tonight. It's still raining...Not that I'm complaining. Rain is neat to watch, too."
