The Trespasser pt. 26
You were on top of the world with the new title of leader of your family’s clan. You were the strongest clan in all of the orient and you were proud. But your family feels that there are threats still lurking around making you a target. When they introduce you to a potential man for a business and marriage merger will it help your clan or make matters worse?

The next morning you woke up feeling groggy and tired. The entire night you kept thinking about Hoseok wondering, did he get home okay? He’s not hurt right? Why was he so drunk? Why did he have to come here of all places? Did he really mean what he said last night? And although your mind kept telling you that it was just a drunken mishap, your heart wanted to fully believe that he had come for you. It made your mind wonder if he was doing as horribly as you had been. If he was feeling like an emotional zombie, focusing only on work, and just getting through the next day like you had been doing.  But once again your brain had reared its ugly head and told you that he hadn’t, that it was just a mistake and that he only said those things because he was so drunk.
You let out a loud yawn and stretched in bed feeling your sheets glide across your skin before you reached over to find your phone on your nightstand. You clicked the lock button once to see what time it was only to find that you had close to a dozen notifications from your mother alone. You quickly unlocked your phone and rummaged through the messages and missed calls.
4 New Messages, 6 Missed calls…
Mom: You had better give me a damn good explanation as to why I heard that you and Hoseok decided to end things
Mom:  Your father is beyond pissed!!!
Mom: If you want to ever come over here again you better pick up the phone!
Mom: Fine!
You let out a loud sigh and pinched the bridge of your nose. In the mix of everything that had been going on you had tried so hard to maintain appearances so that you could explain to your parents what had happened on your own terms, and not when wounds were still so fresh.
You got up and immediately went to the bathroom to freshen up before you subjected yourself to the emotional warfare that was your mother on the phone. and while you sat on the toilet you stared down at the pad that remained completely clean after your night’s rest. You gently ripped the pad away and wadded it up in toilet tissue before you threw it away.
“it’s finally done” you whispered softly to yourself as you stared at it in the trash can. There was a particularly enslaving feeling that overwhelmed you as you looked down into the bin. Many people may not know that you were once pregnant, but you would always know and every time that you had a period you would feel a small tinge of guilt.
You finished things in the bathroom and then took a seat on the side of your bed and stared at your phone for a moment, before picking it up and calling the last person who you wanted to discuss your marriage with.
“You have some nerve calling me this late in the day missy!” Your mom almost immediately answered.
“Hello to you to mom, oh I’m fine by the way, thanks for asking!” you said back.
“What the hell happened to you? Did someone piss in your cheerios today?” she asked back, “Why the hell am I hearing that you and Hoseok decided to end things?” she paused for half a second before she continued, not allowing you to answer the question. “Get your ass over here! You have some explaining to do!” she barked out before she hung up the phone.
You sat there in complete silence like a statue for a few seconds before you unfroze. You heard the chime of a new text message alert, and you looked down at your phone to see what it was.
Mom: Don’t you dare think about disappearing! If you don’t come today, then there will be some restructuring of this family!
Your eyes widened for a moment as you processed what your mother had sent to. You knew that she was going to be disappointed that you had ended the contract with Hoseok, but you didn’t think that it was going to become so serious! You got up from your bed and quickly put on some clothes before you headed off to your parents’ home.
As you parked your car you looked up to your family home and let out a quick deep breath. Today was going to fucking suck! As you got out of your car and started your walk to the front door you looked up to see your mother standing in the doorway with her arms crossed over her chest and a look of disapproval on her face. As soon as she was sure that you had seen her, she walked away from the door into the house leaving you by yourself outside. You completed the few steps with a scoff and a final sigh before you shut and locked the door behind you.
When you entered the house, you followed the smell of cigars and coffee to the living room where your father was smoking and reading the news paper and your mother was sitting, sipping on her coffee like a prima donna. Sensing your presence, your father looked up from his paper and quickly took hold of his cigar.
“There’s my little puppy! What are you doing here darling!” he exclaimed, obviously unaware of what was going on.
You cut your glance over to your mother before you smiled softly at him and took a seat in a chair across from her. If things weren’t already terrible now you would have to cut the news to him too, which you’re assuming that your mother was going to allow you to do as a form of punishment. “Mom called me over!” you finally answered.
“Good! It’s been a while since I’d seen you last kiddo!” he said with a chuckle.
You stared at him for a moment, taking in his happy image. You knew that his mood was going to do a whole 180 after he was finally in the loop, and your ass was going to be on the line. You looked down at your feet for a second and took a deep breath before you aired it all out.
“Dad there’s something that i-“…. You started softly but before you had time to say anything else you were interrupted.
“Hey! I didn’t know you were here! Want any coffee?” Hoseok chimed out in a positive tone as he entered the room with a coffee pot to fill your father and mothers’ cups.
You looked up at him in complete confusion and immediately began to feel yourself tighten up and close off. You looked over to your mother who was looking over at him sweetly with her cup stretch outward for a refill, and you immediately were filled with a silent rage. You were already going through enough of a tough time as is and the last person who you expected to exploit your emotions right now was your mother. But if she was going to do this to you and play around with threats then you were going to go straight to the source and make sure that she couldn’t do it again.
“Dad, there’s something that I need to talk to you about and I would prefer it if we could do that in private.” You said to him with a serious tone hoping that he could feel your sense of urgency.
Your father pursed his eyebrows together but then as soon as he had, he released them and gave you a soft smile back in return with a slight nod. As soon as he began folding his paper you stood up from your chair, ready to follow him to his study. But just as quickly as you stood up your mother had already began making her move.
“Darling none of that right now, you just got here!” Your mother trying to complain.
“If she has something that she needs to discuss with me then let her do it. She’s a busy girl!” Your father chimed in, standing from his seat.
The two of you were about to turn to leave the room when you suddenly felt a hand grabbing your wrist, restricting any further movement forward. You looked down at the hand that held onto you and followed it back to Hoseok, who had a particular look of urgency in his eyes.
“Actually, if you don’t mind… can I have a word with you first?” he asked softly.
You gave him a blank stare for a moment before you nodded your head. You looked over to your father who had already sat back down in his chair and waved his hand at you to go on. You looked back at Hoseok and pulled your hand away from his grasp, and he let go reluctantly.
You guided Hoseok to your father’s office where you knew that your conversation would remain private from any lurking eyes and ears. You locked the door behind the two of you as he entered behind you, and you gestured to the chairs that your father had arranged for meetings. You took a seat and the two of you sat in silence for a while and stared at each other’s faces.
Hoseok looked as good as ever and possibly even better, which pissed you off. Some days you could just manage to get out of bed, and yet here he was looking handsome after a night binge drinking while you were sober and feeling like a freight train had hit you.
“Why didn’t you unblock me?” Hoseok asked first thing.
You looked up to him surprised that he had remembered that much of last night. “To be honest I didn’t think that you would even remember showing up last night.”
Hoseok gave you a soft smile, but you could tell that there was nothing but a slight sting of pain behind it. “That’s fair. But if you know me at all you know that I’m a man of my word.” He said with a cheesier grin, “And… I know that you’re a woman of your word, so unblock me” he challenged.
You gave him an emotionless stare for a second before you pulled out your phone and unblocked his contact in your settings. You locked your phone and sat it down in your lap and looked up at him with a look of tiredness. “Are we done now?” you asked.
“Well….” He started to say but before he could get anything else out, he cleared his throat and looked around the room for a moment. You watched him in anticipation, which only seemed to make him more nervous. “I wanted to tell you a few things. And I know that right here, right now, is probably not the place where you want to hear them, but it’s the only way that I could get to you.”
“Well now you’re unblocked, so can we please do this another time?!” you pleaded with him
“No!” he said quickly, causing you to look up at him in shock. “I need to get this off of my chest before you go out there and tell your father that we’re done!” he said without being able to look you in the eyes.
Hoseok stood up from his chair and walked over to your father’s desk, letting his back face you. “I don’t want you to think that I don’t trust you anymore.” He said just louder than a sigh, “and I don’t want you to think that I don’t like you because of the pregnancy.” Hoseok finally turned around to face you from the desk and you could see that there was a single tear ready to spill out of his eye. “And I understand why…” he said with a broken voice.
You clenched your teeth and your fist into a tight ball as you worried about spilling tears of your own. You could see how this had affected Hoseok and it hurt to know that what you had done had caused him pain, but there was also a sense of relief that he had felt that pain. That you weren’t alone in your own thoughts and feelings. You closed your eyes and a shudder racked through your chest as you tried your best to keep yourself together.
Hoseok quickly cleared the office with a few steps and sat down on his feet in front of you holding your fists to his face as he cried. Slowly, you relaxed your hands and held his face, wiping away his stray tears with your thumbs.
“what’s done is done” you said in a soft whisper.
Hoseok gathered his breath, and he looked up at you. “I know, and I’m sorry that I tried to make the decision about my own wants… I only though of my own happiness before I even considered that this was something that could hurt you.”
You ran a hand over his hair and placed it back to his cheek trying your best to comfort him. “I know, and I’m sorry that I hid it from you.” You admitted “I should have been honest with you, but I was scared and nervous.”
Hoseok tilted his head further into your palm and shut his eyes. “Please…. Please don’t let this ruin everything that we had.” He prayed silently in your hand as you looked down on him.
“Hoseok…” you started and let out a small sob of your own. “I don’t know that it can go back to how it was after this.” You admitted “what happened is still so raw for me.”
“I know, I know.” He repeated and nodded his head “I’m sorry!” he sat up on his knees and reached out for your face to place soft kisses on your cheeks, nose, chin, forehead and eventually your lips. “I just want to be there to help pick up the pieces.” He said looking into your eyes.
You considered it… all of it. The happy moments, the moments of concern, the nights spent together and apart. The tears and the anger. And how the two of you had left each other so easily.
“I want that too…” you admitted “but I’m scared that this will always be there to haunt us.”
Hoseok pulled you down from the chair into his lap and he held you close to his chest. “I will never ever use this to harm you, start arguments, or belittle your character.” He said strongly “y/n, what I want the most is to be able to call you a partner again. And I know that right now you just need some time and space to heal, but I want to continue the contract…with you.”
You pulled back from him after your breathing and tears had settled and you looked up at him, holding onto his broad shoulders. “Are you sure?” you asked him.
He scoffed and gently tucked loose strands of your hair away from your face. “I never wanted to end it in the first place.” He said with a sad chuckle, causing you to look at him confused. “You were the one who had said that we should end things.” He smiled.
You looked down at his chest while you recalled what you had said … “Since we have come to such an outstanding disagreement then I think it’s best that we end our contract here. There’s no point of continuing if we can’t agree on such important principles or trust each other from here on out.”
“You had immediately pulled out the contract and signed it as completed, so what could I do?!” he stated. “You had already made up your mind, before I could even try to work things out.”
You nodded your head, taking ownership of how rash you had come to the decision without letting him discuss his own feelings or pain and how the pregnancy would have altered the relationship between the two of you. You had been the sole provider of your pain instead of talking things out.
“I’m sorry.” you said clearing your throat and wiping away any tear stains on your face. “I don’t really want to end things either, and things have been though lately without you there.” You admitted to him. “But I think before we jump headfirst in again, we should maybe take things slow, while we get everything figured out.”
Hoseok smiled at you and pulled you in once again, embracing you in a full body hug. You were shocked for a single moment before you allowed yourself to find comfort in his embrace again. You smiled to yourself and let out a deep breath, letting the dust settle over the animosity between the two of you.
“I’m okay with slow” Hoseok whispered to you, as he held you close.

“Sometimes you can’t explain what you see in a person. It’s just the way take you to a place where no one else can.”
It’s crazy how much one person can affect you. The moment he moved next door, you always had a feeling that he was going to impact you in ways you wouldn’t seem to understand. He was new to the neighborhood and the only thing you seem to know is only his name... You might not know a single thing about the boy... But that’s what pulls you closer to the boy...
Part of his mystery is how he is calm in the storm and anxious in the quiet.
Part 1~
Masterlist
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Come on, I swear you’re always finding any excuse you can just to stay indoors. I mean don’t you think it’s time to come out of your little shell and live a little?” Your best friend Mi Sun continued saying as she grabbed a hold of your hand trying to pull you off the front step of your house and you sighed.
“It’s not that I don’t want to go out... It’s just...” At this point, you were out of excuses. You were pretty sure you used every excuse there is in the damn book.
“Nope, see you can’t say anything now.” Just as Mi Sun grabbed a hold of your hand and tried to pull you up, you two suddenly stopped when you suddenly noticed a moving truck approaching the two of you... For a second you thought it was about to park right in front of your house but it parked right next door.
“I didn’t know you were getting new neighbors,” Mi Sun says, staring at the trunk right next door and you looked at her and shrugged.
“I had no idea either...” You have been living in your neighborhood for who knows how long, however, you never seemed to ever properly meet your neighbors or ever properly introduce yourself. That kind of thing only happens in movies.
“Anyways! Please just for today? I swear it will be fun... I wouldn’t invite you if I was going to make you suffer.” She had a point but you weren’t convinced. You just stared at your best friend.
She managed to make you stand up. You began to follow behind her but suddenly you changed your mind again.
“Look, no matter how many times you tell me to go out... I just won’t ever be convinced.” You said patting your best friend on the shoulder and she sighed.
You tried to walk off until you noticed your best friend picking up the newspaper that was left in front of your house and she tried to throw it at you however it went past you instead and hit a stranger.
“MI SUN!” You shouted and the stranger immediately turned over after the newspaper hit the back of his head and looked in your direction.
SHIT! What just happened? What did you miss? You quickly ducked as if you were able to hide from the stranger your best friend just hit, however, there wasn’t a bush, not even a fence covering you.
“What the hell do we do now?” You asked your best friend and she awkwardly laughed.
“We could apologize... or we can... RUN!” She shouts and runs off. At that point, you were left abandoned and alone. Is this girl serious? She was the one who threw the newspaper in the first place!
Tumblr media
You looked over at your door and you were planning to hide in there however it was far too late for that...
“I’m assuming this is yours,” you lifted your head, and at that moment when you made eye contact with the stranger, you quickly lifted yourself off the ground and awkwardly looked at the stranger.
Tumblr media
“Uh... Yeah... About that...” How the hell were you the one apologizing for something you didn’t even do in the first place? What is this?
“That newspaper wasn’t for you... It was actually for me... I know that sounds crazy but my best friend was here and she meant to throw it at me but you were in the way and..” At that moment you realized you were blabbing on and on while doing this... You basically told the cute stranger he was in the way... SMOOTH.
“NO! not that you were in the way! I meant to say you were standing in the wrong place at the wrong time,” you said trying to clear the air and although you felt like you fucked up at the very moment, the stranger just simply smiles.
“Well, now as your neighbor I should be more cautious with where I stand,” you left such a great impression on a neighbor who was just moving next door.
“I’m sorry,” you blurted out and he smiled. He was about to say something until...
“Hyung!” He turned his head and then back at you.
“Until next time,” he says looking at you, and walks off. Wait, that was it? Were you not going to learn his name or something? Are you supposed to call him neighbor this whole time?
You turned right around and looked right at your house and walked as fast as you could as you looked down. That’s right you were doing the walk of shame... Your best friend was going to pay for this.
~
Why was he suddenly moving into your neighborhood? Did he not like where he was living or was he possibly running away from something? You quickly shook your head and snapped out of your thoughts.
After that mini incident that happened in the morning, for some strange reason you were suddenly curious to know what his name is. You didn’t understand why... It’s not like you were going to see him again but still...
You snapped out of your thoughts until you suddenly felt your phone vibrating right next to you. You got hold of your phone and noticed your best friend was calling you.
What does she possibly want? You picked up your phone and brought your phone to your ear. You didn’t even want to talk to her, especially after today’s incident. However, you were still going to pick up the call just because she has dealt with you for a long time.
“What?” You answered the call and you could hear her sigh from the other side of the phone.
“I'M SORRY!” She better be sorry... She made you embarrass yourself to your soon-to-be neighbor... And not only is he your neighbor but did you mention that part that he was CUTE... Ugh, must the universe be against you?
“You know because of you, I had to apologize for something I didn’t even do.” You began to complain especially because you don’t say sorry for just anyone but you knew your best friend wasn’t surprised. She should have seen this coming from the beginning.
“Again I’m sorry... What can I do to make this up?” Well, you couldn’t make her apologize however you were sure to come up with something eventually for her to do.
“I don’t know, but for now... Are you trying to possibly get me bubble tea?” You asked your best friend who currently worked at a bubble tea shop and you could hear her giggle.
“You got it,” after that being said the both of you exchanged byes and you were now laying in bed bored out of your mind.
You got up from the bed trying your hardest not to take a mini nap and walked over to your window. By the time you arrived at the window, you noticed that the new neighbor you happened to meet, not by choice, was still removing things off of his truck.
Tumblr media
You could be a kind neighbor and go ask if he possibly needs some help but to be honest you weren’t that kind of person to just walk up to strangers... Second of all, who even does that... You weren’t in some movie where you suddenly become nice to a stranger. Plus your mother always told you not to talk to strangers. And last but not least, although he didn’t show that he didn’t like you... He probably hates your gut just because he thinks you threw something at his damn head...
Just from the thought of what happened earlier you couldn’t help but shake your head and feel embarrassed for something you didn’t do...
You were so lost in your thoughts, you didn’t even notice that you were so caught up with staring at your new neighbor until you have no idea how but something made you snap back into reality.
You shook your head and as you continued to stare out the window you noticed the guy... The new neighbor was staring right at you. Shit.
Tumblr media
Your eyes widened and since you were in the middle of panicking without thinking twice you grabbed a hold of the currents and closed them right in front of you and you quickly backed away from the window and walked over to your bed.
One job... You had one job but you completely ruined that...
He now probably thinks you have this crush on him or maybe worse... He must think that you’re like a low-key stalker... Whatever the case is... He probably looked at you weirdly and that was because of everything that happened today...
He probably thinks he lives next to a complete freak but can you blame the guy?
~
After low-key having a meltdown from embarrassing yourself so damn much in front of a cute neighbor of yours yesterday, you tried to move past that and decided to escape your cocoon for the day and go out.
The moment you stepped out of your house, you would be lying if you were to say you were trying your hardest to stay calm and hope that you didn’t happen to bump into your new neighbor.
You already embarrassed yourself yesterday and today is a whole new day.
As you began to walk everything was fine till suddenly you heard laughing coming from the right. You didn’t want to look just because of the fear you had it was the neighbor.
So instead of looking in that direction, you opened up your purse and tried to look for your pair of headphones. At last, when you got a hold of them, you quickly plugged them into your phone and made sure you had them on. You didn’t feel like talking to just anyone.
Although you thought you could get away with it, you suddenly feel eyes glued to you. You glanced over to your left and could feel not only the cute neighbor's eyes glued to you but someone who appeared to be his friend.
You looked straight ahead and tried your hardest to remain calm and make it out there alive but that all seemed to change when you suddenly see a person running right in front of you.
There you instantly froze and just as you were expecting to see someone familiar however you saw a new face that was unfamiliar to you. You had no idea why this stranger was right there in front of you, however you slowly removed one headphone and continued to look at the stranger a bit confused.
The stranger smiled and you didn’t react, you continued to stand there.
“Hey sorry,” you had no idea why he was even apologizing until you took a look at his hands and there you see a ball in his hand. So he probably grabbed the ball that was probably going to hit you. Duh, now this makes complete sense why a stranger would suddenly appear right in front of you.
“Um... It’s okay, I should have been more careful if anything,” you said trying not to make the stranger feel less bad about themselves.
“No no... My friend over there just sucks at throwing,” he says pointing at your neighbor as he stares at the two of you talking.
“Right...” That was all you managed to say and you didn’t know if now was the time you were about to awkwardly walk away but that stopped when suddenly the stranger continued to stand in front of you sparking a conversation.
“My name is Kihyun, and your name?” He asks as he stretches out his hand leaning in for a handshake.
Tumblr media
“Uh, Y/N,” you said slowly getting a hold of his hand and at that moment the both of you made physical contact and shook hands.
Tumblr media
You continued to look at Kihyun and he looked like he wanted to tell you something however it wasn’t long until his name got called.
“Kihyun!” Your neighbor calls out and he looks over at him and then back at you.
“Ah, guess that’s my cue... But I hope to see you around,” he says smiling brightly and he ran off.
What does he mean to see you again? He doesn’t know a thing about you but your name... But okay. At that point, you put both headphones back into your ears and you were off to your walk.
~
Hoseok’s Point of View
I have no idea what Kihyun's intentions were the moment I noticed he was talking to my neighbor but I knew I had to put a stop somehow. Every time Kihyun and I go out, I’m pretty sure I catch him flirting with different girls all the time.
“Really? Must you interrupt my moment like that?” Kihyun starts saying complaining to me but all I could do was roll my eyes.
“I move to the neighborhood and you’re already trying to make a move? I swear I can’t invite you anywhere,” I said shaking my head as I walked off but Hoseok, of course, followed behind me.
“She was pretty cute,” ah, of course, he would say that.
“You say that about every girl you see,” the both of us walked into my living room and instead of sitting on couches, we sat on the ground.
Can you tell I haven’t made myself at home yet? I was supposed to buy furniture around the house today but a change of plans.
“What lovely home you have here,” Kihyun says sitting right next to me on the ground and I shot him a glare.
“Shush, I know right now it feels empty but when I fix it up... It will look better just give me some time,” I said to Kihyun and he just shrugs and pulls out his phone.
“Anyways, what were you talking to my neighbor about?” I couldn’t help but ask Kihyun even though I already know his intentions were anywhere close to being good.
“Oh, you mean Y/N? Nothing really, you interrupted me before I had the chance to even make my move,” he says glaring at me and I looked at him.
Now that I think about it... Kihyun got to know her name before I did, isn’t that a bit sad? Who am I kidding? Of course, it’s sad.
Hm Y/N?
“Hoseok, are you listening?” I looked over at him and smiled.
“Um... No?” Kihyun shook his head in disappointment but decided to repeat himself anyways.
“Are you planning to invite her to your party?” Kihyun asks and I just shot him a glare.
The last time I had a conversation with her was when she hit me on the back of the head but we didn’t say much, honestly, I didn’t even get to know her name... She doesn’t even know my name...
“How am I supposed to invite the girl when we only spoke once?” I asked Kihyun confused but he shook his head and sighed.
“I swear I need to help you learn how to properly approach girls,” I was going to say something, however, I knew no matter how many times I tell him that I don’t need to follow his tips I can talk to any girl he was still going to lecture me.
“Whatever,”
From that point on I rose from the floor and thought maybe I should drag Kihyun along with me to go look for furniture for this house... It feels practically empty.
“Let’s go,” instead of Kihyun asking me questions he got up from the floor and followed behind me.
~
Your Point of View
This has never happened before... How on earth did you end up socializing with your neighbor... All the neighbors you have had in the past didn’t know who you were. Also, you never knew a single thing about them besides the fact that they live right next to you. No matter how many chances you or your neighbors had to “introduce each other” it just never happened and you were okay with that...
But now that you have this new neighbor it seems like you were going to see him around a lot more than you intend to and you already embarrassed yourself from the start because of your best friend.
“Lord please help me make it alive,” you spoke to yourself as you walked into a coffee shop.
Tumblr media
You were hoping after today that you wouldn’t see your neighbor as often as you did yesterday and today.
Hmm now that you think about it, maybe the only reason you kept seeing him was that he’s just adjusting himself to your neighborhood, however, you were sure that after earlier you probably weren’t going to see him at all...
After that being said you felt relieved.
You smiled as you walked over to the register and looked up at the menu, now what shall you get for today?
~
Hoseok’s Point of View
All I wanted to do was drag Kihyun with me to go buy furniture, however instead he decided to drag me to go buy him some coffee. I always tend to wonder how on earth we even became friends... I shrugged and looked at Kihyun.
“I still don’t understand how thinking of furniture made you want coffee?” I asked looking over at Kihyun and he shrugged.
“Maybe the walk from your house to here made me thirsty,” he says trying to make me feel better, however, all I did was roll my eyes and open the door to the coffee shop.
“Do you want something?” Kihyun asks, looking right at the menu and I look at him. Wow, he was actually willing to buy me something? I should take advantage now before it’s too late.
“Yes, actually I wouldn’t mind an Americano,” Kihyun looked at me and smiled.
“Nothing? Okay, you got it,” wow did he completely ignore what I just said?
I shrugged and as I began to look around the coffee shop I looked to my right and right then and there I saw a familiar face sitting on a table on her own staring out at the window.
Right there I see my neighbor...
I have no idea if I’m going crazy and I’m imagining that she is sitting right there or she is actually in the shop... I looked away and tried to avoid making eye contact however that didn’t last long when Kihyun suddenly noticed her presence and decided to call her out her name.
“Y/N!” Oh, this boy... I don’t understand why he’s like this.
Tumblr media
She didn’t bother looking. Is she ignoring him? Because if she is... Smart girl.
“Y/N,” Kihyun called out again and I continued to stare at her as she looked out the window. I mean if I were the girl I would probably ignore him too, but as I continued to look in her direction I noticed that she had headphones on. Ah...
I glanced over at Kihyun and noticed him suddenly giving up trying to capture her attention and walked over to the register to order our drinks.
To be honest, I’m a little surprised to see Kihyun act so calmly about all of this, however, I would rather not question him.
~
Your Point of View
You had no idea what you were supposed to do on your day off. You don’t socialize with others and you rather stay indoors and watch movies than go out and party.
As you enjoyed drinking your ice coffee you pulled out your phone and had no texts or calls. Hmm well seems like your plans involved blankets, food, and time to be with yourself. The moment you put your phone down, you looked up and jumped as you saw an unexpected figure standing there.
You slowly removed your headphones and stared at the same guy you bumped into earlier... Kihyun.
Tumblr media
“Wow, I never expected it to take this long to get your attention,” Kihyun says, grabbing a chair right in front of you and sitting down and you just stare at him.
Wait, did you tell him to sit? Wait, does he think you guys are friends? You were beyond confused however you have no idea what to say or what to do.
“Um... Sorry I was kind of listening to music,” you said, lifting your earbuds.
Kihyun grabbed a hold of your headphone that you removed and placed it in his ear.
“What are you listening to?”
Before you could say anything you stopped when another figure approached the table. You looked over and saw your neighbor... The one you don’t happen to know what his damn name is...
“Oh no,” you thought you said in your head, however you said it a bit louder than you expected. Kihyun and the guy looked right at you.
“You see what you’ve done Hoseok,” Kihyun blurts out and at last you finally figured out the name of your damn neighbor, however, the moment you did you realized you just opened your mouth and now he probably assumes you hate him which that wasn’t the case.
“What did I do?” Hoseok asks, staring directly at you confused yet offended at the way you reacted when you saw him and you shook your head.
“Oh uh...” You had no idea what to say so the only thing you did was stall right in front of his face.
“Hoseok, she doesn’t like you,” Kihyun says, not making the conversation any better and your eyes widen.
“W-what I didn’t say that,” you quickly corrected him and Kihyun just smiled.
“What did I do?” Hoseok asks, ignoring the fact that you just said you did not say you didn’t like him...
Tumblr media
You didn’t know anything about Hoseok so you couldn’t say that you hated the boy, however, you didn’t understand him and you thought he hated you just because he probably thinks you tried to hit him on purpose however you didn’t have a reason to even hit the guy.
“What?” You blurted out and Kihyun laughed.
To be honest, you had no idea where this conversation was even going, however, you didn’t care, right now all you wanted to do was get up and exit yourself from the scene.
“Mind if we join you,” Kihyun asks even though he was already sitting right in front of you. However, instead of answering, you got up from your seat and grabbed a hold of your drink.
“Actually I um... I should probably get going, I promised my best friend that I was going to meet her up,” that was a complete lie however you were going to do anything you could to leave the scene.
“Do you have friends?” Hoseok suddenly blurts out and questions you out of the blue and it wasn’t long until you looked over at him and felt offended.
You understand why he suddenly decided it was best if he made a comment, however you weren’t trying to be rude to him if Kihyun was sabotaging the situation... You were planning to say something to Hoseok but you realized there was no point.
You turned around and walked off. Whatever... Hoseok can have the last word for now...
~
Hoseok’s Point of View
I have no idea why Y/N would possibly hate me. I mean I just moved right next door and this girl already hates my guts... She first throws something in my direction and now she’s here trying to avoid me...
“Hoseok what did you do to the poor girl?” Kihyun asks, looking over at me and all I do is roll my eyes.
“Oh shush, I didn’t do anything....” Kihyun just rolled his eyes and began to walk off not believing a word I was telling him.
I have no idea what was happening but I mean although the girl probably hates me... For some reason it kind of made me want to be around her a bit more... Maybe just maybe I can show her I’m not going to be a bad neighbor...
But I have no idea how anything is going to turn out.
Who knows...
The Trespasser pt. 20 (M)
You were on top of the world with the new title of leader of your family’s clan. You were the strongest clan in all of the orient and you were proud. But your family feels that there are threats still lurking around making you a target. When they introduce you to a potential man for a business and marriage merger will it help your clan or make matters worse?
fuck dinner you had thought to yourself. The only thing that you had wanted right now was Hoseok and now that there were no injuries or circumstances in the way you were going to have him.
You had pulled back from Hoseok’s hold and held onto his firm face that was so close to your own and gave him a long kiss. There was enough passion, liquor and need between the two of you that Hoseok quickly deepened the kiss into something much rawer and more primal than just need. He opened your mouth and let his tongue explore yours, teeth clashing and soft moans escaping from the two of you. He wrapped his hands around your back once more and pulled you flush to his chest crushing all of the air out of your body. Even though the two of you were as close as you could be to each other he still had to have you nearer, clawing at your back as he pulled you impossibly closer.
You were forced to pull away from the kiss and catch your breath and as you did so Hoseok quickly let go of you, spun around to the stove top, turned off the burner and then dragged you by the hand into your bedroom. It had all happened so fast that you could barely think ahead and before you knew it you were flat on your back on the bed, gasping for air and eyes wide in shock.
 You weren’t expecting for him to be so rough with you, but you definitely weren’t disappointed with it. Quite the contrary, you like this side of Hoseok. If anything, rough was more of your sexual preference… and it was completely new with him making the entire experience more thrilling.
Without any moment’s hesitation Hoseok unbuttoned his shirt one by one not ever moving his eyes away from your own. And as you watched him with excitement you couldn’t help but lick your lips in anticipation. Hoseok smiled down at you as he reached his final button and as soon as it was unclasped, he let his shirt fall to the floor off of his arms naturally. He walked closer to you and stood in front of your legs that hung off the side of the bed limply. He grabbed the hem of your pants and he slowly unbuttoned and unzipped them and then slowly stood up and pulled them off of you from their ankles.
As soon as he had them off, he threw them away to the side and immediately stepped towards you again. His hands drifted up your legs from your ankles up to your thighs softly causing shivers to roll down your spine. As soon as his hands reached past the curve of your thighs your legs gently squeezed together with need. You had needed him to touch you and soothe the ache that was in your panties, and you could feel your juices lubing up in anticipation. But as soon as he had reached the hem of your panties, he had passed them reaching up towards your stomach.
You had let out a soft sigh in disappointment and Hoseok smiled down at you knowing full well that he was torturing you.
“Raise up a little baby” Hoseok softly whispered
And you had immediately complied, raising up and watching him as he raised your shirt over your chest, but instead of discarding it he had pulled your arms together and used the shirt to bind your hands together at your wrists. You looked up at him in shock and excitement and Hoseok gave you a lustful and deviant grin.
“Be a good girl and keep that on” he said to you softly
you were going to respond to Hoseok but he quickly sealed your mouth with a kiss. You had arched into his kiss pushing your chest up into his own but as soon as you had reciprocated the kiss he was gone. You let out a grunt of irritation. Every time that you got even a small touch or kiss Hoseok made sure that he gave you just enough before he took it away again. Constantly keeping you wanting for more, making you needier and needier for him by the second. Edging you closer and closer to completely losing control with maddening lust.
He slowly kissed his way down your neck and across your chest, making sure to adore and worship each curve and slope of your body. He pulled your bra down forcefully, exposing your breasts to him. Softly he took a nipple into his mouth, and he sucked on it allowing his tongue to lap at your areolas and nibble softly at your hardening nipples. You wanted nothing more than to run your fingers through his hair and pull on his gorgeous locks. But each time that you attempted to move your hands you were reminded of the soft restraints that bound you together. You lowered both of your arms so that they rested on his back and bent them at the elbow so you could touch and play with his silky hair.
You ran your fingers through his hair and lightly grazed his scalp with your nails and Hoseok let out a soft moan. It had radiated into your skin letting vibrations tingle its way across your stomach and chest and down to your aching pussy. You had tugged harder on his hair trying to initiate this response again, desperate for any sensation that you could get.
But before you could follow through with it Hoseok had released you from his mouth and began placing kitten licks and kisses down your stomach until he had come face to face with your still clothed womanhood. He bit his lip, and he softly traced the tips of his fingers across your clothed folds. He smiled like the devil when he felt your juices seep through the cotton fabric causing it to dampen and darken.
He consistently teased you and played with you through your underwear causing you to cry and whimper. You wanted nothing more than for him to rip your panties off and fill you up. You were tired of being teased and not getting anything other than constant desire for more.
“Hoseok please” you begged out quietly to him
“please what?” he asked back cocky as ever, knowing exactly what he was doing to you.
You stared up at him now with a mixture of need, desperation and frustration. You were needy enough that you would have given in and begged for him just to touch you, kiss you or do more of anything. But the inner brat in you wanted for him to do his worst to you. You wanted for him to feel just as desperate for you, that when he finally did touch you it drove the both of you crazy. You wanted him to fuck you hard and desperately like a mad man desperate for his release just like you were. So instead of telling him all of the nasty and degrading things that you wanted him to do to you, you simply whimpered out another “please…. Hoseok” willing for the torture to go on.
Hoseok made small chiding noises with his tongue and instead of pressing into you further he sat back onto his heels and stared down at you as if he had just been denied the world’s best desert. And technically he had. He let out a soft huff of air and then without missing a single beat he had you pinned down to the mattress with your legs bent to your chest and your arms trapped. He held your legs down with a single arm and the other hand had slipped around your panties and into your wet folds.
You were so wired up that when the friction of his fingers had grazed your insides you let out a pathetic cry of release. He wiggled the tips of his fingers stretching you out from the inside of your pussy as he stared down into your eyes. And as you tried your best to look back at him, you couldn’t help but squeeze them shut as you let out guttural groans.
“tell me…” he said as he slowly withdrew his fingers from inside of you forcing you to feel the absence inch by inch “tell me what you want”
Your eyes rolled to the back of your head and your mouth gasped wide open in a silent cry as he slowly slid his digits in and out of you. His long fingers grazed against your walls and hit your g-spot perfectly each time as he plunged them all the way inside of you.  Your body froze up and you knew that if he were to play with you any more that you would cum.
Your eyes rolled to the back of your head, and your mouth gasped wide open in a silent cry. Your body froze up, leaving you paralyzed in his hands as he continued to give you the slow torture. But he quickly caught on and as soon as you were at the peak of your high he removed his fingers slowly. When they were completely removed you found yourself grinding your hips, desperately needing for his fingers to be back inside of you. But as your emptiness continued to ease your orgasm you couldn’t hold it in any longer.
“please Hoseok, fuck me!” you shamelessly screamed at him, too desperate to wait any longer.
Hoseok smiled down at you and released your legs from their current position, allowing them to fall numbly to your sides again. You deeply inhaled and tried to calm yourself down as you watched him eying your body and the wet slick that pooled through your underwear and down to the sheets.
As soon as he was content with what he had done to you he grabbed you firmly by the hips and flipped you over onto your knees, belly down and ass up in the air. You had quickly gathered yourself and spread your legs for him wide enough for him to fit and sunk down as far as possible into the mattress with your tied hands in front of you and your chest firmly pressed into the mattress.
Hoseok sat back patiently as he unzipped his pants and pulled down his boxers, allowing for his cock to spring free. He hissed as he felt the blood circulate to his excruciatingly hard member, no longer restrained by his boxers and jeans. He pumped himself once, twice, three times slowly as he tried to release some of his own pent up sexual frustration before he came too quickly inside of you. He wanted to make this night one that you would always remember. He wanted for this night to be something that you touched yourself thinking of. One that you dreamt of and craved to have over and over again.
As soon as you were settled he reached out to you squeezing your ass roughly and then delivered a single rough slap that was just painful enough to feel good. He pulled your body closer to his and he found his spot behind you and quickly aligned his member up with your entrance. He held his breath and then released it quickly as he slammed his cock into you so rough that you let out a guttural groan by the sheer force.
Hoseok picked up his foot and placed it outside of your right leg resting his weight only on his left knee. He leaned forward to grab hold of your hair into a make shift pony tail and wrapped it once around his fist, locking your head firmly in place. You let out a soft whimper as soon as you had felt your additional restraint and Hoseok used that opportunity to whisper down into your ear.
“who’s pussy is this?” he asked
You had let out a grunt in absolute satisfaction. You smiled to yourself when you felt your walls clench around hoseok’s cock. But, unfortunately for hoseok your lack of an answer was not the appropriate response.
Hoseok quickly delivered another rough blow to your ass and you lurched forward in surprise.
“I said” Hoseok’s grip on your hair became firmer “…who’s pussy is this?” he asked with clenched teeth
“yours!” you bit out quickly “it’s yours!”
Hoseok gave you a soft kiss on your shoulder, completely contradicting how rough he had been with you just a moment ago and it made you shiver.
“good girl.” He said with a chuckle “now…get yourself off on this cock you wanted so badly” he said leaning back
It only took a few seconds for the words that he had said to register in your brain and you quickly threw your hips back into his own. You bounced into him as smoothly and quickly as possible as you tried to get yourself off and achieve your orgasm again. You could practically feel yourself reeling and your pussy pulsing around him as you forced him to slide in and out of you repeatedly. You had slowed down your tempo in an effort to catch your breath for a moment, but Hoseok had quickly retaliated.
Hoseok delivered a harsh slap once more and you had began to furiously move your hips onto his own. Hoseok was making it abundantly clear that he was dominant in this scenario and that you had to please him for him to please you. you didn’t worry about the pain in your knees and arms as you tried your best to continue moving and keep yourself stable.
You closed your eyes and focused on the movements that you made, feeling that slapping of skin against skin and the way that his head and long shaft had stretched and pulled at your walls. The pressure that his cock put on your body as he bottomed out in you and the feeling of his control slowing starting to unravel as his hold on your hair began to weaken and weaken as your thrusts continued.
“fuck yeah baby… keep going” he grunted out with labored breaths
You continued to throw your hips back like a woman possessed, but quickly there after Hoseok had completely let go of your hair and held you down in place. With one hand on the small of your back and the other on your hip Hoseok began to pound into you roughly. you could feel all of your senses beginning to blur as an orgasm began to peak and your body completely went frozen as your pussy pulsed around Hoseok’s dick, trying desperately to get as much friction and depth from him. You began to feel yourself pushing back into his hips harder as you sought out your high and your shoulders and arms went completely limp underneath you.
You let out a long gasp as you felt the final push that sent you over the edge, stomach convulsing and legs shaking threatening to give out on you.
“oh shit” Hoseok said out loud in a cry as he slowed his movements down, trying to stop himself from cumming as well. There was no way that he was going to call it quits now.
As soon as he was sure that you were done with your orgasm he pushed you over to your side and then grabbed your legs, forcing you back into your knees to chest position. He held onto your legs with one hand and with the other he dipped his fingers deep into your pussy once more and then forced the digits into your mouth. You swallowed and lapped at his fingers without a second thought, relishing in how inebriated he made you feel.
“that’s right baby taste how delicious you are” he whisper growled down to you
You moaned around his fingers and he withdrew them as soon as he was satisfied with how clean they were. He pulled his hand back and to your complete shock he slapped your pussy before gathering each of your legs in a hand and bottoming out inside of you once more. you gasped and stared up at him with your eyes wide and eyebrows furrowed but your mouth was quickly shut as he continued his needy thrusts in and out of you.
The position that you were in caused for you to become tighter around Hoseok and it drove you completely insane. All of the sensation and feeling that you had felt twice as good. The places that Hoseok hit inside of you were magnified and deeper and you could feel every inch of him inside of you, causing you to quickly spiral into a slur of profanities.
“oh fuck Hoseok!” you let out breathlessly “shit”
“you like it when I fuck you like a little whore?” he asked as he continue his frantic pace
“fuck yes!” you immediately responded, biting your bottom lip as you struggled to hold on to your composure
“you’re mine!” Hoseok growled as he forced himself into you roughly with a slap of skin against skin “my personal little cum slut” he bottomed out in you again
You were beginning to shake and convulse around Hoseok as another orgasm was on the edge of completely consuming you, causing Hoseok to momentarily pause. He looked down at where the two of you were connected and then looked up at you with a pained expression.
“im gonna fill you up with all of my cum…” he pulled out slowly “and then fuck you again and again” he slid back in “until your just dripping with all of my seed” back out.
You couldn’t respond to him with anything other than whimpers and cries of pleasure. Your vision had gone completely white and your ears rang as your body shivered and contorted uncontrollably. you were exhausted and ready to pass out in pure bliss, but as Hoseok continued to pump in and out of you he only dragged your orgasm on even longer.
“shit…” Hoseok bit out in a grunt that was almost completely unintelligible  as he came to a complete still on top of you
You could finally breathe now that he had stopped moving, but just as the overwhelming pleasure had seized you could feel the hot streams of his cum squirting and filling you up inside. You looked up at Hoseok with a cloudy gaze as realization hit you that he had finally came, and as soon as he made eye contact he leaned forward to give you a quick soft kiss.
“you are so fucking sexy” he whispered to you with a smile and you couldn’t help but smile back and giggle in response.
The two of you laid there in complete stillness for a few minutes as the two of you caught your breath. Neither of you had said a thing to one another or even dared to move from your last position, you were too sensitive. But within about fifteen minutes you could feel a pressure and tingling inside of you as Hoseok began to get hard again inside of you.
You looked up at Hoseok with a fascinated and shocked expression. You were entirely too exhausted to go another round, but Hoseok had no intentions of getting sleep any time soon.
“I need to sit.”
Na bi peered into the darkness and her eyes fell on a couch at the far end of the room. Changkyun simply watched, buttoning his sleeves as she pushed with all her might, bringing it to the centre and plopping down on it. Her legs sure thanked her, but the fire in the pits of her stomach had reignited as she looked at him from a considerably lower and painstaking angle, standing before the table.
“Why are you here Ms. Baek?”
Na bi pursed her lips in thought. Honestly, she forgot. The sight of him had blown every ounce of reasoning out of her head. Sure, driving the car down an empty freeway at 140 kmh had adrenaline coursing through every inch of her body and yeah, maybe her ‘interaction’ earlier with that gentleman in the club had gotten her to some kind of high but she didn’t think she would ever find it this hard to get it together. There was nothing she could really process except him and the slender yet sculpted build of his body. He didn’t look very menacing but he didn’t seem like he was gentle either. Na bi wondered if he was the kind who liked it slow and teasing or hard and fast, not that she would have a problem with either-
Crossing her legs to keep it all in, she leaned back into the softness of the couch, mentally and physically pushing herself to the maximum possible distance away from this man.
“Who are you?”
“You already asked me that.” The corners of his lips curled into a smile. “And I already answered.”
“And I heard you.” She tilted her head in question. “But I’ve never heard of you before.”
“Not many have.” He tucked his hands into his pockets. “I am a myth Ms. Baek. The knowledge of my existence is a privilege.”
Na bi let her eyes scan him down then up. Recalling the way he stayed concealed in the shadows the first time she met him, she scoffed. “Privilege or liability?”
When he didn’t clarify, she clicked her tongue, shaking her head dramatically. “So you are hiding.” She sighed. “That's sad; you were a lot more interesting when you didn’t admit to being a coward.”
Changkyun smiled, unaffected. “I don’t expect or need you to understand Ms. Baek. Ignorance is a luxury people like you can afford.”
Maybe if Na bi was less drunk, she would have been sensible enough to be offended by that but she simply pouted. “Enlighten me then.”
“What you call cowardice is gameplay Ms. Baek.” He leaned against the desk behind him. “My identity is irrelevant, so I choose anonymity. I let my work speak for itself.”
“So who gets, as you call it, the privilege of knowing who you are?”
“The few who have business with me, my men” He cocked his head, looking at her. “And you.”
Na bi felt a strange combination of fear, exhilaration and curiosity grip her all at once.
“No one else?”
Changkyun shook his head.
She took a minute to take it all in. She should have been more afraid. She really should.
“Sounds a little unfortunate if you ask me.” He raised an eyebrow as she leaned towards him, half whispering. “Having all this power and no one afraid of it.”
“I don’t seek fear because I don’t thrive on it Ms. Baek.” He mirrored her, leaning too. “Imagine what I could have done to you if fear was what I wanted.”
Na bi felt a single bead of sweat roll down her neck.
“Then what do you want from me? Why are your men stalking me?” When Changkyun looked at her expressionlessly, she rolled her eyes. “Don’t deny it. They haven’t been subtle and I’m not blind.”
“No, you’re not.” She could practically hear the amusement in his voice, like he had observed the way her eyes were all over him.
He walked around his desk, pulled open the drawer, taking out a familiar picture and threw it onto the wooden surface of the table. Na bi got up, walking closer to it, picking the photo of Ana in her hands, the same one Wonho had shown her that night.
“That’s from the cctv of my headquarters a few days ago. Your friend Ana, turned up at a location that no one other than me and my men know of, asking for me, by my name."
Na bi frowned. “How did she know where to find you?”
“Your skipping sequence Ms. Baek” Changkyun walked past her, sitting down on her chair. “How did she even know of my existence in the first place? The range of my business acquaintances does not extend to people like her.”
“How do you suppose she knew?”
He hummed. “Assumption is judgement’s biggest enemy Ms. Baek. I was hoping to have a conversation with her to let her explain herself, but that was the last time anyone had seen or heard from her.” Na bi didn’t even realise when he got hold of the lighter he began playing with. “And incidentally, while looking for her-”
“-your men kidnapped me.”
He nodded. “It was a mistake and it is my fault you got roped in this mess and so, it’s only fair that until all this gets over, I look out for you.” Changkyun watched her face scrunched in confusion. “Ms. Baek, there are a lot of dark and dangerous things hidden in the shadows of Seoul. My identity holds a higher value than you can imagine. Should anyone get the idea that you might have even the slightest clue as to who I am, they would hunt you down for answers.”
“So, all these days, your men were…” Na bi blinked at a loss of words. “Protecting me?"
He gave a small nod.
Na bi stared at him. Of all the reasons she had imagined for his men stalking her, this was nowhere on the list.
“You’re telling me that rather than eliminating someone who might be a threat to your identity which you apparently so carefully safeguard, you chose to employ your men to work round the clock to protect her? All because she was a mistake?” Na bi stared at him incredulously before letting out a surprising short laugh. “Oh, you absolute asshole.”
For the first time, Changkyun’s expression betrayed his thoughts – it was a mixture of annoyance, confusion and amusement all in one.
“Either you habitually don’t think twice before you talk,” His voice was suddenly a lot deeper. “Or you’re not afraid of much when you’re drunk Ms. Baek.”
“Please,” She scoffed. “I’m not afraid of much when I’m sober either. There is not much to fear if you’re not afraid of death, and I see death every day.”
Na bi walked up to him, her shadow falling on his darkening expression.
“You’re not protecting me and this is not just about Ana. Someone like her cannot possibly be a threat to you.”
The image of those armed men in Ana’s house flashed in Na bi’s head. The only reason another group of dangerous people were after Ana had to be for Changkyun.
“Someone else is looking for you. Someone who is a part of those dark and dangerous things you claim are in the shadows of Seoul. Evidently, they are aware that Ana has you all figured it out and they knowing getting to her means getting to you, but you....You don’t know who they are, do you?”
She walked around the chair, her fingers tracing it.
“Ana was your only link to them but she’s missing. You knew, whoever they are, if they learn of me, they will come after me instead. That’s why I’m alive, that’s why I’m being monitored. I’m bait, aren’t I?”
She leaned down, meeting him eye to eye.
“Or did I misjudge the depth of your character?”
Now that she was much closer to him, her eyes once again began wandering across his face and she wondered why she was not more annoyed or aggravated at the realisation of how she was being recklessly played around by him. Changkyun on the other hand was silent for a whole minute, looking right back into her eyes before his lips curled into a smile.
“I think I misjudged the level of your intelligence Ms. Baek.”
Na bi pulled herself back feeling victorious but he got up, on his feet, eliminating the little distance she put between them. “But you are transparent and lack depth so you think everyone is as one dimensional as you are.” This time she felt her fists ball in anger. “Had you not given in to your saviour complex and unnecessarily curious nature, you wouldn’t have become the potential target that you are now. It’s not me but you who brought you to where you are,” He took the picture from her, freeing her hands. “But just because there were other reasons to keep my eye on you, doesn’t mean I wasn’t looking out for you.”
Na bi knew those were empty words from him but she couldn’t help but feel a weight drop in her stomach. It didn’t help that he was standing so close, and it helped even less when Na bi took a step closer to him, doing the top button of his vest that he had missed.
“Prove it then.” She smoothened the fabric on his chest nonchalantly before looking up at him. “Take me home.”
“Wonho will drop you- “
“Not him. You.”
He sighed. “Ms. Baek. If you haven’t figured out already, I don’t come out in the open.”
“You said you wanted to protect me, didn’t you?” She licked her drying lips. “So, it’s you or no one.”
Changkyun’s eyes flickered down there, just for a second before he met her eyes again. “I’m inviting trouble keeping you around, aren’t I?”
Na bi smiled as she walked out, knowing he would follow.
The ride to her house was pretty silent.
In that half an hour, Na bi understood Changkyun wasn’t much of a talker. If she had nothing to say, neither did he. Conveniently enough though, he would at least answer her questions when she had any and she had very few questions.
Okay, she only had one question.
“Are you getting married?”
Changkyun momentarily took his eyes off the road to throw her a glance, clearly not expecting that of all things. Well, he for starters, he was all suited up - not a crease in sight, not a hair out of place, smelling like a very distracting combination of whiskey and roses but the watch on his hand, it looked old, like a choice of sentiment rather than style.
“You look very marry-able right now.”
“Why Ms. Baek,” His voice was laced with amusement. “Would you like to?”
“Hell no.” Na bi scoffed, looking out of the window at all the buildings whizzing by. Sure, she was attracted to him, hormones and alcohol clearly amplifying it all but that was about it. “You and I can’t possibly be meant to be.”
Changkyun hummed. In thought? In agreement? She had no idea. But that was the only conversation they had the whole way home. She wanted to ask more; of course, she wanted to. Curiosity was Na bi’s fatal flaw but either this really expensive BMW’s smooth navigation was lulling her to sleep or Seoul’s air was laced with some sort of sedative tonight – whatever it was, she was progressively losing grip over herself, so uncharacteristically, she shut up.
When the car came to a stop in front of her building, Na bi rolled her head over to look at Changkyun – he was already looking at her. She definitely wanted to say something, either a thank you or goodnight, but whatever it was, under his gaze, yet again, she forgot. Not a word was exchanged, neither was any emotion - there was no sadness over a goodbye, no longing to see each him again. But in the silence of the night and the small space that held them at an arm’s distance from each other, there was one thing that was definitely there – a meaningless craving. A desire so electrifying that she could practically taste it in the air and feel it in the way every cell in her body was fighting the idea of just pulling him closer. Na bi wondered if he felt that too; she couldn’t tell.
When Changkyun made the slightest movement towards her Na bi immediately felt her breath get stuck in her throat and her heart race in her chest. At first, he simply unbuckled her seat belt and she had begun to get disappointed but then she felt him lean closer. Though this was exactly what she wanted, though he was what her body was so desperately seeking, Na bi felt her eyes close reflexively, her hands gripping whatever it could on the seat.
“The lights are on.”
Frowning, her eyes flew open to see Changkyun still a considerable distance from her, his eyes fixed on something else entirely, far behind her. Following his line of vision, she realised he was staring at the windows of her house, the only one with lights on at 3am.
“Yeah well,” She hoped to god he didn’t notice her reaction earlier. “I don’t live in the dark.”
“Did you leave them on before you left?”
She shrugged unable to remember. Changkyun’s expression darkened as he unbuckled his own seatbelt and stepped out of his car, making her hurriedly mirror his actions.
“Wait,” Na bi pointlessly lowered her voice. “You think they found me?”
He continued staring at the window for a moment before he quickly made his way into her building and up the stairs. Swearing under her breath and barely able to balance herself, Na bi followed, stupidly trying to keep up with a man who seemed to move at the speed of light. By the time they climbed four floors and had reached her house, she was a panting mess but he was still perfect, not a crease, not a hair out of place.
“9963.” She blurted, giving him the password to her door, only belatedly realising what she had done. Before she could fully comprehend the consequences of her actions, he opened her door and stepped in. Standing by the frame, Na bi watched, still out of breath and in awe as he moved around so cautiously and so quietly, like he was made of a gas or something. It took a good five minutes of looking around before the tightness in his shoulders finally relaxed and he turned to her.
“Looks like you’re safe.”
“And of course you sound disappointed.” Na bi mumbled under her breath.
The trap they were using her to set up still hadn’t led them to their prey. If only he had managed to get his hands on someone tonight, if only he got the answers he was looking for, a lot of her problems could have been solved. Kicking off her shoes, she walked in, sinking into the couch. Changkyun’s eyes followed her across the room.
“Are you going to leave now?”
Na bi looked up at the man, pushing her urges down yet again for the nth time now. Earlier today, when he called her transparent, he was right. There was nothing hidden in the way she looked at him – the desire in her eyes was as clear as day.
But his gaze was as dark as the night. He seemed so layered and unreadable and as much as she wanted to unravel all that he kept hidden away in the shadows, she didn’t think she should. Some things were meant to hold on to, and some weren’t and as Na bi herself had claimed earlier, this wasn’t meant to be. She had to let him go.
“Stay.”
Tumblr media
“Dr. Baek, are you listening to me?”
Instantly snapping out of her trip down the memory lane, Na bi looked up at her attending and the entire team looking at her, waiting. Realising that she had in fact, not been listening, her eyes quickly flickered between the patient’s vitals on the screen and the paper in her hand. Swallowing on nothing, she took a shot in the dark, praying to whatever gods were out there that she had analysed the situation right.
“Yeah, yeah, I shall uh… do a head CT and set him up for an LP?”
That eyebrow of her attending raised in question, lowered a little. “And get his fever under control.”
Na bi quickly nodded, taking notes and sighing inwardly with relief as the team continued the morning rounds. Close. She had been letting her mind wander a bit too much. Not only was the horrible hangover headache making it hard to stay grounded to reality, her thoughts too were all over the place, mostly trying recollect the events of last night which she had navigated drunk off her face. Now was neither the time nor the place for it but clearly, self-control was not one of Na bi’s virtues. It was only when the patient next to her violently retched and threw up onto the floor that she finally got it together and put her thoughts behind her.
An hour and three separate crises-es later, Na bi found herself catching a short break as she walked down the corridor from the pantry, looking out of the window at the greying sky. Seoul was uncharacteristically gloomy today. Peeling the orange in her hand, she popped a piece in her mouth, eyes scouring through the crowd of people scattered around, looking at their feet in particular. No combat shoes.
When Na bi woke up that morning, the sun was already way up in the sky, giving her just enough time to quickly change into a fresh pair of clothes, grab her bag and run out of her house. It was only when she had finished gobbling her breakfast and finally had some substantial energy in her that she noticed the absence of Changkyun’s men - There was no one in combat boots.
She didn’t know how to feel about that. It was evident from last night that Changkyun’s enemy, whoever that was, hadn’t identified her yet so she was in no immediate danger but she didn’t still understand the sudden disappearance of her apparent protection squad. The voice of reason in her head told her that she was merely a pawn in whatever game Changkyun was playing and this was probably just another one of his moves. Her gut feeling though, begged to differ – it said something had to have gone wrong.
It was when both voices that were battling it out in her head that she felt a tap on her shoulder and the orange peel in her hand was replaced by a small bottle.
“Drink up.”
Na bi turned to see Seokmin, her closest friend at work handing her the hangover tonic he frequently used.
“Hell no, that’s bitter as fuck.”
“Get it together Baek.” He crossed his arms. “This is a hospital; you’re a doctor and you look like shit.”
“Thanks.” She murmured, cracking the seal open, trying not to taste the horrible liquid as she drank it.
“What happened last night?”
Na bi drank slower to avoid answering. He did kindly invite her out last night and so she did owe him some sort of explanation but what even was she supposed to say? I shot a man in the leg, stole his car, met up with a mafia leader, insisted he drive me home and then we…. It sounded absolutely insane even in her head, who would even believe her?
First off, mafia supposedly didn’t even exist in Seoul. After the famous Crime WipeOut operation back in 2011, the streets were declared ‘crime free’ – the cops had been advertising their success with that phrase for years now. But everyone knew that was not true. Working in the emergency room, Na bi especially knew that was not true. Every other day, people would walk in with all sorts of injuries, claiming they “fell down the stairs” or “got hit by a car” when their wounds clearly told another story. No one would dare question them though, not when they could feel the outline of a weapon in their pockets.
And now Na bi’s encounter last night had confirmed facts. Mafia very much did exist in Seoul and somehow suddenly, thanks to one man, she found herself deep, right in the middle of it all. It would be unfair to Seokmin to drag him into it too.
“I wish I remembered it all.” That was as honest as she could get with him - there was indeed a big gap in her memory of last night's events that she just couldn't recollect no matter how hard she tried.
Tumblr media
“I need my blue pajamas.” Na bi put down the seat of the toilet and sat on it, crossing her legs, feeling much better having thrown up. She was definitely talking to Changkyun about something before she felt her stomach turn and ran to bathroom - she tried hard to remember what exactly that conversation was about again but it was pointless, she had no idea. The earlier suited man who now somehow only had his white shirt on, appeared by the door, holding out a navy-blue set of pajamas but she shook her head. “Not these ones.”
“Nearly everything in there is blue.”
“I like blue.”
“This is blue.”
“But this is not the blue I like.”
Changkyun didn't reply but his silence was loud.
“What? Didn’t you say you wanted to make sure I’m safe?”
“And safety includes a specific blue pajama?”
Na bi slid off the toilet and walked past him to her wardrobe, pouting. “I feel safe in those blue pajamas.”
She scoured through her clothes while he stood behind her, not too close but perhaps close enough to catch her if she stumbled.
“These.” She held up an old, faded pair of sky-blue pajamas. “These belong to my sister but this is me.” She pointed at the print of small white butterflies on the fabric then to herself. “Baek Na bi. White butterfly.”
And then without a warning to herself or him, Na bi pulled her shirt over her head, stripping out of her clothes. At that point, Changkyun who’s eyes were focused on her all this while, looked away, making her suddenly very conscious of her actions. Actions she didn’t seem to put much thought into; which wasn’t very unlike her but something felt different today - it was almost like she was made of two minds. Unfortunately, the second one was hell bent on being honest and irrational.
“I think…” She pulled up her pants, adjusting the elastic, looking him up then down. “I think I’m really attracted to you.”
He turned to look at her with a raised eyebrow, looking amused. “I think you should sleep Ms. Baek.”
Something did a somersault in Na bi’s chest. “With you?”
.
.
“Would you like to?” He leaned against her dresser, crossing his arms.
.
.
.
She mimicked him, leaning back against her wardrobe.  “Very much.”
.
.
.
When those words left her mouth, Na bi had no idea what she expected the consequences to be. She had no idea what exactly transpired between them after that either.
As far she remembered, they were on opposite ends of the room and she was looking into his unreadable eyes for just one clue about what he wanted. Then, suddenly, somehow, they were standing right across each other, inches apart in a loud silence where she could only hear her heart race in her chest. She didn't know if Changkyun felt even an ounce of what she was feeling, or if he too wanted her as much as she craved him and there was only one way to find out.
Lord knows where Na bi got the courage, or why she gave into the stupidity but impulsively, she got on her tiptoes, hands grabbing his shirt to pull him closer and let her lips softly brush his, which to her surprise, parted. Na bi saw a hundred different things flash in his eyes, but none of them seemed like a no, so she kissed him again, more certain this time, closing the gap till there was nothing between them. His hands grabbed her waist as she stumbled, setting off something hot in her chest.
And just like that they walked back entwined, lips not leaving each other till the back of his knees hit her bed, prompting her to push him onto it, finally giving them the space to breathe. Changkyun looked up at her with his hooded eyes, his hands sinking into the comforter behind him. There was something undeniably hot about him just sitting on her bed like that, doing nothing but watching her. He was letting her make the moves.
And so she did, standing between his thighs, taking his face into her hands, leaning forward to kiss him once again. She didn’t know if his arm wrapped around her, pulling her into his lap, or if she climbed on the bed, straddling him, but here they were, just mouths moving, tongues roaming and hearts beating real fast. Na bi felt herself getting lost in that pleasure, her hips naturally finding a rhythm against him but his arm around her held her in place. He lifted her and with a swift motion, her back hit the bed and he was hovering above her, exploring her face with his eyes. She pushed the strand of his hair which escaped its place, before she noticed the small healed wound on his eyebrows, her fingers tracing them.
“What happened here?”
One breath.
Then two.
“Hit the corner of the table when I was running away.”
“Running away from what?”
“The people who killed my family.”
Na bi blinked – she did not expect that candor. Or his lack of hesitation.
She stroked it softly, “Does it still hurt?”
What a pointless question. The wound looked old, like it had been years since he got it. Na bi realised with a pang in her chest that he must’ve been young when this happened. It must hurt like hell.
She propped herself on her elbows and reached up, planting a small kiss on it, obviously a very apt medical solution. “Better?”
For the first time, he let out a soft laugh, a genuine one.
Na bi kissed it again and again and again, slowly making her way down his face, finding his lips with hers once more. Yet again, time was lost on her. She just felt an undeniable, craving need for him, to feel him, to own him. This is what it must feel like to burn from within.
She let herself sink into the softness of her comforter, freeing her hands to unbutton his shirt when his arm under her tightened pushing her up her bed, neither action hindering their mouths on each other. Na bi had her fair share of experience with men but nothing ever felt like this and they weren't even doing much. The attraction she felt towards him was like never before, it didn't even allow her to think rationally. She knew they should stop - she was drunk and he was a stranger, a dangerous one at that, but she couldn't bring herself to. And just as she wondered if he too could not stop himself, she felt him pull back.
“Na bi….” His voice was so soft? “You should sleep.”
“Don’t want to….” She muttered, pulling him closer, but he didn’t give in.
“Sleep.”
He rolled off her as she groaned, pulling herself together, curling up into a comfortable position. He was right - even though she wanted him, her body needed sleep. And to stop this madness. She tucked her palm under her head and watched him by the frame of her bedroom door, buttoning his shirt, looking back at her.
She had expected him to be gone before she knew it.
“Aren’t you going to go?”
“I’ll leave when you sleep.”
The stomach somersaults were back.
“Will I ever see you again?”
He didn’t answer her question.
“Don’t go around doing something stupid.”
She chuckled, pulling her sheets closer, feeling her eyes flutter shut under the warmth of the covers. “You don’t mean that." She yawned. "Because if I don’t then your enemies won’t find me. And if they don’t find me, you won’t find them.”
“Ms. Baek,” Na bi looked at him one last time as sleep finally took her in. “Please don’t do anything stupid.”
Tumblr media
Trying to ignore Changkyun’s last words still ringing in her mind, Na bi pulled herself back to reality, continuing the conservation. “I should’ve let you know before I left Min-ah, sorry.”
“Yeah, you should’ve.” Seokmin leaned against the window. “I worry about safety. It can get crazy out there.”
Na bi nodded. He had no idea.
She had no idea about a lot of things either.
She had no idea what Changkyn’s actions last night meant. Or his words. Was he attracted to her? If he was then why did he stop? And if he wasn’t, didn’t that mean he was using her, just like she suspected he was? And if he was using her then why did he ask her not to do anything crazy? How was she of any use to him if she wasn’t an efficient trap? Or was she wrong? Was she not a bait? And he truly mean what he said about looking out for her? But if he did mean that then where were all his men today??
Na bi felt like she could crush the bottle she was holding with her bare hands. All these questions were just turning into a never-ending loop that she was stuck right in the middle of with no answers and no escape. She needed to get her mind off all this.
“Crazy workload today?” She pointed at all the case files in her friend's hand, desperate for a change of topic. He shook his head, looking down at the corridor as a patient was wheeled out, white sheet covering their face. When a hand slipped from under the covers from the inertia, Na bi noticed the cut across the wrist.
“There was nothing I could do.” Seokmin sighed. “He bled out.”
“Cut that deep?”
“Two cuts. One on each wrist.”
Na bi felt the bile rise in her throat.
“Let me guess, family doesn’t suspect any foul play?”
“The usual.”
Seokmin handed the files to the intern who meekly walked up to him before she took them and rushed off.
Everyone in the ER knew of these cases, Na bi had seen a couple of them up close before – cases determined as self-inflicted injury, completely ignoring the fact that it was not one but two clean cuts on both wrists. Anyone with a pair of eyes and a brain could tell that was clearly not self inflicted but somehow, these cases would never reach the point of investigation. The family didn't dare push them and medical staff did not have the authority to – they just went on to become yet another record on paper.
The mere thought of such cruelty made Na bi's stomach turn. She wondered how anyone believed that evil did not exist in Seoul when she saw evidence of it in every corner, at every given moment - even the very next one.
Ambulance sirens.
Both her and Seokmin immediately looked at each other, ears perking at the sound of not one, not two but sirens of seven ambulances getting increasingly loud.
True to her training, Na bi immediately flung the bottle in her hand into a nearby trashcan and rushed to the entrance with Seokmin right behind her, pulling her hair into a higher and tighter ponytail. The rest of the doctors and nurses had already assembled, prepping to take on the load of cases that was about to walk in. But given that 'smooth-sailing' was just not a part of the emergency department's vocabulary, the head nurse ran up to her, a worried look on her face. “Dr. Baek, Dr. Yoo isn’t here.”
Fuck, she forgot - the attending had left right after morning rounds for a conference in Busan which meant-
“Jaehyun is in charge.” Seokmin concluded, voicing her thoughts as the three of them turned and looked across the corridor.
Jaehyun's face was as white as the wall behind him, hands shaking. Shit. Sure he was two years her senior which theoretically meant he was the most experienced person here to lead the room but Na bi knew he didn't have the stomach for what was coming; especially when the hospital doors opened and all she saw was blood. Blood, blood, blood, everywhere.
“Who’s in charge?” A paramedic looked around urgently while Na bi continued looking at a frozen Jaehyun. “Who’s in charge???”
There was no time for incompetence. Not right now.
“I’m taking over.” She whispered to Seokmin before she stepped up. “Me, Dr. Baek. What happened?”
“Traffic accident.” He panted. “That’s what they said on the call but I don’t think so. Seems more like a…..”
Na bi looked around the room, her vision tunneling on the details. There were almost 40 men, most of them were severely injured, but it was definitely not a traffic accident. They had massive gashes, wounds that looked like they were cut by something sharp, like a knife. The bruises on their eyes and mouth, those were obviously landed from a fist and the way some of their ribs and arms seemed broken, this was definitely a -
“Gang fight.” They said at the same time.
“They’re criminals.” Seokmin whispered, his voice laced with hesitancy.
Na bi took a deep breath and slipped on her gloves. “And we’re doctors.”
Tumblr media
Na bi closed the door of the storage room behind her, finally getting away from it all.
It had been 3 hours. 3 intensive hours but to be honest, it wasn’t as bad as she expected; she had seen far worse days. While there was copious amounts of blood, the wounds weren’t so deep or severe that a few stitches and dressing couldn’t handle. About five of them had to be sent for emergency surgery and were now being monitored in the intensive care. Those who had fractures were scanned and appropriately bandaged and those who had rushed here accompanying their companions were detained in a separate room till the cops arrived.
Na bi had no choice but to ask Seokmin to call for law enforcement. Given how they were taking their own sweet time to come, maybe she was mistaken about the gravity of the situation but she had assumed that she couldn’t just brush 40 people injured by violence under the rug – it was necessary to get the police involved. Regardless of the fact that every single one of those brought in was wearing combat boots.
Cracking the joints of her neck, she gripped the metal bars of the shelf before her and briefly shut her eyes.
The faces of those who were brought in today flashed before her– she didn’t recognise any of them. None of those who used to follow her were there, neither was Wonho and neither was Changkyun. Na bi didn’t know why it was necessary for her to find out but the moment she noticed the combat boots, her first instinct was to look for Changkyun. It wasn’t like she deeply cared for him or anything; it was more because of curiosity. Of course, it was plain old curiosity, what else could it be-
Her eyes flew open at the subtle sound of the carboard boxes - Someone was in the room.
Pretending not to notice, yet extremely cautiously, she looked around for the spare supplies she came for and true to her intuition, just as she tried to reach for the gauzes at the back of the shelf, she felt a presence press against her back and something sharp and cold pricking her neck.
“Where is he?”
Na bi wouldn’t have screamed, she recognised that voice but she felt a hand cover her mouth anyway. She tried to struggle free from it but the tip of the knife against her skin inched deeper.
“Where is he?” Wonho whispered harshly again.
She pried his hand from her mouth, whispering back loudly. “How am I supposed to say anything with your hand on my mouth?”
Na bi felt a sting and the blood trickle down her neck. She had encountered this man so many times but this was the first time he was hurting her. Frankly, it sort of annoyed her, making her snap in retaliation. “How would I know where Changkyun is?”
Wonho’s grip on her softened and she took the opportunity to set herself free and face him. He looked tensed.
“How do you know his name?”
Na bi held a piece of gauze against the burning cut on her throat. Fuck.
“.....he told me.”
“He told you?” Wonho looked at her in absolute disbelief but eventually shook it off like he had other more important things to deal with. He pointed his knife at her. “I don't care why he decided to disclose it to someone like you, but don’t you ever dare take his name. Not before me, not before anyone, do you understand?”
Na bi nodded slowly. She had forgotten the dangerous weight his name carried. Was that how comfortable she had gotten with all this?
“And I’m asking you for the last time. Where is I.M?”
Ignoring how silly the name 'I.M' sounded, Na bi sighed. “I swear, I have no idea; I was drunk remember?”
“He dropped you home.”
“He was wearing a suit.”
“What?”
“Are we not playing state-the-obvious?”
Wonho’s confused face turned into exasperation. “He didn’t return after that; you were the last one who saw him!”
Na bi scoffed. “What, you think I tied him up and put him in my basement?”
“Of course not. I already checked your house-“
“Wait, what-“
“I don’t think you are really understanding the gravity of the situation Ms. Baek.” Wonho moved closer to her, urgently. “He is a very important man and things can go very wrong without him around.”
Why was everyone around her suddenly going missing?
“I swear to god, I have no idea. Last night we….. I mean, I fell asleep and he left, I don’t know where he went after that or what might have happened-“
“Na bi!” Both her and Wonho jumped apart, turning at the sound of Seokmin knocking the door. “The cops are here.”
Wonho placed a finger on his mouth warning her, as though Na bi didn’t know she had to keep quiet. Fishing something out of his pocket, he handed it to her as he took a step back into the darkness of the room – her phone. Recalling what she had done with it last night, she wanted to ask Wonho if the person she shot was okay but when she looked up, he had already melted into the shadows he came from.
Adjusting her scrubs, still looking over her shoulder, she walked over and opened the door to see Seokmin waiting for her and next to him, in uniform, was her next problem for today who also happened to be a very, very familiar face.
“Na bi, this is Officer Kim Mingyu.”
Seokmin introduced her to a man who didn’t really need an introduction because if she hadn't left him without an explanation last night, she would have been introduced to him anyways.
He seemed to have recognised her too, his eyes widening, expression changing from confusion to surprise.
“Officer Kim, this is Dr. Baek, she was the one in charge today.”
“Dr. Baek Na bi.” Mingyu pieced together her name, shaking her hand with a slightly cocky smile dancing on his face. “Fate works in funny ways.”
As Seokmin frowned looking back and forth between the two of them, Na bi turned to him. “Min-ah, help me go check if everything is okay in the wards, please?” When he didn’t move, still suspiciously staring them down, she emphasised on the please once more, with a look of promise in her eyes to tell him the details later and he finally left, leaving them alone. When Na bi turned her attention back to Mingyu, he still hadn’t let her hand go and his eyes were on her lips, making her cheeks flush red.
“I’m so sorry about last night-” Na bi began when he extended his other hand towards her, making her reflexively take a step back. “Woah.”
He immediately looked apologetic, pointing at her neck. "You're bleeding."
"Oh, that's nothing." She pressed the gauze onto her wound again, pulling her hand out of his grip. "Again about last night, I'm sorry. It was rude of me, I should have said something before I left like that….”
“The way you ran out, I was worried if everything was okay with you.” And he genuinely looked concerned. Sweet.
“Everything was fine, I just had something personal to take care of.”
He nodded slowly pursing his lips, and two tiny dimples appeared on his cheeks, making Na bi smile.
“I’m glad I found you again.” He put his hands his pockets, his shoulders scrunching up. “Now I just need to meet you one more time to confirm my theory.”
“Your theory?”
Mingyu nodded. “I believe a first meeting happens by chance. The second one may be a coincidence, but a third time?” He looked around before whispering. “That’s fate.”
Na bi chuckled. “I don’t believe in fate officer.”
“Give it a chance doctor. Third time’s a charm.”
“And why do you think we will run into each other once again?”
“Because I would like to take you out for dinner tomorrow.”
Na bi crossed her arms, trying hard not to smile. “Setting up a third meeting? Well that’s cheating.”
“I don’t just leave things to fate Dr. Baek.” He leaned in so close, Na bi could smell that familiar scent of him, the same one he had on in the bar, the memory of his mouth on hers coming back. “I work for what I want.”
It would be a lie to say Na bi was not impressed. Usually, these kind of words didn't have much effect on her, she would have just laughed it off. But the first time she met him, she had judged him to be a lot more amateur and inexperienced and now clearly, he knew what he was doing and he was doing well. So, when he put his hand out looking pointedly at her phone, she gave it to him and watched as he gave himself a call and saved her contact on his phone with the emoticon of a butterfly.
She laughed. “My 8th grade boyfriend used to save my name like that.”
“I like butterflies.” He looked at her with captivated eyes. “I think they’re really beautiful.”
Their wings might be but what about the ugly creature they hide under all that colour?
Na bi took back her phone, saving his number with an emoji of her own – a dog.
Mingyu pouted, dimples popping up again and she laughed, pointing at him, “There you go! I knew you were the golden retriever kind- “
“Na bi!” She startled, turning towards the sound as Seokmin ran up to her, bending over and coughing to catch his breath before he finally found his voice. “They’re…they’re all gone.”
“What?” Na bi and Mingyu blurted together, shocked.
“The ones in the ward, ICU, the ones detained, all, every single one of them is missing.”
Na bi immediately ran towards the wards, both men following her. There were dozens of officers everywhere, talking to the staff, taking notes, walkie talkies going off but the beds – they were empty. All of them.
They checked everywhere, they checked everything but there were no traces of Changkyun’s men.
 It was like they were never there.
Tumblr media
Na bi opened the door of her house, kicking off her shoes, tired to the bone.
After hours of questioning by the cops, Na bi began to understand the meticulousness with which Changkyun’s men worked.
While the hospital had called the police immediately after the ambulances arrived, it turned out they received no such call – Changkyun’s men had somehow intercepted it. It was only hours later when Seokmin called again to check on the delay that the cops received the information, arriving within 20 minutes with a full task force but their culprits had already cleared the scene by then. They didn’t even leave any clues behind – all their belongings had disappeared with them; the security cam footage was wiped clean, any and all records made for medical reasons were shredded – they had even taken their medical waste away. No one stopped them through all this – no one dare to.
Na bi threw her bag on the couch, grabbing a bottle of water from the fridge. But just as she hurriedly chugged it, there was an unexpected knock on her door, prompting her to glance at the clock – it was 11pm. Who would come by now?
Had Changkyun’s enemies finally found her?
Na bi felt a chill run down her spine. As though she bad timing was the highlight of her fate, just today of all days, none of Changkyun’s men were around. She was all alone, there really was no one to help.
When another knock followed, she immediately grabbed her phone and texted Seokmin, asking him to come over immediately, then scoured through the kitchen drawers and grabbed a knife. Heart thumping in her chest, she slowly made her way to the door, first looking through the peephole to see just how many people were threatening to break down her door but there was only one. Just one man in a spotless white shirt, standing with his head down and palms on the door and without even looking at his face, Na bi knew who it was.
Sighing in relief, she threw the knife onto the dining table and quickly opened the door, as he lazily lifted his head giving her a small, familiar smile.
“Changkyun?”
He seemed like he was struggling to stand straight. Was he drunk?
“You’ve been gone for hours. Do you always work this late…..”
As his eyes trailed down her face, his smile vanished, hand slowly reaching for her neck, his finger smearing with blood as he ran it across a painful spot – the wound from Wonho’s knife seemed to have opened up again.
“You’re bleeding.” He rubbed the blood between his fingers, looking at it. “What happened?”
Was he slurring?
"Wonho came to the hospital and-"
Before she could finish, his heavy eyes fluttered shut and he stumbled forward but Na bi quickly caught him, just as his knees gave away. She could feel something warm and sticky on his back making her look over his shoulder at her hand, a sight that nearly made her heart stop. Blood.
For the first time ever, her hands shook as they were drenched in blood, his blood and as though he finally gave up, Changkyun went limp in her arms.
I tried to re-"catch" the feelings I was having from watching Crash Course in Romance.
So, I looked into my deep watchlist and ended up with two very thoroughly enjoyable k-dramas that are re-watchable for a picky watcher like me. This is going to be long so read below if interested about the k-dramas Our Beloved Summer and Reply 1988
our beloved summer
Tumblr media
I'm a sucker for slice-of-life stories. while this story navigates through different timelines, it expertly toes the line between the past and the present thus presenting a full growth for each character in this simple yet relatable story. i love the script. i especially love the ost which i listen to every day even after finishing this drama a couple of months back.
our beloved summer, adapted from a webtoon, is the story of Choi Woong and Kook Yoon-seo who became viral after starring in a documentary about the contrast of the top and worst student in their highschool. that alone makes you curious. it's a catchy premise and the whole story manages keep the premise alive until the end.
the story is simple and you can guess where the story is headed. but what made me stay is the pacing and the writing. and it being true to what it set out to do-- to say that love can be found in different people in different times. but there are special moments where you find a different love in the same person at a different time.
i can confidently say that Choi Wooshik and Kim Da-mi are both actors to watch out for. they are not just made for the small screen. they each have such a presence that can't just be contained in a small screen. or maybe i just loved their chemistry so much. it's not even that kind of chemistry where it will grip your heart but it's the work that they put on both characters to make them as authentic as possible. i was drawn in on how they portrayed Woong and Yoon-seo. i was drawn on why they did what they did that led to their eventual *spoilers ahead* break-up and subsequent marriage.
watch this if you're not too heartbroken and you like a slow paced stories that fleshes out human emotions particularly of love-- to a romantic partner, to a mother, to a friend, and to found family.
i particularly loved the way they blindsided me about the reason why Woong was the was he was and why in a way he couldn't open himself up completely to Yoon-seo made me fall in love with the writing. with the sheer amount of content and stories readily available for us to consume, you become so desensitised that it's sometimes a welcomed gift when you don't get to predict what happens in a story.
that particular scene where they get back together and Woong says "...please keep loving me," is engraved in my heart.
--the only downside to this wonderful drama is a 1/4 of a love quadrangle that is too green to handle a wonderful script like this one. you'll know what I'm talking about when you watch it.
2. reply 1988
Tumblr media
i don't know what got me drawn to the works of the tandem director Shin Wonho and writer Lee Woo-jung but i am so glad that i am. i started with hospital playlist after seeing so much memes about it and now i can't imagine my life without hosplay (i still watch the whole thing like every month).
but i'm not here to talk about hosplay but the third installment of the critically acclaimed "reply" series.
Reply 1988 is the highest rated in tv ratings among all the "reply" series. and i can totally understand that as this show captures all the tales and woes of each generation.
i can say that the number 1 appeal of the Shin-Lee series' is the nostalgia and the bravery it takes to tackle the simplest yet the most constant worries of a human.
for the 3rd "reply" installment, it goes back to 1988, before the year looked funny (as you will see on one of the episodes). there definitely is something true about that as that's when all the technology in the world started to become accessible.
this show crept up to me (much like Prison Playbook). this was my second attempt at watching it since the first time made me drop it for being too "scream-y" which to be honest, a lot of shows are anyway. but what made me stay were the moms and dads. only did the last few episodes made me notice the actual gang of young misfits.
i loved the way it tackled real-world, real-family problems without being preachy. i love the way the pacing is so slow and nostalgic. i love the way all the families interacted with each other and with the other families.
don't come watching this show for the love story (although i absolutely loved who the main girl character ended up with). come watch this show if you enjoy stories about family dynamics.
--the only thing i didn't like (and this is just totally me), is how the noona who seems to be levelheaded fell in love with an immature child. maybe i was too salty to understand how it all went down but it just wasn't for me.
Chapter 2 - The First Rumor
The awards ceremony that both would attend was one of those celebrations in which the entire Korean press would be, its mission was one: not to miss a single detail of the night.
Naturally, Changkyun arrived with the rest of his members, they posed together, and after greeting several of their closest friends, they sat together.
For her part, even though Liv had entered with other renowned choreographers and even producers, the girl had become so close to her group that she went directly to greet them, and since Seventeen was not that far from Monsta X, I.M wasn't missing a single thing his girlfriend did.
"Changkyun" Shownu called when he noticed that the maknae was looking at Liv without any discretion. “You have ALL the cameras on you, control yourself.”
"I'm not doing anything, hyung."
"You haven't moved your gaze from Liv, anyone would notice."
Fortunately, Shownu did not have to say more, for a group of girls from their company was arriving and after greeting all the members, they talked a bit with them. Although there was no kind of romantic relationship between the members of Monsta X and Cosmic Girls, the fans had created rumors about practically everyone, particularly about I.M and another idol called Luda. However, until that night that had not been an issue for the rapper and his girlfriend, actually, they had barely talked about it since they both knew the truth; besides, Liv had also been the victim of gossips that didn't make sense, like all the ones she'd faced about her and Hoshi, even about her with other members of other groups she'd worked with.
During the afterparty, there weren't that many cameras, just a couple of authorized photographers so the guests could relax a little more. Even so, the entire industry was at that party and the rumors were precisely the most interesting thing of the night.
“Hey, but when did you finish that? I just brought it to you!” Hoshi said as he returned next to Liv. "Don't bother explaining, I got it." The dancer had looked in the same direction as Liv and understood what was going on the moment he saw Changkyun and Luda talking. “We can go to their table if that's what you want. You know… mark your territory.”
Olivia wasn't exactly a jealous woman, she more than anyone knew how much I.M loved her; however, Liv noticed how Luda had been looking for her boyfriend pretty much during the whole damn night, and it was something that was starting to annoy her. Liv tried to be as professional as possible, but she also had her limits, especially if someone tried to get into her relationship.
However, Hoshi's comment made the choreographer laugh. “Did you seriously just use that expression? You know I can't just show up there, there are too many people."
Just as Seventeen’s main dancer was trying to convince his friend to go put the other girl in her place, Wonwoo sat between the two.
"I want to leave." He commented sounding highly overwhelmed. "I just wanted to go to the bathroom, but I ended up running into people who I don't know who they are, but who said hello to me."
"Dude, what the fuck? You can't be that introverted your whole life." Hoshi reply.
"Leave him alone, he's not an attention seeker like you," despite Liv was intending to defend Wonwoo, she did not look at him, her eyes were fixed on her boyfriend. Not even when Hoshi demanded an apology did Liv pay attention.
“What's up, Liv? Is Hoshi already drunk and you're planning to change seats with someone else?” Wonwoo asked.
“I have nothing to do with this. Your friend and his fan girl are responsible.” He said pointing at I.M and Luda.
“Oh, come on! You can't be serious. They're nothing, I think there was no more than one date.”
"WHAT?" Liv asked loud enough for other members of Seventeen to look at her strangely. “Kyun told me that nothing happened!” Hearing that, Wonwoo covered his face with his hands, he had screwed up.
"Shit…"
"Wonwoo, explain yourself right now or Liv will make us all pay tomorrow with those practices where I can't even feel my legs," Hoshi begged.
“It was nothing, they just went to eat something. It was so insignificant that I don't remember when it happened." The rapper tried to explain while swallowing hard, the look of his choreographer was scary.
"See, Liv? That's why I tell you that you must go mark your territory!"
"And I told you I can't just show up!"
Feeling guilty for making everything worse, Wonwoo believed he could help. "Changkyun is my friend, everyone knows it, it won't be strange if we go say hello."
Liv thanked him because in a few moments she was already close to her boyfriend, who smiled tenderly at her. Totally different from how he had behaved towards Luda, I.M immediately pulled out a chair for Liv to sit in at the same time Wonwoo sat next to him.
"Well... just pretend I'm not there." Wonwoo said, but before turning around a bit, he tried to make his friend see his expression and understand that he had done something stupid.
"Hi, gorgeous." I.M greeted with his low voice. "You didn't tell me you would wear the dress that I gave you," he said practically in his girlfriend's ear.
"And you didn't tell you had dated Luda."
"What are you talking about, baby?" The rapper's question explained itself, as Wonwoo turned around to apologize and make I.M understand that it was his fault.
However, the couple knew they couldn't talk for long and the last thing they wanted was to argue, so they both tacitly agreed to stop the matter at least for the moment.
“How's everything so far? Those producers you were talking to are big fish."
“Now that you mention it, I was planning to tell you at home but... guess what." She teased with a mischievous smile. "Some of them were talking about your second album, they said they were expecting to get an invitation from you to work together.”
"Really?"
Probably on another occasion Changkyun would not have believed what his girlfriend said, he would have doubted his talent, but the time he spent working on himself, and the security that Liv transmitted to him, made him smile. Despite being proud of his work, he was still pretty shy, but Liv found it adorable to see his ears blush a little, it even managed to make her forget about the other girl.
"Of course! I told them that since I had already worked with you, I was sure that you would exceed their expectations."
Changkyun gawked at her, his gaze would tell anyone who saw them how much in love he was with Liv, but before losing his mind over her and taking her hand, someone interrupted them.
“Changkyun, let's go. Picture time.” Joon Hyung didn't just tell him that, he also waited beside I.M for him to stand up.
“Does it have to be now, hyung? They are photographing the girls.”
"You are next, let's go." He repeated.
I.M knew that the only thing the manager wanted was for him not to be sitting around talking to Liv. Joon Hyung was not entirely wrong, and Olivia knew it, she had already sensed several gazes on them. Therefore, she agreed with the man, and with a smile for her rapper, she got up first.
Fortunately, Kihyun was already walking toward the girl, which allowed I.M to go a bit calmer.
“Liv, Wonwoo, hi!” The singer greeted. "Are you already leaving?"
“We just came to say hello to Changkyun, but he had to leave because they had to take some shots of him,” Wonwoo explained.
"Pictures of him alone?" It wasn't normal for the managers to call a member apart, plus Monsta X had already been photographed together, hence, Kihyun looked for the maknae and found him posing with Luda. "I hope that photograph doesn't come to light, I'm done with rumors." Kihyun commented while Wonwoo looked at his choreographer out of the corner of his eye.
Despite being genuinely introverted, the Seventeen rapper tried hard to start a conversation that had nothing to do with I.M and his colleague. Fortunately for him, Jooheon approached with another member of Seventeen and the conversation was much more fluid.
**********
Finally, in the apartment, Changkyun had been playing with his cat while Olivia finished removing her makeup. "You looked stunning tonight." He commented taking the cat down so he could hug Liv in such a way that he rested his chin on her shoulder. "I like you better this way though." He said causing the girl to laugh a little. “Baby, about Luda, that was nothing. We are from the same company, I have known her for some time, and we have bumped into each other in the cafeteria.”
"Did you go on a date with her?"
“It was only once, and absolutely nothing happened. I would not even call it a date. I was not interested in dating, Liv, I was waiting for you. I know that we weren't together, but I trusted you would come back."
Olivia remembered Kihyun's words when she and Changkyun were just starting to date and her brother had warned her about what kind of person the youngest of the group was. Changkyun's nature was to give his soul and heart to the people he loved, and all the time together proved that to Liv. Without doubting her boyfriend, she closed to the rapper and, taking his hands, kissed them.
Running his thumb delicately over Olivia's lower lip, I.M smirked. “Were you seriously jealous? YOU jealous?
"No... I just don't like you to hide things from me and you hadn't told me that."
"Liv, you're terrible at lying! You're even worse than me," he said laughing.
“Yeah, right... You still get sensible when you see me talking to Hoshi. Now that I think about it, you get upset with all the dancers I work with!”
"Where do you get those ideas?"
"Last time I told you I was going to eat with Astro's members you made such a scene that I had to call Jooheon to calm you down."
"Bullshit..." He said lying down and stretching his arms in such a way that his shirt allowed Liv to admire his abs. "I could never be mad at you for hanging out with them, Jinjin is one of my best friends."
"Oh, the irony! Jinjin himself told me that you are ridiculously annoying and that you asked him not to let Moonbin get any closer than necessary." She responded by bringing her hand to her boyfriend's firm stomach. A light touch from Liv was enough for I.M to close his eyes and sigh.
“He was lying”
"Kyun, admit it, you're more jealous than me."
"Nope…"
“Okay, then I'm glad to hear that because today I got a juicy offer. I was offered to take over the choreography for Moonbin's solo debut. They also want me to appear with him in the video.”
"WHAT?"
The speed with which I.M opened his eyes and sat back up provoked Liv to cover her lips to keep from laughing. Being calm was I.M's thing, staying calm and not exaggerating any emotion was a typical characteristic of the rapper, so seeing him react like that was truly comical.
However, more important than his jealousy was his concern for Liv's health. "Why more work, Olivia? You’re already in charge of Seventeen, you also have that new group, and from time to time you work with Astro. I don't want to see you with a burn-out."
"Kyun, you know that I don't work alone, I have amazing dancers creating the choreographies with me."
"And what about your knee? Baby, you need that surgery."
It took Olivia a long time to convince Changkyun that her knee was fine and that the doctor had told her that she could still wait a little longer before surgery, for now, the therapies were enough. However, once she assured him that she could handle the workload, the jealousy returned.
"You could just do the choreography, why does he want you in the video?"
"It was not only a request of Moonbin." She clarified. "His company thought it would be a good idea, that way I wouldn't have to train anyone because I would know all the moves."
"Well, obviously it's a good idea, you're perfect." He mumbled crossing his arms.
When it came to spoiled boyfriends, Changkyun was the king of them. He was used to receiving all of Olivia's attention, so having to share it was something he hated. Even so, they had never argued about it, the rapper's claims used to be more tender than serious, and that was precisely what happened that night. Trying not to make the problem bigger, Changkyun mumbled, or rather, complained to his cat as he played with him and ignored what Liv was trying to tell him.
I.M agreed to pay attention to her until Olivia sat in front of him and cupped his face. "I haven't signed anything yet, they just offered it to me today at dinner. It could be a good opportunity, but if you don't..."
“You know what would be a better opportunity? That you appear with me in my next video.”
"Kyun, I'd love to, and you know I'd do it without thinking if it didn't mean a problem for your career."
“It wouldn't be so weird, Liv. You are a great choreographer, just as Moonbin wants you for his video, another singer could ask you for the same thing, and that could be me.”
“Do you really think we can hide what we feel for each other? Because I don't think so." She said playing with the rapper's dark hair.
"Maybe if they let me make love to you in the video, we wouldn't have a problem." He joked leaning close to Liv's neck and slowly spreading kisses. "Do it, take the opportunity. You're too good for people not to see you. BUT if he gets any closer than necessary, I'll kill him, Olivia." He warned before losing himself in the body of the choreographer.
**********
The next day while Changkyun slept, Liv got up, took a bath and when she was ready to go out, she came over to kiss her boyfriend's forehead, who was turning around looking for her and making unintelligible sounds. However, Olivia had already learned to decipher what I.M said in those moments in which it was impossible to know if he was asleep or not.
“Baby, don't you remember? I told you I'd have breakfast with Jules. When I get back, we'll go to my parents' house."
“Tell her hi,” he said hugging the pillow Liv used. "Don't come back late, I've missed you so much."
With a smile on her face, the girl left the apartment. Being so early, she managed to get quickly to where her friend was waiting for her. Jules had already ordered coffee for both of them, and knowing Liv so well, she had also ordered breakfast.
"Oh! I've never met someone more efficient. Ki doesn't know what I like to eat and Kyun spends hours looking at the menu, even if we go to the same places and order the same thing, I swear he always does it."
"I figured you wouldn't have much time, you told me you're leaving town today."
"Yes, I'm desperate to do it."
Just as Julianne was about to reply to her friend, she was checking something on her cell phone, in fact, she was about to block it when she saw a picture that had just been uploaded. Her first instinct was to read the news, but if there was anyone who would be interested, it was Liv, since it was about her boyfriend.
"Liv, did you see the picture they took of Changkyun from yesterday?"
"What are you talking about?"
Jules handed over her cell phone and Liv even felt her stomach churn with anger at seeing I.M with Luda, and it wasn't just that, but also the title of the news, which hinted that they were both dating.
“Yesterday we talked about this…” Liv said with a sigh. “Apparently they went out once, he says nothing happened between them and I believe him, but she won't leave him alone. Jules, she chased him all night.”
“If she's bothering you, I can handle it. I can totally take care of this, in fact, I promise I'll scare her so much that she'll never come near her again."
Olivia laughed because she knew that her friend was capable of doing it, since the first time Jooheon introduced Jules to Liv, the dancer knew how brave she was.
“It's not that simple, and it's not just about her. I.M wants to make our relationship public.”
"And you don't want the same?"
“Of course I do! But I’m worried about what this might bring to his image. Can you imagine how people would react if they find out about you and Jooheon?”
“But we're not engaged, Liv, you are. You should be able to plan your wedding in peace and enjoy all of that properly.”
“I know it, and believe me, I want to do it too, but I’d like us to first think about how to do everything. The managers don’t like me very much, and I don't blame them, it hasn't been easy to deal with all this.”
"Fuck them! It's your relationship, not theirs."
Liv's jaw dropped at hearing her friend speak that way. Julianne used to be so polite and discreet that it wasn't common to hear her say things like that, but the girl was right, Monsta X managers didn't have to own that much control over the members and their private lives.
After a while, Liv also told her friend about the video with Moonbin and her boyfriend's reaction.
"Well, then there are several things to control, first that bitch, second your boyfriend's jealousy, third, Moonbin's dirty hands in that video, and fourth the noses that managers want to stick in everything."
"Jules, what's up with you today?" Liv asked laughing a lot and deciding that the best thing would be to change the matter or her friend would go to fight with the first person she found on the street. “Let’s talk about museums, paintings, and those things you like.”
*********
A few days after returning from Olivia's parents' house, Monsta X had a photo shoot. Liv had rushed in to watch the session, with all due caution, of course. The choreographer had stayed behind with Hyungwon, Jooheon, and Kihyun while the photographers worked with the maknae.
"Look at him, anyone who sees those pictures would think he's a badass." Jooheon joked.
"Badass, yeah right! We're talking about the same kid who was crying all over the place because Liv left him."
"Ki, don't be rude!" The girl said hitting him in the arm. “But you're right about something, Kyun is not like that. Do you want to see something funny?”
Kihyun, Jooheon, and Hyungwon saw Liv's mischievous look and nodded right there.
Being very careful not to be seen, Olivia took off the mask she was wearing, and moving a little from where she was, she placed herself in a spot where I.M. could see her. Once she had her boyfriend's attention, the girl winked at him and blew him a kiss. That was enough for Changkyun to turn so red that they had to fix his makeup countless times. In addition, when it was his turn to pose with the decoration that was next to him, he threw everything else on more than one occasion.
While that was happening, Jooheon, Kihyun, and Hyungwon laughed with Liv. For the guys, Changkyun would always be the baby of the group, and for Olivia, there was no one more adorable than him.
“Oh, look at him! He's finally smiling!" Hyungwon commented. “Since his photo with Luda came out, he has been more serious than usual.”
“Yes, dealing with Joon Hyung and Deok Joon has been somewhat chaotic,” Jooheon said as Kihyun nodded.
"I asked him to ignore that."
"Well, he didn't listen to you, little sister, he ordered that they clarify all those rumors immediately."
"I.M’s right, he has nothing to do with that girl, he is engaged to Liv, he doesn't have to put up with being related to someone else."
"Hyungwon, you know how this industry works, the rumors never stop even if the companies speak out," Jooheon said.
"Well, they could do better, I.M had every right to demand that clarification, now everyone's talking about it." Seeing Liv's face, Hyungwon placed his hand on her shoulder and smiled at her. “You don't have to feel bad, none of this is your fault and I want you to know that we all support your boyfriend. Shownu himself asked Deok Joon to help, after all, he's the most approachable. But he didn't get anything, he said to ignore this gossip and it will pass soon."
"It surprises me that this photograph was leaked, the guy who took it didn't sell it to anyone, there's evidence of that." Jooheon said.
“Do you think it was Luda? Her popularity went up quite a bit after that.” Kihyun mentioned.
"Changkyun should investigate more, what's more, not even him, Starship should take care of this and not allow the rumors to continue," Hyungwon said starting to get annoyed.
"After what happened with Wonho, are you still optimistic?" Kihyun asked ending the conversation because I.M was already walking towards them and his ears were still so red that it made everyone laugh.
“That wasn't funny, Liv! I was lousy in all the photographs.”
"You looked more handsome than ever!" Liv was controlling herself not to hug him, for the couple had the eyes of Joon Hyung and Deok Joon fixed on them.
“When you are recording your video, I swear I'll come and do the same to you.”
"It won't work, I don't embarrass myself so easily." She said winking at the same time that Changkyun imitated her and Kihyun looked at them feeling ashamed.
“How old are you two, fifteen? Behave.” Said the singer separating them.
*********
The creation of the choreography for Moonbin as well as the video shooting happened extremely quickly. Since Liv had worked with the idol before and knew how good dancer he was, it didn't take long for her to teach him the moves. As for the video recordings, I.M accompanied her but stayed on the sidelines with Jinjin, who continuously told him to relax and stop being so jealous. The video was very sexy and in several shots the closeness between Liv and Moonbin was more than Changkyun could tolerate. However, he controlled himself because I.M knew that it was a unique opportunity for Liv, and it really was, as soon as the video came out, many people were talking not only about the idol but also about her.
The collaboration had been so successful that Kihyun insisted on celebrating his sister and thus organized a dinner. However, there was a moment in which I.M just disappeared. It had been a long time since Liv had been alone with the boys and Jules, but her boyfriend was nowhere to be seen.
After apologizing to Minhyuk, since he was the one she was talking to at the time, the girl left the apartment, thinking that maybe I.M was in the garden, but there she only found Wonho and Shownu.
“Liv! What are you doing here? You are the star of the night.” Wonho said hugging her affectionately. “We were about to enter again.”
"I was looking for Kyun, have you seen him?"
"The last time I saw him, he told me he was going to get something out of the car." Shownu replied.
Even though the car was tinted, Olivia only had to get a little closer to discover that her boyfriend was arguing with someone. She heard almost nothing because the windows and doors were closed, but from the look on his face and the way he moved his hands, it was clear how furious he was.
It wasn't until Liv knocked on the door that Changkyun noticed her presence and seeing her there, he ended the call and tried to calm down before getting out of the car.
"Baby, what's up?" She asked hugging him as soon as he was close. The tension that the rapper had could be felt just by brushing his shoulders. "Did you argue with Deok Joon again?"
“Let's not talk about this, it's your night, we're celebrating." He kissed her forehead, but before he could leave, Liv took his hand, and just looking at him made him apologize. It wasn't that easy for Changkyun to forget about his bad communication habits, so sometimes he needed a little more help. “I want to clear up this whole Luda thing, I don't want any more rumors. And if my managers don't do it, then I will."
"It's just a photograph."
"Baby, you were the first to clarify that there was absolutely nothing between you and Hoshi when the rumors started a long time ago, you understand how I feel, so why don't you let me...?"
“It's not about giving you authorization, Kyun, I just want you to think things through. But if you want to do it, I'll support you.”
I.M was silent for a moment, but then he looked at his girl and put his arms around her. Taking advantage of the closeness, he spoke into her ear. “I'm not going to do it just because it could affect you. I don't want them to talk about you, or persecute you."
“I can take it.”
“I know, but I don't want you to do that, at least not yet. Let's talk about this later, it's your night."
The couple was entering the room when they found a scene they had NEVER seen before. Everyone, absolutely all his friends were silent and too serious, all looking at a cell phone.
"What's going on?" Changkyun asked.
“Better sit down…” Jooheon said.
“a pregnancy test?” she asked you back to confirm what you had said.  “When was the last time that you had your period?”
You looked down at your feet and unknowingly a tear fell to the floor. “it’s been about 6 months since I had my period… I have an IUD as birth control, so I don’t experience periods regularly anymore. Unless… it’s been removed or if it’s knocked out of place.” You answered
“And do you have a history of your IUD getting knocked out of place or coming out on its own?” she asked back
“No… never before” you answered back honestly.
The doctor hummed and considered what she was going to do for a few moments. “Alright well, if you’d like I can send you to a OBGYN who can check on the placement of your IUD… but I think right now you need some answers to help clear your mind a bit. If you’d like we can get started on a pregnancy test and then work on a diagnosis from there…” she said as softly and understanding as possible “but what makes you think that you’re pregnant?”
“I don’t know how to describe it but…I just feel it. The moment that it dawned on me that it was a possibility I just knew that that’s what was wrong.” You answered
“Wrong?” the doctor asked back
You shook your head yes furiously. You needed answers more than anything and you knew that it wouldn’t do you any good to drag things out any further. The doctor quietly stood up and retrieved a few items from a cabinet across the room before taking her seat across from you again.
“we can do two types of tests… we can either do a urine test which will get us results immediately or we can do a-“
You had immediately cut her off to give her your answer “the urine test!”
The doctor froze for a moment before she finished her sentence that you had cut off so abruptly “we could also do a blood test, they are far more accurate and we can see exactly what we want without the affect of your medication on the results with a urine test.”
“but won’t I have to wait a lot longer to find out the results with a blood test?” you asked her confused
“well… yes you would have to wait a day or two to find out the results while it processes at the labs, but you are less likely to get a false positive or negative.” She explained further
“I understand that, but right now I need something to work with and I don’t have a day or two to worry about this… either you do a urine test for me or ill just go to the store and do one myself.” You replied back to her “and right now I could really use the privacy that I get from doing it in the office with you.” You elaborated.
The doctor nodded her head and looked at you sadly for a moment. She could read your body language and hear it in your voice that a baby was not what you wanted right now, and she knew that you needed to have peace of mind. She just wished that you had the time to wait for a proper test.
She handed a cup out to you, and you immediately took it. It hadn’t been your first time to ever need to give a urine sample to a doctor and you were anxious to get it out of the way. You walked out of the room and into the bathroom and locked the door behind you. It was the first time that you had truly been alone with your thoughts since talking about pregnancy out loud and it felt so real to you. Like even if it turned out that you weren’t pregnant that somehow there would be something that’s kept with you from this moment on. And then there was another thought that immediately crossed your mind…
Who’s baby was it?
Was it Hoseok’s… Jooheon’s… or even Shownu’s? there was a high chance that it could be anyone’s baby and there was a huge hole in your heart that ached at the thought of having Shownu’s baby. If times were like they were you knew that he would rejoice at the thought of having a child with you. He had always loved children and always admired his fellow comrades’ children whenever they came around. But then again it turns out that you didn’t really know a whole lot about Shownu to begin with.
Perhaps he would hate you even more for getting pregnant. He had made it clear that he had only wanted to rule by your side in the long run… perhaps that one connection would have been too much to handle. Maybe it would have set him off sooner, or perhaps he might have used it against you to take over the clan… or perhaps he is angry, rolling over in his grave at the thought of you possibly killing his baby like you had killed him.
Regardless having a baby is one hundred percent out of the question. You were just pushed into a marriage that if you were honest with yourself, you weren’t ready for in the beginning. But now that you and Hoseok were getting along with one another and enjoying each other’s company you wanted to take your time with settling down and accepting him into the family and clan. You wanted to enjoy being in this relationship longer before you talked about long-term agreements and commitments.  A baby would ruin everything.
You quickly handled your business and tidied up in the bathroom before leaving and handing the doctor the sample. She took it with both hands and set it up on the counter, removing the top and then sticking multiple strips and tests into it. As soon as she had everything laid out to wait the appropriate time, she came back to her chair across from you.
“Assuming that it’s not a pregnancy I still think that you should go to an OBGYN to have your IUD looked at. It’s likely that it could have been dislodged or damaged when you were in your car accident. And I also think that you should go to a larger hospital for further testing. In our offices we can handle basic tests and x-rays, but nothing on the scale that a large hospital can, and with a head injury you can never be too safe.” She explained empathetically
“What are my options if I am?” you asked her with a deadpan voice
“If you, are I would suggest that you sleep on the information before you decide to do anything. There are many options that you can have that don’t lead to keeping the baby.” She explained  “if you don’t mind me asking who did you come here with today?”
“I came with my husband” you responded and for the first time you weren’t able to look at the doctor
It felt ugly to come with your husband to a doctor and bitch and complain about possibly being pregnant when there were so many couples that were infertile. Granted, your doctor didn’t know about your history as a couple. But it didn’t make the situation feel any less wrong.
“and I’m going to go on a limb and assume that it’s either not his baby, or you don’t know who’s baby it is…..” she stated looking at you for any visual clues or a response. She watched you for a moment but when she realized that you weren’t going to respond or speak up she assumed that she was right.
She got up and slowly walked over to the countertop, but you refused to watch her as she walked away from you. You closed your eyes and took deep breaths as you waited for her final answer.
“Mrs. y/l/n, it seems as thought you are pregnant” she said calmly from across the room
Your heart rate immediately accelerated, and your eyes opened from the shock. You looked over to the doctor who was watching you from across the room and you let out a deep sigh.
“I don’t know what to do…” you said with slight laughter “I can’t have this baby!”
The doctor broke her eye contact and looked down to the floor before she spoke up “I know that it feels scary right now. having a baby is a huge step and its life changing. But this baby could also be an amazing gift for you and your husband.” She said quietly trying to get through to you and see the positive
“With all due respect doctor having a baby is not good new for me or my husband. Neither of us will be better for it.” You explained. “so what are my options?”
The doctor eyed you for a moment and bit down on her lip as if she wanted to say something, but couldn’t bring herself to. She eyed you up and down and watched you as your eyes changed from shocked, scared, angry to desperate.
She pulled out a notebook and a pen and quickly scribbled something down on the piece of paper as if her pen was on fire. She tore the note off and held it in her hand for a minute before she handed it out to you shakily.
“I studied a lot of traditional herbal medicine and I know for a fact that these ingredients will help you with your problem” she explained, and you looked down at the note before you took it and glanced over what was written. “But…. I will warn you that if you take these ingredients that you will experience a lot of stomach pains and a period cycle from hell if it works.”
“It doesn’t matter! Thank you!” you said letting out a sob
“Take that list to any herbalist and they can get you the items that you need. You will want to mix them together and make a nice hot tea with it. Drink a lot of it and drink it quickly. Its going to taste bad but the warmth from the tea will help soothe your stomach.” The doctor looked like she had broken a moral code of her own by giving you this information, but she still helped you regardless. “If by chance you experience extreme symptoms you will need to go to a large hospital and seek care.”
You clutched the piece of paper to your chest and squeezed your eyes shut, letting a waterfall of tears fall from your eyes. You wanted to stand up and hug the doctor for helping you but your knees wouldn’t have been able to withstand your body weight. You would have immediately crumbled into a pile of tears on the floor. So instead you sat there, knees shaking and gasping for fresh air as you held the key to your problems in your hands.
“I’ll leave you here for a moment while you gather yourself…” the doctor said as she handed you a few tissues from nearby. She stood up and walked towards the door but just when she was within arm’s reach of the knob, she turned back around to you “whatever you are going through right now, just know that it will get better. And please take care of yourself!” she said with a warm, understating smile before finally exiting the room.
You let out a small sad gasp and then wiped the tears away from your eyes. There were so many emotions running through you all at once that you didn’t even know how to feel… where you angry, sad, happy, nervous? You took deep breaths and tried to calm yourself down before you went back out into the lobby where a clueless Hoseok sat and waited. He still believed that you were sick from the concussion and you had to continue to play the role of innocence.
you wiped away at your tear stained face and took your time as you gathered your things before you were ready to go back to the receptionist to check-out. You swung the door open and the first thing that you saw was the worried and tired face of Hoseok who seemed anxious to hear about what had happened inside the room. he stood up quickly and approached you, but all you could do was freeze. There was no running away.
“how did everything go? Are you okay?” he asked as he looked you over
“she said it was probably just from overactivity and sun exposure. Nothing to be worried about really…” you had lied to him softly
Hoseok finally broke his anxious and stone cold expression and let out a sigh. He smiled up at you and pulled you in for a warm hug. “thank god” he mumbled and pulled away, just in time for you to walk away and hide the tears that were threatening to spill.
"don't turn into a host." mako warned while downing on his can of beer. the stress of the night prior, still weighing on his shoulders. "doesn't matter if you're nice... girls will find a way to pin the blame on you even when you remind 'em they're paying for a service." acting as if they were maliciously deceiving them. "i had one accuse me of being a total fraud, even though she knew... & then acted like everything was a lie despite all the sacrifices i did for her." earning less than he would've done on a night, giving up his rank as number one, among other things... it left a sour taste in his mouth. "she doesn't even see how much of a girlfriend she was starting to act like... asking me to hold her, reassure her... even go as far as throw a tantrum whenever i was busy." guilting him, pressuring him... the life of a host wasn't so glamorous, after all. a sigh escaped her. "i tried to be nice, be her friend, but she was acting so uninterested... it made me feel she didn't really value me after i didn't meet her standards."
Tumblr media
"Oh my..." The great Mako had fallen, not something he had ever thought to witness, considering nothing seemed to be able to bring him truly down and honestly girls seemed to be a better topic with Dae or even Sunny, considering they were in the same business and Won-ho was pretty much still a virgin. Nothing that had ever bugged him too much but with age sure some embarrassment grew. This was not about him now, but Mako, who appeared rather depressive over what happened the night before.
"Not that I ever planned to, the girl's stuff I rather leave to you guys," he admitted with a quiet chuckle, before looking rather concerned towards Mako. How bad must it have been, that he was that down over it? "Sounds like someone fell for you," Won-ho mumbled the more info was shared, and he actually ordered soju next for them once Mako emptied his can. He really wished he had some wise words, but his experience was truly a joke. "I guess, when you end up crushing on someone, and he does not return those feelings everyone would be hurt, ... and I guess... possibly turn malicious." Now he was thinking of all the dramas he had watched, but how close were movies to reality? "When it is about true love, humans sure tend to act impetuous, doing the most stupid stuff. I wonder if she really meant it or not, maybe she thinks differently about her words now..." He could only assume, before moving closer to Mako and wrapping his arm around his shoulders. "You truly picked a tough business." There he preferred his supermarket. "I always wondered how not every girl falls directly in love with you guys."
He would listen further, nodding. "Why... did you do those sacrifices though?" Did he do them with all clients of his? "Did you actually like her a bit too? ... or was it something like pity?" If the latter, then he would be less surprised that she possibly threw a tantrum or felt hurt, that he put this extra effort in just because. Though she did not sound like a total angel either and it made Won-ho question even more, why Mako still tried to please her. "Were you afraid of her?" He quietly asked in his ear, before quickly moving back, fully expecting Mako not to react too well.
"Hmm... I'm sorry, bro," he mumbled, leaning his chin on top of his folded hands. Currently imagining some girl spitting fire in Mako's direction in a very comedic way. "Looks like she really forgot about your own boundaries with falling so hard for you. But aren't hugs and such common practice in a host club?" It felt like, he still lacked details. "Whatever you did, at some point the lines started to blur... did you two... ... had sex?" He asked quietly, knowing they offered extra services. "... so you did try to be her friend?" Won-ho noted and gave Mako a pat. "Perhaps there lays the fault, that you failed a bit too to keep it inside the business." Of course profit was the main goal, but it looked like Mako got a bit soft on the girl, but sadly she interpreted is an act of love. "Huh, ... tough." Both felt at fault for him, though he would still side with Mako more, knowing he probably meant no ill will towards her with everything he did.
"Do you need a hug?" He offered and smiled a bit, trying his act as a host, or rather as a good friend.
