This is an awesome step for our community and environment- as we encourage more people to walk, bike, and take transit, we will watch both our world and our own lives heal.

“October 2021” Founded in 1842 for the sailors of the Great Lakes, the Mariners’ Church is more than a name to the honor those in the profession, the interior holds many nautical themed items: overhead lights that mimic ships’ wheels; windows paying homage to sailors and Lakes; numerous photos; and even model ships that have sailed and wrecked on the Great Lakes. In 1975 Gordon Lightfoot referenced the church in his song, "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" with the line referencing “the Maritime Sailors’ Cathedral”, and although the original copyrighted lyrics were never officially changed, he has changed the lyrics when performing live to reflect knowledge he’s gained of the church and Edmund Fitzgerald last moments. I highly recommend attending a service here if you have the opportunity.
