okay maybe it's my fantasy— but really, the way jihoon would portray the hidden soft side of levi, and how handsome jihoon would look in every single Levi's outfits is mind blowing. tbh, yeah it is my fantasy because I think woozi would do justice to Levi's misunderstood character, but really their aesthetics match a lot!

kim mingyu - tamaki suoh

oh please the golden retriever vibes, the angelic features, the kindness, everything of tamaki reminds me of mingyu, how soft mingyu would be when he loves someone how he would devote himself to his loved ones and how puppy like he is (did i add tamaki because I made wonwoo kyoyka? that too) but really, the purity of tamaki and mingyu warms me :((

xu minghao - megumi (jjk) / shinchiro sano (tokrev)

I added shinchiro because I thought the features matched, but personality wise it's definitely megumi, he's beautiful, he's sassy, he's smart and he's sarcastic, what more reason is needed?

lee seokmin - finnian ( black butler )

finny is such a ball of sunshine, he's so pure and loyal and he actually has hearts and stars in his eyes, even though the series is rather dark, finnian has always been the one softy as he is and so is dokyeom, he's sweet, kind and loving, just like finnian.

Single dad!au (Minghao)

okay

literally loves his son Joonwoo

named his son with a more korean name because of the mother

the mom died from complication of early child birth

very hard on Minghao

it was raining the day his son was born so he named him Joonwoo which means protection or rain

had no idea what to do

company kept the birth out of the media so no one knew about it except the boys and a few close friends of the group

including you

for awhile he was living on his own in a rental apartment and taking care of his newborn son

didn’t see the boys for six months

didn’t really see anybody for six months

the timing wasn’t great as well

seventeen had just had their second comeback after their debut (very nice era

soon Jun and Jeonghan moved in with him temporarily since he had to go back to work and so it didn’t look so suspicious

has a very close bond with his son

Jun is also very protective of him too

that boy has dealt with too many shitty diapers for anybody to mess with his nephew

fast forward to current time

Joonwoo is about three years old and it is getting harder for Minghao to manage being a single dad and being an idol

you were a very good friend of Vernons and around their mansae era became a makeup artist for the boys

you had met minghaos son a couple of times and always loved him

Minghao and you were friends but he was always busy taking care of joonwoo for him to get any closer to you

Joonwoo was now old enough that Hao could get away with bringing him to the studio with him but not a lot of the staff could watch him while he worked

so you offered to help him saying you loved spending time with his son

you only needed to really work before the boys filmed which was often but didn’t take long

Joonwoo was always very excited when ever he saw you

loved trying to help you do his uncles’ makeup

except his dads

just wanted to sit in his dads lap while you did his makeup

for a toddler Joonwoo had an incredible perception of adult concepts

he always seemed to know or understand when his father needed to go work and was quite the independent boy

minghaos life was child, work, sleep, child, work, child

not only did you watch joonwoo while hao worked but you would take him to your apartment twice a month so hao could get a day to himself

it wasnt until one day when joonwoo came back from your apartment and asked when he could go back to mommy’s house

minghao instantly turned away from his work at his sons words

ever since his gaze started to wander to you

during practice he would see you with his son in your lap in the mirror and couldn’t help but smile at the sight of you playing with his son

while his son slept in his lap he would talk to you while you did his makeup

it would take him a long time to warm up to the idea of him even remotely having feelings for you.

it took all his energy +1 to make sure he didn’t seem tired for his son and to still spend time with him

so when he realised he started to like you his first thought was 'not does she like me back'

it was 'fuck, down to two hour sleep now'

obviously you did like him

I mean you had seen him around the boys but just watching him with his son warmed your heart and made you fall for him

however knowing how stressful his life was you just enjoyed the little times you spent together through Joonwoo

once minghao was certain his feelings weren't just a phase he started to think about how to deal with them

after becoming a father he really had to wing it with whatever came at him

but he didnt want to do that with you

especially since you knew more about him than anyone else

1st step was kicking out Jun and Jeonghan

Jun was not happy about being taken away from his precious nephew so he had to be pushed out of the freaking door

next was planning exactly how he was going to confess

the only experience he had with girls was Joonwoos mom so he was kind of in the dark

decided to write a song for you

the next couple of weeks minghao asked you to come over and watch Joonwoo while he worked on one of the new songs for the album

he really just wanted to write with you in the room

the first time you were actually alone with minghao was when you were dropping his son off back at the apartment (you had a key dont worry)

you were surprised that The8 wasn't there but it was late so you just put Joon to bed

you went to the only place you knew he would be

you went to the practice room and walked in hearing music playing

by far the longest pause of his entire life

at least it felt like it

you smiled and took his hand playing with his long slender fingers

No buts. You are just incredible. I mean you wrote this incredible song. You are the best dancer I've ever seen. And you are an amazing father.

he knew you were being sincere

it was just who you were

all he could do was kiss yous

the kiss was sweet and soft

his hand went to your cheek while the other stayed intertwined with yours

the kind of kiss that leaves you breathless in the space apart

it was kind of unsaid but both of you knew you dating after that

he wanted to take it slow though because of his son

tried to hide it from the boys and Joon as long as possible

after putting Joon to bed you spent nights together

sometimes helping him with lyrics

sometimes doing.....other things.......

but most of the time you would just fall asleep on his couch just talking

honestly I think that's his favorite thing to do with you

minghao really doesnt get to have civilized conversations with people his own age

(Let's be honest ain't nothing serious going on in svt dorms)

you often fall asleep pressed against his chest with his arms wrapped around you

Joon found you one morning and you had to tell him what was going on

about a month later you told the boys and they were all happy for you since they saw how happy you made minghao

being the one who takes all of minghao's fire insta pics when his insta account gets released

about a year in when Joon was 4 you both decided you wanted to come out to the public

however it was more complicated since that meant showing the world his son as well

he was very scared about how the public would react so when he posted a picture on insta of you and his son in the dance studio he was very nervous and monitored the post with the rest of the boys

Carat had a wonderful reaction and small videos of The8 and Joon started to be posted on his insta

a week later Minghao went to a press conference with both you and his son and explained everything

thankfully most of the fans were extremely supportive and loved your relationship

minghao loved to show off both you and his son

lots of behind the scenes videos of the boys where you can see minghao with you on his lap doing his makeup

his son is always at fanmeets

private dance lessons in the practice room

moving in with him and basically nothing changing in your relationship

you guys still never end up sleeping in the bed because you always end up passing out on the couch

he liked it when you play with his hands and fingers

doesnt quite grasp the meaning of 'help'

he is still so used to being by himself so he has no idea what to do when he comes home at 11:30 and there is nothing to clean up and his son is already in bed and you are asleep on the couch

kind of just stands there for a moment and then realizes how much he truly loves you and carries you to bed

I did it! I finished my NaNoWriMo Project 2019 and am finally publishing it.

This is a very adult story about loneliness when everything in your life suddenly changes.

Summary: Mingyu’s Bachelor party would be the best party ever! And if someone were to wake up with a tattoo and a missing tooth, then so what? As long as no one would find a lone tiger in the bathroom afterwards, Minghao thought with a side glance to Soonyoung, they would be good.

And everything is good, until Minghao sees Golden Jun, the man nobody can forget, upon the pole. The exotic dancer haunts his dreams, but Minghao really needs to get his grip together. Soon he will start teaching new kids in his dojo and he can't afford to be distracted. His new class starts great. Until Jun comes to pick up his son.

A friendship blooms as they bond over being homesick, feeling lonely and Minghao's love for clothing Jun's daughter in the most fashionable baby clothes known to man. As Minghao becomes more and more involved with Junhui’s children he finds himself torn between his lust for the man and the feeling of home.

A ⇴ AFFECTION

Being affectionate around you and your bump is a big thing for Minghao, he’s keen to try and be around your bump as much as possible in whatever capacity to try and bond with your baby and make them familiar with him.

B ⇴ BUMP

In trying to form a bond with your baby, Minghao will often end up spending time in the evening talking to your bump and getting them familiar with the sound of his voice. You can only sit back and admire Minghao as he talks, chuckling to yourself at the voice that he puts on to appeal to your baby, surprised that his voice can go as high as it does.

C ⇴ CRAVINGS

Your cravings were one of the things that fascinated Minghao the most, whilst he knew that it was inevitable that you’d get cravings at some point, he never began to imagine that you’d crave some of the foods that you did. Foods that you hated suddenly became your favourite foods in the world, and Minghao just couldn’t get his head around it.

It was important to Minghao to make sure that you were as prepared as possible just in case your baby decided to arrive on their due date. Your baby bag was packed well in advance, as a just in case, and your nursery finished with plenty of time to spare. Rather than a due date, you could often be mistaken for thinking that you had a due month with how organised Minghao tried to be, making sure everything was in place just to be sure.

E ⇴ EMOTIONS

Taking care of you was the most important thing for Minghao, regardless of fine you often tried to argue that you were. You enjoyed trying to do things for yourself, but as the months passed, the less you could do. Minghao loved stepping in and being able to help you whenever you found difficulty, but with that, he also understood the frustration that you felt towards suddenly being so incapable of doing so many basic things.

You both tried to keep as in contact as you possibly could with your families, sending messages every single day so that they could keep up to date with how things were going. If they hadn’t heard from either of you for some time, your family group chats would be filled with messages of concern, usually from your mums, who wanted to make sure that the two of you were alright and coping as well as you could by yourselves.

From the very start of your pregnancy, the two of you had decided to wait and see until the end. Minghao loved to guess throughout your pregnancy as he read through old wives’ tales, but the uncertainty of knowing whether to believe in what they suggested or not always left him excited to eventually find out too.

The beat of your baby’s heart was Minghao’s very sound to hear in the world. He didn’t care for music, chatter, or anything else, for the nine months that you were pregnant, not a single sound made him happier than when he was able to hear the gentle thuds of your baby growing healthily inside of your bump.

I ⇴ “I LOVE YOU”

His actions often let you know that Minghao loved you the most, he was very aware and usually able to pick up on the fact that you needed help before you even asked. Having him around to take care of you was a blessing, and you sure felt loved having someone as kind as Minghao around, never listening to him complain once.

Even though Minghao much prefers to describe himself as protective over you and your bump, a fair few others would argue that he can get jealous from time to time. He’s not the biggest fan of people having their hands around your bump for too long or getting too close to you, especially when that means that he ends up being pushed away. When he feels like someone has outstayed their welcome, Minghao will definitely push his way back to the front.

K ⇴ KICKS

The kicks of your baby are a surprising source of inspiration for Minghao, especially when he finds a bit of a beat in them. It’s something that he always ends up carrying with him into the studio the following morning, saving it to his laptop in the hope that maybe he might be able to come up with a little something from them.

L ⇴ LABOUR

He’s your biggest support during labour, you were sure that you would have never gotten through it if it wasn’t for Minghao by your side. He was calm and he was composed, even if he was terrified on the inside, the perfect voice by your side to comfort you and reassure you. Even though he was a little nervous too, Minghao knew he couldn’t let you see that, and instead kept he smile on his face and his hand holding onto yours.

M ⇴ MORNING SICKNESS

No one was keen on sick, Minghao definitely being one of them, but he was even less keen on leaving you to battle your bouts of morning sickness alone. And so, every single morning he’d make sure to be there for you and refuse to leave your side until he had managed to tuck you back up in bed with a smile too.

N ⇴ NURSERY

Designing your nursery was one of Minghao’s favourite things to do, he loved to use his creative mind to come up with the perfect theme that he was sure your baby would love, and the two of you would enjoy building too.

O ⇴ OBSESSION

Minghao was obsessed with your hands, he loved how they would almost always instinctively relax over your bump when they were free, holding your bump with pride and excitement over what was to come for you both.

He was very wary about you doing too much too soon after you gave birth, but Minghao tried to trust in you and hope that you would listen to your body. He made it clear to you that he wanted you to put your baby first, but if you wanted to try and do a little more, he wasn’t going to hold you back from doing so.

If he’s been away from you at work for the day, Minghao will always come home and ask you if he has missed anything first of all. Any milestone, big or small, he wants to hear about it and make sure that you’re alright too.

Documenting your pregnancy was one of Minghao’s biggest passions, with the aim of creating a photo wall in your nursery to look back on too. You’d often walk around the house and find him with his camera in hand, ready to snap you hard at work or candidly going about your day whilst trying to ignore him.

Holding your scans was something that Minghao never took for granted, he loved being able to see your baby growing and knowing that they were growing healthily too. He’s very observant of your scan photos and looks into them with a great amount of detail, even if you struggle to make sense of the things that he finds.

You both had sensed that something wasn’t right with you for some time, and after waking up throwing up one morning, Minghao knew that the two of you had to take a test, just for your own peace of mind.

Being with you at your appointments was immensely important for Minghao, the last thing he ever wanted to do was leave you at one on your own.

Xu Minghao is a beautiful mystery that was often left unsolved.

He prefers it this way.

Minghao realizes this after his first heartbreak. Then again after his second heartbreak. After his third, he decides to give up. If love wasn’t in the cards for him then why should he bend over backwards to reach it?

When he reached his twenties and everything spiraled out of control way too fast for his liking. He painted like his life depended on it because realistically in his universe it did. He got around using people for his pleasure and then left them out in the cold just like it had been done to him. Minghao didn’t have time for love, nor did he want it. He reserved his love for his canvases, paintbrushes, and different colors of monochromatic paints.

Then he met you.

His monochromatic colors were replaced by the sweet strawberry pink of your lipstick. His paint brushes swirled around his canvases to the melody of your laughter. Before he knew it a piece of you had infiltrated all of his paintings. Whether it was the exact shade of blue from the shirt you wore that day or the sparkling gaze behind your eyes that resembled his night sky.

He had fallen for you, for the girl that visited the university gallery every Wednesday morning to sit in front of his atrocious paintings that were unfortunately displayed as part of his final project before graduation.

At first, he never said anything, just watched you from afar wondering what thoughts were running through your head as you admired. Did you think his paint stroke pattern was lacking? Did you think he should’ve chosen other colors? Did you think his choice in reds was too dramatic?

Whatever you were thinking, it drove him insane not knowing.

He would pace for minutes before entering the gallery every Wednesday morning. Sometimes he hoped you wouldn’t be there so he could judge his own paintings in silence. His wishes never came true, as none of them ever did but it didn’t hurt to try.

“Are you stalking me?” You asked one Monday morning. After your fourth visit, you had noticed him silently walking around the gallery, sneaking glances at you from the peripherals of your eyes. At first you had assumed he was an art enthusiast like you, and admired the artwork that was displayed. Then you caught him waiting for you outside of the gallery one morning, only entering a few minutes after you had. It could’ve been just a coincidence that morning, but when it started happening more often it scared you.

So you changed your visiting dates. Opting for every Monday instead of Wednesday an hour later than your usual time. It had gone smoothly for a week until he caught on and that’s where you were now.

“Hello,” You waved your hand in front of his face, his features paralyzed in shock only until he caught sight of your hand. “Are you stalking me?

Minghao shook his head and stuffed his hands in his pockets, “N-No, I-I um...these are my paintings.” He shrugs and signals with his head around the four paintings that haunted him day and night.

“So, you’re telling me you’re the The8?” You ask in disbelief as Minghao cringes. There were days when he regrets choosing that as his pseudonym. After all, he was eight when he created it after coming home from his first art lesson. But letting go of it would be letting go of that little boy whose dreams were bigger than his body and he couldn’t disappoint him especially not now.

“Just Minghao is fine.” He nods and takes his hands out of his pockets before drying them against his jeans. “Do you actually like my paintings?”

You scoff before rolling your eyes, “No I just like sitting here.” Minghao’s face falls causing you to let out a shy laugh before shoving his shoulder away playfully, “I’m playing with you I love them actually.”

“Why?”

“That’s a stupid question the The8.” Minghao rolls his eyes before breaking out into a smile as he waits for you to continue. “They’re not peaceful, in fact, I sometimes find them overwhelming to look at but they bring me peace.” Minghao’s cheeks have never felt hotter than before, his heart is palpitating at an uneven time. No one has ever described his painting the way you have and he feels like he’s going to throw up.

“That’s a stupid reason.”

Minghao is now painting nonstop

“When are you going to paint me like one of your French girls?” You ask, chin on his naked chest as you draw patterns against the ridges of his stomach. You have no artistic talent but you love creating invisible masterpieces against his skin. He’s the only one that can see them and he loves it.

“I don’t have any French girls.” He rolls his eyes before sitting up against your headboard and grabbing his discarded boxers and putting them on. “And that’s not the quote.”

“Alright Titanic enthusiast, let me live out my fantasy.” You joke and Minghao laughs as he lays back down bringing you along with him. You pout, “When are you going to paint me?”

“Who says I haven’t already?” He smirks down at you and captures your lips with his in a slow sensual kiss. You sigh against his lips and pull him close, “I think you’re lying.”

“Impossible lying is a sin and I am a child of God.”

“And here you are consummating outside of marriage, God is disappointed in you Hao.” You peck his lips one last time before sitting up. You stand up taking your sheets along with you. Minghao stays laying down on your bed like it was his very own. He watches you closely, taking in the way your skin glows against the light of the rising sun. The way your hips dip when they meet your thighs and he can’t wait to go home again to his canvas, monochromatic paints, and paintbrushes.

If he knew that meeting you would cure his unfortunate art disease he would’ve tried a little harder to find you.

Six months ago his mornings consisted of him rushing out of bed, getting dressed as fast as possible so he makes it to the university art gallery before you. Now his mornings consist of him rushing out of bed, getting dressed as fast as possible to bring you breakfast before you leave for your morning class.

Most days though, you end up pinning him against your front door before he could mutter a ‘good morning’ to you. He doesn’t complain though, he loves the way your body melts against his. Like you were made for him, and fuck he loves it so much he wants to die.

If he were to believe in soulmates he would think you were his.

Minghao’s parents find out.

When he went away for university Minghao lied and told his parents he was studying business communications. He wasn’t sure if they had believed him or if he didn’t care but he had spent four years studying art without their knowledge. He was living in a peaceful fantasy not sure when he’d have to wake up and tell his parents the truth. That their trust fund had gone to a degree where nothing was guaranteed.

He guesses that time is now.

Minghao and you have officially been dating for two months. And he decides to take you home for Christmas.

At first you had declined, told him that he should spend Christmas with his parents and that you were fine staying on campus alone until New Years. Your parents had gone on a couples retreat. It was needed they weren’t doing so hot for years now so you didn’t mind. Minghao on the other hand wouldn’t take no for an answer and that’s how you ended up with him hand in hand on the front door step of his childhood home.

“I should’ve stayed Hao, what if they don’t like me?” You practically yell at a low volume. Minghao rolls his eyes and brings your palm up to his lips. He leaves behind a reassuring kiss before ringing the doorbell again.

“It’s impossible to dislike you. By the end of the night they’ll probably like you a lot more than me.” He reassures bumping his shoulder against yours lightly. You stumble a little and Minghao pulls your hand to keep you from falling. His arm comes to your waist and he’s about to kiss you when the front door falls open. The two of you caught, the guilt rushing towards your faces as his parents stare back at the two of you with wide smiles.

“Don’t stand out there for too long, you'll catch a cold.” His mother's soft voice sounds and wraps around the warm porch light. They open the door further, Minghao’s grip on your hand gets tighter as he pulls you into his home. The warmth wraps around you like a protective blanket and you find yourself never wanting to leave.

For the remainder of the night until dinner Minghao doesn’t leave your side. His hand is on you at all times whether it’s on your arm, or appropriately placed against your back. His mother shows you around the small but big enough for their tiny family house, while his father finishes dinner in the kitchen. When the three of you reach Minghao’s childhood room you feel the tears brimming in your eyes.

His walls were covered with paintings he had made while growing up and seeing them displayed makes you feel proud. You see the improvement and growth in every single one as they’re sequenced by years. Your favorite one is the one he painted when he was thirteen. He notices you lingering on that one for longer than usual as his mother’s voice echoes off his navy blue walls. He never understood what it was about his art that made you forget the world around you, and you never once could explain why to him without changing the subject right away. He just hopes that one day he can get it out of you to understand your admiration.

“You like it?” Minghao whispers in your ear and it makes you jump. He chuckles as his arms find their way around your waist, the panic rushes through you at the speed of light.

“Minghao your mo-“

“Dad called her down to help, it’s just us right now.” He kisses your cheek and stays there before trailing soft kisses down your neck. He kisses it lightly, the goosebumps appearing against your arms. “This was a mistake I shouldn’t have brought you here.”

You go frigid against his chest, as he continues to kiss down your neck until it reaches your sweet spot. “W-Why?” You move your head to the side, giving him more room. He smirks, sucking the spot he’s memorized like it were his color theory notes.

“I’m immorally thinking of every single way I can have you falling apart while my parents are downstairs.”

“Dinner is ready!”

You should’ve kept your mouth shut, that was a problem you always had and it never resulted in anything good.

Somewhere in the midst of dinner you had briefly mentioned your love for Minghao’s artwork and how proud you were that his paintings were being displayed at the University gallery. But you hadn’t known that Minghao had lied and never told his parents what exactly he was studying.

“We’ve been paying for a useless degree?” His father forcefully drops the fork against his plate, a loud clang sounds through the small dining room.

“It’s not useless, it's what I love.” Minghao fights back and stands up, “This is why I didn’t tell you, I knew you wouldn’t approve.” He pushes in his chair, hitting the table making you and his mother jump.

“Of course we wouldn’t, you’re never going to get anywhere in life with an art degree. I didn’t raise you to be a lowlife artist.”

“You barely raised me at all.” Minghao tugs at his roots, he sends you a glare and leaves the room. The tension evident in the room and you don’t know if you should stay seated or follow him. When you hear the front door shut and you go with the latter.

“I-I’m sorry, dinner was amazing.” You stood up and pushed your chair in carefully. You knew you should’ve stayed home, but that was before when you feared his parents weren’t going to like you. Now you should’ve stayed home because your big mouth was always causing trouble.

You made your way around Minghao’s house as fast as you could and walked out forgetting about your coat and purse.

The bone chilling cold gives you whiplash as soon as you walk out. Your eyes land on Minghao, his foot tapping impatiently against the snow covered ground. He’s looking at head into the dead of the night while a cigarette burns in between his fingers. You knew he smoked but he had reassured you it wasn’t a problem and he only did it to relieve himself of all the unnecessary stress. He had stopped though, when you had become his stress reliever instead, but now you were the cause of his stress.

“I-I’m sorry I didn’t know.” You hugged yourself in a poor attempt to keep yourself warm. Minghao scoffed and brought the white stick up to his lips. His eyes closing in pleasure as he takes a long drag. “If I had known I wouldn’t have sai-“

“Sometimes I wish you would just stay out of my business.” He huffed. He flicks his finished cigratte onto the ground and crushes it beneath his boot. “You had no business in telling them.” He sends you a glare and shakes his head in disappointment. You feel the tears start to well in the corner of your eyes and you dig your nails into your arms to keep yourself from letting them go.

“I didn’t know. What was I supposed to do?” You throw your hands up in the air. You were frustrated with the situation and upset with yourself. This wasn’t how the night was supposed to go, but you always managed to ruin every good thing that came into your life. And this was no different.

“I don’t know, not say anything.”

“I just wanted to show them that I don’t care what you do because I’ll support you no matter what.” You sigh, a shiver goes through your spine as he stands up. You take a step back, the look in his eyes giving the bitter winter cold a run for its money.

“I don’t want it.”

Minghao misses you.

Since Christmas he hasn’t been able to paint anything. His mind keeps going back to the look of hurt on your face as soon as the words left his mouth. The tears that fell when you walked down the steps of his porch, shivering, out into the freezing cold. He didn’t run after you because he was afraid you finally saw him for who he was. Someone that was undeserving of your heart of gold. But he stayed and smoked two more cigarettes before walking into his childhood home.

Minghao hasn’t spoken to you in three weeks and tries to fill the void with his cigarettes, to let the poison smoke consume his entire body. Every time he finishes a pack in one sitting he feels even more disgust towards himself.

He wonders if he should call you and apologize for that night. His mind constantly tells him no while his heart continues to yearn for you. He misses your delicate touch burning his skin, he misses getting lost in your soft eyes. He misses your voice and how it sounds like a warm melody even when you’re upset. He misses you like crazy that he feels like he’s losing his life.

The blank canvas before him laughs at him, his constant frustration with himself grows as the night envelops his makeshift studio in his tiny apartment. He needs to paint. He needs one more painting before graduation, one more and he'll be out of the educational art cuffs. One more and he’ll be free to do whatever he wants. But he just can’t because all he sees is you, your hurt, the greyscale of his cigarette smoke and the bright light of his phone as his thumb hoovers over your contact name.

He almost lets himself cave in too. If it wasn’t for the soft knocks on his front door he would’ve finally called. He feels the blood go up to his ears as he realizes the time. No one in their right mind would show up at his front door at two in the morning. Unless it was you.

He lets his feet carry him towards his door. Minghao knows he shouldn’t get his hopes up but had always been a hopeful kid no matter how many times his hope had been knocked down. He takes a deep breath, his long fingers wrapping around the door handle and he rips it open like a two day old band aid. Your tired eyes meet his miserable ones for the first time in three weeks and he feels like he can breathe again.

“I-I...um...come in.” He steps aside scratching the back of his neck. His hair was getting long again. He usually would’ve cut it by now, but you had once told him you loved how boyish it made him look. So he keeps it.

“I’m here to pick up my stuff.” You walk past him. Your oversized hoodie swallows you whole and he can’t help but want to feel your warmth against him. He stays put in his side of the room taking in your appearance, your hair was a different color, a lighter shade than the one he had last seen you in. He loves it. “Minghao my stuff please, I’m tired and want to go home.”

Minghao panics and he closes the space between the two of you, his arms find their way around you and pulls you close. “Don’t leave please, I’m a coward who’s scared and I lo-I-I’m just sorry for everything I know you deserve better than someone who’s never going to amount to anything but please for tonight don’t leave me alone. You can forget about me in the morning if you want, just not tonight please.” He begs into your neck.

Minghao has never once cried for another person, not during his first three heartbreaks, not when his dog died. But the thought of losing you forever shatters him and he finally allows himself to weep.

After the initial shock of having him close to you again after missing him for what seemed like years. You hug him back. His sobs take over the dead silence of the night as you hold him, smoothing out the wrinkles of his paint stained t-shirt. You missed him more than air and although you were still upset with him. The two of you still had many things to talk about, all you wanted to do was hold him the same way he’s held you during moments of pure vulnerability.

“I’ll stay.”

Minghao is in love and he doesn’t know how to tell you.

His paintings don’t hang in the university art gallery anymore. They’re locked away in the storage closet in his apartment. All of them collecting dust, except for two.

When the two of you graduated. The art gallery took down his paintings to display the incoming freshman’s artwork. You had gone with him for moral support as the two of you watched his most hated--your favorite paintings come down. It was a bittersweet moment for the two of you but you could tell it had affected him more than he led on.

“When I get my first paycheck I’ll buy one off you.” You whispered to him as he walked you back to your dorm room. Minghao stops dead in his tracks, his eyes brimming with unshed tears as he grips his two largest canvases in his hands.

“Why would you do that?” He shakes his head before closing the distance between the two of you.

“Because I love your paintings idiot.” You roll your eyes and hold the small canvases you were holding against your chest. “And I love you.”

Minghao’s world stops. It freezes and goes blank. He swallows slowly to make sure he’s heard you right, and when he notices your shaking hands gripping his precious canvases he’s positive he has.

“No you don’t.” He blurts out before he can think and he sees the hurt flash across your perfect features signaling that he has fucked up. He doesn’t know how to handle your confession. Everyone he has ever loved laughs in his face and tells him he was an idiot for thinking they would ever feel anything for him. He almost waits for you to retreat your statement but when you don’t he feels his heart against his throat.

“Fuck, fine sorry I said anything.” You scoff and turn around, walking as fast as you could to create all the distance between the two of you. You knew you should’ve never confessed, you knew he would never feel the same way as you did. You were chaos, too much to handle, at times to clingy and not even that good of a fuck to keep a man. But there had been a little pocket of hope in you reserved for Minghao and sometimes he stared at you for longer than a person should stare at another. So you took your shot. Knowing you could have possibly read all the lingering touches and stares and blatantly obvious signs wrong. That you would end up in another heartbreak but you had really thought your subconscious had been wrong.

Stupid, stupid, stupid, girl.

Wait, wait, stop walking.” Minghao yells looking around frantically and setting his paintings against an isolated light post. He uses all the energy he has left in him and runs after you. His shoes forcefully stomping against the cracked pavement. Minghao’s mind is running at miles an hour and the only thing he can do is laugh because of how badly he wants to kiss you. Tell you you’ve been the sole owner of his heart ever since the first time he spotted you silently admiring his terrible paintings all those months ago and paint.

Is this really the life of an artist?

He’s an idiot, the biggest one on this planet but for the first time in his life, he’s determined to not let the best thing that has ever happened to him slip away.

You have no choice but to stop at the streetlight and Minghao catches up. His breathing is ragged, his fake glasses are slipping down the bridge of his nose, and his hands are shaking from the adrenaline surging through his veins.

He places his hands against your shoulders making you jump, “Minghao forget I said anything it was a mis--.” His mouth is on yours before you could finish your sentence. His hands travel down your back and he pulls you closer, crushing his paintings in between your bodies.

“I love you too,”

Minghao is nervous.

The day he’s been looking forward to and dreading for the past three years has finally arrived. His nerves course through his body like shocks of electricity and he feels like throwing up. When he met you all those years ago, the only person who encouraged his unachieveable dream, in the stupid university gallery, he never once thought he would end up here.

“Baby, are you ready?” You peak your head into the green room, the dark shade of red adjourning your lips catches him off guard. His hands itching to grab the sketchbook and pack of pastels he kept in his bag for moments of random inspiration. He refrains when he remembers he has people waiting for him. People who have gone out of their way to come to see him, his paintings and the opening of his highly anticipated art gallery.

You walk in and close the door behind you. You stand in Minghao’s path and he stops pacing.“I can tell Jun to stall for a few more minutes. He has the crowd wrapped around his finger with his terrible jokes, I mean some of them aren’t that bad but still they aren’t good.” You put your hand against his cheek, your thumb soothing away the worry lines around his perfect mouth.

“How many people are out there?” He whispers and puts his forehead against yours. He thought his nerves were bad on his wedding day, but he’s sure this takes the cherry. He won’t tell you, even though he has a hunch that you already know.

“Last time Mingyu and your father updated me we had reached a few hundred.”

“A few hundred.” Minghao’s eyes grow wider than the moon, his nerves get worse. “I can’t go out there. What if they don’t like me?”

“Look at me Hao.” You place two fingers underneath his chin and raise it. His pupils are wide with uncertainty and you do everything in your power to keep yourself from laughing. Nothing was cuter than Minghao when he was nervous. “You always sell yourself short, these people fell in love with your paintings and I have no doubt in my mind that they’ll love you. I mean honey look at where we ended up.” You offer him a smile before leaning in to place a soft kiss against his plump lips.

“Yeah but that’s different. I was a nobody back then, no one had a preconceived notion of me then. I’m afraid these people might expect a broken artist with a smoking habit and that’s not me. At least not anymore.”

“Who cares what they might think of you, this isn’t about them. This is about you and your dream, don’t let the opinions of strangers ruin this for you.” You nod your head rubbing your thumb over his lips to get rid of the residue left behind by your liptstick. “If it makes you feel better I’m here and so are your parents and your friends. We’ll always support you baby.”

Minghao takes a deep breath and nods shyly. “Can you just hold me for a while. I want to be yours only for these last few minutes of freedom.”

He always pins all of their best grades up on the fridge and makes them feel so special anytime they accomplish anything

Really just kind of goes with the flow

I can def see him going to the studio with little ones on his lap

They kind of just become little extensions of him that follow him everywhere and do whatever he does

And he doesn’t understand bc he’s not sure he’s even a good dad so he doesn’t get why these little beings think he’s the greatest person on earth

But he’s happy to have them around and feels so grateful for his kids

As a result he thinks his kids are the funniest people on earth

They make him laugh all the time

His family are always the loudest people at any party

But it’s cause he lets his kids be kids and never gets upset at them for things kids do

Seokmin’s schedule fills up pretty quickly bc of this

One kid has art class at one and another has volleyball at two and then another has science camp at three

Sweetest, cutest, most precious kids in the whole world

Just a bunch of cuddly kids that are EXACTLY like Mingyu

And Mingyu is just so excited??? To just see them???? Every single day???

Definitely the overly clingy dad that just wants to be around his kids 24/7

And the super embarrassing one too

Always peaks his head in when his kids have friends over

“You guys want any snacks?”

“Oh my god dad, get out!”

But he’s also a super fun dad and his kids are really grateful to have him

And the other boys’ kids love to come over bc he makes the best snacks

Also more like a friend than a dad

Like seriously

Unless you explicitly knew Minghao was his kids’ dad, you’d assume he was their older brother or cousin

They just kind of always chill

Like Hoshi, there are interests of his that he is so so so excited to teach to his children

Especially art!!!

He can’t wait to see how his kids express themselves in a creative aspect

They’re all in an art class with DK’s kids

Which leads DK and Minghao to spend more time together as they wait outside the class for their kids to be done

And then give each other looks as their kids show off their art work

But Minghao is super proud of them bc he can tell that that’s all they really want: to make him proud

Sometimes he feels more like a spectator in his kids life but he doesn’t really mind

Because they’ve always been independent and he lets them decide what they want and is happy to give advice when they come to him

Another dad that feels betrayed bc when his kids learn that Uncle Jihoon writes songs, all they wanna do is spend time with him

Jihoon doesn’t understand how he just has this growing posse of little children that just watch fascinated as he’s sitting in the studio working on new music

Along with, of course, Hoshi walking in to ask if anyone wants to watch him dance, and Seungkwan and Mingyu coming in to offer everyone snacks

But Seungkwan’s kids are kind of fascinated with everything and Seungkwan just has fun exploring the world with them

HANSOL VERNON CHWE

Vernon’s kids see a side to him that no one else gets to see

They unlock a really deeply emotional part of him and he adores his kids

He really really loves the quiet moments with his kids

When they’re falling asleep watching cartoons

When they’re super concentrated on drawing in a coloring book

When they’re happily stuffing their faces full of food

He just lives for the moments where he can watch them enjoying life or figuring things out for the first time or really just existing

He gets really really nervous about being a father bc he doesn’t want to mess anything up

But he knows that as long as he keeps his mind open to learning and keeps his kids’ best interests as his first priority, they should all be ok

Occasionally gets overwhelmed with how much he loves them and will just grab them and kiss all over the top of their heads

Just a cute dad who really really loves his kids

LEE CHAN

Since he’s been babied by the other boys for so long, he loves being able to baby his kids

They are SPOILED beyond belief omg

He’ll buy them anything or do anything with them or cook anything for them just to see them smile and show them the love he has for them

Convinces his kids to take little dancing lessons from Uncle Hoshi, since Hoshi is jealous that everyone’s kids want to learn about song writing from Uncle Jihoon

Aside from Coups, Dino is probably the most excited that him and all the boys are still good friends even well into their fatherhood days bc it means his kids grow up with extra Uncles and tons of cousins

It’s also a relief to know that his kids have so many other people besides him they can trust to ask for help or advice

To him it’s just like SVT kept growing bigger and bigger

They’re all one giant family and he wants to keep it that way bc he wants his kids to feel safe and supported their whole lives

a/n: i really dont have the time for a whole au for this so uh here’s a headcanon because i just needed to like write it down somewhere. maybe one day i’ll make a mini series for each of them or smth

Choi Seungcheol

he’s the boss

he doesn’t own the daycare but he works directly under the owners

they’re family friends of his

he absolutely adores the kids at the daycare

he knows every kid in the daycare so well

like he knows who needs what and when

he always has the answers so everyone goes to him when they need help

moms always hit on him but he doesn’t realize they’re trying to hit on him

tbh he’s too busy making sure the kid didn’t forget anything lmao

while he does mostly work with the older kids (so basically anyone outside the baby room) he does do everything

all of the kids love him so much

Yoon Jeonghan

honestly he technically was never officially hired

they were really low on staff once so Seungcheol begged Jeonghan to help

he promised to pay him so Jeonghan said yes because he needed money

but even once they hired someone else, Jeonghan kept showing up

so he just works there now

he was really,,,,,,,not into taking care of kids lmao

he’s like the stereotypical new dad who like holds his baby wrong and is like ‘wtf is this???’

but he’s gotten the hang of it and a lot of the kids love him

he’s convinced them he’s a real life angel

Jihoon is trying to undo that by telling them the opposite but some of the kids only think he’s even cooler

always gets hit on by the parents

Joshua Hong

he’s one of the preschool teachers

he doesn’t like having anyone call him Mr. Hong so the kids call him Mr. Josh or Mr. Shua

he hits on a lot of the moms

may have slept with one or two of them but that’s neither here nor there

like Jeonghan, he teaches them that he’s this perfect gentleman (mostly so they’ll go home and tell their moms that)

again, Jihoon tells them otherwise

he has so many drawings from his students and he keeps all of them in a big folder in his desk at home

refuses to throw anything the kids made away

but while he’s sweet with the kids, he doesn’t really have a good track record with calling anybody back

always scolded by Jihoon and Seungcheol

Wen Junhui

the kids love him because he’s basically a large child

the kids love him so much

he literally lets them climb all over him he loves it

loves to help the kids with lunch and snack and stuff

he mostly works with the toddlers and not so much the babies

he’s like Jeonghan when he first started working there but only with babies

teaches the kids words in mandarin all the time

loves to tickle them and make them laugh

whenever a kid is crying, Jun’s the guy to go to

gets hits on a moderate amount but is too flustered to do anything about it

Kwon Soonyoung

claims he’s the one in charge is Seungcheol or Jihoon aren’t there

thankfully at least one of them is always at work

like Jun, he acts like he’s one of the kids

but sometimes he’s.......too extra with it

banned from the baby room for being too loud all the time

usually in charge of circle time

teaches them little songs and dances and stuff

lowkey hoped working at a daycare would help him meet someone but all the kids go home and tell their parents about how goofy Soonyoung is

so none of the single parents take him seriously so when he’s trying to hit on them it doesn’t work out

at least the kids like him

though sometimes they bully him or throw their toys at him lmao

Jeon Wonwoo

the other teacher

Wonwoo teaches the older kids who come in after they’re at kindergarten or first grade

but that’s not until the afternoon, so during the morning, he’s usually in the baby room

Wonwoo’s a much quieter teacher than Josh but his kids adore him

he’s the true gentleman

seems like he’d be awkward with kids but he’s so good with them????

if they’re crying or upset, he’s soft and patient and understanding

he’s perfect with babies because he’s already quiet and gentle

and unlike Josh, he keeps things more professional with the parents

even if a lot of kids insist they want him to be their dad

Lee Jihoon

somehow, he became the second in command to Seungcheol

he was hired around the time that Jeonghan started getting dragged there

and despite claiming he had no training and hadn’t ever really worked with kids, he was a natural

and kids loved him even though he seemed so cold and annoyed toward everyone else

but with kids he’s so sweet

if a kid is being a brat he absolutely won’t put up with it, though

he’s a lot more blunt with kids misbehaving than Seungcheol is but he at least gets them to behave

moms used to hit on him but he made it painfully obvious he wasn’t interested

like Seungcheol, he also works with all he kids, but he mainly stays in the baby room

Lee Seokmin

he assists Wonwoo with his classes in the afternoon

but during the day he goes between the baby room and staying with the rest of the kids

known for singing kids and babies to sleep

the kids are so in love with his voice

he’ll sit on the floor and they’ll all lay in like a lil pile around him and just listen to him sing as they fall asleep

probably loves helping with crafts more than he should

he’ll make one for himself and bring it home like a proud child lmao

tbh he has baby fever real bad

Kim Mingyu

assists Joshua’s class

tries to sit at the really short tables with the kids but his knees are like in his chest

no matter how many times he does that, the kids still think it’s hilarious

doesn’t really assist with crafts because he would mess it up

he already made three kids cry for ruining their crafts and he refuses to mess up again

of course he’s popular with the parents

but honestly even like 5 of the little girls insist they’ll marry Mingyu when they’re older

Mingyu just thinks it’s cute tho

Xu Minghao

mostly stays in the baby room

lowkey has baby fever like Seokmin but won’t admit it

but also thinks the single parents (and tbh even some of the married ones) coming in and flirting with everyone is really dumb

loves holding the babies and trying to get them to smile

occasionally assists with the older kids when help is needed, like with recess or something

the kids think he’s so cool because he always speaks to Jun in mandarin

but he’s kind of a little more awkward with kids so he just get’s all blushy and mumbles a thank you

then retreats back to the baby room

Boo Seungkwan

tbh just applied for the job because he thought it would be easy money

he’s suffering

it’s like kids know he’s not that great with kids and try to rub it in his face

they climb all over him, throw food at him, color on him

tbh they give him the hardest time out of anybody else

his bad luck carries over into the baby room

Seungcheol thought maybe he should work in there instead but he always gets spit up and thrown up on

let’s just say he has to basically keep a whole closet in his car because he’s always changing his clothes

but there are still really cute moments where a kid will crawl into his lap and ask him to read to him or when he sings to a baby and it smiles up at him

so he suffers through the pain for those moments

Hansol Chwe

literally the chillest worker there

kids and parents alike both love him

babies, not so much, but that’s fine because he doesn’t really know how to hold a baby anyway

tbh he doesn’t really like know what to do and when he just kinda follows what everyone else does

he’s not the best with kids, but I mean, he keeps them alive and mostly happy so ?????

he’s not one of the favorites but he’s trying

he might try to help a crying kid and only make them cry harder but he’s t r y i n g

kids don’t hate him and that’s what matters

and he does his job

Lee Chan

y’know how Soonyoung says he would be next in charge after Jihoon? it would probably actually be Chan

he’s good with babies and kids

sometimes pops into the classes to help out

sometimes pops into the baby room to help out

the owners love him and think he’s awesome

he’s great with the parents too

like he’s one of their star employees

he loves kids and babies and kids and babies love him

Xu Minghao.

A new name you go to know since this new semester started. His name has been heard a couple of times around — have you met the new transfer? The transfer has designed his own clothing line at sixteen. Apparently Minghao is a heir to one of the top fashion industries. Wow, his clothes cost more than my rent in a year.

And you were content never meeting this transfer, heir, fashion major student until he set foot into your coffee shop.

The clothes he wore on your first meeting was quite memorable, a rich, navy blue pinstripe suit and plain pants, a loose dress shirt unbuttoned at the top to show off his slim figure, a ring on his left middle finger and right pinky — yes you remembered — and a black scarf similar to an ascot with white writing.

Everything was fine until he waltzed up, asking for a venti macchiato whilst talking on the phone to someone. You didn’t hear him the first time due to how quick he changed from one language to his native one, asking if he could repeat it.

He repeated it harshly this time, going back to his conversation as he throws a random note down, too unbothered to care. Of course, you had to ask his name to indicate it was his, to which he replied, “Xu Minghao.” And he — finally, you may add — leaves to wait for his order

“I will fight you.” You inhale sharply under your breath, deciding to personally do his order for him so that you can have the joy of writing on the cup at the end.

Since that day, you could never get rid of the look on Minghao’s face when he read Minghoe, the last three letters in capitals.

It was childish, but well-deserved to the owner.

Down the line, you’ve tried to find ways to misspell his name when you took his order, never failing to miss the phone next to his ear that would make him so rude.

Mingho, Myunghao, Minghow, Mingnoodle — for when he permed his hair one time — Mingles, Minghoho, Hingmao, Shoe Mingkachow; to name a few nicknames.

You aren’t sure when you’re going to stop it, but it’s not going to be soon, definitely.

He was wearing something more relaxed given that it was sunny, but the extravagance remained at its peak with red sunglasses, shoulder bag over his paint-splattered denim jacket, grey striped pants completing the look.

You finish writing the name for his order, calling out his name to collect it before you run to hide, leaving the cup. “Xu Minghao!”

“Honestly ‘Gyu, I’ve been trying to beg him for days.” Minghao sighs, thinking about his upcoming evaluation, the thought making his palms sweat. “He’s the one who told me detail is everything, but he cant even let me get the silk I specifically need for this.”

Staying silent, he stands in front of the counter where his lonely cup is to listen to his friend, catching a glimpse of a person hiding behind their coworker. He ignores it anyway.

He sighs, “I don’t know. Just thinking about it makes me mad, and...” He takes a quick glance at his beverage, “By the looks of my cup, I’m not going to feel any better either... Yep, I’m at that coffee shop. They make good coffee — I just don’t know who whoever writes my name think they are. I’ll call later.”

Without any goodbye, he hangs up and shoves his phone in his pocket, holding up the drink to read. He’s noticed this with his drinks ever since he began ordering, somehow overpassing Starbucks with their horrendous spelling, and in any other coffee shop, the spelling would correct.

“’Shoo’?” Minghao reads, guessing it’s a reference to his last name. He really wonders who keeps spelling his name in disrespecting ways, but he can only sigh, suddenly not interested in the extra teasing, leaving the cafe without his drink.

Everything wasn’t going right today.

You slowly walk back, picking up the macchiato with the words shoo scribbled, wondering why he didn’t bring it with you.

For the first time, you felt... Disappointed.

Working for the rest of the day, you get exhausted when less people come and the day darkens, watching people happily go home while you still have to cover up the shift for your coworker so that you can have the weekend off.

Sitting alone at the counter, you decide to check the back for anything to refill for the next day.

“Um, hello? Anyone?”

A voice calls while you aimlessly look in the darkness of the back cupboard, surprised a customer came in. “Please wait, I’ll be coming quickly!” You wash your hands and rub them on your apron, hurrying to the front. “Sorry about that, what can I do—”

You pause. Minghao?

He’s wearing something different — how many times does that guy change in one day? — an all-black shirt and pants, except for his beret, a stunning red, a watch and necklace as his accessories.

Minghao only looks at you, eyebrows knit together. He clears his throat, noticing you’ve been quiet for way too long. “Do you still have my drink here? I left it earlier. It was a ve-”

“Venti macchiato,” you finish, snapping out of your daze. Minghao’s eyes fly open, about to question it before you indicate your hand to an empty table. “Just wait there, I’ll see if it’s still here.”

“Okay,” Minghao slightly bows, walking away.

You find his cup still where you left it, flashbacks through the day of how you’ve been holding that cup ever since, but instead, you turn on the machines again.

“Excuse me?” You call to the male. “I found it.”

“Oh, really?” His voice peaks up, pleasantly surprised, walking towards the counter.

“Guess someone must’ve put it in the back. Anyway, here you go.” You hand Minghao the cup, watching him take it without question.

But he doesn’t leave straight away. He feels his cup, noticing the warmth. “Sorry, I don’t think this is mine, it feels like it’s newly made-”

“It’s for you, go check.”

Minghao frowns a little, taking one last look at you before he turns the cup around, seeing his name spelt properly on the cup.

“I didn’t even tell you my name,” he begins, but you stop him.

“Yeah, well...” You reveal the original venti macchiato from under the counter, proudly written with Shoo, pushing it to him. “Kinda knew what it was anyway.”

“Wait, you’re the one who spelt my name wrong?” Why does he look angry, you think, why does he—

“Yes,” you utter out loud, “and maybe every single one of your orders?”

You know you’re about to get into deep trouble until laughing is heard.

He’s laughing.

Minghao’s laughing.

“Was it something I said?” You question. His laughter still continues, a squeaky giggle as his eyes crinkle into smiles. “You don’t... Want to fight me?”

“No, not at all.” Minghao shakes his head. “I mean, the names were awful but hilarious at the same time, but I’ve been thinking who it might’ve been for the longest time, I even had a bet with my friend Mingyu and we’re still both wrong!”

“But what about today? You looked pretty mad after reading the cup...”

Minghao’s face softens at the sound of that, suddenly shy. “You saw? Oh right, that must’ve been you then...” His voice goes silent yet he still answers you. “It’s nothing, just troubles with my fashion assignments and stubborn dad.”

“Tell me about it.” You hum.

“Do you really wanna hear all of it? I’d be wasting your time.”

“Hey, I’m in this dump until eleven tonight, entertain me.”

Breathily laughing, Minghao nods and brings a barstool near the window to prop it on the counter, drinking his misspelt and correctly-spelt macchiatos as he talks.

Maybe Minghao wasn’t a fighting-worthy person after all.
