Israel - Jerusalem Yad Vashem (Holocaust Museum)
To understand Israel, one have to understand the history of its people. The traumatic peak of the Jewish diaspora was the so-called holocaust in the 1930’s in Europe. The official website of Yad Vashem explains: “The Holocaust was unprecedented genocide, total and systematic, perpetrated by Nazi Germany and its collaborators, with the aim of annihilating the Jewish people. The primary…

#marellagiovannelli #sexteenobjects #giornatadellamemoria #mostra #bundestag #yadvashem @yadvashem  #gerusalemme #berlino #shoah #genocidio #olocausto #comunitàebraiche #jewishworld #mischahillesum @worldjewishcongress #ettyhillesum

" Erdbeben
Der Stadtgarten.
Das goldglänzende Gitter.
Geschlossen. ??
Aufsicht. Schöne Gespräche geführt. Die Ausstellung läuft noch bis zum 20.08.22. Wer also seine Zeit hier verbringt. Lohnt sich.
Recha Freier starb am 2. April 1984 in Jerusalem. (5,2)
" Ich schlafe, aber mein Herz ist wach."

Fred Lessing was born in 1936 in The Hague, Netherlands. One night in 1942, a friend warned Fred’s parents that their names were on a list of Jews slated for deportation in the coming hours. The family hurriedly left the house with nothing but the clothes on their backs. On the way out, Fred managed to grab his little teddy, “Bear." For the next three years, Fred was hidden in a number of homes with Christian families, always making sure to keep his true identity a secret. During this time, Bear was the only one who accompanied Fred as he moved from house to house; he became his closest friend, his confidante, and source of comfort.
After the war, Bear remained with Fred and went with him to the United States. Years later, Fred agreed to make Yad Vashem Bear’s new home. He struggled with the idea of sending his little bear so far away. But after careful thought, he called Yad Vashem and said: “I spoke with my bear and I explained to him that, for the first time ever we would have to part. The reason was that he had to carry out a special task – he had to travel to Israel to take part in an exhibition with other toys from the period of the Holocaust and there he would tell our story to the children who came to visit the exhibition.”

Over 6 million Jews were killed as the primary targets of genocide and eradication in the hands of the Nazis and in the hands of those supported the Nazis actively or quietly. Over 6 million documented Jews were killed. My grandparents are survivors and heroes of the Holocaust, the Shoah. The vast majority of my grandparents’ family and friends and communities were killed along with the more than two-thirds of European Jews who were brutally eradicated by the Nazis and their collaborators. 75 Years ago, Nazis fled Auschwitz, one of the main killing centers of the Nazi war machine. While the Nazis were losing the war, they continued to kill Jews as a primary focus of their agenda. As the Nazis fled many of the concentration and death camps, they took many of the remaining Jewish prisoners on death marches, if they could walk, my grandfather was among these prisoners on the death march. The tortures continued as the Nazi machine continued after Auschwitz and other camps were liberated by the Americans, Russians, and allied forces. I understand the gift of life that I have, because I am descended from those who were lucky to survive the horrors of where Anti-Jewish rhetoric and actions can lead. I will always stand up, with my voice and actions, against Anti-Jewish attacks and against any hate-filled attacks agains others. I do so in honor of my grandparents, the other survivors, and in honor of the millions of documented and undocumented who were tortured, brutalized, attacked, and killed. #auschwitz #auschwitzbirkenau #auschwitzconcentrationcamp #auschwitzmemorial #auschwitz75 #shoah #shoahfoundation #holocaust #holocaustremembranceday #holocaustmemorial #holocaustsurvivor #holocaustmemorialday #thirdgeneration #grandchildofsurvivors #shoahmemorial #yadvashem @uscshoahfoundation @yadvashem @yadvashemusa @holocaustmuseum @auschwitzmemorial (at Auschwitz Memorial / Muzeum Auschwitz) https://www.instagram.com/p/B74JL7HBo96/?igshid=i6q223b8rkil
