Dear Anon and everyone waiting for their ficlets to be written: I was in a bit of a January blues and some RL stuff happened so I hope you still can enjoy this little YaiFe ficlet even if it’s late. I adored writing for those two and really need to step up my game when it comes to writing wlw, because I love writing it but it kind of takes a higher emotional toll from me than writing mlm… Nevertheless please enjoy this short fic 💖
YaiFe Ficlet
Yaimai didn’t like coffee. It was too bitter and left a weird aftertaste in her mouth. She liked the smell just fine and… she had no idea why she thought about coffee of all things but maybe because Kafe had short-circuited her brain?
She felt the soft waves of Kafe’s hair on her face, the warm grip of her fingers on her shoulders and the light press of her lips against hers. The kiss lasted an eternity or maybe only a second and at the end of it, Kafe hugged her once more. When Kafe smiled at her and moved away to bring over the little tablet with fruits and water she was sure that she had dreamed the whole kiss.
Why was she here again? She had thought Kafe wanted to show her the little flat she was living in now and needed her help to decorate the place, but instead, Kafe had hugged her on the door, had taken her hand to lead her to the wobbly little desk in the very tiny kitchen nook and had sat her down and had kissed her…
Yaimai had thought she knew everything about kisses. She always felt that she was more experienced than her classmates or friends when it came to kissing, but…
Was this how Guide had felt? Their first kiss was still important, still felt special but… she didn’t have the feeling of seeing the world in different colours now but didn’t seem everything a bit brighter?
Was this why Guide hadn’t been able to let go of the boy he kissed? And why was she thinking about her ex-boyfriend when Kafe had kissed her a minute ago?
She caught herself staring at Kafe who chatted away about her adventure of finding a job and apparently it was very difficult if you weren’t able to provide a form of identification. Yaimai nodded as if she had listened.
Kafe’s hair had grown out a bit she noticed, it almost touched her shoulders now. It had gone lighter, too. Maybe because she now was going outside more, but still mostly under the watchful eyes of P’Good who sometimes hovered over her like a father.
After hearing about the crazy stuff that had happened to Guide and his friends Yaimai had taken it upon herself to take Kafe out of the all-men-household and had introduced Kafe to decision-making when it came to her own appearance. Weirdly enough she and P’Elle were twinning sometimes when it came to outfits. More than once they had shown up in the same style or colours. Maybe that happened when you share one body, who was able to change gender…
“Are you alright?”
Yaimai knew that she had been staring, and thinking in rounds and rounds and rounds with prickling lips and a burning in her chest.
Kafe sat before her, her face resting on her hands with those twinkling eyes, who looked at everything in wonder.
And maybe… for once in her life, Yaimai didn’t have the thought of holding onto something breakable. Kafe seemed, for all her otherworldliness, as solid as a rock.
Yaimai leaned forward, some of her hair dipped into the water glass, her hand knocked orange slices from the plate and she softly pressed her lips against Kafe’s. And her heart trembled, and shattered and became whole.

Yaimai and Kafe meet at the airport. Yaimai’s back home for the holidays and Kafe being the Distinguished Lesbian she is (you can pry this characterization from my cold dead hands) is coming back from a holiday.
Kafe’s girlfriend broke up with her before she went on a holiday so she’s at that part of healing when she’s HEALED but she still needs to take baby steps.
they have a cheesiest meet cute. I’m imagining them bonding over how long the baggage claim is taking and switching between jokes and sharing about their lives with ease. Because airports are a liminal space
But It’s 20biteen so yall can imagine whatever you want, it’s valid, just crank up the cheese to 200 (cause it’s what we deserve!!)
Kafe thinks Yaimai is super cute from their first interaction but when they date later on she finds out Yaimai also takes no shit and she is very into that.
She doesn’t like Guide that much but she’s civil. No one knows how to react to Yaimai’s intimidating older girlfriend (especially good, bless his heart) and Yaimai finds it hilarious because
she understands why but at the same time her girlfriend is a big old softie??? the kind that likes to wink at yaimai whenever they make eye contact and she thinks no one is watching
Example: One time Yaimai follows Kafe to a work function and some dude in a suit makes a condescending statement and in return Kafe fucking destroys him but he won’t realize it until later and she winks at Yaimai the moment he turns around
they’re touchy!! the way we know girls like to be and the lowkey this is already canon from the little we saw of kafe 3.0. like, hands on hip, pinkies looped together as yaimai looks through clothes at the mall, yaimai’s fingers looped through kafe’s belt loop while kafe’s buying tickets at the cinema, leaning against each other whenever they’re sitting next to each other. THEY TOUCHY!!!
im not gonna imagine how they’re gonna be like when Yaimai has to go back to England this is a fluff zone!!
except for this one: whenever Kafe goes to visit her she definitely spoils Yaimai. Like, Yaimai’s just walking around her campus and Kafe comes to pick her up by driving in with her fancy ass car and walking out looking hot af and it leaves her friends shook
