We’ve hit Spring Friday in this Chill Valicer Save update, and you know what that means -- Love Day! :D And you know what that means?

It means I took 85 pictures of this particular playsession. Well, technically, I took even MORE than that, but these are the 85 that I wanted to share with you. Yes, we have progressed to the point of having NINE-PART updates sometimes. So, uh, in the interest of not wasting any time, let’s get right to it!

-->Started with Smiler, taking advantage of there being enough power to run some of their appliances properly for a change, plopping Elmer on the robot workbench and tuning the little bot up before setting it free in the greenhouse to take care of the gardening for Victor. I mean, Victor’s level 10 now, he doesn’t NEED to do it himself anymore except when it comes to planting new stuff. Always nice to have a little helper around the house!

-->While this was happening, I spotted Shadow looping through the poles on the obstacle course. NOW you do it. *facepalm* Silly dog.

-->With the greenhouse taken care of, Smiler kept doing chores -- namely, scrubbing the downstairs bathroom sink (seriously, look at how grody that is) and putting on a load of laundry (again, because the house could actually power the washer for a change). Clean house and clean clothes equal happy Sims, after all!

-->Alice ended up woken up by Kelly’s meows -- as we’d both learned that lecturing the cat for waking Sims up tends to go badly, Alice instead just threw on a warm sweater and played “laser mousie” with her kitty. Before taking a very brief Wolf Nap on the floor to keep her energy up and keep her “Must Hibernate” temperament satisfied. Being a werewolf is weird sometimes, is what I’m saying. :p

-->While that was going on, Victor woke up from hunger, and I decided to send him downstairs and see what Delicioso had on the menu. Turned out to be a salad, which, unusual for breakfast, but okay. He ate that, then went to leash up Shadow for a walk while Smiler recycled some trash and Alice, also hungry, grabbed some meat out of fridge to make steak tartare. I know her awesome knife skills in that last picture is because she’s Cooking 10, but I like to think her Vorpal Blade prowess has something to do with it too. XD

#today's gone Badly and i'm upset but instead of venting abt it i'm gonna channel that energy into doing a bit of tag rambling abt Boothill #well. less abt Him and more abt uh. self-analyzing my anxiety surrounding contributing to fandoms. he's just today's catalyst #like. i know it's mostly a me thing. i'm hypersensitive to criticism and very conflict avoidant + socially anxious + perfectionistic etc.#so I'm the one that keeps myself from posting more stuff out of fear of being criticized or called-out for what i've made #bc inevitably Someone's gonna see it and think its OOC or a problematic take or they'll misread my intent. etc etc what have you #but like. that's inevitable. there's no way to communicate every single thing with all of the nuance required to avoid misunderstandings #and other times it's not a misunderstanding it's just a difference of opinions and that's Fine!! there's no accounting for personal taste #there's no accounting for several things actually. taste‚ bias‚ lore-knowledge‚ differing levels of chronic-online-ness‚ etc #so this isn't me complaining abt the state of fandom culture (although i do think. sometimes. ppl take shit a bit too seriously)#but anyways all of this is mostly just anxiety-fueled. it's not like i very often actually even receive negative feedback or anything #if anything ppl tend to tell me that i'm overthinking it and killing my own fun and worried that my stuff is more OOC than it is #which like. yeah. Yeah u right :) but that's just the way that i am! always losing the idgaf war i suppose #anyways what's Boothill got to do w this ur wondering. well. i've been thinking abt the quickly emerging concept that he's illiterate.#and it just. has me feeling a lot of ways. and watching ppl disagree over it has me feeling some Bad ways. bc it's def a loaded topic!#if you'll pardon the pun there. and i don't rlly have anything new to add other than that i'm conflicted abt it.#like yeah i saw the leaks days ago. of him mentioning 'not hitting the books' much as a child when we ask him why he sends voice messages #or voice Transcriptions ig. ykwim. and like. *braces for impact* ...i liked it? like. it doesn't feel right to call it endearing #i'm not trying to infantilize him. ok that's not the right word either but ugh. you know? what i mean?? who am i kidding even i don't know #it's not quite right to say that it feels like Representation either. but it's something close i guess #as a southern person myself who didn't receive a 'complete' education due to factors that weren't to do with my intelligence #the concept of seeing him as a capable force to be reckoned with and respected who also happens to have not received much formal education #i like that. i do. but there's so many issues w it at the same time. like. as i said‚ being southern myself has me Wary of the way Hoyo is-#writing him. as well as of the way that the fandom is taking the bits of his lore and running away w them. and i'm Very aware of how ppl-#will see a southern character and be All Too Eager to agree that they're lacking intelligence based on our Redneck™ stereotype #sigh. and before we even go too far with this. it's not even confirmed that hes completely illiterate. which is a valid criticism i've seen #there's Multiple reasons that could make him prefer voice to text. but regardless. i'm just worried that ppl will misconstrue my intentions #like. example: that edit i made the other day of him saying 'no thanks i can't read'. wasn't me playing into the stereotype of-#'haha dumb country boy can't read!' it was. in my eyes. something he'd say as a joke to make light of a potential insecurity #like. i think there's far more depth to Boothill's character if ppl could look past the surface. and i dont wanna contribute to the problem #but sometimes ppl Will have stereotypical traits and i wish the same could apply to characters as long as it's done Thoughtfully.

So I know the quality sucks and we don't get any better quality to compare, but I just wanted to point out that, yes. Baby Carlo has freckles. Very few of them. But you can see the ones he had since he was a wee young lad standing out in his painting.

i keep seeing clips from hozier concerts on tiktok i hope the sun explodes and everyone dies amen🙏

#I don't care if something good happened to you it should've happened to ME INSTEAD. etc #there's been several instances now where an artist is touring and I'm not going and the clips make me jealous #but these are filling me with like SEVERE amounts INCANDESCENT jealousy I SHOULD BE THERE.#maybe it's worse cause I was so close. my parents were like yeah we'd love to try and see if we can get your tickets #and then I had to get the bad news that travel was too much (he's not coming anywhere particularly close) with ticket cost #WHICH MAKES SENSE. -->They immediately arrived in the middle of a thunderstorm! *facepalm* I SWEAR, every time I travel... I promptly got the weather machine out of Build/Buy, stuck it on the right side of the lot (where it seemed least likely to block Sim traffic), and had Smiler set it to “clear skies” while Victor and Alice amused themselves with some chess (Alice won, to Victor’s slight annoyance XD). Smiler was successful and went to chat with them as the weather slowly but surely cleared up (though the game took its price by busting their umbrella), then – once the skies were blue and everyone was out of their wet clothes and into nice dry warm weather outfits – I had Victor challenge Smiler to a match while I sent Alice off to a nearby easel in the world to paint some of the benches and trees in the frankly very pretty cherry-blossom tree park behind her. :) Victor managed to win the game against Smiler – guess he was determined to make up for his loss to Alice. XD Once I was sure they were done, I had Smiler head to the front of the park and drink a plasma fruit to make sure they weren’t thirsty, then had Victor hit them with the old Scruberoo to make sure they were clean –

-->And then had Smiler set up the snack stand and start a food sale! Featuring Alice’s strawberry fizz cupcakes, pumpkin spice waffles, blueberry pie, and remaining banana split waffles from the last sale (which – I THOUGHT the game had said were spoiled when I first looked in Smiler’s inventory, but then they were fine again after I started moving items into the stand? O.o Game, what – actually, I won’t complain about you unspoiling my food, carry on) and Victor’s everything bagels. Things were a bit slow at first, so I left Smiler tending the table and instead focused on keeping Victor busy with collecting insects (a couple of locusts fluttering around the park) and making a digital painting of a bench by the big circle fountain a little ways away (which ended up being a masterpiece, nice). Once Victor was sufficiently occupied, I checked back in on Smiler, but only one potential customer had shown up – dude named Patrick who I recognized from the last update at the grocery store. Well, at least that suggested he would buy something! I had Smiler give him a sales pitch, which didn’t seem to do much unfortunately –

Then realized Victor was already done with his painting, whoops. Forgot the ones on the digital sketchpad go WAAAY faster than the ones on the easel! I had him come back and plant a bluebell in the public planters in the park, then tend the plants and before settling in for a bit of cloudgazing while I went back to Smiler. A few more people had shown up by this point, including Marcus Flex and L. Faba from the Magic Realm. Smiler greeted and made insta-friends with Marcus Flex, as is their wont, picking up a new like for High-Energy Sims in the process (seems legit). I kept an eye on them and tried to have them hit as many Sims with sales pitches as they could –

#sims 4 #the lazy save #victor van dort #alice liddell #smiler always #WHY IS IT ALWAYS STORMING WHENEVER I'M TRYING TO DO SOMETHING SPECIFIC OFF LOT #seriously Sims 4 sometimes it feels like you absolutely LOVE thunderstorms #and before anyone tells me I know there's an option to turn them off #but I don't want them gone ENTIRELY #I just want them not to be raging every time I'm attempting a thing in another world #*grumbles*#hooray for the damn weather machine is all I'm saying #but yeah once the weather cleared up it was a very nice day for the trio #the views around Hare Square are quite pretty I must admit #even if the lot itself is a bit 'bleh' because it's so small #you'll see Victor and Alice's paintings later #they practically seem to glow they're so bright :)#and yeah bit of a slow start to the food sale #but then again we often have slow start at the grocery store too #you can probably tell where THAT is going :p #queued

#[ tifa lockhart. ] she had buried the twinges of guilt beneath the narcissism of self-sacrifice. beneath the belief of 'the greater good'.#[ one day i will go at that water tower scene one line at a time on here rather than in discord. ]#[ and i'll do so coherently and logically. ]#[ touching on the word choice of teenagers-- their physical reactions. these voice actors' performances of these lines. ]#[ gestures-- everything. there is so much here but it infuriates me because so much is overlooked. ]#[ and then i'm asked to look at an analysis and i truly feel like i'm told to walk through a dense set of woods with two lit matches. ]#[ or like twenty. ]#[ i've been listening to a tower; a promise for the last hour after having watched the scene for almost 2 hours on the 2nd monitor. ]#[ feral. /feral/ i am about this scene. square enix is nothing short of incredible at depicting human nature. ]#[ the spot where she chooses to sit; what not seeing his facial expressions is indicative of. ]#[ when we keep in mind that they haven't actually genuinely spoken before that moment-- ]#[ like remember-- nojima specified (i will find this back i swear) that cloud's recollection of even younger tifa... ]#[ going 'are you ignoring me?!' during that flashback? is not a genuine memory. it didn't happen that way. ]#[ can we stop forgetting that cloud is an /unreliable narrator/? ]#[ but any way-- /stop forgetting they don't know each other/. not beyond being familiar faces. ]#[ but even just in the moment. she can't see him and /he can't see her/. ]#[ can we talk about how... her 'sadness' initially isn't just aimed at cloud leaving? she specifically says 'all the guys are--'. ]#[ i can touch on every line but lemme focus on a few here-- cloud's little attempt at getting a reaction from her... ]#[ 'yeah. so i won't be back for a long time.' the cool guy. not only does it fail-- 'guess not'. immediate. no thought. no hesitation. ]#[ and then immediately goes to 'think you'll be in the papers?' ]#[ this is the first moment she smiles. you can see it amidst the blur but you can especially hear it in her voice. her tone brightens. ]#[ she looks up; wistful. and it's still there when the camera focuses on her and she mentions the wish. ]#[ and her phrasing is interesting-- 'and when you're a famous soldier'. that on its own can be seen as just phrasing but... ]#[ the inclusion of 'please? just once'. just once. it's not about cloud in specific. it's about being saved. ]#[ and ALSO; can we talk about how it isn't cloud who talks about SOLDIERs being heroes? ]#[ she talks about a 'hero'. not him. he doesn't mention heroes at all; can we talk about that for a second? ]#[ u g h. tag limit again-- i keep counting. don't mind me. i'm not saying tifa is 'selfish'. but i'm saying tifa is being selfish. ]#[ and that makes her an increeeeeedibly interesting character. but i need people to realize and talk about this? u g h. ]#[ also-- ALSO-- did this scene even happen this way? nOMURA AND NOJIMA?? ]
