it's so insane to me how even in 2020 people were shitting on lance even though out of all the races he finished in that season he only finished out of the points ONCE.
out of 11 races he completed he got points for 10.
in the austrian gp lance lost power and dnf (not his fault ofc)
in the styrian gp lance finished 7th (qualified 13th)
in the hungarian gp lance finished 4th (qualified 3rd)
in the british gp lance finished 9th (qualified 6th)
in the anniversary gp lance finished 6th (same in quali)
in the spanish gp lance finished 4th (qualified 5th)
in the belgian gp lance finished 9th (same in quali)
in the italian gp lance finished 3rd (qualified 8th)
in the tuscan gp lance got a puncture and dnf (he was doing amazing, having gotten from 7th up to 3rd-5th before a nasty crash)
in the russian gp lance spun out (this race was so insane, like 3 incidents in the first 3 corners)
in the eifel gp nico raced for lance (he had covid)
in the portugal gp lance dnf (early contact with lando, basically ruined his race)
in the emilia gp lance finished 13th (qualified 15th, only time he finished out of points)
in the turkish gp lance finished 9th (qualified 1st, very wet race)
in the bahrain gp lance dnf (he flipped, scary crash in a scary race)
in the sakhir gp lance finished 3rd (qualified 10th)
in abu dahbi lance finished 10th (qualified 8th)
to summarize, lance isn't as bad as people say he is ur just mad his dad actually loves him >-<

as much as i love defending lance, it is tiring seeing people use the same excuses:
“he’s a nepo baby, billionaire, privileged, etc”, majority of the grids come from some type of former involvement with f1 and have good money. in order to participate in certain levels of sports you need good money.
“his dad [insert rest of the sentence]” yes lance’s father played a huge role in him getting into f1 but so did almost every driver’s parents. i don’t understand why people are treating this as lawrence gambled or placed bets on his son’s career because ive seen parents do that before.
“he hasn’t been told no and doesn’t take accountability”, there is always multiple sides to every story. lance has taken accountability for things he’s done in f1. i’m sure he’s been told no by people before regardless if he’s a billionaire or not. sure lance did not take accountability for this crash, but that is his belief. but don’t go saying that lance is the only driver to do this when there have been tons of drivers who believed they were in right for something but were actually in the wrong.
“he’s a brat” and “i don’t like him!”, this has to do with the fact that lance has money and is considered privileged. you can’t just tell how someone is based off of what you see over the internet. it’s very easy to lie and pretend to be someone you’re not on the internet. it’s exactly like acting. saying you don’t like him is your own opinion but when you run out of things to argue, don’t revert to that.
finally, the slurs and death threats. sure these are privileged billionaires but that doesn’t mean they’re immune to death threats and gross things said about them. they could be suffering with their mental health in silence or speaking publicly about it. as someone who’s been down a dark path and has received death threats during it, it’s hard not to give in. you’re told you need to focus on the support you have but sometimes there’s always those lingering thoughts.
for me, it’s the refusal/denial to see lance as a proper driver and see that he wants to be good and improve but yet people are blind to that because they believe that lance will just be a dick and refuse to improve. if lance felt that way, why don’t we see him recklessly driving, finishing p20, etc every week? why do we see him having the most overtakes at the moment in this season?
just my opinion abt it all since i see f1 twt mostly pr3 stans crying and babying the grown musty looking rat. and yes i am well aware as a lance fan that his father had a huge role of getting lance into f1 and without him lance would not be there, but let’s not dismiss that lance can drive.
and if i said im lowk glad lawrence is there for lance whereas daniel has to kiss horner’s bum which has allegations and misogyny all over it, i would get canceled on f1twt and the pr3 fans would probably leak my address.

I do wish people in this fandom actually liked the books for what they are. And I include myself in that. Not in the way I mean most people, who started with some image from the show and still appreciate the show but decide to merge it with the book canon (the way throbb and Theonsa are so prominent but if you look back into the WAAAAYYY earlier days of fanfic it was mostly greysnow what people were focusing on, the fact that I still have to see the blue eyed white blond haired nepo baby when I go into the tag, the constant use of show scenes and quotes as justification for book analysis, the “oh yes I love Jeyne unlike the Arya stans* -> proceeds to steal her abusive husband and uncomfortable forced situationship with co-victim blah blah blah blah blah blah. When I say I include myself in that I mean that I obviously defend Balon Greyjoy and the ironborn more than GRRM intended. I mean that I hyperfixate on and tend to overdo the supposed importance of characters that are simply irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. I pretend my perception of Xenophobia and racism in the squid prince’s arc is intended by GRRM. I remember a few months ago I decided to distance myself from these books because I was coming to terms with how unrealistic my expectations for his story are. I remember long conversations with my irls, who moved on from these books years ago, and a mutual who left the fandom only shortly after joining because of a similar feeling of mistrust over how the canon will treat Theon in the future and how it has been treating him until now. And I wish all these things were easier to discuss in fandom but of course they are not. I, who fully defended the choice of making him a rapist as I found it an interesting rupture for the reader, am now wondering “wait, isn’t it kind of shitty to have the kidnapped TCK with mild forced cultural assimilation of indigenous people victim subtext who is also described as dark and whose culture is constantly vilified in and out of universe rape his girlfriend/fwb?” And then I remember that GRRM probably has never heard the term tck nor has ever intended for us indigenas tercermundistas to feel mildly identified by the way his culture is spoken about in universe and the fact he is taken away from his parents to be educated and raised by the “civilised and honorable” northerners who arrived at the islands on ships bringing fire and destruction.

Wait Omar have a daughter?
In her 20’s?
Is the college student her stepdaughter because I that Omar was in her late 20’s.
Also yes a daughter of a high profile politician is totally homeless. Omg heard that time Obama eldest try to hide the fact she was the daughter of a former president for her film career…even though she was 25 director who film got into a film festival?
Dear god anyone can smell the nepotism from that age alone. And oh lord how my community fanatical (well many still do) treated the Obamas when they were in office
Wait isn’t IIhan Omar a Somali immigrant? Don’t Somali have a Muslim terrorists issue too? Or am I being racist?
And you guys are supporting the hamas who would have thrown rocks or shoot you for being LBGT
The greatest trick 9/11 did was allow Muslim activists hide their brutal colonialism and act like relatation from other religion groups was because they were racist. Not saying I’m enjoying the dead kids form bombing.
But it weird how I learn about the Ottoman Empire and the janssisaes from 2011 historical fiction game rather than my own education system
She's 41, born in Somalia so can't be president, came in as a refugee in 95, daughter that's in the news is 21, you'd think given her history she'd appreciate life in America more, but instead she acts incredibly entitled.
Also yes a daughter of a high profile politician is totally homeless. Omg heard that time Obama eldest try to hide the fact she was the daughter of a former president for her film career…even though she was 25 director who film got into a film festival?
She lost her campus housing for a few days, she was suspended and that means everything, not that she'll accept responsibility.
Did not know that about Malia, hmmmm
Malia Obama has been labeled a ‘nepo baby’ after presenting her directorial debut
And I imagine people are calling the folks saying that racist,
"Though the 25-year-old filmmaker released the movie under the stage name Malia Ann"
Ya that'll cover it till someone sees a picture.
Emilio Estevez did that starting out, not sure if casting directors recognized him but he mad a run of it before saying ya ok I'm Martin Sheen's kid, Malia would have to do everything blind for that to work odds are her identity leaked very quickly.
Wait isn’t IIhan Omar a Somali immigrant? Don’t Somali have a Muslim terrorists issue too? Or am I being racist?
Went over all but the last bit there, and it's a geographical issue not a race issue so not racist at all, also
Tumblr media
Also there's
Tumblr media
This section is basically middle east came to Africa, Ethiopia has Eritrea blocking their access to the water ever since it broke away too.
Tumblr media
And you guys are supporting the hamas who would have thrown rocks or shoot you for being LBGT
The term "Pinkwashing" was created to express why it's totally different when they support a country or region that would kill them for existing while complaining about the toy section at Target being gendered in the same breath.
More "white man's burden/noble savage" thinking, remember they've also got people in there defending the rape and murder that happened on 10/7, if you see someone saying 'by any means necessary', that means they're ok with gang raping Israeli women and children and any other atrocity you can think of, at least if you want to take them at their word that it really is ANY means.
I didn't say it, they did, and the people that do say it need to convince me they aren't ok with it now. Thankfully nobody I know has gone that route.
The greatest trick 9/11 did was allow Muslim activists hide their brutal colonialism and act like relatation from other religion groups was because they were racist. Not saying I’m enjoying the dead kids form bombing.
They voted as a solid red block for the most part till then, not that I blame them for switching parties then, problem is the portions of the community that are more fundamental than Omar's group is. Might be shocked how many American Muslims hate her because of various reasons most having to do with her not being their kind of Muslim.
But it weird how I learn about the Ottoman Empire and the janssisaes from 2011 historical fiction game rather than my own education system
Ya, I didn't even get that I just started reading one day and managed to plow through dozens and dozens of wiki pages, oddly it all started with the question
"Why did Constantinople get the works" because I knew it was more people's business than the Turks.
youtube
TMBG have a official video, but I like the tiny toons one better

Let’s talk about... this.
<Enigmar> Well, how do you feel about the trial today?
<Phoenix> We'll get through it. Somehow.
Incidentally... the prosecutor today is a new guy, I hear.
<Enigmar> Ah... An easy win, then, yes?
<Phoenix> They're calling him a "true thoroughbred in the history of the prosecutor's office".
...Of course, there's one of those every year.
What does “thoroughbred” mean? It’s a reference to racing horses. It’s the definition of a racing horse that has good genes.
So, for example. Secretariat was basically the best-performing racing horse in history. When Secretariat was bred, his offspring sold at auction for thousands, and some millions - even before they were born! (Many of them turned out to be duds, go figure...) Even though the horse’s ability was completely unproven, the simple fact that they were a foal of Secretariat made them famous and valuable as racehorses by simple genetic association. They were like nepo (nepotism) babies (children of famous actors and directors who get into the film business through their connections to their parents and staked on their reputations).
The prosecutor that Zak and Phoenix are discussing here is Klavier. Which indicates... that the good genes that make him a “thoroughbred” lawyer are none other than Kristoph Gavin’s. This is even before the 7 year gap and Kristoph is already the Secretariat of the lawyering world (unless their parents or other relatives are in the law business too, but that’s unconfirmed). Since this is Klavier’s first trial, no one has any idea of how he’ll perform (other than his good standing from Themis preceding him) and already he’s being lauded as a prodigy prosecutor.
Why is this interesting? I mean, yeah, it’s funny, but...
I’ve been thinking about Kristoph’s black psychelocks lately. Why he took such extreme action to hide what he had done with the falsified evidence, with blaming Phoenix, the diary page and all. The explanation of black psychelocks given in AA5 by Pearls indicates that one who has these locks is not themselves aware of the secrets that they hold. Even they themselves may not, or in fact cannot, truly understand or acknowledge their own subconscious motivations for their actions.
“I killed Smith with a bottle because I am an evil human being“ (or somesuch nonsense). Kristoph says this with a sneer when Phoenix asks him why he killed Zak Gramarye. He constantly denies that he knew Smith was Zak. Certainly, Kristoph knows what he’s done, but he won’t explain why he’s done it, or connect it with those events. It’s all one big coincidence, eh?
Kristoph ended up pulling Klavier into his game in the Enigmar trial. As soon as Klavier called Drew Misham as a witness, he became an accomplice in Kristoph’s fraud. Were this truth to be revealed, it wouldn’t just be Kristoph’s reputation that would be dashed to pieces. Klavier’s law career would be over as well. His thoroughbred reputation would be ruined, and he would be seen as a corrupt lawyer - in an eerily similar way to what happened to Phoenix, too.
Basically, Kristoph was risking taking his brother’s reputation down with Phoenix’s, were the truth ever to be revealed.
I still think Kristoph defended his own reputation out of arrogance and no small amount of selfishness. But could it be, hidden away from himself, there was an altruistic and protective reason that would drive him so far as to kill to keep his secret? Could there be another, deeper reason behind his paranoia that all of this would become public knowledge?
He warns Klavier at the final Turnabout Succession testimony. Don’t do this, don’t ruin your reputation. Those were manipulative words, but... it’s hard to believe there’s not a grain of don’t ruin your dreams just because of me, I did what I had to do to protect you and I wish it hadn’t turned out this way.
I think that’s possible.
