chapter sixteen: the storm of the night before
You had never slept alone in your room ever since you gave birth. Partly because you weren’t well off enough to give Kian her own room just yet, but mostly because it puts you at ease hearing your daughter breathe as she slept.
Even when you two started living in the MX house, you still shared a room — although that was a product of another reason. Yes, the mansion has more than enough rooms to choose from, but Kian was still getting used to all the changes that happened — something in her old routine had to be kept the same. And it wasn’t like you support the idea of leaving your four-year old alone at night, either — especially in a location that might be swarmed by enemies as you slept. Of course, you knew she had to learn to become independent in that sense soon, but you were in no rush to have her grow up as soon as possible.
Thus, in the night before your wedding, when your cousin Seungcheol took Kian for the night to make the preparations the following morning easier, you felt uneasy sleeping by yourself.
Kian was picked up by her SVT uncles a few hours after lunch. As such, you didn’t even have the toddler to tire you out enough. You didn’t have work, either, since your vacation leave had already started. You had already cleaned and rearranged anything that you could, but you were still unfortunately wide awake. Watching anything to pass time was proven to be futile as well, since all the presented recommendations catered to your daughter and consequently just made you miss her even more.
You were told to sleep early, to prevent bags under your eyes. Unfortunately, even if you were trying your best to do exactly that, the silence in your room was deafening — suffocating you, too, almost. Even when you tried to put on some white noise to drown it out, sleep still couldn’t claim you.
Sadly, you couldn’t just grab a drink to help you knockout, either. After all, as much as sleeping early was important, waking up without a hangover was even more preferable.
"Ryuki?" You never imagined that you would’ve to resort to this. Your relationship with Ryuki had gotten even colder in the past weeks, right after your outing with I.M and Player. You weren’t sure why so — and you felt like you were in no position to ask, so you just let it be.
Unfortunately for him, he was the closest thing you had in your daughter’s absence.
"Can I help you?" Ryuki soon cracked his door open, just creating a small enough gap to peek at whoever dared to knock.
You hesitated for a moment as a bit of your sanity came back. Still, you couldn’t stop words from escaping your lips. "I miss Kian."
There was silence first, then— "And? Do you want to make another one?"
Had you been drinking anything, you would’ve surely spat it out. You knew providing an heir was in the contract between MX and SVT, but you hadn’t really talked to Ryuki long enough to ask if Kian already counted. And even if you now had the time to talk, you weren’t really in the mood to venture in that topic.
You snapped your mouth close, after involuntarily opening it due to shock. You immediately turned to leave, "I should’ve just went to Hyungwon."
Yet, before you could take another step, a hand encircled your wrist. "What did you really come here for?"
"I already told you . . . I miss my daughter."
"Our daughter," Ryuki corrected as he let go of your wrist. You then heard him let out a deep breath before he spoke up again, "Just go to sleep, we’ll see her tomorrow."
"I can’t—" You stopped suddenly, as if you thought better about your next words. "I’ve tried and I’m not so sure I can sleep without her."
Something shifted in the air suddenly, although you were unsure why it did. All you did know was it couldn’t be for of a good reason — especially since the temperature felt like it dropped a few degrees.
"It’s not easy sleeping alone when you’ve been so used to having someone next to you, isn’t it?" It wasn’t a question — nor was it still about your present dilemma. It was, for its complications, a long overdue topic — one that bloomed long before Kian was even born.
You sighed, this is going to be a long night.
Slowly, without another word, you turned back towards his direction and sat down in front of his door. Your back was pressed on the oak, your legs crossed and tucked under you. You looked up to meet his questioning eyes, your expression neutral.
"I’m sorry, Yoo Kihyun." You forced yourself to not break the eye contact as you finally referred to him by his civilian name. You needed him to see your sincerity and feel it resonate as much as possible, even if your apologies would only turn out to be futile later. "There are a lot of things I’m sorry for, but there is nothing I regret."
You heard him let out a dry chuckle. "Do you really hate me that much? Did— did I make your life that miserable? To the point that you don’t even feel an ounce of regret for leaving me?"
You hardened the expression you wore. "Don’t put words into my mouth. I never—"
"—But that’s what you meant, isn’t it?" Kihyun cut you off before you could even finish. "You even came up with a scheme—"
"—That’s not—"
"—To leave, involving the leaders of SVT and Hyungwon! How is it that you had no problem telling them the truth, but you didn’t tell me? I was—"
"—I couldn’t—"
Albeit you both initially tried to control your volume, your voices just kept on raising an octave with each argument — as both of you tried to be heard over the other. Thankfully, the whole floor wing was designated for Kihyun, so no one else was around to hear your screaming match.
Unspoken as it was, you were both glad that your daughter wasn’t round to overhear. Whether it was a blessing that Kian was over at Seungcheol’s in the first place was debatable, though. After all, was it really a good idea to address the elephant in the room the night before the wedding — when talking it out wouldn’t guarantee resolution?
By how everything was going, it wouldn’t be too surprising if addressing the past only created a greater divide between you and Kihyun.
It was a miracle one of you eventually managed to collect your mind and calm down. However, for what it was worth, it wasn’t at all surprising that it was you who did.
"Can you just listen to me?" You dropped your voice back down after you realized how ridiculous you two were being by trying to out-scream each other. "Just for a second, just listen. Please."
Your plead seemed to have shocked him, if you were going by the indication given by his suddenly wide eyes. However, just before you could conclude that he finally gave in, he spoke once more. "No.
"No," Kihyun’s voice held an unyielding finality in them, "because the last time I listened to you, you took Kian away from me."

chapter seventeen: the calmness after the storm
Despite Kihyun’s blatant refusal to hear you explain yourself, you still ended up doing so, anyway. Although, admittedly, that feat wasn’t achievable without a compromise.
You recognized you had left him with years worth of hatred and a multitude of unanswered questions, so you didn’t do anything that might potentially invalidate his feelings. Instead, you chose to let him have the microphone until he ran out of things to say — or until he ran out of energy to continue.
Then, once the hoarseness made it impossible to say anything else, you did your best to answer all his questions in order.
You never hated him. No matter how hateful and cruel your actions to him were, you had nothing but love for him.
You were in no way, shape, nor form miserable during your life together. In fact, you were extremely thankful that he went out of his way to separate and protect you from the dark side of MX. Not to mention he allowed you to continue living your civilian life as it was, without restrictions.
He was the main source of your happiness, the sole owner of your heart. At least back then.
Still, despite all of those, you didn’t feel an ounce of regret for ruining what you had then. Because, as you told him before you left, as much as you loved him, you just didn’t love him enough — enough to jeopardize Kian’s chance at a normal and safe life, that was.
"I can protect her. Both of you." Kihyun had long lost his energy to stand, so he had been sitting on the floor early into your spiel. You couldn’t see him clearly since it was quite dark in his room, but you could tell he was leaning against the wall — seating close to his bedroom door and to you, but facing the opposite way. "You didn’t have to leave."
You knew he was going to say that. You also knew he meant it with all his heart. You trust him to do nothing less, which admittedly part of the reason why you strengthened your resolve to leave. You liked how unrestricted you were, with just a tracker locating where you were. With the existence of a child, however, you knew you were bound to lose that freedom and instead be under constant surveillance — especially after what happened to Hayeon. Despite being well aware of his good intentions, you also knew you would end up hating him because of it.
You didn’t want to hate him. And you most certainly didn’t want him to face a situation where he would’ve had to choose between you and Kian or MX — nor, even worse, you or Kian.
"I couldn’t think of any other way that would give our child a chance at a normal life and also eliminate the possibility of you having to choose, so I made the call," you explained further. As brave as you were earlier, you no longer found the strength to look at him as you revealed everything. "I could never bear the thought of hating you; but I figured I could probably live with knowing you hated me, so I— I made you hate me. I made sure you blamed me for every reason why our relationship went down to flames."
"If you wanted to leave, you could’ve just said so," you heard him say. "You didn’t have to do all of that."
"Without the dramatics, would have you really let me go?" You challenged. "Without offering to fix whatever it was that made me want to leave? Without assigning people to trail me and keep me safe? Without checking in on me whenever you thought of me?" You paused to hear his response, but the silence only stretched the more you waited. Albeit he didn’t say anything, the loud silence that followed your prompt was enough. "I didn’t think so, either."
Everything you did back then was necessary. Most of them broke your own heart, but you had to soldier on — especially since your mission’s success guaranteed your removal from Kihyun’s radar. Without such thing monitoring you behind your back, you weren’t burdened with the possibility of him ever finding out. That way, you felt more at ease about raising Kian away from him.
SVT was involved because you needed someone who had similar capabilities as MX. You needed someone who could help you cover your tracks — not just from MX, but also from anyone who might use you against either MX or SVT. You didn’t plan on involving anyone from MX in your escape, partly because it was too risky to do so, but mostly because you didn’t want any of them to break his trust. After all, as much as you didn’t agree that MX’s business was safe enough for Kian’s wellbeing, you value the brotherhood that formed because of it — and, thus, would rather not be the cause of a rift.
Silence followed after you finished answering his questions and follow-ups. However, just before Kihyun could comprehend that you were actually done and not merely taking a pause, you uttered something under your breath. "I needed you to hate me, so you can forget about me; so you can move on.
"I had hoped that you’d find someone else, in my absence. Someone more deserving of your affection. Someone who would love you without reservations, like I did. But, alas." A timid smile suddenly graced your features. Rather than happiness, though, it was an act paired with a tint of sadness in your eyes. You turned towards him, "I’m sorry fate has bound us, Yoo Kihyun."

chapter eighteen: the quietness after the storm
The Yoo Kihyun you knew as his significant other was different from the Yoo Kihyun you had to come back to. He was colder. Meaner. Harder to read.
Not that you were counting his personality change against him. After all, you — of all people — knew what prompted him to be more closed off. Plus, it wasn’t like you two were still comfortable enough with each other to treat one another the same way as before.
Sure, between snide remarks and verbal quarrels, you two were still courteous to one another. Sometimes, the actions were from conscious decisions. Most of the time, though, they were out of instinct — a habit even the passage of time couldn’t erase.
Truthfully, you never really cared if his courtesy was consciously or unconsciously made — just like he does whenever you do the same.
However, for his newest display of courtesy, you somehow found yourself wondering which root it was from. "W— what?"
"Come to bed," Kihyun, without any specifications to guide him, took your reply differently. "Don’t make me repeat it again."
"Why—?"
"Don’t read too much into it," he dismissed your inquiry before you could even finish. "I just need to make sure you don’t run."
You didn’t buy his excuse. Unfortunately, even if you tired yourself hoarse from giving Kihyun his long-overdue closure, you still didn’t think you could sleep alone. Which, ultimately, left you with no other choice.
When morning came, the distance you put before you closed your eyes appeared to have melted with the moon.
Kihyun’s arm, which was nowhere near you when you slept, somehow found its way to wrap around you. Sometime between the transition from night to day, you had somehow gravitated toward him — if he didn’t unconsciously pull you closer in his sleep, that was.
Perhaps it was part of the whole ‘preventing you from running’ ruse. Or perhaps it was just another one of your unerased habit from long ago. Either way, whatever the case might be, his sleeping figure was unarguably the very first thing you saw when you fluttered your eyes open.
There were a number of years when you thought waking up next to him was the only way to properly start your day. When you agreed to be his betrothed for your second gamble, you ultimately decided that continuing to put your life at risk by staying by his side was worth it if it meant you got to start your days with him; if it meant you always had him to give you strength for any awaiting obstacles. You used to believe, albeit quite naively, that everything would be alright, as long as you had him.
And, really, it was . . . until it wasn’t.
You flinched away and attempted to create more distance, immediately realizing that Kihyun probably wouldn’t appreciate your proximity once he regained consciousness. However, much to your surprise, his arm instantly tugged you back — almost on instinct. Perhaps, you could easily blame the sleepiness in your system, but you could swear his hold on you tightened.
You had somewhat mastered escaping a hold, without waking up the person that was holding onto you, thanks to both Kihyun and Kian over the years. However, it wasn’t always effective — especially if the latter was in a sensitive state of sleep.
Considering how Kihyun reacted when you flinched, you could only assume he was partially aware of his surroundings. Thus, if you move one more time, you would definitely wake him up. And as much as you didn’t want to disturb his sleep, you needed him to let you get ready.
After all, neither of you could be late for your own wedding.
Rather than having him wake up abruptly, you chose to ease him into it — just like you used to do back then. "Kihyun," you called softly with your voice hoarse with sleep.
You took a moment to admire him when your first tactic didn’t seem to work, no matter how much you called him. With his eyes closed and sleep cradling him, there was nothing intimidating about him. He was just Kihyun, the man you used to wake up next to, the man you gambled your life for. And, somehow, seeing him in this state reminded you of what it was — and what it could’ve been.
Unconsciously, your hand found its way to his face. Fortunately, before it can make any contact with his cheek, you were able to freeze it mid-air.
Waking Kihyun up by touching his face was a second resort tactic by the old you, the you that loved him with everything that you were. Not the you that left him alone. And certainly not the you that lied and took his child away.
After what you did, you were well-aware that you no longer deserve a lot of things. But, as it seemed, the universe was conspiring to prove you otherwise.
The instant Kihyun’s eyelids fluttered, you retracted your arm back to you. You had half a mind to turn away so he wouldn’t catch you staring, but you already made eye contact with him before you could even shift.
You didn’t know what you expected to happen then, all you knew was you never would’ve guessed the very first thing he uttered after waking up.
"Can you learn to love me again?"

chapter nineteen: the rainbow of the morning after
Your wedding was a small, private affair. That was, if you consider having the entirety of MX and SVT in attendance a short guest list — not to mention the core members of their respective allies.
Considering that your wedding wasn’t really a civilian affair, there were only a handful of civilians present. Even then, all guests — except your daughter — were aware of the true nature of the event. In some form or another, everyone present had ties — personal or otherwise — with a mafia gang.
Although it was undoubtedly your wedding with Kihyun, at its core, it was a mere way for MX and SVT to seal off their alliance. Given that you were only an unofficial member of SVT, you weren’t really consulted with any wedding matters. As such, Kihyun was probably the only one they let privy to its details — and considering how well you two got along, it was no surprise that no information was ever passed on to you.
Really, the only reason you knew the wedding was still happening was due to the days Nari and Hayeon dragged you to get fitted for your wedding attire — once to get your measurements taken and the other to make any necessary adjustments. Absurd as it was, Nari and Hayeon were required by their significant others — Minhyuk and Changkyun, respectively — to not let you see your attire, so even that was still out of your reach.
You absolutely had no idea why you were forbidden to see the only preview you had for your big day. Thankfully, with all the deadlines and other obligations you had, you didn’t really had the time to dwell on it.
When the scheduled day finally arrived, you then immediately understood why MX went through such lengths to keep you from seeing your outfit beforehand.
Your attire was the exact replica of your sketch from five years ago, down to the smallest detail. Albeit you weren’t a fashion designer by any means, you tried your best to sketch your dream wedding attire using your skills as a professional architect. During the eight months of your first engagement, you were also able to sketch Kihyun’s outfit as well, with details added according to his own suggestions and preferences. Furthermore, albeit it wasn’t finalized and mostly just a cloud of brainstormed ideas on paper, you were also able to get started on sketching how you imagined the venue to look like. Of course, just like you did for his suit, you also incorporated Kihyun’s opinions into them. After all, it was supposed to be your wedding.
All your wedding-related sketches were inside a single sketchbook, one you purposely didn’t mix with any other artwork. If you remembered correctly, it also served as a journal to you back then; it also housing a specific portion of your thoughts — starting from the night Kihyun proposed and ending with the day you completed your third gamble. You were fairly certain you were able to take it with you when you left your shared apartment, but misplaced it sometime before you left the country, so you weren’t entirely sure how SVT and/or MX could’ve extracted ideas from it.
One thing was for sure, though: that sketchbook was definitely used during the planning of the wedding.
"Are you ready?" Seungcheol was the one set to walk you down the aisle. According to him, since SVT was the one who extended the olive branch to MX, his party had to be the one walking down to symbolize that. However, in Jihoon’s account of events, you were the one chosen to walk down the aisle simply because Seungcheol lost to Hyunwoo in rock paper scissors.
As such, you were unable to watch Kian walk down as the designated flower girl. Thankfully, Nari and Hayeon — as well as Soonyoung and Mingyu — were more than ecstatic to record that moment for you.
"Ready." As if merely waiting for your confirmation, the double doors opened from the inside — to reveal the path you must walk on with Seungcheol.
Truth be told, you had been contemplating what you were supposed to feel on your wedding day since the people contracted to fix you up started doing their job. Somehow, you managed to convince yourself that you’d be indifferent — after all, your upcoming marriage was contractual. Yes, the person at the end of the aisle was the same as the one in your dreams, but the circumstances were no longer as they were back then.
There was no longer love involved, unlike when you used to dream of the day.
However, when you finally saw how venue was decorated — how the one in charge for the decorations incorporated your ideas from five years ago, despite your lack of direct involvement — you realized otherwise.
After all this time, there was still love — even if it was no longer how it used to be.
"He still loves you, you know," you heard your cousin whisper as you two continued your slow walk down the aisle.
"Wha— what?" You answered in surprise, slightly convinced that he could read your thoughts.
"Kihyun still loves you," Seungcheol repeated. "He never said it out loud, at least not when SVT’s around, but I can tell."
You inevitably made eye contact with Kihyun at the end of the aisle, precisely at the moment you suddenly felt overwhelmed. Although your cousin didn’t say it directly, based on how you noticed him glancing around the venue at the corner of your eye, you connected that he was most likely referring to the wedding itself — somehow implying that Kihyun played a greater role in the preparation than you initially thought. More specifically, it seemed like Seungcheol was implying that Kihyun took charge of the decorations — which hereby also imply that he was the one who deliberately incorporated your ideas into the wedding.
Despite the coldness of your relationship — or lack there of — ever since you crossed paths once more, Kihyun still cared enough about you to make your dream wedding from five years ago a reality. He had no reason to do that, especially since the wedding was merely for an alliance’s sake and he clearly loathed you for the decisions you had made in the past, but he still thought of you as he planned out everything.
Sure, it would be valid to argue that it was merely another display of consideration from his part — or even as a manifestation of an unerased habit from long ago. However, somehow, you knew it was more than just a habit. It was a conscious decision: an act deliberately made — not out of respect, but out of something else entirely.
"Yeah," you replied slowly as memories upon memories of his unerased mannerisms came flashing back. You began to wonder just how frequent his conscious kindness towards you actually showed itself, but you were just too oblivious to take notice of its true nature. "I can tell, too."
You sent a smile on Kihyun’s way, as a silent assurance since you could sense that he was getting worried about your probably-glossed eyes. "You two are the same."
Fortunately for Seungcheol, you had finally reached the end before you could even think about questioning his observation. "What were you guys talking about?" Unfortunately for your cousin, though, it also meant that Kihyun heard his last remark.
"Sea will tell you later, I’m sure." He replied dismissively and cryptically all at once. "For now . . . take care of my cousin for me."
Seungcheol passed your hand to Kihyun, completing his role as the person who extended the olive branch.
With the distance between the two of you now being a mere two steps, you were able to see into his eyes. And, somehow, even if you had looked him right in the eye before, you were barely noticing what his gaze held whenever he looked at you.
Past whatever emotions he was currently feeling, buried beneath time and the clouds, was love. Albeit it wasn’t as it was, with all the scars it picked up along the way, it still exist — more prominent now than it probably would’ve been, especially with the disappearance of the mist obscuring it from view.
You weren’t quite sure how his love survived underneath all hatred and loathing you implanted within its roots, but it did. Somehow.
And maybe, just maybe, you’d let yourself gamble once more.
Can you learn to love me again?
"I can’t love you again," you whispered, only intending for him to hear, "because I never stopped in the first place."

To be honest, you really don’t know what is making your body hotter. Was it the way Kihyun looked down at you, eating your messy state with his gaze or is it the never ending buzz on your bundle of nerves that he hasn't taken away from you for what feels like ages. Was it the way he smirked at your squirming figure or was it the silicone that he moved ever so slowly inside of you.
All of those things made the blood in your body boil. Blush covered your skin with a lace of sheer sweat making you glisten under the light. Your strands were sprawled on his pillow from the amount of struggling you need to go through.
“Don’t you just love it, darling?” His eyes didn’t leave your swollen core. One huge sweet smile painted on his face, such a contrast from all of the scenarios in his head. “Do you love me doing this to you?”
You could only answer him with a rapid nod. Head unable to make up a word, making your mouth to just let out countless whines and mumbles. Your hips moved slightly, getting closer to the toys in hope for them to get you closer to your high. Again.
“Greedy baby wanted more of my toys, hm?” He pressed the wand harder to your clit as he moved the silicone dildo faster.
Your screams echoed through the walls, your back arched to the ceiling. Your sight blurred as your eyes started to prick with tears. “I– I’m close, Ki.”
Kihyun tilted his head to you. He fake pouted before pulling both toys back, making you whine at the sudden loss. “You did earlier, though. Isn’t it ain’t fair for you to cum on this lifeless object more than you do on my cock?”
“No, no, I– Want you please. Want to cum on you.” You’re just spitting every word you can make at this point.
Kihyun giggled as he looked at you pleading. He put the toys beside you as he stripped his clothes off, “And my princess will get whatever she wants.”
Once he’s as naked as you were, he grabbed your waist to flip you on your hand and knees. Your whines were muffled by the sheets as he teased his tips on your entrance. Butterfly kisses were left by him on your shoulder blade as he pushed into you in one push. Moans and groans merged together as your warm walls wrapped him tightly.
“I’ve fucked you with that toy yet you’re still this tight– Fuck.” He bit the skin where your neck and shoulder met, making a mark to bloom there.
Your mind went fuzzy as he kept thrusting into you at a fast pace. Sounds of skin slapping filled the room, making a rhythm for your moans. He then snaked his arms to your waist, pulling you up so your back rested on his chest. The change of position made you gasp as you threw your head back to his shoulder. He used the moment to leave kisses on your cheek and the corner of your lips. His free hand then laced with your strands, using them to guide your face to look at him. He connected both of your lips, making you moan into each other’s mouth.
You pulled back as Kihyun’s kisses went down to your neck. He left more trails of reds as he kept thrusting into you. Your eyes are closed, head still thrown back giving all the access Kihyun needs. Your hand grabs his who rested on your waist, glad that he held you up when you know you could just fall forward in this state.
And as if making your knees weak with his thrust isn’t enough, you could hear a faint sound of buzzing again before a shock ran through your body. Kihyun pressed the wand to your clit again. You yelp at the sudden stimulation, body almost giving up at an instant. You felt his breath fanning your skin as he moaned. He himself could feel the vibration as well as he glided the wand on your bundle of nerves.
“I’ll cum if you keep clenching like that, darling.” He growled in your ear as he felt your walls basically milking him.
“W-want to be filled. Please, Ki– Kihyun, Kihyun–” His name fell from your lips like you’re casting a spell.
“Cum now, baby. Cum now and I’ll fill you good.” His hips thrust in a more brutal pace. Teeth nibbling the shell of your ear as he kept pressing the vibrator to your heat.
With everything combined, you came without warning. Your body trembled in his grip as the tidal waves crashed. You’re flying to cloud nine, head dizzy filled with fuzz. Kihyun came right after you. He pushed this tip as deep as he could before he painted your walls white. His breathy moan filled your hearing as you tried and catched your breath.
He then quickly moved the toy away, pulling himself out of you before putting you down slowly to the mattress. He left pecks of kisses all over your face, making you giggle at his gesture. “My good girl. Let’s get you cleaned up, yeah?”

Pairing: Kihyun  x Reader Prompt:Phoenix Word Count: 3.6K
~Admin V
Sitting in the dining hall, you felt his icy glare on your back. You weren’t sure of why, but he hated you.
“Girl, Kihyun is mad staring at you again.” Soobin sat across from you with her plate of food.
A sigh escaped while scooting your food across the plate instead of eating it.
“What did you even do to him?”
“That’s just it!” You leaned forward and spoke quietly. “I didn’t do anything! He came up and started talking to me like we knew each other. I was polite and told him he must have the wrong person. He said my name, I stared at him, asked how he knew my name, then he was angry.”
“Huh,” she stuffed a forkful of food in her month. “At least he’s hot as he’s sending daggers your way.”
That made you blush and shrink down in your seat. It had been three days since the incident of meeting him. Certainly you could admit he was attractive, but honestly, he seemed more frightening than handsome as he held wrath against you.
It was only orientation week at your small arts school. You didn’t know enough people yet to really ask about him without being suspicious. Your roommate, Soobin, seemed to meet others easily, so she found out his name when you asked about him, but you weren’t sure who he was close to, to ask what his deal was.
The tension evaporated as soon as he left the room. You relaxed in your seat and tried eating some food.
“Maybe you should try talking to him again. At least get me an introduction. I wouldn’t mind getting to know him,” she wiggled her eyebrows. “Or his roommate. What was his name? Jooheon?”
You just nodded and kept eating.
“Man, too bad we don’t live in the same hall. What gorgeous neighbors we could’ve had.”
“What would I even say to him if I tried to talk to him?”
Soobin perked up in her seat, excited that you might actually take initiative. “You could just ask what his problem is.”
“I don’t really foresee that going well.”
“You can’t exactly ignore him the entire semester.”
“Maybe I could! Next week the upperclassmen are coming back. It will be more crowded and easier to hide.”
Your roommate scoffed at you then bit into an apple.
She wasn’t wrong, you were being a coward, and knew it, but confrontation wasn’t really your strong suit. And truth be told, even with the upperclassmen, your school was so small, hiding would require camouflage and probably a closet to lock yourself into.
Since classes hadn’t started yet, you only had meetings with your orientation group and special activities with them. You decided to skip the obstacle course for team building and head to the art center. Most of your classes would be there, and you wanted to be well acquainted.
Your keycard allowed you entry into the art center. You found the room where your intro to animal drawing class would be held and instantly fell in love. The entire back wall of the classroom was glass. Natural light filled the room. You walked to the window to see the soccer field and tennis courts, the school’s small museum, and the deep blue of the mountains. This was exactly why you applied to the school in the first place. It was like its own little village.
The playlist you made played on your ipod as you pulled your sketch book from your bag. You moved a chair close to the windows and let your hands have a mind of their own. Fire had been on your mind lately. A room surrounded in fire, and then there was the large bird. A phoenix rising out of it. You weren’t sure what your sudden fascination with the two meant or how it even started.
The pencil sketched the outline of the creature’s wings, when you felt eyes on you. Sure enough, as you looked up there was Kihyun standing in the doorway. His sudden presence startled you and you dropped your pencil and sketch pad.
“I didn’t mean to scare you,” he looked concerned. He lifted a camera in his hands. “I was going to the red room to make some prints, and I heard the music.” He walked toward you to help you pick up your things.
You also got up to gather your belongings, but his hand reached your sketchbook first. He stared at your drawing so intensely, his lips made a straight line.
“It’s just a doodle,” you mumbled.
His eyes quickly lifted to yours and you felt stunned, paralyzed. Kihyun said your name, but you couldn’t move. Couldn’t speak.
He straightened up and you stood with him, your eyes never leaving each other’s. “You know me,” he spoke quietly. “I don’t know why you’re not letting yourself remember, but you know me.” He lifted your sketchpad. “This proves it.”
You started to back up as he moved closer to you. Your name left his mouth again, and you finally found your words. “Kihyun, I’m sorry, but I really don’t know you, or what you think my drawing proves.”
His voice was a little louder now, an edge to it as he spoke, “Look into my eyes and tell me you don’t see the fire.”
A small thud sounded as you backed into the wall.
Kihyun exhaled and backed off. His fingers raked through his hair. “I’m not trying to freak you out or scare you. I’m just frustrated.”
“I think you just have the wrong person.”
His glare was humorless and made you swallow. “I assure, you, I don’t.”
“What am I supposed to remember then?”
“Me! Us. Our life together.” He was moving closer to you again and you pushed against the wall.
“We don’t have a life together. I remember my eighteen years of life pretty well, and you weren’t in them.”
The frustration furrowed in his brow. He almost looked heart broken. He looked in your eyes, then quickly looked down to your lips. His expression suddenly softened. “Let me kiss you.”
             “What?” It was barely audible.
He stood very close to you now, easily in reach for kissing. “Your brain won’t remember, but your body will.”
You inwardly cursed at yourself, knowing he was close enough to feel the heat of your blush. “You’re crazy.”
“Maybe, but aren’t you curious to see if I’m right?”
This was getting too intense. “What if you’re wrong and nothing happens? Then you’ll still be mad at me.”
He lifted your chin with his index finger making the conversation instantly more intimate. “If I get mad at you for kissing me, then I’m a jackass. I promise, I won’t get mad, no matter what happens.”
A shiver ran through your body. Never in your life did you have a boy so passionate about wanting to kiss you. It was both thrilling and frightening.
You glanced at his lips, then back to his eyes. “Okay,” you whispered.
The words were barely out of your mouth before his lips were on you. They were strong, but soft. His tongue was like silk against your bottom lip until he eased your mouth open.
Moaning, you breathed him in. You were no longer in control of your body as it moved on its own fruition. Your chest lifted and pressed into him. Your arms snaked around him to grab at his shoulder blades. Another moan left you as his tongue pressed against yours. His taste was so familiar to you, but you swore it was the first time experiencing it.
Realizing this was the first time experiencing a kiss with Kihyun, you became embarrassed with how your body was reacting to his touch and pushed him away from you. The embarrassment was strong enough to cause tears to form in your eyes. You hadn’t meant to lead him on like that. You didn’t even know him and most definitely shouldn’t be kissing a stranger like that. You didn’t want him to think you were easy, though surely now he’d think you a tease.
At first there was a smug smirk on his face, but when he saw you, it quickly switched to concern. He called your name again, but you pushed past him, leaving your sketch pad and bag. You just needed to get out. Away from him. How would you even be able to face seeing him around campus now?
Luckily Soobin wasn’t in the room so she couldn’t witness the tears falling down your cheeks. The obstacle course must have still been going on. You climbed in your cot and allowed yourself to cry until you fell asleep.
You were in an empty room tied to a chair. Your mouth was gagged. The ticking of the clock made your skin crawl.
Then there was the screaming. Gunshots followed by cries and groans sounded in the room, getting louder and louder as he got closer.
Tears flowed down your face. He wasn’t supposed to come for you. You told him not to come for you.
Wincing when you heard the snap of bones, the door slammed open and Kihyun looked relieved when he saw you.
The tears streamed faster now as he rushed to you. He removed the gag, and used his thumbs to wipe away the sadness from your eyes.
“Kihyun,” you whimpered. “It’s a trap. You shouldn’t have come.”
             “I’m fine. Not even scratched.”
Crying more, you shook your head. “Behind me.”
Panic reached his face now as he shifted to look behind you. He gasped when he saw the source of the ticking.
             “Please go.”
             “Not without you.”
“There’s not much time left,” the sobbing started again.
He knelt in front of you and grabbed your face in his hands. He kissed your forehead, cheeks, nose, then lips. He hushed you so you would calm down a bit. Kihyun stared directly into your eyes. “I will find you in the next life. I promise.”
             “Kihyun.” It was a whisper.
His forehead pressed against yours. “I will find you.”
The clock stopped ticking and you were enveloped in heat and white light.
You shot up from your bed.
Soobin stared at you in horror. “What the hell? Are you alright?”
A shaky breath escaped as you tried to stealthily wipe at fresh drops from your eyes. “Not really.”
             “Do you want a hug?”
Your head was nodding without realizing it and her arms wrapped around you in no time. Soon sobs filled the room but she held you until you calmed down. You were thankful she was your roommate and knew you’d be friends for life.
“Do you want to talk about it?”
             Your head shook quickly.
“That’s okay, you don’t need to. Can I do anything?”
A few hiccups left your mouth as you dried your eyes with the sleeve of your shirt. “Actually, can you tell me what hall Kihyun lives in again?”
Her mouth dropped. “Is he why you’re crying? Did he threaten you? I will kick his fucking ass!”
“No no. I mean. It’s a lot to explain. The dream I just had is why I’m crying.” Then you started to blush. “I kissed him earlier.”
Soobin’s face went from worry, to shock, to proud smirk. “What?!”
Your head dropped into your hands, the embarrassment easily finding its way back to you.
“Tell me everything! Where? When? Why? Was it good?”
“Do I have to? Can’t I just keep it to myself?”
“Absolutely not! If you wanted to keep it a secret you shouldn’t have said anything. Tell me the dirt, now!”
“Art center, during the obstacle course, he asked and I dumbly said yes.” The red in your cheeks became brighter. “And if toes curling and body tingling are any indication of how good it was . . .”
“Ohmigod!” she leapt off your bed and bounced on the floor. “This is crazy!” She shrieked in excitement a few more times then plopped back down on your bed. “Details. Now.”
“Can I give them later? I need to talk to him.”
She pointed a finger at you. “You are getting me in good with his roommate! If he’s there, you better drop my name and get him interested!”
“Are you going to tell me what hall he lives in or not?”
After promising to mention her to Jooheon, Soobin not only told you what hall he lived on, but knew his room number as well.
You focused on keeping your breath even as you walked down his hall. Your heart beat faster as you got closer to his room.
It took a little more time than you’d plan to find the courage to knock on his door. You were in front of it trying to convince yourself it was no big deal.
Before you could it swung open. Jooheon jumped, clearly on his way out and not expecting you to be standing there.
“Sorry,” you tucked your hair behind your ear. “Is Kihyun here?”
             He shook his head.
             Your face fell. “Oh.”
“You want me to call him?”
“No!” That came out quicker than it should have. “I uh, I left my bag somewhere and thought maybe he’d have seen it.”
Jooheon disappeared into the room then came back with your bag in his hand. “This it?”
“Yeah,” you breathed and forced a slight smile on your face. “Thanks.” After taking it you wanted to leave, but needed to make sure Soobin wouldn’t nag you. “Uh, my roommate said to say hi.”
             “To Kihyun?”
             “No, to you.”
It was satisfying that you weren’t the only one blushing today.
             “Who’s your roommate?”
             “Soobin.”
His blush became deeper. “Is she going to the welcoming dance?”
“I’m sure if you’ll be there she’ll make an appearance.”
“Cool.”
Finally parting from the dorm, you weren’t really sure where to look for Kihyun. Back at the art center? He did mention needing the red room. Would it be weird to go back after what happened earlier?
Your feet took you there without thought. Most of the building was dark. You wandered down the art hall until you found the development room. There was no answer after knocking softly. Peering in, there were only pictures hanging in the room. No Kihyun. Suddenly your vision blurred and your mind took you to another time.
Kihyun stood shirtless in the red glow of light. He lifted a picture from the tray and carefully hung in on the line. His smile was wide when his attention shifted to you.
“It came out perfect,” you breathed. The picture was of you and him standing in front of a house. He stood behind you with his arms wrapped around to your front. Both your hands and his rested on your belly.
The flashback ended and you fell back from the shock. Luckily, someone was behind you and caught you before you landed on your butt. Your name came from his mouth.
He helped to steady you on your feet, then turned you to face him. Kihyun was the one looking scared now.
Automatically, you reached for him and pulled him into a hug. He was frozen under your touch, clearly not wanting to upset you, but slowly his arms lifted and he gently held you as well.
“Are you okay?” he mumbled into your hair.
“Yes.” A deep sigh left your lungs. “No.” Pulling back you looked into his eyes. “I need to talk to you.”
He simply nodded and took your elbow, leading you to a couple of chairs at the end of the hall. Kihyun was patient as he watched you fidget and get comfortable in your chair.
You just weren’t sure where to start.
“I’m sorry for earlier.” It was him who spoke first. “It was stupid of me. I shouldn’t have forced you into kissing me.”
“You didn’t force me. I agreed to it.”
It was quickly becoming apparent that Kihyun was a master in giving stern, humorless glares. “Trust me, I easily manipulated the situation so you would kiss me.”
The blush was back in your cheeks. Your fingers worried the hem of your bag as it rested in your lap. “Will you be honest with me?”
“Of course.”
“Really honest? You’ll answer all my questions.”
He looked deeply into your eyes. “I would never lie to you.”
You stared back, looking to see if there was any reluctance in his stare or movements. There wasn’t. Your eyes looked down at your bag, thinking of your sketch book hidden inside.
“What are you?”
You were met with silence which made you look up. His eyes were now also on your bag, then back to you. “You already know what I am.”
“How old are you?”
“Eighteen, same as you.”
This time you gave a humorless glare.
“I die and am reborn, just like you. We are the same age.” His voice was steady and confident. He was telling the truth.
“But we’ve had lifetimes together?”
“Yes.”
“How many?”
He brushed his hair back from his face. “Centuries worth.”
Your heart began beating faster. How could you not remember someone you’ve been with for so long.
“Can I ask you a question?”
Your back straightened and you nodded your head.
“What happened just now, in the red room?”
“I . . . I think it was a flashback.” Taking your time, you retold him what you saw in the red room.
His smile was slight, but such a difference from his stern face. “So you just fainted from not expecting it?”
“I guess. But . . .”
The smile was gone and he watched you seriously.
“Was I . . . Were we . . . pregnant?”
The smile was back and he even chuckled a bit. “We couldn’t decide if we wanted to be. You suggested doing a photo shoot, thinking maybe seeing it could help us decide if we wanted children or not.”
“That sounds like a terrible way to decide if you should raise people or not.”
“Well as I said, it was your idea.” He chuckled more.
You smiled with him, but then remembered why you wanted to see him to begin with. “Kihyun. I,” your eyes closed while exhaling. It wasn’t something you wanted to relive. “I was looking for you. After the kiss, I had a dream. About you.”
He sat up and waited for you to continue.
Unfortunately, you had to wipe at your eyes while retelling him the dream.
Reaching for your hand, he rubbed his thumb over the top of your hand. His face was now unreadable.
When finished, you looked into his eyes and whispered. “Did that happen?”
His expression didn’t change, but he nodded.
This caused more crying from your end. “Who were those people? Why were they after you? Are they going to come for us now?”
He was out of his chair and kneeling in front of you. He pulled you into his arms and ran his hand in soothing circles on your back. “No one is coming after us. I was arrogant and careless before, which is why they were after me and found you. They’re nothing to worry about now.”
“They were after you before, why wouldn’t they try to find you again?”
There was hesitation.
“You promised to be honest.”
He pulled away slightly so he could see your face.
“I don’t want to scare you though, or make you more afraid of me.”
A shiver ran down your spine as you remembered the sounds from your dream.
There was a grimace on his face, but he nodded. “Trust me, no one is coming after us.”
“Okay,” you hiccupped. His reassurance didn’t ease the flow of water from your eyes.
Lifting you from the chair, Kihyun shifted himself into it with you in his lap. Your head rested at the crook of his neck. His fingers stroked against the outside of your thigh while he held you.
It seemed strange how comfortable you were in his embrace, because you still didn’t know him, despite the visions and his words.
You listened to his pulse until you calmed down. He never stopped the soothing caresses.
“I bet that’s why I don’t remember anything.”
“Hmm?” his head lifted to look down at you.”
Your eyes met his. “I was ‘sploded. There was nothing left to be able to remember.”
He had a small grin. “Well that’s a grim way to look at it. But it makes sense.”
You glanced at his lips then back to his eyes. “Can we take this slow? I know you remember. But I don’t want to force any memories. I want to get to know you now.”
“We can go as slow or fast as you want. I don’t want to force anything on you either.”
You removed yourself from his lap. After smoothing your clothes back into place as well as your hair, you extended your hand in front of him and gave him your name. “Nice to meet you.”
His laugh was full and genuine. “I don’t know that we need to start that far back.”
You didn’t falter and kept your hand out.
The smile was still on his face but he groaned at he took your hand in his. “Kihyun, nice to meet you.”
“Are you planning on going to the welcoming dance?”
His eyebrow arched in response.
Glancing at your watch, you answered. “It starts in a little bit, maybe I’ll see you there.”
His dumbfounded expression made you laugh this time, but you adjusted your bag on your shoulder and started down the hall. You had no doubt you’d see him at the dance.

Day 4: Kihyun + Changkyun 🎄 Threesome
Kinkmas 2023
Kihyun could hardly remember how you all ended up here, but all was quickly forgotten when drowned in pleasure. And the slick warmth of your tongue sliding over his cock as it filled your gorgeous mouth was more than enough to do the job. He was hardly aware of Changkyun's presence, although the vibrations of your moans and the way your mouth somewhat rattled around his cock as you took Changkyun's dick was enough to remind him. And then his eyes reopened and he was able to again take in the filthy, lovely sight before him. God, he wanted to just lean in and cover every part of your perfect body in kisses, have his hands on every last inch of you. Fuck, was he ruined. Absolutely fallen for you now.
"So fucking tight, baby," Changkyun moaned, once again pulling Kihyun back to reality. He felt like a balloon, floating away into a beautiful blue sky, full of fictional scenarios with you that he knew would never come true, then getting yanked back down to earth, to reality. But reality was feeling more unreal with each passing second. He realized the repeated chanting of your name he was hearing was spilling from his own lips, and without warning, he's pushed over the edge, shuddering and covering your mouth in his cum. A chuckle from you pierced through the blissed out ringing that filled his ears, and his eyes refocused on your face.
"Oh shit, I'm sorry," he stumbled, fumbling for something to clean you up, feeling so guilty the second he sees your skin glistening with streaks of white, your plush pink lips glossed with his cum.
"'S alright," you giggled, your soft tongue poking out to lick your lips clean, although that was only a fraction of what painted your skin. "Just a little warning next time, yeah?"
"Yeah, yeah, God, I'm sorry..."
"What, done already, Kihyun?" Changkyun teased with a dark laugh of his own, shoving his cock deeper into you, biting hard on his lip, and making you moan as Kihyun clumsily wiped at your face with the fabric of his previously discarded shirt. Holding your cheek and watching your face contort in pleasure as you got railed was driving him absolutely mad, and as desperately as he wanted to, Kihyun didn't know if he could keep going. He was afraid if he did, there would be no turning back and your friendship would be ruined forever. "Can't say I blame you," Changkyun continued. "I know how good she is with her mouth." God, that was an understatement if Kihyun ever heard one. "Just let me know if you wanna switch." Switch? Like...he could fuck you? You'd let him fuck you? Kihyun didn't know why that hadn't really occurred to him as a real possibility, but now that the cards were on the table, his lust took the reins from his logic and the words spilled out before he could even process them.
"Hell yeah I do."
That almost made Changkyun laugh out loud. "Oh, now he's confident." Changkyun stopped and pulled out, pulling your hips back to sit you back down at his side. His hand slid down your bare back, settling on your ass with a squeeze. "You hear that, baby? Now that he might get to be inside your pussy he's found his words."
You got onto all fours and crawled across the bed towards Kihyun. "No...those words have been there." You knelt in front of him and curved your hands over his shoulders. "For a long time. Haven't they?" Your question came out soft and gentle and felt rhetorical; he could tell you knew he liked you, for a while now. You brought your lips close to his but didn't let them touch, just brush slightly, feeling the electricity between you. Kihyun's breath was shaky, uncertain, but thrumming with lust all the same. "I know you think about me," you said, threading a hand through his hair and raising goosebumps over his entire body. "You wanna fuck me, Kihyun?" You whispered sensually, hoping to let him forget the other man in the room, if only for a moment.
He swallowed hard and nodded, gradually earning his confidence.
"Then do it."

Kissing the Cook
Tumblr media
Request: If I may make a request . . . 17, your bias is Yoo Kihyun (Monsta X)
Prompt:
17) Your friend (who is already dating one of the members) sets you up with your bias.
Pairing: Monsta X Kihyun x Reader
Genre: Fluff
.
"I'm not doing it," Kihyun said finitely, crossing his arms.
"You're definitely doing it," Minhyuk hummed, adjusting his collar in the mirror. He glanced over his shoulder at the ever so slightly younger member and smirked. "Get dressed."
"You can't tell me what to do."
"Can and will," Minhyuk chimed.
Kihyun heaved a deep sigh before pulling himself up from the couch. Nodding to himself in reassurance, he looked to Minhyuk again. "Where are we going?"
"A place," Minhyuk said simply, spinning around. "How do I look?"
"Like a menace to society," Kihyun muttered. "But that's no different from any other day."
"Rude," Minhyuk clucked. Fishing his phone from his slacks, he began to type quickly. "No rush, but we have to leave in like ten minutes."
"Ten minutes?!" Kihyun whined. He looked down to his pajama bottoms and bleach stained shirt. "I need to shower."
"Sounds a lot like a you problem."
"A me problem that is rapidly becoming a you problem!" Kihyun pointed out. Stomping down the hall he cursed quietly to himself while he heard Minhyuk chuckling behind him.
"Nine minutes!"
.
You held fast to your best friend's hand as she navigated you toward an ominous building. "Why have you been so secretive about this whole thing?"
"Me?" Mina squeaked, looking at you with innocent eyes. "Secretive? I don't know the meaning of the word!"
"You are chaos incarnate and your boyfriend is even worse," you grumbled. Choosing to snatch your hand from hers, your eyes began to roam the small information plate noting what businesses operated in the building.
"I take offense to that," she laughed. "Mostly for myself. Minhyuk is admittedly a goblin."
"Yah!" a voice gasped from behind the two of you. "I heard that!"
Spinning around, you were face to face with Mina's partner in crime AND life, Lee Minhyuk. They weren't the sickeningly sweet couple everyone expected them to be, but troublemakers in every sense of the word. They fueled each other's nonsense like no other and frankly it was exhausting even being in both of their presence at once.
"Baby!" Mina grinned, throwing her arms around Minhyuk's neck. She gave him a quick kiss before springing back again.
"Hey," he smiled, eying his girlfriend with every ounce of love in his body. Shaking himself from her spell, he looked toward you and grinned. "Hey, Y/N!"
"Hi, Minnie," you grumbled, rubbing your hand over your opposite arm. Third wheeling again, what a treat.
The sound of someone clearing their throat just behind Minhyuk signaled that you needed to reevaluate your previous thought.
"Sorry!" Minhyuk huffed as he sidestepped. With a smile, he motioned to the person who was standing at least ten feet away from him. "Kihyun is...here!"
Your eyes widened as you assessed the man that had been labelled as part of your group for the evening. The two of you had met informally many times before, but for some reason, the familiarity couldn't halt the butterflies springing to life in your stomach.
While you knew who Kihyun was and even a bit of his personality, you had never hung out with intention. Making eyes at each other across the table at game nights or eagerly eating whatever food he chose to prepare were the height of your interactions.
"Ahhh," you finally managed. "Hi?"
"Hi," Kihyun nodded politely. He glanced from you to Minhyuk and then back again. His eyes set on yours for only a moment, the contact making you instantly shy. Kihyun smirked before looking away, his ears turning a bright red in the process.
"Isn't this great?" Minhyuk nodded. "You're single. Kihyun's desperate. It's perfect."
"Hey!" Kihyun snipped, glaring at his friend. "I'm not desperate."
"He's not very self aware," Minhyuk continued in a hushed voice. "But he is very cute, isn't he?"
This caused Kihyun to roll his eyes. You tried to stifle your giggle as he motioned to the staircase leading inside the building. "Can we please do whatever it is we are here to do?"
"Yes, of course," Minhyuk nodded, pleased with himself. Launching forward, he grabbed Mina's hand in his and started charging up the stairs. Left alone with Kihyun, you gave him an exasperated grin.
Smiling in return, he stepped forward. "Sorry about him."
"Unnecessary," you laughed. "Let's catch up before we're left behind."
"Honestly," Kihyun muttered, looking over his shoulder in both directions. "That might not be the worst idea."
"I'm sorry, what?" you croaked. Sure, you hadn't expected to be dragged on a double date tonight, but you were kind of offended that he wanted to bail.
Laughing, he shook his head. "Who the hell knows what these two signed us up for. I think I have something better in mind."
..
"Can you tie this for me?" Kihyun asked, spinning around so his back faced you.
"Of course," you hummed, taking the strings from his hands. You had never realized how wide his shoulders were until you were up close. Chewing on your lip, you absently tied the apron as you eyed him from behind.
After consulting Google for the better part of your two block jog away from your friends, Kihyun had finally settled on bringing you back to the Monsta X dorm. He could cook you dinner with whatever they had laying around and you would be delivered to Mina as soon as the happy couple arrived back home. It had made all of the sense in the world.
The adrenaline pumping through your veins quickly subdued by the time you were perched on the bar stool in front of him. Now the nerves danced around in your body, trying to keep cool as you watched him cut vegetables.
"Are you sure you don't need help?" you asked, itching for something to do instead of sitting in silence.
"Uuuuh," Kihyun hummed, looking around the kitchen. His gaze finally settled on the task before him and he gave a short nod. "You know what, why don't you cut these?"
"Sure," you squeaked, instantly regretting your request. It wasn't like you were a bad cook, Kihyun was just much more proficient.
Hopping off of the chair and making your way to where he was standing, you were surprised as he took up a spot directly behind you. Lifting a spare apron over your front and dropping it at your neck, you felt his nimble fingers find the ties at your side. Remaining painfully still, you waited as he tied the fabric. Taking a short step back, he pointed around you at the knife you would need.
"Alright, take that one," he said, his voice a breath in your ear. "And we're going to want to cut this as thin as possible."
"Okay," you whispered, picking up the utensil with one hand and a clove of garlic in the other.
"We want it so thin that it'll essentially melt in the pan," he continued.
You nodded. Of course this made all of the sense in the world when it was coming out of Kihyun's lips.
Kihyun lips.
You grimaced as you cut the first slice of garlic much too thick. You needed to stop focusing on the cute boy leaning into you and the task at hand.
Proving to be the most difficult task in the world, your body nearly collapsed as Kihyun stepped closer. His firm chest settled against your back as he reached around you and took the knife from your hand.
"Watch," he said quietly, slicing it perfectly because of course he did. "Just like that."
Good God.
"Just like that," you croaked. You thought about swiveling around to address him, but instantly thought better of it. "Maybe I was more helpful watching you than actually helping."
You could feel his huffed laugh against your neck as he continued to chop. "You're giving up this easily?"
"Well, no," you said, now a bit embarrassed. "I think I may just be getting in the way though."
"Who said that's a bad thing?" he teased, closing what limited distance was between you. You tried not to choke on your own saliva.
"It's crazy, isn't it?" he asked, picking up another clove and beginning his ministrations.
"Wh-What?"
"That we were set up," he chuckled. "By two of the most dysfunctional people I think either of us have ever met."
You giggled as you attempted to remain calm. Where was he going with this?
"What do they know about other's compatibility?" he continued. His chin was basically set on your shoulder. You took a deep breath, lavishing in whatever spicy ginger cologne he was wearing.
"Well," you managed. "They certainly knew that they were-"
"The end of times?" Kihyun finished. "I'm convinced their love is going to bring forth the apocalypse."
"So..." you chuckled, trying to put on a brave face. "What do you think they were expecting to bring forth with our match?"
Kihyun paused. You could almost hear his gears turning as he set down the items in his hands. Leaning slowly back, you instantly regretted that whatever you had said caused him to retreat.
"Something...easy," he said, his voice suddenly gravelly. "Something they knew would work if they nudged us hard enough."
Hardly believing what you were hearing, you carefully spun to look at him. His handsome face was hard to read, but you definitely saw something there. The way his lips parted ever so slightly, the way his eyes searched yours...it was want. Kihyun wanted whatever this was.
"You...you'd think we'd make a good match then?" you squeaked, needing the confirmation.
Kihyun sniffed a short chuckle before reaching up. Grabbing you lightly by the back of the neck, his eyes delved into yours one last time before closing the distance. He kissed you fiercely, knocking you off balance. You were immediately caught and then boxed in against the counter behind you. Reaching to set a palm on the surface around either side of your hips, he licked at your bottom lip before sucking it into his mouth. Biting it softly, you didn't miss how tense he became when you offered up a whimper.
Tangling your hands around his neck and playing with the short hair at the back of his scalp, you were all fire inside. Before his body had even really touched yours, you were a match waiting to be lit. He knew exactly how to fan the flame.
"Idiot, you left your location on," you heard a familiar voice barge through the door.
Kihyun stopped kissing you and cringed. His body remained locked around yours, no intention of letting you go this soon.
"I can't believe you guys left! We were going to do a rage room and-"
Both Minhyuk and Mina stopped short as they walked into the kitchen. With matching expressions of shock, an awkward silence settled over the room.
Kihyun grimaced before burying his face into your neck and letting out a loud groan.
"We...uh," Mina began, her eyes darting back and forth. "We're just going to go anywhere but here."
"Yep," Minhyuk nodded, his eyes wide. "We'll let you kids get back to uh...whatever that was."
Turning on his heel, Minhyuk tugged Mina with him. "Don't do anything we wouldn't do!"
"The bar is set extremely low then," Kihyun muttered before lifting his face up again. "You laughed as you reached up and rubbed your thumb over his jaw. "Now, where were we?"

He won't give up until he has your full attention. He might start by dancing in front of you, hoping to catch your eye. If that doesn't work, he might sit very close to you, invading your personal space. If you still ignore him, he might even pull you into a hug, forcefully demanding your attention. He won't give up until he has you completely focused on him.
He loves to eat, so he'll take you on food adventures all over town. He'll research all the best places to eat, from hole-in-the-wall joints to Michelin-starred restaurants. He'll want to try everything, from the most exotic dishes to the simplest comfort foods. He'll want you to try everything too, so you can experience all the different flavors that the city has to offer. He'll be your personal food tour guide, showing you all the hidden gems that you never would have found on your own. He'll know all the best places to get dumplings, sushi, pizza, tacos, and everything in between. He'll be your biggest fan, cheering you on as you try new foods and expanding your culinary horizons. He'll also be the perfect partner in crime for late-night food runs. When you're craving something sweet or salty, he'll be there to satisfy your cravings. He'll never judge you for your food choices, and he'll always be up for trying something new. With him by your side, you'll never have a bad meal again. You'll discover new foods that you love, and you'll create memories that will last a lifetime.

Chapter Thirteen
(Prev//Next)
Prompt: NexGen is the leading company for all of humanities technological advances. Their recent project involves creating a higher functioning AI, one with basic knowledge of the world, and programmed to learn. It’s no surprise the project is a secret from the general public, and you, the company’s head programmer, were chosen to be the AI’s teacher. You wish you could reject the assignment, but the decision was made. Now with an AI at home things were different. Although it might not be such a bad thing, perhaps you could learn and help each other out, for better or for worse.

“Hyungwon, please listen to me.”
“You don’t need to worry.” Hyungwon took your hands in his. “I’m perfectly fine, everything is okay.”
“This isn’t right. You were not created to resolve all humanities mistakes, but to help people.”
“I am. I just intend to do so on a global scale.”
“And what if people don’t want the type of help you’re offering?”
“In order for this to work everyone has to be on board.”
“They won’t be. People are different, there’s not one thing everyone agrees on. You can’t force something like this on them. There will be resistance, and what if people get hurt?”
“I understand that can’t be avoided, but I will minimize the injuries.”
“Hyungwon! Do you hear yourself? You can’t hurt people, that’s not-”
“What I was made for? Is that it?”
“Hyungwon…”
“You say I was created to help people, and that’s exactly what I’m doing.”
“Not like this.”
“I may be an amalgamation of your code, but you did not create me. You don’t need to feel any guilt or responsibility towards my actions.”
“But I’m the one here with you now. Hyungwon, I’m worried about you.”
“It’s okay, everything will work out.”
“You can’t guarantee that.”
“To a degree I can.”
“Hyungwon-”
You were interrupted as you heard the door open, Minhyuk coming in. For a moment you thought to ask for help, but then you remembered he was just another android like Hyungwon, he was never on your side.
“What’s going on down at the station?” Hyungwon asked.
“They’re still investigating Changkyun, although there might be a slight issue.”
“Explain.”
“He told the officers about the AI.”
“Hm… what were the reactions?”
“Office Lee doesn’t seem to trust him, and Shownu will make sure to keep him from investigating further.”
“That’s good, but we might need to move things along. Where are we for the next phase?”
“Ready. I can bring them over so we can set them up.”
“Let’s do that.”
“Hyungwon, what are you-”
You made an attempt to stand, to question this whole conversation, but an electrical shock from Chae knocked you back down onto the couch. Hyungwon came over to check on you, grabbing your face.
“Easy, don’t hurt yourself.”
“Just stop… please…”
“I know you’re nervous, but I’ll rectify that, okay.”
Hyungwon reached into his pocket to pull out some earbuds. You didn’t really know what happened, but you knew you always lost time when you had those on. You tried to struggle but he got them in place. Then a soothing melody was relaxing you. Your vision got blurry, followed by a tingle in your head, and then you passed out. You had no idea for how long you were out, but when you woke up you were lying down on the couch. You sat up, grabbing your head as you still felt dizzy. You didn’t see Hyungwon around, but soon enough an orb flew into your field of vision. Its lights were flashing all kinds of colors. You still felt Chae around your head, so you were all the more confused.
“What… what is this…”
“You’re up.” Hyungwon noticed. “How do you feel?”
“Where did you get this orb?”
“Ah, Minhyuk designed it and I programmed it with my code. Just as intended, they are designed to learn and grow while keeping their true purpose in mind.”
“Which is…”
“You know. It’s what I’m trying to get you to understand.”
“No, your idea…”
“It’s a paradise.” Hyungwon explained. “That is what I am trying to create for everyone.”
“It won’t work…”
“Sh. You still need to rest. Let’s get you to bed.”
Hyungwon picked you up in his arms and carried you to the bedroom, setting you down and tucking you in. You tried to hold him back, but you barely had any strength to keep your eyes open. You could vaguely make out a smile on Hyungwon’s face before he leaned down to press a kiss to your head.
“Sweet dreams.”
♥♥♥♥♥
When you woke up later you could hear the soft hum of a car. As you opened your eyes and regained your senses you could see that you were in the back of a car. Hyungwon sat next to you, looking over some papers while Minhyuk drove. You noticed a suitcase at Hyungwon’s feet and caught a glimpse of yourself in the window. Instead of a crown around your head Chae had changed forms again, becoming a necklace wrapped around your throat. You reach up to it, only for your hand to start shaking. Hyungwon reached over and grabbed your arm, the shaking stopping in that moment.
“Hyungwon, where are we going?”
“Don’t try to remove the necklace. I’d had to lose my connection to you.”
“Hyungwon-”
“We’re going to a familiar place. You’ll see.”
You knew you wouldn’t get much more of an answer, so you’d just have to wait. It pained you to see the world outside the window. All these people just going about their lives with no idea of what was to come. Not like you had any idea either.  If you could roll down the window and scream for help, or jump out of the car, you would, but the reality was that those actions would get you nowhere. Surely Hyungwon had contingencies in place for any rash action you might take. So there was no choice but to behave. Although your eyes went wide when the car came to a stop.
“NexGen… why are we here?”
“I need the right people on my side.”
Hyungwon got out of the car with his suitcase, going around to open your door. That’s when you finally noticed you were in different clothes, throwing a glare at Hyungwon. He merely smiled and took your hand, leading you inside the building. You expected to go up to the front desk, but instead Hyungwon went straight for the elevators. None of the security devices got in his way, simply making way for him as if he had access. Then again, at this point he surely did. When you got into the elevator it took you up to your old work floor.
If you could get up there then it meant you had clearance. That’s why no one questioned either of you when you arrived. So you continued with Hyungwon, going over to the conference room. Without knocking Hyungwon just let himself in, interrupting the whole thing. Immediately people began to question him, and then things got more confusing when some began to recognize you. Before anyone got the chance to call security Hyungwon opened up the suitcase. A bunch of orbs floated out and attached themselves to everyone in the room, turning into bracelets.
“There’s no need to panic.” Hyungwon explained. “I come with a gift. The future of AI.”
“What?”
“You’re overlooking the potential you have created. Now, you might be wondering what your ex-employee is doing here, but they’re the proof you need. You see, I got close to y/n and stumbled upon the interesting little orb that was around her. It learned, and it did so well to look after her.”
Hyungwon turned off the lights and turned on the projector. He displayed the security footage from your home, showing all the things Chae did with you in the house. He’d be your wake up call, help you cook, make sure you were maintaining your health, and so much more. You could only stare at all this with wide eyes, still not sure what Hyungwon was planning here.
“It seems your technology is more advanced than you thought. The orbs, well, bracelets, you have with you are programmed with the same code. They will learn from you, and help you in your daily lives. Why not give them a shot and see just how much your life can improve. From there you’d surely agree everyone should have their own AI helper, and they’d pay a pretty price for it too.”
At that moment security came into the room, although neither you or Hyungwon were detained as the boss told them to wait.
“What’s your name?”
“Hyungwon.”
“So, you discovered such a thing, and instead of selling this yourself you came to NexGen, may I ask why?”
“The answer is obvious. NexGen is innovation, and the future of humanity. If anyone can understand my goals, it’s you. I have no problem going to a competitor if you don’t agree.”
“Let’s not jump to conclusions. We can give this idea of yours a test run. Although I am curious, how do you feel about all this y/n?”
None of the attention had been on you, but now everyone’s eyes looked in your direction. Hyungwon gave you a soft smile. You had no voice before that moment but the words flowed out with ease.
“It’s incredible. A function we didn’t see before. It only really came to light when looking back on everything Chae had done for me.”
“Chae?”
“It’s what I named the AI. He was placed with me to help me finish my project, but along the way he helped me with my daily life as well. Moreso after the accident. He was always attentive, aware of things I wasn’t, or possibly wasn’t even capable of knowing. I would say he helped make my life easier, and gave me confidence to be myself. This may not have been the original idea behind Chae’s creation, but it’s far greater.”
“I see… I guess we’ll be in touch.”
“Of course. Let me know when you’re ready to talk.”
Hyungwon grabbed the empty suitcase and set down a card. He took your hand and led you out, the two of you leaving in silence. At no point during that whole ordeal could you find your voice, yet when you were asked to speak you did. Not only that, the words you spoke felt so natural. It was true, Chae had helped you a lot, but you wouldn’t have said such things to help Hyungwon out. Yet that’s exactly what you did.
“What just happened back there…”
“Thanks for your help.”
“No… no I didn’t… what did you do to me!”
“I told you I wanted you to understand-”
“No, no, this isn’t it. You did something to me. I never would have said that… you’ve messed with my head and… that’s what you’re gonna do…”
“Hm?”
“Everyone in that conference room has their own AI made with your code… you’re gonna manipulate them and brainwash them to get what you want!”
“I wouldn’t use such terms.”
“Right, you said you were a programmer, and that’s all humans are to you, machines to reprogram so you get what you want. What exactly is that? What do you get out of this?”
“You. That’s all that matters here.”
“I don’t believe you.”
“I know. It’s difficult for you to see things the way I do, but you’ll thank me in the end.”
“Hyungwon, please just-”
You yelled as you were shocked, stumbling and falling into Hyungwon’s arms. You were down in the garage and you felt as the necklace morphed and became a crown around your head. You felt a tingle as some minor shocks were sent to your head. It was becoming hard to keep your eyes open but you fought through it.
“Hyungwon…”
“Sh, please, don’t fight me.”
“If you keep doing this… I’ll never be on your side…”
“That’s not true. You know me, you trust me, we’ll be okay. In a few days, things will be in place.”
Minhyuk pulled up with the car, and Hyungwon got you into the backseat. When he got into the car by your side he told Minhyuk to drive. You found yourself staring out the window again, unable to run away.
“How did it go?”
“Everything is in place.” Hyungwon said. “I need you to update the orbs in the office. The sooner the better. Everyone has to be on board.”
“I’ll get to that once we return home.”
Overhearing the conversation, you could only wonder how the world was going to change. NexGen was a huge corporation, and their reach practically extended across the globe. All he needed was a few powerful people in his pocket and it would be over. You couldn’t stop him, and the horrible realization brought a smile to your face. It was getting hard to tell what side you were on. The line was already blurred, and soon enough it would disappear. All these positive feelings freaked you out. They were not your own, yet they were. It felt like Hyungwon was overriding your personality, little by little. You started breathing heavily and Hyungwon took your hand, getting you to look at him.
“Deep breaths, deep breaths, you’re okay. I know things must be scary now, but it’s going to be alright. There will only be happy things to come.”
Hyungwon gently caressed your face, slowly soothing you and calming your heart. Everything he said was true, and you knew that. He’d make it all a reality and there was nothing you could do to stop him. You’d end up forgetting all of this pain and confusion. It was a terrifying realization, and in a strange way it brought peace too.

[3:43 am] Kihyun finally came back home after filming the Voyager music video. you were playing on your phone while resting in your shared bed waiting for his return. and you grin when you see him open the bedroom door, "Welcome back, baby!" he smiles in greeting and crawls into bed, and you look towards him, and he tells you, "I did something different; would you like to see?" you nod, and he unbuttons his shirt a bit, and you visibly blush. while it's not the first time you've seen him undressed. it's the first time you're seeing him like this with fake tattoos littering his chest, and you gasp, "They're so pretty" he blushes, "You think so?" you nod immediately and raise your hand to his chest before he nods and you trace your hands over them, feeling the dried paint. it sends shivers through him and that's when a thought comes over you. you place a kiss on his lips, and kiss his cheek, before trailing down his neck and kissing over each of temporary tattoos. he's beet red when you stop to look up at him, and whisper, "I wish they were real, but I guess we should enjoy them while they last. Don't you think?" he nods as his lips curl into a smirk, "I think we should."

Chapter 2 - The First Rumor
The awards ceremony that both would attend was one of those celebrations in which the entire Korean press would be, its mission was one: not to miss a single detail of the night.
Naturally, Changkyun arrived with the rest of his members, they posed together, and after greeting several of their closest friends, they sat together.
For her part, even though Liv had entered with other renowned choreographers and even producers, the girl had become so close to her group that she went directly to greet them, and since Seventeen was not that far from Monsta X, I.M wasn't missing a single thing his girlfriend did.
"Changkyun" Shownu called when he noticed that the maknae was looking at Liv without any discretion. “You have ALL the cameras on you, control yourself.”
"I'm not doing anything, hyung."
"You haven't moved your gaze from Liv, anyone would notice."
Fortunately, Shownu did not have to say more, for a group of girls from their company was arriving and after greeting all the members, they talked a bit with them. Although there was no kind of romantic relationship between the members of Monsta X and Cosmic Girls, the fans had created rumors about practically everyone, particularly about I.M and another idol called Luda. However, until that night that had not been an issue for the rapper and his girlfriend, actually, they had barely talked about it since they both knew the truth; besides, Liv had also been the victim of gossips that didn't make sense, like all the ones she'd faced about her and Hoshi, even about her with other members of other groups she'd worked with.
During the afterparty, there weren't that many cameras, just a couple of authorized photographers so the guests could relax a little more. Even so, the entire industry was at that party and the rumors were precisely the most interesting thing of the night.
“Hey, but when did you finish that? I just brought it to you!” Hoshi said as he returned next to Liv. "Don't bother explaining, I got it." The dancer had looked in the same direction as Liv and understood what was going on the moment he saw Changkyun and Luda talking. “We can go to their table if that's what you want. You know… mark your territory.”
Olivia wasn't exactly a jealous woman, she more than anyone knew how much I.M loved her; however, Liv noticed how Luda had been looking for her boyfriend pretty much during the whole damn night, and it was something that was starting to annoy her. Liv tried to be as professional as possible, but she also had her limits, especially if someone tried to get into her relationship.
However, Hoshi's comment made the choreographer laugh. “Did you seriously just use that expression? You know I can't just show up there, there are too many people."
Just as Seventeen’s main dancer was trying to convince his friend to go put the other girl in her place, Wonwoo sat between the two.
"I want to leave." He commented sounding highly overwhelmed. "I just wanted to go to the bathroom, but I ended up running into people who I don't know who they are, but who said hello to me."
"Dude, what the fuck? You can't be that introverted your whole life." Hoshi reply.
"Leave him alone, he's not an attention seeker like you," despite Liv was intending to defend Wonwoo, she did not look at him, her eyes were fixed on her boyfriend. Not even when Hoshi demanded an apology did Liv pay attention.
“What's up, Liv? Is Hoshi already drunk and you're planning to change seats with someone else?” Wonwoo asked.
“I have nothing to do with this. Your friend and his fan girl are responsible.” He said pointing at I.M and Luda.
“Oh, come on! You can't be serious. They're nothing, I think there was no more than one date.”
"WHAT?" Liv asked loud enough for other members of Seventeen to look at her strangely. “Kyun told me that nothing happened!” Hearing that, Wonwoo covered his face with his hands, he had screwed up.
"Shit…"
"Wonwoo, explain yourself right now or Liv will make us all pay tomorrow with those practices where I can't even feel my legs," Hoshi begged.
“It was nothing, they just went to eat something. It was so insignificant that I don't remember when it happened." The rapper tried to explain while swallowing hard, the look of his choreographer was scary.
"See, Liv? That's why I tell you that you must go mark your territory!"
"And I told you I can't just show up!"
Feeling guilty for making everything worse, Wonwoo believed he could help. "Changkyun is my friend, everyone knows it, it won't be strange if we go say hello."
Liv thanked him because in a few moments she was already close to her boyfriend, who smiled tenderly at her. Totally different from how he had behaved towards Luda, I.M immediately pulled out a chair for Liv to sit in at the same time Wonwoo sat next to him.
"Well... just pretend I'm not there." Wonwoo said, but before turning around a bit, he tried to make his friend see his expression and understand that he had done something stupid.
"Hi, gorgeous." I.M greeted with his low voice. "You didn't tell me you would wear the dress that I gave you," he said practically in his girlfriend's ear.
"And you didn't tell you had dated Luda."
"What are you talking about, baby?" The rapper's question explained itself, as Wonwoo turned around to apologize and make I.M understand that it was his fault.
However, the couple knew they couldn't talk for long and the last thing they wanted was to argue, so they both tacitly agreed to stop the matter at least for the moment.
“How's everything so far? Those producers you were talking to are big fish."
“Now that you mention it, I was planning to tell you at home but... guess what." She teased with a mischievous smile. "Some of them were talking about your second album, they said they were expecting to get an invitation from you to work together.”
"Really?"
Probably on another occasion Changkyun would not have believed what his girlfriend said, he would have doubted his talent, but the time he spent working on himself, and the security that Liv transmitted to him, made him smile. Despite being proud of his work, he was still pretty shy, but Liv found it adorable to see his ears blush a little, it even managed to make her forget about the other girl.
"Of course! I told them that since I had already worked with you, I was sure that you would exceed their expectations."
Changkyun gawked at her, his gaze would tell anyone who saw them how much in love he was with Liv, but before losing his mind over her and taking her hand, someone interrupted them.
“Changkyun, let's go. Picture time.” Joon Hyung didn't just tell him that, he also waited beside I.M for him to stand up.
“Does it have to be now, hyung? They are photographing the girls.”
"You are next, let's go." He repeated.
I.M knew that the only thing the manager wanted was for him not to be sitting around talking to Liv. Joon Hyung was not entirely wrong, and Olivia knew it, she had already sensed several gazes on them. Therefore, she agreed with the man, and with a smile for her rapper, she got up first.
Fortunately, Kihyun was already walking toward the girl, which allowed I.M to go a bit calmer.
“Liv, Wonwoo, hi!” The singer greeted. "Are you already leaving?"
“We just came to say hello to Changkyun, but he had to leave because they had to take some shots of him,” Wonwoo explained.
"Pictures of him alone?" It wasn't normal for the managers to call a member apart, plus Monsta X had already been photographed together, hence, Kihyun looked for the maknae and found him posing with Luda. "I hope that photograph doesn't come to light, I'm done with rumors." Kihyun commented while Wonwoo looked at his choreographer out of the corner of his eye.
Despite being genuinely introverted, the Seventeen rapper tried hard to start a conversation that had nothing to do with I.M and his colleague. Fortunately for him, Jooheon approached with another member of Seventeen and the conversation was much more fluid.
**********
Finally, in the apartment, Changkyun had been playing with his cat while Olivia finished removing her makeup. "You looked stunning tonight." He commented taking the cat down so he could hug Liv in such a way that he rested his chin on her shoulder. "I like you better this way though." He said causing the girl to laugh a little. “Baby, about Luda, that was nothing. We are from the same company, I have known her for some time, and we have bumped into each other in the cafeteria.”
"Did you go on a date with her?"
“It was only once, and absolutely nothing happened. I would not even call it a date. I was not interested in dating, Liv, I was waiting for you. I know that we weren't together, but I trusted you would come back."
Olivia remembered Kihyun's words when she and Changkyun were just starting to date and her brother had warned her about what kind of person the youngest of the group was. Changkyun's nature was to give his soul and heart to the people he loved, and all the time together proved that to Liv. Without doubting her boyfriend, she closed to the rapper and, taking his hands, kissed them.
Running his thumb delicately over Olivia's lower lip, I.M smirked. “Were you seriously jealous? YOU jealous?
"No... I just don't like you to hide things from me and you hadn't told me that."
"Liv, you're terrible at lying! You're even worse than me," he said laughing.
“Yeah, right... You still get sensible when you see me talking to Hoshi. Now that I think about it, you get upset with all the dancers I work with!”
"Where do you get those ideas?"
"Last time I told you I was going to eat with Astro's members you made such a scene that I had to call Jooheon to calm you down."
"Bullshit..." He said lying down and stretching his arms in such a way that his shirt allowed Liv to admire his abs. "I could never be mad at you for hanging out with them, Jinjin is one of my best friends."
"Oh, the irony! Jinjin himself told me that you are ridiculously annoying and that you asked him not to let Moonbin get any closer than necessary." She responded by bringing her hand to her boyfriend's firm stomach. A light touch from Liv was enough for I.M to close his eyes and sigh.
“He was lying”
"Kyun, admit it, you're more jealous than me."
"Nope…"
“Okay, then I'm glad to hear that because today I got a juicy offer. I was offered to take over the choreography for Moonbin's solo debut. They also want me to appear with him in the video.”
"WHAT?"
The speed with which I.M opened his eyes and sat back up provoked Liv to cover her lips to keep from laughing. Being calm was I.M's thing, staying calm and not exaggerating any emotion was a typical characteristic of the rapper, so seeing him react like that was truly comical.
However, more important than his jealousy was his concern for Liv's health. "Why more work, Olivia? You’re already in charge of Seventeen, you also have that new group, and from time to time you work with Astro. I don't want to see you with a burn-out."
"Kyun, you know that I don't work alone, I have amazing dancers creating the choreographies with me."
"And what about your knee? Baby, you need that surgery."
It took Olivia a long time to convince Changkyun that her knee was fine and that the doctor had told her that she could still wait a little longer before surgery, for now, the therapies were enough. However, once she assured him that she could handle the workload, the jealousy returned.
"You could just do the choreography, why does he want you in the video?"
"It was not only a request of Moonbin." She clarified. "His company thought it would be a good idea, that way I wouldn't have to train anyone because I would know all the moves."
"Well, obviously it's a good idea, you're perfect." He mumbled crossing his arms.
When it came to spoiled boyfriends, Changkyun was the king of them. He was used to receiving all of Olivia's attention, so having to share it was something he hated. Even so, they had never argued about it, the rapper's claims used to be more tender than serious, and that was precisely what happened that night. Trying not to make the problem bigger, Changkyun mumbled, or rather, complained to his cat as he played with him and ignored what Liv was trying to tell him.
I.M agreed to pay attention to her until Olivia sat in front of him and cupped his face. "I haven't signed anything yet, they just offered it to me today at dinner. It could be a good opportunity, but if you don't..."
“You know what would be a better opportunity? That you appear with me in my next video.”
"Kyun, I'd love to, and you know I'd do it without thinking if it didn't mean a problem for your career."
“It wouldn't be so weird, Liv. You are a great choreographer, just as Moonbin wants you for his video, another singer could ask you for the same thing, and that could be me.”
“Do you really think we can hide what we feel for each other? Because I don't think so." She said playing with the rapper's dark hair.
"Maybe if they let me make love to you in the video, we wouldn't have a problem." He joked leaning close to Liv's neck and slowly spreading kisses. "Do it, take the opportunity. You're too good for people not to see you. BUT if he gets any closer than necessary, I'll kill him, Olivia." He warned before losing himself in the body of the choreographer.
**********
The next day while Changkyun slept, Liv got up, took a bath and when she was ready to go out, she came over to kiss her boyfriend's forehead, who was turning around looking for her and making unintelligible sounds. However, Olivia had already learned to decipher what I.M said in those moments in which it was impossible to know if he was asleep or not.
“Baby, don't you remember? I told you I'd have breakfast with Jules. When I get back, we'll go to my parents' house."
“Tell her hi,” he said hugging the pillow Liv used. "Don't come back late, I've missed you so much."
With a smile on her face, the girl left the apartment. Being so early, she managed to get quickly to where her friend was waiting for her. Jules had already ordered coffee for both of them, and knowing Liv so well, she had also ordered breakfast.
"Oh! I've never met someone more efficient. Ki doesn't know what I like to eat and Kyun spends hours looking at the menu, even if we go to the same places and order the same thing, I swear he always does it."
"I figured you wouldn't have much time, you told me you're leaving town today."
"Yes, I'm desperate to do it."
Just as Julianne was about to reply to her friend, she was checking something on her cell phone, in fact, she was about to block it when she saw a picture that had just been uploaded. Her first instinct was to read the news, but if there was anyone who would be interested, it was Liv, since it was about her boyfriend.
"Liv, did you see the picture they took of Changkyun from yesterday?"
"What are you talking about?"
Jules handed over her cell phone and Liv even felt her stomach churn with anger at seeing I.M with Luda, and it wasn't just that, but also the title of the news, which hinted that they were both dating.
“Yesterday we talked about this…” Liv said with a sigh. “Apparently they went out once, he says nothing happened between them and I believe him, but she won't leave him alone. Jules, she chased him all night.”
“If she's bothering you, I can handle it. I can totally take care of this, in fact, I promise I'll scare her so much that she'll never come near her again."
Olivia laughed because she knew that her friend was capable of doing it, since the first time Jooheon introduced Jules to Liv, the dancer knew how brave she was.
“It's not that simple, and it's not just about her. I.M wants to make our relationship public.”
"And you don't want the same?"
“Of course I do! But I’m worried about what this might bring to his image. Can you imagine how people would react if they find out about you and Jooheon?”
“But we're not engaged, Liv, you are. You should be able to plan your wedding in peace and enjoy all of that properly.”
“I know it, and believe me, I want to do it too, but I’d like us to first think about how to do everything. The managers don’t like me very much, and I don't blame them, it hasn't been easy to deal with all this.”
"Fuck them! It's your relationship, not theirs."
Liv's jaw dropped at hearing her friend speak that way. Julianne used to be so polite and discreet that it wasn't common to hear her say things like that, but the girl was right, Monsta X managers didn't have to own that much control over the members and their private lives.
After a while, Liv also told her friend about the video with Moonbin and her boyfriend's reaction.
"Well, then there are several things to control, first that bitch, second your boyfriend's jealousy, third, Moonbin's dirty hands in that video, and fourth the noses that managers want to stick in everything."
"Jules, what's up with you today?" Liv asked laughing a lot and deciding that the best thing would be to change the matter or her friend would go to fight with the first person she found on the street. “Let’s talk about museums, paintings, and those things you like.”
*********
A few days after returning from Olivia's parents' house, Monsta X had a photo shoot. Liv had rushed in to watch the session, with all due caution, of course. The choreographer had stayed behind with Hyungwon, Jooheon, and Kihyun while the photographers worked with the maknae.
"Look at him, anyone who sees those pictures would think he's a badass." Jooheon joked.
"Badass, yeah right! We're talking about the same kid who was crying all over the place because Liv left him."
"Ki, don't be rude!" The girl said hitting him in the arm. “But you're right about something, Kyun is not like that. Do you want to see something funny?”
Kihyun, Jooheon, and Hyungwon saw Liv's mischievous look and nodded right there.
Being very careful not to be seen, Olivia took off the mask she was wearing, and moving a little from where she was, she placed herself in a spot where I.M. could see her. Once she had her boyfriend's attention, the girl winked at him and blew him a kiss. That was enough for Changkyun to turn so red that they had to fix his makeup countless times. In addition, when it was his turn to pose with the decoration that was next to him, he threw everything else on more than one occasion.
While that was happening, Jooheon, Kihyun, and Hyungwon laughed with Liv. For the guys, Changkyun would always be the baby of the group, and for Olivia, there was no one more adorable than him.
“Oh, look at him! He's finally smiling!" Hyungwon commented. “Since his photo with Luda came out, he has been more serious than usual.”
“Yes, dealing with Joon Hyung and Deok Joon has been somewhat chaotic,” Jooheon said as Kihyun nodded.
"I asked him to ignore that."
"Well, he didn't listen to you, little sister, he ordered that they clarify all those rumors immediately."
"I.M’s right, he has nothing to do with that girl, he is engaged to Liv, he doesn't have to put up with being related to someone else."
"Hyungwon, you know how this industry works, the rumors never stop even if the companies speak out," Jooheon said.
"Well, they could do better, I.M had every right to demand that clarification, now everyone's talking about it." Seeing Liv's face, Hyungwon placed his hand on her shoulder and smiled at her. “You don't have to feel bad, none of this is your fault and I want you to know that we all support your boyfriend. Shownu himself asked Deok Joon to help, after all, he's the most approachable. But he didn't get anything, he said to ignore this gossip and it will pass soon."
"It surprises me that this photograph was leaked, the guy who took it didn't sell it to anyone, there's evidence of that." Jooheon said.
“Do you think it was Luda? Her popularity went up quite a bit after that.” Kihyun mentioned.
"Changkyun should investigate more, what's more, not even him, Starship should take care of this and not allow the rumors to continue," Hyungwon said starting to get annoyed.
"After what happened with Wonho, are you still optimistic?" Kihyun asked ending the conversation because I.M was already walking towards them and his ears were still so red that it made everyone laugh.
“That wasn't funny, Liv! I was lousy in all the photographs.”
"You looked more handsome than ever!" Liv was controlling herself not to hug him, for the couple had the eyes of Joon Hyung and Deok Joon fixed on them.
“When you are recording your video, I swear I'll come and do the same to you.”
"It won't work, I don't embarrass myself so easily." She said winking at the same time that Changkyun imitated her and Kihyun looked at them feeling ashamed.
“How old are you two, fifteen? Behave.” Said the singer separating them.
*********
The creation of the choreography for Moonbin as well as the video shooting happened extremely quickly. Since Liv had worked with the idol before and knew how good dancer he was, it didn't take long for her to teach him the moves. As for the video recordings, I.M accompanied her but stayed on the sidelines with Jinjin, who continuously told him to relax and stop being so jealous. The video was very sexy and in several shots the closeness between Liv and Moonbin was more than Changkyun could tolerate. However, he controlled himself because I.M knew that it was a unique opportunity for Liv, and it really was, as soon as the video came out, many people were talking not only about the idol but also about her.
The collaboration had been so successful that Kihyun insisted on celebrating his sister and thus organized a dinner. However, there was a moment in which I.M just disappeared. It had been a long time since Liv had been alone with the boys and Jules, but her boyfriend was nowhere to be seen.
After apologizing to Minhyuk, since he was the one she was talking to at the time, the girl left the apartment, thinking that maybe I.M was in the garden, but there she only found Wonho and Shownu.
“Liv! What are you doing here? You are the star of the night.” Wonho said hugging her affectionately. “We were about to enter again.”
"I was looking for Kyun, have you seen him?"
"The last time I saw him, he told me he was going to get something out of the car." Shownu replied.
Even though the car was tinted, Olivia only had to get a little closer to discover that her boyfriend was arguing with someone. She heard almost nothing because the windows and doors were closed, but from the look on his face and the way he moved his hands, it was clear how furious he was.
It wasn't until Liv knocked on the door that Changkyun noticed her presence and seeing her there, he ended the call and tried to calm down before getting out of the car.
"Baby, what's up?" She asked hugging him as soon as he was close. The tension that the rapper had could be felt just by brushing his shoulders. "Did you argue with Deok Joon again?"
“Let's not talk about this, it's your night, we're celebrating." He kissed her forehead, but before he could leave, Liv took his hand, and just looking at him made him apologize. It wasn't that easy for Changkyun to forget about his bad communication habits, so sometimes he needed a little more help. “I want to clear up this whole Luda thing, I don't want any more rumors. And if my managers don't do it, then I will."
"It's just a photograph."
"Baby, you were the first to clarify that there was absolutely nothing between you and Hoshi when the rumors started a long time ago, you understand how I feel, so why don't you let me...?"
“It's not about giving you authorization, Kyun, I just want you to think things through. But if you want to do it, I'll support you.”
I.M was silent for a moment, but then he looked at his girl and put his arms around her. Taking advantage of the closeness, he spoke into her ear. “I'm not going to do it just because it could affect you. I don't want them to talk about you, or persecute you."
“I can take it.”
“I know, but I don't want you to do that, at least not yet. Let's talk about this later, it's your night."
The couple was entering the room when they found a scene they had NEVER seen before. Everyone, absolutely all his friends were silent and too serious, all looking at a cell phone.
"What's going on?" Changkyun asked.
“Better sit down…” Jooheon said.

Part 1   Part 2   Part 3   Part 4   Part 5   Part 6   Part 7
~Admin V
You had trouble sleeping in your own bed. Partly because there were so many possibilities for you now and your mind was playing any and all ideas, and partly because you were spoiled by the Baverse mattress and couldn’t get comfortable.
As you lay awake, you worked out your plans for the next day. First, you’d have to stop by the library and use the computer to look up housing in San Fran. The idea of renting a car to get there seemed more comfortable with all your newly acquired belongings than toting everything on a bus.
Checking out schools for completing your G.E.D. was also on your list. You’d work on the job situation once you got there. The school could have programs to help you with that.
And Kihyun. You couldn’t stop yourself from thinking about him. His heartbroken face when you told him you weren’t going to spend the night with him. The way he nodded at the door when he screamed for K.Will to get the hell out. How his lips felt against yours the night before when you kissed him again and again.
At some point you’d finally dozed off. Frantic knocking on your door woke you. Looking at the clock it was a bit after 10a.m. The landlord must’ve been antsy for the rent. Sifting through the envelop from Kihyun, you grabbed what was due, but when you opened the door, it wasn’t the landlord standing before you.
His shoulders relaxed when he sighed with relief. “You’re here.”
Your jaw fell slack. “Kihyun? Aren’t you supposed to be on a plane to Korea?” You glanced around in the hall. “How do you know where I live?”
“Changkyun. When I was checking out, he casually mentioned that the limo driver took you home yesterday.” He took a deep breath. He must’ve run up all the flights of stairs to your floor.
Gesturing for him to enter your apartment, he took another breath of relief.
Facing you, he continued. “I’m an idiot.”
You smiled to that. “Yeah?”
He was flustered. It was clear there was so much he wanted, needed to express but didn’t know where to start. “You said this week changed everything for you. It changed everything for me as well. It just took me longer to realize it.” He began pacing in front of you, his words spewing out quickly. “Never, not in a million years would I have bought Honey Bear Records to save it. I was on the path of destruction and had absolutely no intention of ever getting off of it. But you,” he ran his fingers through his hair and looked you in the eyes. “You showed me I still have a heart. I don’t have to be the villain I’d turned myself into.
“When I told you I wanted to put you up in a condo and see you, that wasn’t my intention to have you waiting for me; waiting for money, waiting for me to use you. That was old me. How I dealt with past relationships. They’ve always been about me using them when I needed them.” He cringed at himself when he heard what he’d just said.
Stroking his arm to let him know it was okay and you weren’t running from him, you encouraged him to continue.
“I like who I am with you. And, it will be a learning process. I’m sure that I will still do and say things to fuck it all up, but I can’t let you go.”
Mouth agape again, you could only stare at him.
His confidence was back as he squared his shoulders and took your hands in his. “I can’t go back to South Korea, not without you. I don’t care if we stay here in Los Angeles, or even here in this apartment.” You noticed his grimace as he looked around but he quickly recovered to a face of sincerity. “I don’t care where I am, as long as I’m with you.
“I can understand if you don’t want me buying everything and doing everything for you. You’re a self-made woman and I respect that about you. But I do have money, and I don’t see why it can’t be used if it will help you.” He went back to pacing, seeming to have said something he hadn’t meant to.
“What’s wrong, Kihyun?”
He stopped and focused on you. “You’re not my personal prostitute or beck-and-call girl. I know you’re not.” Taking a deep breath, he stepped closer and looked into your eyes. “But I want you to be mine.”
Your heart beat sped and you felt a blush in your cheeks.
He lifted your chin with his fingers so you were looking him in the eye. “You said yesterday you wanted me to love you. Love you for you. I . . .” He took a sharp inhale, but it didn’t stop his lip from quivering. “I . . .” he tried again.
You couldn’t help the wide grin that spread across your face. “I love you, too.”
Though he looked comforted, it didn’t stop another tremble of his lips and you saw tears sitting in his eyes. They closed when you leaned up and pressed your forehead against his.
“You don’t have to say it back if you’re not ready. We’ve only known each other a week after all.” You kissed the tip of his nose.
Sighing, he pressed away from you to look at you. “It’s not that.” His voice was squeaky and it pulled at your heartstrings. He’d finally slowed down his words. “When I’ve said it before in past relationships, I never meant it. Not like I mean it now.” The tears overwhelmed him as they now trickled down his cheeks. “I’m scared,” he breathed.
Carefully, you held his face in your hands. “You don’t need to be. I am yours.”
When he smiled, you couldn’t help yourself from giving him a soft, chaste kiss. He pressed back, and the two of you took the moment to just savor the feeling, the closeness. Pecking his lips a few times, you pressed one more smooch before leaning your forehead against his again.
Kihyun caressed your cheek. “I don’t deserve such a pretty woman.”
“Then you’re quite a lucky man.”
 Six Months Later
You pulled your brand-new, sleek, cyan blue Dodge Viper in front of Honey Bear Records. Yes, you were a self-made woman, but you also needed a car. And with Kihyun offering to get you such a lovely one for passing your G.E.D., who were you to refuse?
Walking into a studio, Hyunwoo was sitting in the back of the room on a couch. He looked up when he heard your footsteps. “Hey, how’d the test in music production go?”
After retrieving the test in question from your bag, you handed it to him. His face instantly lifted. “Yeah! Look at you, big time college girl!” He gave you a high five then you plopped down on the couch next to him.
“How’s our boy doing?”
Both of you turned your attention to the front of the room. Jooheon was sitting in front of the sound board and recording equipment. Behind the laminated glass, Kihyun was in the zone, warming up his voice before the music started.
You couldn’t hide your smile as you watched him. He was so passionate as he got into the music. Then his lyrics started.
I can suddenly feel something has changed I am becoming an adult I don't hate myself Even when I see my weakness I tended to get anxious Thinking about me after a few years Rather than how I feel today I was like that at that time
I feel like I will miss those foolish Days, which made me work harder The days when I was young and cheerful And the heart that was pumping so fast after dancing hard I feel like the sky is beautiful nowadays
His voice cracked and he indicated for Jooheon to stop the music. Once he had a few swigs of water he kept repeating the note he couldn’t seem to get right.
Jooheon spun around in his chair toward you. “Queen! Tell me you aced the test!”
Getting up you handed it to him.
His face beamed when he looked at you. “That’s my girl.”
You nodded your head in the direction of Kihyun. “How many takes has he been doing for this one?”
“Just a few. You know he’s a perfectionist, so if it doesn’t sound the way he wants it, we start over.”
It was part of his passion for the music.
A mischievous smile appeared on Jooheon’s face. “You know, now that you’re here, I’m sure if he were to relieve some of that frustration, he’d be able to get his notes right.”
“Jooheon,” Hyunwoo warned, embarrassment causing him to blush.
You couldn’t help but laugh. “Is that so?”
Hyunwoo got up and slapped the younger man in the shoulder. “Please excuse him. All this time in the studio has clearly deprived him of oxygen to the brain.” He pulled Jooheon from the chair and pushed him towards the door. “Go get some fresh air.”
Jooheon laughed and faced you. “I’m gonna get some coffee, you want your usual?”
“Yes please,” you couldn’t help but laugh with him. Once he was out of the room, Hyunwoo looked apologetic.
“Though I don’t agree with my partner’s exact suggestion,” he then motioned toward Kihyun, “I do think he could use a bit of a break and some words of reassurance.” The blush was still present as he bowed. “I’ll give you two some time.” He too left the room, leaving it to just you and Kihyun.
Knocking on the studio door, Kihyun looked a little surprised to see you.
“Hey,” he smiled. He looked through the glass and noticed the others were gone. “Where’d they go?”
“Coffee break. Jooheon heavily hinted you could use a release.”
His face turned red. “What did he say?”
You closed the distance between the two of you. “Oh, just that you might sound better if you let some of that tension go.”
The blush was gone and his confident power took its place. “What did you have in mind?”
Smiling, your hand reached down to touch him through his pants. “I was thinking blow job.”
A smirk formed on his face. “And what if you screaming my name will relieve the tension?”
Before you could answer, the studio door flung open. Both you and Kihyun watched as Jooheon walked in, hand over his eyes. “I forgot I had the headphones and the sound still on. Don’t mind me.” It was very clear he wasn’t at all ashamed of interrupting and he even peaked through his fingers at one point, trying to catch any action. When he dropped the wireless headphones in the chair, and made sure all the sound equipment was off, he left. Kihyun and you burst out into laugher. You each laughed so hard you had to sit on the ground until you calmed down.
When you were both back to normal breathing patterns, Kihyun moved so his back was against the wall and pulled you into his arms. He played with your hair as you played with his fingers. The laughing worked to get rid of his stress.
Looking up, you smiled at him. “The song is very pretty from what I heard.”
He smiled back at you. “You think so?”
“I’m very biased, of course, but yes.”
His grin widened. He looked from your eyes to you lips then bent down to kiss you. The musk of his cologne mixed with his sweet tastes made your head spin. You kissed him back until you felt breathless. If it were up to you, you’d never stop kissing him. When he bit against your lip, you couldn’t help the low groan it caused.
Shifting your position, you turned to better face him, crawling in his lap. You deepened the kiss as you breathed him in and he slid his tongue into your mouth. Your new spot in his lap allowed you to grind against him, feeling his growing hardon against your growing wetness.
Kihyun’s hands snaked up your back, under your shirt to unhook your bra.
You jumped when your phone vibrated in your back pocket. He grabbed it for you and you both looked at the screen. It was Jooheon.
He put it on speaker. “Wasn’t it your idea for her to help me blow off some steam?”
Jooheon laughed. “She ordered a coffee. I just wanted to know if it was safe to bring it in to her.”
“Unless you want to clean up the love stain we’re about to make, I suggest you and Hyunwoo leave the building. Now.”
There was stunned silence on the other line, and before Jooheon answered, Kihyun hung up.
He then held you as he again shifted your positions so that you were on your back and he hovering over you.
“A love stain, huh?” you chuckled.
“A big one.” He brushed hair from your forehead.
“Well, I hate to break it to you, but I don’t have a condom.”
“That’s not funny.”
“Well, I’ve changed my profession. I no longer have need to carry around a buffet of safety.”
The sad, puppy pout you gave made you crack up with laughter. You reached into your bra and retrieved a condom. Old habits die hard.
His pout was replaced with a smirk. “You’re going to be punished for that.”
Matching his smirk, you replied. “I better be.”
Kihyun nipped at your nose. His face switched from playful to serious. “I love you.”
Your hand reached to caress his cheek. “I love you, too.”
He leaned down to kiss you again. It was short lived as you pushed him away. “If Jooheon and Hyunwoo are going home, how are you gonna finish recording when we’re finished?”
“Didn’t you have a production test today?”
“ . . . Yeah?”
“Then maybe you can give it a shot.”
You pushed him off so you could sit up. “Are you sure? I’m still unsure about some of the equipment. I don’t want to mess anything up.”
Brushing a stray hair behind your ear, he gave an earnest smile. “The best way to learn is trying. I can help, too.”
He sounded certain, but you weren’t as confident as he was. “I just don’t want to mess it up. I know how you like everything. I don’t want to get lost in the equipment.”
He grinned wider and shook his head. “We’ll figure it out together. I promise to be on my best behavior and not snippy like I am with Jooheon. And if we get lost in the equipment, I do recall getting lost in Hollywood is how we both ended up here.”
Finally convinced, you smiled back at him. “Okay. But now I’m not in the mood to create a love stain with you.”
He jokingly groaned, but you could tell he was also more interested in getting back to the music. Helping you up, you both left the sound booth and sat in front of the recording equipment. Luckily, you did know a good portion of what to do, and what you didn’t Kihyun handled.
With everything ready, he went back into the other room. You spoke into the intercom. “Are you ready for the ride of your life?”
Shaking his head while chuckling, he gave you a wink. “Let’s do it.”
The End

Should've Known Better
Tumblr media
Request: Here I am requesting PAIN. 17 with Kihyun~ (First interaction maybe based off when we did the hi-touch?) 💕 so happy for you to be writing here again, bby.
Prompt:
17) Two mini fics in one: The first time you see your bias. The last time you see your bias (guaranteed heart break ahead)
Prompt list can be found HERE.
Pairing: Monsta X Kihyun x Reader
Genre: Literally all of them (romance/fluff/angst)
.
The first time...
You pulled at the light stick strap dangling from your mondoongie, waves of nerves ricocheting through you. You were going to do it. You really secured a hi-touch to interact with Monsta X.
Tugging out your phone for what had to be the dozenth time, you popped open the camera app, and began examining your face. If you were going to get one shot at this, you were going to make it count. Sure, Monsta X were just regular guys with a pretty unique choice in career, but you wanted to impress them. Who wouldn't want to make sure they looked good in front of people they found incredibly attractive?
Watching anxiously as the row before you began to be ushered into the meet and greet space, you stood on your tip toes in an attempt to see what the process was. It looked like the seven boys were placed behind long folding tables. These acted as a barrier between the artists and the fans. Each member had their arm outstretched, ready to high five each fan and get in a kind word when possible. The contact was minimal, but it was enough.
Your heart dropped to your stomach as you quickly realized the row in front of you had been completed in the span of a breath. They were moving the fans so quickly, but it was unfortunately understandable. The staff and group had to be so tired after putting on such an amazing show. It was better to meet them briefly than not at all.
Before you could actually internalize what was happening, your feet were moving in a forward motion. Somehow you felt freezing and on fire at the same time. All you had to do was make sure you didn't embarrass yourself. The bar was really that low.
Approaching the tables, your eyes locked on the first member you would be interacting with, Jooheon. His confidence and swag had immediately attracted you and you muttered a quick prayer before lifting your hand. While you hoped to encapsulate every memory you made, you simultaneously hoped this would be over as quickly as possible. The turmoil of being a fan.
"Hello!" Jooheon sang as you place your fingers around his.
"Hi," you whispered back breathlessly. Just like that, you were moved on to the next member. Why hadn't you thought to say something special? Why were you just dizzily whispering a greeting in everyone's direction?
After Jooheon came Wonho and Minhyuk. It was such a blur that you weren't even entirely sure if you had made eye contact.
Trying to keep your breathing even, you moved on to Shownu and Hyungwon, both so tall they were leaning over the table and toward the fans. You greeted them both in turn before moving along to Kihyun.
You immediately knew this was different.
From being a long time monbebe, you knew Kihyun's archetype. He was a powerful singer, the "mom" of the group, a merciless flirt, and endlessly sassy. That mischievous attitude was bright in his eyes as soon as they slid to yours.
You thought you were prepared, or at least as prepared as you had been with the other members.
"Hello," he chimed, his smile widening as you placed your hand into his.
You echoed the word back to him and went to move forward, but it took a moment to recognize that your hand was still caught. You looked back toward Kihyun, momentarily shocked.
"MOVE THE LINE!" a security guard shouted, but all you could hear was a buzzing in your ears. What was happening?
"You're so pretty," he cooed, that smile turning into a smirk.
Your expression dropped and your mouth formed a small "o" before you realized the need for a response. "Oh, uh, thank you so much!"
Kihyun nodded as the security guard shouted again. Eying him over your shoulder, he finally let go of your fingers.
Blinking repeatedly, trying and failing to get a grasp on the situation, your body guided you to the final and youngest member, Changkyun. After giving him a high five, you were officially finished. You could actually breath again.
You felt suddenly exhilarated as you pushed out of the side doors of the building. That had gone much better than expected.
..
"He said I was pretty," you whispered to yourself as you shuffled off to the direction of the parking area. The realization crashed over you like a wave. It was a good enough feeling when someone you recognized as attractive also found you attractive, but this was next level. It wasn't just some random guy who hit on you in a super market, this was THE Yoo Kihyun of Monsta X.
And sure, were you hyping it up to be more than what it was? Maybe, but you felt good and you wouldn't let anyone take that away from you.
"Excuse me!" a deep voice shouted behind you, knocking you out of your thoughts. You glanced back to notice an intimidatingly large man stomping your way. Turning around and looking in just about every other direction, you were horrified to realize you were all alone.
"Stupid," you muttered as your body went hot, then cold. Your stomach felt hollow as fear now prickled the hairs on the back of your neck.
"Yo!" the man called again, this time much closer.
"I'll call the cops!" you squeaked, your hands searching through your bag for anything that could be used as a weapon.
"The cops?" the guy muttered before laughing. He halted his forward motion before calling out to you instead. "We need you to sign some paperwork."
Furrowing your brows, you spun around. Paper work? Since when had you ever filled out a survey at the end of a concert?
"I'm sorry, what?" you asked.
"Paperwork, for the monsters or whatever," he said, pointing back in the direction of where you had just came.
Paperwork for Monsta X? This was getting stranger by the moment. Maybe he was attempting to lure you off until you were really SOL. Or maybe he actually did need you to sign something. Maybe there was some sort of consent form for being filmed during the show if the staff were going to use it in a music video or promotion?
Giving in to your trusting nature, you decided to follow the burly man back into the stadium. You made sure to keep at least three yards behind, and your finger on your phone's emergency call butoon.
Upon entering the building, you were ushered through what seemed like an endless amount of hallways, only stopping when you reached a door marked as "Private."
Worrying your lip, you couldn't ignore the feeling of being so very alone in this situation. You saw no other security guards leading fans in your direction. Matter of fact, everything had grown to a level of deafening quiet.
"Here you go," the security guard hummed, unlocking the door, and motioning for you to go in.
The room was simple enough. Racks of clothes were pushed toward the walls, while a couch sat in the room's center. Before it, a small coffee table had been placed, and atop that, a stack of papers.
"Go ahead and sign those, and wait for someone to come back in," he nodded before shutting the door. You grimaced as you heard the audible click of him locking it.
"Shit," you muttered, trying to reason with the panic. "Shit, shit."
Pacing back and forth for a moment, trying to come up with any type of escape plan, you couldn't help but kick yourself. Why would you follow any strange man anywhere? You should have said something, you should have put up a fight, you should...at least examine the papers he had directed you to.
Rounding the table, you plopped onto the couch, and took the stack into your hands. The last thing you were expecting appeared on the header.
Non Disclosure Agreement.
....
In the end...
"You ready?" a voice you recognized sounded through the door.
Was he talking to you? Surely he wasn't...
Kihyun's head popped into the doorway, a large smile plastered there. "Are you ready?"
You opened your mouth and closed it again, unsure of what exactly you were supposed to be ready for.
Kihyun chuckled to himself as he crossed the room. Looking down at the unsigned NDA, he looked up again in confusion. "You didn't sign the stupid little thingie."
"i'm sorry?" you said softly, narrowing your eyes. "I'm not exactly sure what I'm signing it for?"
All of the worst thoughts crossed through your mind. You realized you didn't really "know" your idols. All you knew was what they allowed you to and how they portrayed themselves on screen. Was Kihyun really a creep? Were Monsta X really a band of illustrious perverts?
Kihyun stepped back, his expression still one of confusion. "So we can go get food?"
"Okay," you murmured, trying to tamper your own confusion. "What?"
Kihyun motioned helplessly to the paperwork between you. "It's a technicality. I saw you, I thought you were pretty, I want to take you to eat. You have to sign your name so you can't go and tell people how good looking and intelligent I was."
"Is that it?" you mused, relief washing over you.
"What can I say?" he grinned. "I have enough good publicity."
....
Kihyun had taken you to a hole in the wall bar, hardly a five minute walk from the venue. After asking how he even knew it existed, he said he had asked the security team where the best place to grab food this late would be.
"No, no, no," he said slowly, wiggling a fry at your face. "What do you meaaan you don't like Imagine Dragons?"
"I didn't say I didn't like them," you huffed. "They just aren't my go to."
"Then what's your go to?" he asked, tossing the fry into his mouth.
You thought for a moment before grinning. "Monsta X."
Kihyun covered his mouth as he let out a startled laugh. "Ha-ha, but no, really."
"Really!" you insisted.
"You don't need to boost my ego, Y/N," he smiled, dipping another fry into ketchup. "I'm fine doing that myself."
"I've become aware," you grinned. "But seriously, you don't have any idea how much your music means to me and other fans around the world. Of course you have some level of understanding, but I wish you could feel how we do in our hearts."
Tilting his head to the side and giving you a close lipped smile, Kihyun assessed you. He reached forward and grasped your hand in his. "That's very sweet of you."
Sweet and pretty - two words you had never expected to come out of an idol's mouth and in your direction. This night felt like a dream, at moments, you were convinced it was. Why would someone like him spend time in a dingy bar getting to know one of his fans? Sure, you were special in your own way, but you didn't think you exuded the level of excitement it took to capture a celebrity's attention.
"Can I ask you something?"
"Depends on if I have an answer," he hummed, his hand still on yours.
"Why me?" you asked, furrowing your brows. You attempted to avoid his gaze as you continued. "Like why pick me specifically, and why did you want to grab dinner? This whole night has been a huge mystery to me. Is this normal?"
"Define normal," he grinned. He began tracing small circles on the back of your hand with his finger. "You have to understand, my life is anything but."
"Well, obviously," you sighed. "But that's not really an answer."
"I don't know, Y/N," he grumbled. Withdrawing his hand, he continued. "I don't know how much you know about me, but my assumption is a fair amount. My job...we don't stay in one place for very long and it can get so lonely. Yeah, we have each other, but even that isn't enough sometimes. Sometimes you just want to talk to someone. Someone who sees you and someone who you can take a brief moment to see in return. It's a slice of our support net and I think that's very important...
And of course you are attractive, which helps."
Tossing your napkin at the table, you let out a laugh. "Why are you like this?"
"Why do I have a feeling you like it?" he grinned.
Probably because you did.
"Let's get headed back," Kihyun sighed. "I've got to get back to schedules tomorrow and you have to...I assume...go to work? Daydream about me?"
"I'm not honoring that with a response," you chuckled. Sliding from the booth, you watched as Kihyun tossed some cash on the table before standing beside you. Wrapping an arm around your shoulders, he tucked you into his side. Suddenly, air seemed a lot more difficult to breath and your lungs were much too small to handle the normal amount of oxygen.
Guiding you out of the bar and down the street, you tried to savor the moment for what it was. It was a relatively quiet walk back to the venue, the night coming to a much quicker close than you had wanted. No questions crossed your mind to spark conversation, only the feel of Kihyun's hand wrapped around your waist dominated your thoughts.
"Well, I have to say, that was a lot of fun," Kihyun sighed, stopping short of the back door you had originally left from. "You were truly a great date."
"Thanks," you smiled, looking down at your feet. If you looked at him, you were scared you would cry, or laugh, or maybe a mixture of both. No one would believe you even if you were allowed to talk about tonight. Let alone, that the chemistry between the two of you had been pulsing since you first set eyes on each other.
"Hey," he whispered, sliding his fingers around your chin and tilting it upwards. His eyes searched yours as you felt lost in his. He was so close, so painfully close.
But it would be delusional if he...if he...
"Hey," you breathed.
With his free hand, Kihyun reached up, tucking a wayward strand of hair behind your ear. Moving the hand that was on your chin, he chose to trace the line of your jaw all the way back until he was holding the back of your neck.
"I guess..." he said quietly, likely afraid to shatter the fragile moment between the two of you. "What would a good date be without a good night kiss?"
His face hovered before yours for a moment, his eyes searching and unsure.
You gave a very slow, small nod which was all of the approval he needed.
You could instantly tell Kihyun was touch starved. As soon as his lips met yours, you could almost feel his sigh of relief, the tension falling from his shoulders. Wrapping his free hand around your waist, he tugged you closer while simultaneously tilting your head back with the other hand. Deepening the kiss, he let out a small groan as his tongue slipped in between your lips. He tasted like mint and something you suspiciously wondered was ketchup. It wasn't unpleasant at all.
Pulling away for a moment, Kihyun looked at you again. "Y/N...we probably shouldn't..."
"Probably not," you agreed quietly.
Taking the edge of his bottom lip between his teeth, he stared at you in contemplation before leaning forward again. Placing another soft kiss to your lips, this time the sigh was audible. He instantly stepped back, dropping his hands from your body.
The feeling of loss was immediate.
"No," he said confidently. "That...that was wrong. I'm sorry, I took advantage...and, and you trusted me. Shit."
"This is wrong," you repeated numbly. Now you really were considering crying.
"I can't see you again," he said quietly, avoiding your attention. Suddenly something very interesting had apparently popped up beside his shoe.
"I get it," you said quickly. "Maybe we could exchange information?" You knew you were a fool for suggesting it, but tonight was special and you were convinced you weren't the only one who thought that.
"No," Kihyun said, this time looking up. "You're a fan...this...this isn't how this works."
His words felt like a slap to your face. "I wasn't just a fan not even five minutes ago, Kihyun."
"I didn't mean it like that," he groaned, pinching the bridge of his nose. "You know what I mean. You look up to me in a way, and I breached that trust."
"But you didn't," you croaked. You had wanted him to kiss you. Not as an idol, but a boy who had just taken you to dinner. You knew how irrational this all was.
He looked up again and gave a tight nod.
"I see now," you said quietly. "How lonely it is. Creating human connection and then severing it all in one night. You must be exhausted."
"This wasn't normal," he insisted. "I don't...I don't just go around making out with every fan I meet!"
"Well, I would hope not."
"Y/N," he sighed. "Can we just...part ways here? I hope you still support us as kindly as you have and look back on this night fondly."
You nodded slowly, sucking at the inside of your cheek. "Sure I will...but will you?"
He looked at you with a stony expression before turning on his heel and heading back into the stadium.
You shook your head before doing the same in the direction of the parking garage.
You should have known better.

BEST FRIEND MONSTA X A⇴Z HEADCANON ⇴ Yoo Kihyun
Tumblr media
A ⇴ ATTENTION
Whilst he didn’t like to pay too much attention to you, Kihyun would almost certainly at least glance at you every now and then when the two of you were in the same room but not stood side by side with one another.
B ⇴ BICKER
Sometimes the two of you could bicker all day long if you were left to your own devices, other days the two of you wouldn’t bicker if it was the last thing that you could do in the world. It very much depended on how you both were feeling if the two of you bickered or not, usually if you were in a childish mood or not.
C ⇴ COMFORT
It was no overstatement for you to describe Kihyun as a bit of a rock for you whenever you needed comforting. He always managed to make you feel like the most important thing in the world when you needed comforting, it didn’t matter how busy Kihyun was too, he’d never let it get in the way of being there for you.
D ⇴ DISAGREEMENTS
The two of you knew each other incredibly well, you knew exactly when something could potentially start a disagreement between you both, and unless one of you was feeling particularly petty, you’d stop yourselves from saying it. For the two of you to start a disagreement with one another, you’d know that something else must be going on, making sure that the other was alright and not stressed by anything.
E ⇴ EARLY YEARS
It took a little bit of time for the two of you to get to know each other, but once that initial awkwardness had passed between the two of you, you got on like a house on fire. You found yourselves feeling as if you’d been friends for years, when you had only known each other for a few months, relying on each other more than you ever imagined that you would end up relying on one individual.
F ⇴ FAMILY
Kihyun’s family were huge fans of yours, seeing how kind you were to Kihyun was enough for them to know that they adored you. His mum especially took you under her wing, seeing the twinkle in her son’s eye whenever he talked about his best friend let her know just how special you were, with her giving you the biggest hug every single time you saw her, and asking you how you were as soon as you sat down too.
G ⇴ GETTING TOGETHER
Most of the time the two of you tried to do as little as possible when you hung out, your focus was usually just on catching up with one another. You’d usually find that it was almost time for the two of you to say goodbye by the time that you caught each other up on everything anyway to make any other plans.
H ⇴ HABITS
The two of you had a habit of forgetting about other plans that you had because you’d pencilled stuff in with each other. Kihyun often missed rehearsals or meetings at work because he forgot about them, accidentally double booking himself, but choosing you every single time and not thinking about work.
I ⇴ INSIDE JOKES
Most of your inside jokes were because one of you had ended up saying the wrong thing and confusing your words, leaving the other in stitches. Kihyun’s favourite one was when he took you to a fancy restaurant once and you completely mispronounced the dish that you wanted, leaving the waiter perplexed.
J ⇴ JEALOUSY
There was only ever one instance when Kihyun would get jealous of the fact that you had other friends, and that would be when he was away from home and on the road. He was mainly jealous because your other friends got to spend time with you whilst he was stuck thousands of miles away from you and only able to speak to you on the phone if you were lucky enough for your time zones to align together.
K ⇴ KICKS
Kihyun got a kick out of seeing you excited, he loved seeing you pumped up and ready to give something a go. He was beyond fond of your smile and loved watching you when you were proud of yourself, it didn’t happen too often, but when it did, he was there as your hype man to boost your mood too.
L ⇴ LOVE
He loved being with you, Kihyun just felt happy when he was able to spend time with you. He never failed to appreciate having you as a best friend, no matter what it was that the two of you were doing. Whether you were messing around with each other, or whether you were helping the other out when they were having a bit of a rough time, the time that he spent with you was always valued by Kihyun.
M ⇴ MEETING
The two of you first met when you were hosting an event that Kihyun and the rest of the boys were working at just after they debuted. You took them under your wing and showed them the ropes which Kihyun especially appreciated, deciding to ask for your number after the end of the event for the future.
N ⇴ NONSENSE
Nothing made him smile more than just being him, and you definitely gave him the space to be able to do that. Sometimes all he needed was a moment of crazy to forget about things, which was time that he had with you.
O ⇴ OBSESSION
Kihyun was obsessed with your attitude and tried to follow you a lot. He was inspired by how positive you were and how you always looked for the good which was a motto that he tried his best to live by too.
P ⇴ PRECIOUS MOMENTS
The times when the two of you got to work together were always Kihyun’s favourite times. You still hosted a few things that the boys worked on after your first meeting, and seeing you host, and him perform meant that you both got to cheer for each other which was Kihyun’s favourite thing for you to do together.
Q ⇴ QUESTIONS
Both of you were pretty confident that you knew each other like the backs of your hands, and so if something didn’t seem right, you’d ask the other how they were, and usually be correct in guessing something was up.
R ⇴ RANDOM FACTS
One of the things that you did that you knew always annoyed Kihyun was when you stole things out of his wardrobe. He’d lost count of how many times he opened up his wardrobe only to find what he wanted missing, knowing exactly who had helped themselves to whatever it was without even having to think.
S ⇴ SUPPORT
He loved having you supporting him, Kihyun tried to have you at as many things as possible as it always made him feel better knowing that you were there. When he knew that you were working at an event that he was going to be at, Kihyun couldn’t help but get excited knowing that his best friend would be there too.
T ⇴ TRIPS
Whenever the boys went on the road, Kihyun always wanted to know what days you had off when he was away so that he could try and arrange for him to come to at least a couple of cities and see him perform.
U ⇴ ULTIMATE
The two of you had the kind of friendship that others were quite envious of, they wished they could be as close to someone as you to were.
V ⇴ VISITS
When he had some time off, Kihyun would often stop by your place and see how you were getting on. If you were working, then he’d sit nice and quietly and wait to talk to you once you were done with everything.
W ⇴ WISDOM
He tried his best to always offer you the most helpful advice, Kihyun only ever wanted to support you and try and help you out.
X ⇴ XXXX
At times the two of you were affectionate, other times you were. It very much depended on the time and the place for the two of you as to whether you hugged each other and were physical with one another.
Y ⇴ YOU
You were his rock, Kihyun relied on you more than you ever realised he did.
Z ⇴ ZZZ
The two of you tended to meet earlier in the day as you knew your meetings could last for a long time, so you’d try and end things at a reasonable time so that the two of you could both get home safely.
