Reviews for Survival: The Covid Years
My third book Survival: 'The Covid Years' is on out with @Zooloos Book Tours. Why not tag along and see what they're saying about the book.
Part blurb and your reason for buying the book...
“By shedding light on her personal challenges through the pandemic, Ilana encourages the reader to explore the thoughts and feelings raised by their own pandemic journey. In this way she aims to unlock future potential for others, enabling them to move on from this enormously difficult time. A must read for anyone wanting to take positive steps after the challenges of Covid-19.”
Review by Sambooka23
@ilana_estelle_author - you know how much I have loved your last two books and this was no different. Always so raw and true. I know how I felt during Covid and the lockdown, before I became a key worker, I was furloughed for six months and it eventually played with my mental health. I can’t imagine how it would have been for you, Ilana or anyone suffering with a disability.
This book was a hard read in the aspect that the emotion is so pure, so raw and honest. In some ways, it’s a hard read to hear how much you had to retrain your mindset and write letters to yourself to help with how you were feeling - a good idea but also hard to read.
You made me think of feelings and challenges that I went through during the pandemic that threw my life out of control. Living day by day wondering what was happening, how my family were and unable to see my Gran, Grandpa and brother for 4 months.
Yet, Ilana is still positive throughout it all and she learns from her feelings. Despite her life feeling out of control and having to adapt to a new way of living with her disability and being vulnerable, she doesn’t let it get to her and writes a book about it. Helping not only her but her readers explore their thoughts and feelings regarding Covid.
An open and honest book regarding the struggles and effects the pandemic had on Ilana and how she got herself through the shielding, isolating and lockdowns.
Thank you to @ilana_estelle_author and @reddoorbooks for sending me a copy of your book and to @zooloosbooktours for having me on tour with you!
The Bookish Hermit (Laura)
When Covid and quarantines hit the nation I think it’s fair to say that everybody struggled more than they thought they would, what we all hoped would be something that resolved itself in a matter of weeks or months, turned into a global pandemic and possible catastrophe!
The mental health and general health of thousands of people was affected, people who had never experienced things like anxiety and depression before were hit with it. Covid was killing people and we all slowly began to realize that this thing was not going to go away.
Survival the Covid years is one woman’s story, it’s raw and totally honest. Ilana Estelle was diagnosed with autism when she was 56 years old in 2019. I cannot even begin to imagine what coming to terms with this diagnosis was like at that age and having the pandemic to deal with on top of that must have been horrendous.
Ilana tells us her story here, she goes into detail about her thoughts, feelings and emotions. She explains her struggles clearly, everything is written in a way that’s easy to understand and relate to. She also shares her experiences and coping mechanisms and strategies with us.
It doesn’t matter who you are, I can guarantee that you will all get something from this book! It’s beautifully written and contains many things that many people need to hear right now. I really want to say more! This lady has an incredible story and I really want to thank her personally for sharing it!
Go pick this one up people!
An easy 5 stars! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I would like to say a massive thank you to Zooloos Book Tours (@ZooloosBT) for gifting me a free review copy of this book! Views and opinions are my own and have not been influenced by anyone.
If you're interested in grabbing a copies of the book, you can order Kindle or paperback copies on Amazon, and through the following link https://linktr.ee/Ilana_Estelle

Today is my day on the book tour for A Truth for a Truth by Carol Wyer - the 4th book in her DI Kate Young series. Wyer writes some great crime fiction where no character is safe. She’s a genuinely nice person (except that the Brad character in this book is “surly as usual” 🤦🏼‍♂️😂) This book is available now. Book Blurb DI Kate Young’s team is hunting for a killer. What they don’t know…is that the killer is her.

DI Kate Young has known for years that her boss, Superintendent John Dickson, is a violent and evil man. But when she finally confronts him and accidentally shoots and kills him, she’s forced to cover her tracks before anyone can pin his death on her. With revelations about his corruption soon to become public knowledge, Kate sets up a trail of evidence to make it seem that Dickson has conveniently vanished…

But Kate knows the corruption doesn’t end with Dickson. As she heads up the team investigating his supposed disappearance, she also pursues other loose ends. Stanka, the sex worker who supplied the evidence against Dickson, leads her to crucial information on another corrupt officer, DI Harriet Khatri, and her dubious involvement with sex traffickers.

As the noose starts to tighten on Kate, she finds herself targeted by traffickers, the bent cops on her force and even her own team of detectives. Can she stay one step ahead of them all and bring Harriet to justice? Can she trust anyone around her? And can she possibly get away with murder? #atruthforatruth #carolwyer #dikateyoung #thomasandmercer #britishcrimefiction #policeprocedural #bookstagram #bookshelves #booknerd #readinglife #bookphotography #bookcommunity #bookblogger #sodacityreads #suspensebook #bookhaul #literarycrimefiction #homelibrary #thrillerbooks #domesticthriller #crimefiction #thriller #characterdrivenbooks #mysterythriller #bookrecs #psychologicalcrimethriller #zooloosbooktour https://www.instagram.com/p/Cq8KlferJSc/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

THREE COLD CASES ONE DETERMINED COP Someone's playing tricks on Karen at home and at work. When two cold case files about missing a girl turns up on her desk, she's fuming. When a third file arrives… she blows a fuse. Her boss demands she takes holiday leave just as Karen discovers her late father was involved in one of the cases. Now she's compelled to investigate them. Karen’s accompanied by sometime boyfriend John- but can she trust him or his friend and mapkeeper Mr Binks? She has formidable detective skills but will they work in places where old-world magic is still powerful? Karen's life is in serious danger… but from whom…. or what? This book grabbed me from the first page & didn’t let go till the last! It's a mystery book with a little bit of supernatural thrown in! I rather enjoyed the hints of dark magic! For me it just added to the dark & creepy feel of the story! I enjoyed following along as Karen tried to figure everything out! I have had the chance to read the first book in the series but really neither one of these books can stand on their own! I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for the next installment! Three Little Girls by Jane Badrock Karen Thorpe Series, Book 2 Released 11/30/2021 Amazon Link https://tinyurl.com/5n8nfzjw Meet the Author Jane writes novels, short stories and poems, usually with a good dose of humor in them. She probably owes it all to her late grandmother who, she's just found out, also wrote short stories and poems. She tends to get an idea and then run with it whether it be a 100 word short story or an 80 thousand word novel. It all depends on the voices in her head at the time… Thank you @zooloosbooktours & @janebadrock for my gifted copy & for having me on the tour! #ThreeLittleGirls #QuestionMarkPress #ZooloosBookTours #Books #booktours #BookReview #BookRecommendation #BookLover #BookNerd #Bookstagram #IGRead #IGBooks #authorofinstagram https://www.instagram.com/jacleomik33/p/CW8O0zpp0VI/?utm_medium=tumblr

More Reviews: Survival: The Covid Years
Thank you so much to @Zooloo's Book tour for organising Survival: The Covid Years 'book tour' and to her bloggers for their reviews.
Why I wrote Survival: 'The Covid Years'
I wrote the book so that I could feel better and so that I would come to understand and come to terms with what was the most difficult period of my mental and emotional disability.
For anyone living with a mental and emotional disability is difficult, living with a mental and emotional disability at a time when there is a killer disease on the loose, impossible. Although I was never in a position to change how the pandemic was being handled, being proactive and doing something to make myself feel better, eventually helped me to come to terms with the virus a little better.
The ethos behind the book
"By shedding light on her personal challenges through the pandemic, Ilana encourages the reader to explore the thoughts and feelings raised by their own pandemic journey. In this way she aims to unlock future potential for others, enabling them to move on from this enormously difficult time. A must read for anyone wanting to take positive steps after the challenges of Covid-19.”

📚BOOK REVIEW 📚
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I received an advance review #giftedgopy and am leaving this review voluntarily.
Thank you, Partner @Ilana_Estelle_Author, @RedDoorBooks, and @zooloosbooktours.
💬MY THOUGHTS💬
It's fair to say that none of us saw COVID or a global panic coming nor did we understand how long and the extent to which this would impact our lives at all levels. I've dealt with anxiety most of my adult life and like many, the pandemic sent me into a level of anxiety I hadn't known. I think the hardest part was all of the unknowns combined with a massive amount of people dying from this invisible killer.
Other reasons for my increased anxiety include my 90+ year old grandma being in an assisted living facility, my parents living halfway across the country in a state that did not lock down as much as Oregon did, and finally we unexpectedly lost my brother to a heart attack. Sadly, I wasn't able to go home for his memorial service and since it was outside it wasn't live streamed. v I say all of this to say, I enjoyed this book and can't fathom how difficult it was for the author during this time. I appreciate the author's candid tale is honest, raw, and vulnerable. In this book she documents her feelings and explains her story in a clear and concise manner. I was hooked from start to finish and found myself identifying with her in more ways than one. I highly recommend this book to all!
twilight reader
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
If you’ve read Ilana's first book then you’ll love this continuing journey by Ilana. Ilana really shows you what it was like for people during the pandemic as well as her own. Ilana not only has cerebral palsy but she also has autism. Reflecting back its eye opening to remember what it was like individually during the pandemic in terms of emotional, mental and physical needs. There’s something about reading another individual's story that makes you feel like what you encountered is almost normal and that we are not alone. It’s lovely reading how someone that suffered so immensely turned their life into positive motivations. It shows that roller coasters are meant to be ridden and hurdles are meant to be jumped over.
Ilana really hit home for me and I truly found this inspiring, motivational and heart warming. It shows you how even how the pandemic is over it can still leave challenging emotions that people continue to struggle with. You really feel yourself becoming invested into Ilana’s perspective and there is so much honesty written in the words. I’ll be honest and during the pandemic I was lucky to have my family surrounding me and it really puts into perspective how naive I was with how other people were struggling and facing individual challenges. This is a phenomenal read and truly beautifully written.
