I don’t care if it’s an OC or a canon character, and while I play a human, I don’t care if your fandom isn’t but for the love of god, why is everyone in their twenties? Give me some mid thirties or even some fourties. Hell, throw me some silver foxes. Please.

I was just picturing Darcy being confused by how easy astrophysics classes are for her, because half the time she has no clue what Jane is talking about. She finally realizes this is because Jane is the absolute top of the field and half of fully trained astrophysicists have no clue what Jane is talking about. And Darcy picked up a lot of the basics of astrophysics during her extended internship without realizing it.

i've gotta say hufflepuff for darcy. and not just because i, personally, am a hufflepuff

I have a verse/fic idea where she is a squib, so I never gave as much thought into her house as I have for almost all of my other favorite characters.

But yeah, she is very Hufflepuff. Which makes Thor one of the best rounded movies as far as house representation. Because Thor is extremely Gryffindor, Jane and Erik are so very Ravenclaw, and Loki is a Slytherin for so many more reasons than his wardrobe choices (although his aesthetic is also very Slytherin.)

I have mixed feelings about the development of Darcy getting a physics doctorate. On the one hand, I'm happy for any development that lets me see more of her on my screen.

But on the otherhand, one of the things that drew me to her originally is the fact that she wasn't STEM. There are apparently only two valid careers in the MCU: STEM fields and a nebulous place on a soldier/cop/spy continuum. The fact that Darcy was something other than those and still allowed to contribute to the story was awesome.

We already have a society that devalues anyone who doesn't work in the hard sciences. Do we have to have the same in our fictional worlds?

So I will enjoy Darcy being back on my screen, but when I write her outside of canon she will be anything other than in the hard sciences.

It’s been a trip in the best way. So many years have passed since we last saw Darcy and I’m excited for audiences to see what she’s been up to.

Darcy Lewis knew it wasn’t any of her business who Jane did or didn’t date. It wasn’t. Really. And she would keep telling herself that until she believed it. 

Only, she missed her best friend dating Thor. She missed the fact that she could head over to Jane’s apartment and half the time Thor would be sitting on the sturdy barstool at the counter, eating lunch or comparing Asgardian starcharts with Earth starcharts. And Darcy could get the rundown on what was going on with the Avengers. Not classified stuff, precisely, but stuff the general public didn’t know, either. But then Jane and Thor went their separate ways, and suddenly Darcy was very much out of the loop. Which was annoying. And she was annoyed that she was annoyed. Because it wasn't any of her business who Jane did or didn't date. 

After the events of the Convergence, Jane had pretty much all the funding she needed, including actual science assistants, and Darcy decided she had extended her internship as long as she could already, so she put in her application at SHIELD.

And, because she had the worst luck in the world, Captain America took down SHIELD three days later.

So there she was, sitting on the couch at her parents' house, watching the latest crisis on the news, knowing that there was no one she could get the real story from. She tried to cconvince herself that she was better off out of it. Every time Thor was in town she ended up getting roped in to save the day and she was safer not being caught up.

Safer. Yeah. Safer. But that didn't make her any happier being completely out of the loop.

Before the dust settled and before she could talk herself out of it, Darcy decided to apply for a job that didn't even exist. With a glowing recommendation from Jane Foster, Darcy walked into Pepper Potts' office and said that she wanted to be office manager of Avengers Tower.
