i dont understand how people can just forget how much bullying can really take a toll on someones mental health? did we just forget the fact he’d been THE MAIN target of troy ever since will’s disappearance in the first season?

like??? and then they compare the trauma the others went through with the trauma mike did. first of all, since when was trauma a competition?? they all went through different struggles and thats okay, why are you bashing this one single character because they didnt go through as much as the other characters did? ☠️ and mind you mike was fucking what. twelve? when he was risking his life for dustin.

I feel my entire body shriveling up like a dead flower every time someone utters the words “I hate Mike” because they forget what its like to be a teen in the 80s during an AIDS pandemic, struggling with your own identity because everyday your entire life its shoved down your throat that who you truly are is what everyone else hates. ^_^

anytime someone hates on mike wheeler i feel like my stomachs about to explode getting stomach acid on all my internal organs and causing me to rot from the inside out while also throwing up consistently throughout the whole ordeal until the acid finally chews through my heart and lungs causing my heart to fail and my lungs to collapse before i finally die after feeling the most extreme agony someone could possibly feel ☺️

And the quite literal heart eyes they were giving each other during the van scene was insane.

come on, guys, the show litteraly showed us that Mike Wheeler is a boy liker. they used show, not tell, and yall need to be looking more.

Van scene, yeah, we focus on Wills dialog, the painting, the stares, but what if we paid more attention to the background? Now we know they spent a whole day filming this scene to get it perfect, the lighting, the angles, the lines, everything. all the lighting and shadows were artificially made, placed there on purpose to make the scene show you more than it was saying.

Surfer boys van, behind Mike wheeler throughout this whole scene, the 'boys' red writing is always behind him when the camera is directly in front of him. Then, when the camera is angled to him, we see shadows. The shadow of the 'boys' writing is nearly always beside him throughout the whole scene. I don't think we ever see the word 'surfers' shadowed behind him, but if we do, it's always accompanied by 'boys/boy' and never on its own like boys/boy is. we know that this scene is a indirect coming out from Will, he's using his emotions but Els name to say how he feels, this is really the first time it's shoved in the audiences face like this, but the 'boys' is never behind him at all. Will is the tell. He's telling the audience/Mike how he feels, while Mike is the show. the background shows the audience how he feels.

and all of this is accompanied by when he was looking for someone to take Lucas's place in D&D that in the science room the background has the phrase "women in science" written pretty big behind him and a literal flame Bursts in front of him.

this is also done in the same montage were we see a Mike POV shot in the wrestlers room and he's looking at the two boys wrestling and they literally have Bowl cuts like Will.

this is all without pointing out the 'one way' sign pointing into his closet or the rainbows associated with him or even how the triangle on his jacket he wears throughout most of s4 is nearly always pointing at Will, he will literally move around a whole room just so that the triangle is pointing at him, and that's without taking into regard how the costume designer put triangles on Robin's clothing to signify her being Queer.

Mike Wheelers' identity is shown, not told.

im actually gonna start crying.

I just realized something so sweet and personal about Will's painting.

Their DnD characters don't look like that. We saw him draw them plenty in season 1. Will the Wise has a long beard and Mike's character I think has straight blond hair.

Will didn't just draw their characters per usual, he drew them as their characters. He's drawn Mike's knight character a hundred times. But he's never drawn Mike as a knight. He was understanding that Mike's character is a projection of who he aims to be, like all of them, so he drew MIke as the knight this time. For the first time.

That's what this smile is. Mike has played a hero for years. But he's never been one. He saw a dragon and probably expected his character, overjoyed with more of Will's familiar art, but instead, he was met with a glorious knight in shining armor with black, wavy hair. He was the hero this time. *(you can even see his facial expression change from happy excitement to this broad smile)

In season 1, Mike initiates the search party because of Will's heroics in DnD meaning that he would do it for them. He acknowledges that Will's actions in character are still his own. This is the same. This is Will saying "To play a hero, you have to be one yourself. And you are. I see through your character disguise. I see you. This is just the hero you've always been without the mask."

THAT is why it's different. THAT is why it's so much more personal than all the others, not just the heart, MIKE. THAT is why it hurts so bad (Will too but I'm referring to me/us).

I've said in a previous post that it wasn't about the heart, the heart was kind of for us, it was more-so about the heroism. And that's exactly what I standby. The heart isn't the only new thing about this painting. The hero has never actually been Mike before. And Will responded "Yes it has been. It always has been."
