Cloth vs disposable, the pros and cons of each
For some mums there is never a question about what they will use nappy wise, most just use disposable nappies and never question it, for others cloth is the only way to go, and then there are the mums who just don’t know!
When I was pregnant I laughed at the very idea of using cloth nappies, too much work I thought, and so expensive! But I also hated the idea of disposables as they are so bad for…

From cloth to the dreaded disposable....why I went back
From cloth to the dreaded disposable….why I went back
Anyone who reads my blog will know how much I love cloth nappies, you could even say it’s an obsession! however the sad time has come where I have to admit that they are not the best option for my son.
We recently went on a short break and so had to use disposable nappies as there were no washing facilities. I absolutely hate disposable nappies but it’s just easier on holiday. I had suspected…

I don't know who I am anymore
I don’t know who I am anymore
This may sound weird, or it may sound all too familiar, but I don’t know who I am now I’m a mum. As my son comes up to 9 months old I’ve started thinking about doing things just for me again, and you know what? I can’t think of a single thing to do!
As I’m a stay at home mum my husband gives me what I like to call a “spending purse”. If I need or want something he will buy it for me if funds…

Things I wish I had only about cloth nappies from the start
Everything in life is a learning experience, and using cloth nappies is no different. I did loads of research before starting my journey, but research is nothing compared to experience. So today I will go through what I’ve learnt in my cloth nappy journey so far, and maybe it will help others make the choice about using them.
When I started my cloth nappy journey I bought pocket nappies. I…

Homeschool, unschool, state school or private?
My son is a long way off school age yet, but already how I want to educate him is on my mind. Everyone I know has sent, or plans to send, their kids to school, either state or private. I always thought before I had kids that I would send them to private school (if we could afford it), but since having my son I have changed my mind.
Here in the UK you do hot have to send your kids to school, you…

Things that freaked me out during pregnancy.
Being pregnant is strange, on the one hand it’s exciting and amazing, on the other hand it’s scary and sometimes down right weird! So today’s post is about the stuff that freaked me out about being pregnant!
Leaky nipples!
It seems stupid now to get freaked out by leaky nipples, it was so normal once my baby was born, but when I was around 20 weeks pregnant I was so freaked out I sat and cried!…

The pregnancy of fear and despair on the NHS
I must start this post by saying that I think the NHS do a marvelous job, if it wasn’t for the wonderful staff and the great service  my Father, Husband and Son wouldn’t be alive today. However, sometimes the staff and equipment are not of a standard that they should be, and this is what that post is about.
Like all pregnant women I was excited to have my 12 week scan and finally see my baby for…

Ridiculously cheap cloth nappies, false economy or genius idea?
I have a lot of cloth nappies, you could say I have an obsession! If I see one I like I have to buy it, especially if it’s from a brand I have that works well. The most expensive nappy I have  was £17, and the cheapest was 99p (including postage!), yes, you read that right, 99p!
So, where did I get this ridiculously cheap nappy and is it any good? Ebay of course! And of course from China. As for…

 pregnancy symptoms
Everyone knows the classic pregnancy symptoms like sore boobs and nausea, but what about other symptoms that are not often mentioned?
Today I thought I’d share my early pregnancy symptoms (if I can remember them all!)
Mild cramps. These were very like period cramps but very light, and I had them for about a week before my positive test.
Extreme thirst! For a week before my test (and a month or…

Baby sleep solutions
Imagine if I told you to stop whatever your doing and go to bed right now, and I don’t just mean get in bed, I mean fall asleep this instant. You can’t get up until I say so, and you certainly can’t wake up to go to the toilet or get a drink if your thirsty. If you have a nightmare or wake up and think something is in the room then you can’t cry out or ask me to give you a hug to make you feel…

Life before baby...what I miss most
Life before baby…what I miss most
Motherhood is amazing, and I don’t think I’ve ever been happier. I know that sounds like a cliche but it’s true. However life has definitely changed dramatically since my son came along and there are some things about life pre baby that I really miss. So here we go, in no particular order, the top things I miss most about life before motherhood.
Time with my husband. Now there is a baby to care…

A month of waste reduction.....tougher than I thought!
A month of waste reduction…..tougher than I thought!
So, just over a month ago we decided to try and be more eco friendly and try and reduce waste. I thought this would be pretty easy, and in a way it was, however in another way it’s been tough and we have lapsed quite a bit!
Compost
We have a compost bin in our garden, left by the previous tenants, so we decided to use it. We diligently put all our compostable waste into a bucket and…….well, moat…

Why do some mothers refuse formula?
When my son was born he was in hospital for a week in scbu. During his time there he was given both expressed breast milk and formula, both given via a tube. Near the end of his stay I finally got to put him to the breast.
He was very unwell and needed as much nutrition as he could get, so the nurses asked if they could give him formula as the normal amount of first milk wouldn’t be enough, so I…

Cushie Tushies Cloth Nappy Review
Cushie Tushies Cloth Nappy Review
Today I will be reviewing the Cushie Tushies Cloth Nappy.
I went for this particular nappy because I loved the cute designs. The one I have is blue minky outer shell with little ducks on it.
The design is a little unusual compared to my other nappies. It has a snap in insert which is an unusual shape, which I’m guessing is to help with containment, and then there is another smaller insert which…

Feeding your baby is offensive no matter how you do it!
OK, so the title of this post may be a little extreme, bit it seems to me that it doesn’t matter if you feed your baby from the breast or the bottle, someone is going to be offended and say your wrong.
I’ve seen so many mums on social media saying that they have been given dirty looks or had nasty comments made to them when feeding their baby in public, and it happens to both bottle feeding and…

Bambooty Basics Cloth Nappy Review
I have a big collection of cloth nappies now, and have bought many different brands and types. They all have worked well for my son so far. Today I will review Bambooty Basics.
These cute nappies come in a range of colours and prints, my favourites being the pineapple and apple prints as they are so bright and cheerful.
They are made of a minky outer shell and an insert which poppers inside. They…
