lol at the salty men on Twitter complaining about Kristen Stewart’s Rolling Stone cover… my dudes. MY DUDES. You may think it’s ugly or whatever, but I promise you there’s about a 1 in 3 chance your female significant other (assuming one settled for you) needed a maxipad after seeing that shoot.

I don’t think “dumpster baby” sees enough use as an insult. Henceforth I will be using the term to anyone whose politics are clearly just weapon used abandon issues. First person I used it on was a tankie. I wonder if I’ll wind up using it more to describe unhinged leftists or the right in general.

So tired of the moralizing, simplistic bullshit that people have been passing off as leftism since the 1960s. Leftism should be about community. It should be thoughtful and empathetic, not preachy and reactionary. And it defini should t be as abjectly fatalistic as it is; even back in the 60s, I don’t think the fatalism was this pervasive.
I saw someone a while back point out that a lot of “leftism” is just anticapitalist libertarianism. It certainly seems to me like a lot of young leftists think justice can be achieved by ripping up the social contract and robbing those they deem to be the bad guys blind.

So… Travis might be real, might be pr. If it’s a real relationship, then she’s bi. She ain’t straight. Can we be okay with this if it turns out to be real?

Are we still doing the “Billie Eilish is straight” thing? She’s been low-key out for at least two years.

Are people seriously speculating about a “Lover (Taylor’s Version)”?
That would be astonishingly pointless…

Question… does anyone know what the deadline was for sending 1989TV packaging to the printers? I have a thought about the timing of the Prologue.

And just like that we get “Suburban Legends”, which, um, Swiftgron much? Indeed, Swiftgron *very* much.
The vault tracks don’t have the same level of queer coding that the original tracks do, but “Suburban Legends” sure looks like a kiss-off to Dianna. I can see why Taylor didn’t put it on the album — it’s a little harsh. I’m going to guess it was between this and “Style” originally, and “Style” didn’t have the undercurrent of anger that “Suburban” does.
Consider it a consolation prize for the messy Prologue situation.

K, first off, hetlors (and the Daily Mail), fuck off.
Second: Taylor has made it pretty obvious she’s not straight. Is she gay or bi? No idea. But the 1989 TV Prologue didn’t “end Gaylors”. It didn’t even end Kaylors really. I’ll get to that in a moment.
Third: where was I when the Gaylor fandom was overrun with immature morons?
So here’s some points to consider.
1. First off, Taylor Swift is a human being. Moreover, she is a human being who has shown herself to be deeply insecure (and very aware of it). To her neurodivergent fans, it looks very much like she’s one of us. She is someone who is clearly just about able to shoulder the burden of fame, but has trouble going past that. She isn’t comfortable being a spokesperson for anything except her music.
2. Much as we wish otherwise, she doesn’t owe us performative queerness. We have to accept that she’s still doing subtext only, and probably for very good reasons.
3. The evidence isn’t limited to a couple of incidents. She’s outed herself on multiple occasions. Her friends and colleagues have done so. Celebrity press with reputations on the line have done so. When someone tells you who they are…
4. Hetlors are part of the most unhinged part of her fandom, which is beyond her control.
5. If the Daily Mail is saying the Prologue ended Gaylors, well, it’s the fucking Daily Mail.
6. I take no current position on the Travis Kelce situation. Maybe it’s real, maybe it’s not. If it is, she’s bi.
7. Taylor explicitly coming out would out others. Those others may not want to be outed.
Gender and sexuality are complex issues for many people. For someone who lives as much in the public eye as Taylor Swift, it’s just not as easy as saying “yes I’m queer”. I beg all of you to have some perspective on all of this — I get the disappointment, but it’s still her life.

So, long story short:
Taylor is out as queer. After the GLAAD IG picture stack, you can’t argue that she isn’t. The implication of her being the only “straight” person in a spread of out queer people is clear. Hetlors need to take several seats.
However, in doing it so low-key, it’s clear she’s also chosen the “no labels” route a la Harry Styles; we know Harry isn’t straight, but he’s not going to be specific about it. (Given that there’s no obvious reason to question his former relationship with Olivia Wilde, I’d go with bi or pan, but…)
Whatever is or isn’t going on with Travis Kelce (it didn’t look like a date to me; they could be getting acquainted as friends), it’s clear that Taylor is fine with being known as queer, but is not ready to spell it out. Which is fair; given what she’s shown of her personality to the world, it’s entirely understandable that she might be afraid to get too specific. Maybe she is gay. Maybe she’s some shade of bi. At the end of the day, the only thing that matters is that it’s time to admit that she’s not The Straightest Woman In The World by any stretch of the imagination.

Seen on Reddit: “It’s to the point where if I see a Taylor Swift fan who’s a lesbian, I just assume they’re a Gaylor.”
Class, let’s talk about pattern recognition…

So this is for the people accusing Taylor Swift of being performatively progressive. It is not *necessarily* a defense of her actions or lack thereof of late, but I think that as a neuroatypical myself, this comes from my own experiences.
Someone pointed out recently that there’s a significant aspect of gamification to her fandom, and yeah, I see it. Everything from Eye Theory to the clock covers for the Midnights vinyl to her well-known fondness for Easter eggs speaks to this, and I think this is deliberate, but not quite for the purely capitalist reasons people think. I think it’s as much of a game for Taylor as it is for her fans.
And while she’s unquestionably one of the smartest people in the music business (same league as, who, Rihanna? Dylan? Donald Fagen? Weird Al?), she also seems very selective about what she applies those smarts to. She’s rumored to be quite shy away from the public. She’s also known to be a people pleaser, and that’s something that sometimes leads people to make less than great decisions about when to speak up about something. This is the personal aspect for me, because I can be the same way — as a confirmed spoonie of the emotionally underendowed type, I’ve definitely had too many moments where I should have spoken up but didn’t.
People run hot and cold about her, especially regarding the recent anti-trans backlash and the Matty Healy situation. (Which can be explained by him being a longtime friend and therefore her being unwilling to confront his shittiness, which is overstated but real.) From where I sit, her sitting out in political matters at the moment can be explained, as someone pointed out, by the real possibility that if she’s too overtly pro-LGBT+ the way she was in the Lover era, that her concerts could become targets for right wing terrorists; I hope this means that she’ll start stepping up after the tour is over and as the 2024 election draws closer, so I’ll give her a pass *for now.*
I’ve operated under the assumption for quite some time that Taylor is likely on the spectrum, capable of masking for public performances but with very limited emotional capital leftover when she turns it off. I think that’s what she was getting at in “Sweet Nothing” when she says
Industry disruptors and soul deconstructors
And smooth-talking hucksters out glad-handing each other
And the voices that implore, "You should be doing more"
To you, I can admit that I'm just too soft for all of it
If she is in fact neurodivergent, something that seems pretty obvious to me as a neurodivergent myself, she’s in the position of being a once-in-a-generation legend who can just about bear the stress but can’t do much more than she already is because she doesn’t have the spoons. We all know where she stands, and given her past track record I suspect she’s probably involved in some amount of low-key activism that we aren’t hearing about. I think we should back off the scrutiny until after the tour is over.

So I saw your post on Strange Aeons, and I’m afraid I have some bad news for you. That clown was indeed a hybrid, but it was a carnival geek. Those poor wretches are the genetic disasters that result from the crossbreeding of a male wild Fool and a female circus clown (usually a feral, because geeks are usually euthanized when born in captivity). It sounds like the one you saw was one of the better behaved ones, probably taken in and socialized at a young age, but geeks generally have a need for attention that they satisfy via self-harm and other shocking acts.
There’s a handful of clown wranglers who specialize in dealing with geeks, but most people in the trade simply aren’t equipped to handle them. The bandaid and crap beer expenses alone can be ruinous.
Good news clown husbandry tumblr! I have reason to believe that the Court Jester is not, in fact, extinct!
I was at my state fair when I encountered a show preformed by a male clown, I originally believed he was a comedian, but upon further inspection of his performance, which was mostly physical humor (including having members of the audience throw things at him), I began to suspect that he may actually have been a Jester/Circus Clown hybrid! (I suspect Circus Clown heritage due to the fact that he had a large unicycle. I did not get close enough to see his plumage clearly, although it appeared rather drab-part of what originally led me to my original judgment of comedian-I believe that he may have adopted a less flamboyant color palate in order to blend in with the radio cowboys).
In addition, I have long believed that many Court Jesters actually appear in Renaissance Faires solitarily or in small troupes. While many believe that the Court Jester died out due to habitat loss, Renaissance Faires seem to be a suitable reconstruction, even having ‘royal courts’ for them to perform for. When I previously have brought this up with my friends, they suggested that these could be Circus Clown/Porcelain Jester hybrids trained to act like Court Jesters. However, given this new evidence, I feel confident in stating that the widely accepted claim that Court Jesters are extinct seems to be false.
