I’ll Tend to the Flames; You Can Worship the Ashes by Froggies (Froggiest)
fandom: Our Flag Means Death
my gushing: I laughed, I cried, I was in much emotional pain while trying to get ready to be in physical pain after surgery. More fix-it angst to help me get through that season finale please. The emotions in this one, all the hurt from Ed, the grief throughout! And Jim coming in to be the badass they are!!
author’s summary: Blackbeard has come to terms with the loss of Stede Bonnet. He has. The legendary Blackbeard does not mourn, he does not grieve, and he certainly, most of all, does not miss the man who abandoned him. These are all facts that he has come to terms with.
And then a dinghy rows up to the ship, turning his reality upside down yet again.
my summary: Ed is dead. And now, Blackbeard hears news of Stede’s death. It shouldn’t hurt. He’s already come to terms with the fact that Stede abandoned him, so there is nothing left for him to morn. And yet he still grieves.

tell a sinner from a saint by marquis
fandom: Our Flag Means Death
my gushing: I’m a mess because of this show and this fic is my first step to healing. All we need is a good bit of fuckery and the crew being a family. Everything is fine, I’m totally fine.
author’s summary: Stede waits until he can hear the loud stomps of strangers coming down the steps to the lower decks. Then he opens the tiny metal door in the wall and leans forward to press his mouth to the circular opening.
“Who dares,” he coos, drawing out the vowels, “disturb my slumber?”
Someone shouts. Others follow. The noises all carry and echo throughout the ship without an identifiable source and distort until they’re unrecognizable, wordless howls in the walls.
“Get out!” Stede shouts. “Get out while you still can!”
And then Black Pete begins to giggle, so Stede has to replace the cover and halt the operation entirely. “Really, Pete,” he hisses, “please be professional.”
(A post-season one fix it, sort of, where Stede becomes the pirate captain he was always meant to be and Blackbeard isn't fond of having a rival.)
my summary: Stede and the crew have made a name for themselves as a ghost ship, a facade created to attract the attention of a certain captain. Blackbeard, heartbroken and angry, doesn’t want to believe it.

like wild swans by flowerstorm (with a podfic read by lysandyra)
fandom: 방탄소년단 | BTS
my gushing: Stories with fairy tale/fantasy elements in them are so so much fun and I absolutely love them. Plus, you have to love baby Yeonjun. There’s just no way you can’t. And y’all know me, I would love a story without some good angst thrown in there >:) (it’s really not the most angsty though, it has so much fluff compared to some of the other fics I’ve told y’all to read).
author’s summary: the moon kissed them with her silver beams and from their skin a rich coat sprouted. black and white feathers, wings as delicate and strong as their human limbs. she gave them elegant necks to intertwine and a prophecy to shoulder. that they’d be bound to one another for eternity. that they’d be prisoners of the lake and their new forms every night except one, a full moon each month on which they’d be allowed to meet and embrace as they once had.
that the curse would only be broken when they fell in love with someone else.
it would never happen.
my summary: Jungkook and Jimin are cursed to live eternally as swans until they fall in love with someone else, but they could never not love each other. Then, out of the blue, Taehyung starts showing up. Taehyung who knows about the spell and who talks with and understands them. Taehyung who desperately wants to run away; Taehyung who wants to run away with them.

gotta say, probably the most problematic (tho admittedly hilarious) way to make your friend ask out their crush is to (1) kidnap both your friend and their crush (2) tie up your friend and put a “yes or no???” sticky note on their forehead and finally (3) lock them in a car until they talk

The House on the Hyeongsan by missberrycake (with a podfic read by singinginmay)
fandom: 방탄소년단 | BTS
my gushing: It’s a full on novel! Look, I love a good murder mystery, and I love the Kim line brothers vibes, it all just makes me so happy. Any good story (imo) had to do with family (found, blood, or both), and this one has it all.
author’s summary: That beautiful family, that large house with its blooming garden, that overbearing father. They couldn’t be as sweet and innocent as they first seemed. Something sordid lay beneath the surface, it must do. Yoongi would root it out, bring it to the fore.
With the summer stretched out before him, Kim Taehyung is ready to cast off the blanket of childhood. But the arrival of stranger Min Yoongi throws the Kim family’s world into disarray. By the time the season draws to a close around them, they suffer a tragedy so great that the scars last a lifetime.
Sixty years later, after dropping the ball on an important case, Detective Jung Hoseok is forced to lick his wounds on a management-mandated retreat in Gyeongju. It isn’t long before he discovers an abandoned house by the river; tired, lonely, and ready to reveal its secrets. Starting with a murder.
my summary: In the 1930s, Min Yoongi stays with the Kim family for the summer. Everything changes unexpectedly over night. In the 1990s, Jung Hoseok is forced to take his leave in the town near the Kim’s estate. Once he uncovers the mystery, there’s no turning back for him.

It Happened Quiet by hobimo (with a podfic by singinginmay)
fandom: 방탄소년단 | BTS
my gushing: Creepy. God, it’s so so creepy. The world building is incredible. I always make the mistake of listening (relistening) to the podfic at night. But it’s worth it. Also, the voice of the fic is so perfect. Like, the way the writing itself talks, if that makes sense, comes out perfectly.
author’s summary: There’s something in the woods.
“Yoongi.”
Something between the trees.
“Yoongi.”
There’s someone in the woods.
“Yoongi!”
my summary: Nothing makes it out of the woods. Nothing survives the woods except for them. Nothing except for Yoongi, somehow. It’s been over ten years, and he still sees them at the edges of the woods. Someday, they’ll come for him. Nothing makes it out of the woods. Then, something does.

Things I want to see in F4 Thailand (that’ll never happen)
Thyme (and the rest of F4 tbh) going to therapy to sort their shit out
Gorya and Lita running away together (they’d work so much better as a main couple than Gorya and Thyme, change my mind)
Kavin listening to Scrubb out of the blue (alternatively: Thyme listening to Scrubb or the two of them listening to the band together. I’m a simple person with simple needs)
Flower shop trio talking about flower languages (have they done this? This actually seems like something they’d do in canon but I don’t remember them explicitly talking about it so I’m leaving it in my list)
Similarly to 3, Thyme listening to Desktop Error (look they’re a really good band and GMM would be lying if they said they didn’t think a large number of people watching/following F4 hadn’t seen 2gether)

A Jar of Hearts by pulsefire
fandom: TOMORROW X TOGETHER
my gushing: So beautifully done. I laughed, I cried, I sobbed, and I cried again. To be completely honest, this story really did change how I see a lot of the world and my surroundings. It may sound weird (it’s just a fic, a random story created because someone thought of a really could world idea), but it changed me as a person.
author’s summary: A world where you’re born with five luminous hearts on the inside of your wrist. When you get your heart broken in any way, one of the hearts loses their colour and fades. Once all five have dimmed, it’s said that you can never fall in love again.
Enter Choi Beomgyu; a music major with only one heart left, barely hanging on a thin thread. He pledged to himself that he wouldn’t find love again to save him from the curse.
That changes the day Kang Taehyun joins the picture with five complete hearts, taunting Beomgyu. Out of spite, Beomgyu bets with his friend that he can break at least one of Taehyun’s hearts. What’s one heart less?
What he didn’t expect was to possibly fall in love in the process, leading to his demise.
my summary: Against his Soobin’s insistence, Beomgyu is determined to break one of Taehyun’s hearts. He knows from experience that all people with five hearts are the same, so this new guy can’t be any different. And, once they’ve become pseudo friends, he’s still just doing it all for the bet, right?

The Songbird and the Sea by maia_archives
fandom: 방탄소년단 | BTS
my gushing: Remember those posts where I was like “oh this is on of the my Top Three Fics™️”? Yeah, this one completely blows all that out of the water. It’s got absolutely everything I love smooshed into one story, and it’s perfect. I should warn you that only the first book is a fic and only the first book is on Ao3, the rest of the series is written as the to-be-published version on Patreon. Anyway, everyone needs to read this because I experienced way too many emotions all at once.
author’s summary: In a world where dominance of the sea is an endless battle between pirates and mariners, Park Jimin is content living in his little village on a small, uninteresting island by the eastern mainland. He wants nothing to do with the bloodshed of good and evil, the heartless killing of both innocents and condemned, the constant establishment and disruption of order. What he wants is peace, to live his life in the same town he was born in, to spend his days in the beautiful forest, and to use the powers of his Blessed Rune to nurture the home he loves so dearly.
But when his island is attacked by pirates, Jimin will have no other choice than to do as they command and leave all thoughts of peace behind in favor of boarding the Agust, a pirate ship captained by the infamous Min Yoongi, Black Fox of the East.
my summary: Whilst being attacked by pirates, the town of Jeju, or rather it’s leaders, decide that sacrificing the most valuable thing on the island is better than the village being destroyed. Too bad for Jimin that the most valuable things happens to be a part of him: the Rune of the Canary. Now, he has to leave the only home he’s ever known to be under the command of the most feared pirate and crew in the East.
