We left our homes in search of a safe place and we were displaced three times to different places to survive, but unfortunately there's no safe place in Gaza. When we shot the subway scene, I for the most part just played Luke in the hood, and [Marcos Siega] came over to me when we were about to do the close up on Mark stabbing one of the victims on the subway, and—no one, the audience doesn’t know who’s who. You can probably guess after, you know, after watching it. But he said “Do you want to come over here and do this as Mark?” Because Mark doesn’t, he doesn’t have the bloodlust or the need, or the—  Scott Reynolds: The glee, I would say. Sam: The glee of taking life. It actually, physical contact for him, and that’s why even in Mandy, when we killed Mandy, like he’s got a wine bottle in his hand. He didn’t use his fists. Luke used his fists, cause he’s got that in him. He’s got a rage. He’s got a, um— Valorie: Well, he takes pleasure in it. Sam: He takes pleasure in it. He’s got a viciousness. He enjoys—he’d be the type of guy that would, you know, like, a spider’d be on the floor and he’d get the magnifying glass, and he’d like, he’d burn the crap out of it. Mark would just watch the, watch the spider keep crawling, keep crawling until it kind of, you know, couldn’t go any further.  Scott: With like a childlike wonder. Sam: Childlike wonder, yeah, rather than childlike cruelty. So I think Mark has, there’s so many dire[ctions]— I’m so fascinated to see what they end up doing with Mark. Um, and who he ends up interacting with, because I think he’s got the furthest to go.
