Azriel was locked in his father’s dungeons as a child. He couldn’t fly or fight. He was denied the ability to do most anything Illyrians have to do.
But he stuck through it. Just like you will. Keeping pushing through, even if your shadows threaten to consume you; they might just end up being your friend.
I said to Lucien, low and quiet and as vicious as the wonderous weight between my shoulder blades, “When you spend so long trapped in darkness, Lucien, you find that the darkness begins to stare back.”
One of my favorite scenes in the entire series.
If you like my art then do me a HUGE favor and check out my webcomic, JAX, especially if you liked the Throne of Glass series (a few people tell me it reminds them of the books). Read it and let me know what you think!
So I just found out about this Slavic folklore about a firebird. I thought she was to be more akin to an Asian Phoenix and that could still be a likely scenario. But the folklore is very similar to vassa story in acotar like in one version the tsar covets the bird for himself like the old-death lord who cursed and enslaved her. And in another version, the Firebird represents a warning against greed and vanity like how the human queens sold her out because they wanted to become immortal and reign forever. I thought this was interesting and I would like to hear others opinions on it.
