A quick take on protection

Protective magick is a nearly a necessity when it comes to furthering your craft and broadening your horizons. Protective and defensive magick ensures that you are shielded from negative forces, energies, and entities, and properly prepared to make advancements in your practice.

It’s important that in more difficult and advanced practices or routines you are properly protected, otherwise it can be dangerous.

Protection spells can be cast on people, spaces, areas, and objects, it’s a limitless subject. There are multiple ways to protect yourself as well, not just spells: keeping protective herbs or crystals on you, using herb smoke, cooking with herbs, meditation and visualization, sigils, etc.

As a starting practice, meditating and visualizing is one of the best things to do! Starting out, it’s best to do it at least once a day, it only takes about five minutes.

What I do, is get myself into a meditative state, and make sure that I am grounded. And visualize a white light surrounding me and cleansing me from any negative energy, and then visualize or feel or affirm some sort of protective barrier around me (shielding) you can imagine it as one of the elements (water, fire, earth materials like vines, etc.) or even a bubble around you, make sure you’re clear on what you’re protecting yourself from when shielding yourself.

Protective crystals:

Black Tourmaline (shields you from negative energies around you)

Black Obsidian (shields you from other’s negative intent, and reflects it back to the sender)

Smoky Quartz (provides protection, leaving you undisturbed)

Amethyst (raises clear boundaries, brings a sense of authority and psychic protection)

Protective Herbs:

Anise

Rosemary

Acorns

Cinnamon

Garlic

Basil
