and then, of course, the master himself, brosenthal, playing frankly 80% of the cast, but ESPECIALLY in this one scene. ONE SCENE:

“oh but joey left the scene for some of the quick changes in tto, he can’t do that if the spankoffski bros are supposed are supposed to have a conversation” FINE, the other option: just play two characters at once. which starkid has done before.

Paul Matthews: Walter

i see your 'Paul should be the only human' and i respect it, because Jon acting against a muppet cast would be so fun, but just look at Walter man. look at his Just Some Guy energy. his suit. his autistic swag. that's a Paul if i've ever seen one. also Man or Muppet has the same vibes as Let it Out.

Emma Perkins: Lauren Lopez

Emma's our token human, because apart from her cameo in the opening song, she's the only character who doesn't sing! even Paul gets a solo at the end, but Emma remains uninfected and un-muppeted, at least onstage. Lauren would also absolutely be great acting against the muppets. also the mental image of tiny muppet Paul yanking human Emma around the stage in Inevitable is incredible

Ted Spankoffski: Rizzo the Rat

Ted just has big rat energy gang. i say this with so much love. Rizzo is also a bit of a sleaze and a coward, and is absolutely the kind of guy who has a bad Borat impression up his sleeve. they're also both narrative punching bags, with Rizzo getting slapsticked in every other scene and Ted going through The Time Horrors in every timeline

Bill Woodward: Fozzie Bear

Fozzie just has that Dad Energy, you know? he's lame but he tries, he's got a big heart, he makes bad jokes. just big lame-dad-trying-to-be-cool vibes all around, and that's exactly the vibe Bill has

Charlotte Sweetly: Denise

okay i don't have as much of a justification for this casting, but the vibes are right. it also works with Sam's casting:

Henry Hidgens: Bunsen Honeydew

I really like we get to actually hear Nick read the narration/stage directions in nightmare time because the way it always usually cuts to him grinning at the end always reminds me of how after the twilight zone has some of the most brilliant commentary you’ve ever seen, the camera will turn and rod serling will say something that can be summarized as “damn wouldn’t that be fucked up in real life? hi I’m rod serling”

paulkins really is perfect bisexual representation because from the outside they seem like the most normal couple on earth but separate them and one evolves into a crotchety lesbian pot farmer and the other becomes a full time submissive catboy. also the world usually ends before they ever get the chance to truly understand their love for each other. also in the one timeline where they make it past the awkward flirting stage and get married, their love is only able to flourish when they themselves are the earth-shattering twist, revealing to each other just how abnormal they are, and how perfect they fit in each other’s arms. did i mention the catboy thing
