2023 has been, without a doubt, the most depressing, dire, enraging year for the internet. youtube is blocking adblockers. twitter is a racist homophobic NFT bro incel's paradise. tumblr is shoving their dumbass live service in our faces (yet it's still the most habitable social media right now). reddit had that whole API disaster thing. instagram killed hashtags and now it's basically impossible to grow an account on there...and horrific everything-phobic comments are allowed, and if you report them or call them out, YOU'RE the one who gets banned.
at the beginning of 2023, most of these websites were still themselves for the most part, but for some reason it was this year when they all decided to burst into flames. the internet is literally uninhabitable. we live in a world that's suffering from inflation, where the average neurodivergent youtube junkie like me isn't able to afford 15 dollars a month to remove ads. there are too many streaming services. everything is too much. it's too overstimulating.
israeli activists demand a ceasefire and netanyahu's resignation outside the military headquarters in tel aviv.
on saturday 28th october, crowds gathered both in tel aviv and outside prime minister benjamin netanyahu's home in caesarea, calling for an end to the attacks on gaza.
palestinians refuse to lose hope, and you need to do the same. it is very difficult to not spiral into despair when it feels like all you can do is watch this unfold on social media but you can't let that happen. you cannot let yourself become numb and exhausted and indifferent. stay furious and stay devastated. hold onto your grief and let it give you the power to keep pushing. to keep protesting, boycotting, calling your state representatives and congress members if you live in the us - you have to stay emotional. israel and the us want to bully you into numbness and despair because that's the key to getting away with this. either get your citizens to accept your propaganda as gospel truth or make them give up the fight.
apathy and doom-spirals only aid in israel and the us's genocide of palestine. you have to keep hoping and you have to keep believing that yes if you try hard enough you can contribute to making a difference. don't look away, and don't give up either, okay? 🇵🇸💗
I don't know how many of you know this but Gaza's population is around 2 million people and about 80% are refugees. 1.7 million refugees. These people are descendants of Nakba survivors who were forced out of their original villages in what is now ""Israeli territory"". So Israel is not only carpet bombing a strip of land they caged 2 million people in but is massacring a population that is 50% children and 80% refugees.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health released a full report with names, ages and IDs of those who were killed – maybe at least in part as a fuck you to Western media and the US president who suddenly cast doubt on the number of fatalities. Over 7000 people died. Whole families wiped out forever. It's beyond comprehension. May their memory be eternal.
