The idea that the series will end with all quirks being eliminated? All I know is one of my friends said it was probably going to happen, I have no idea if it has a greater reach than that.
God I hope quirks don’t just get erased. Get rid of OFA and AFO, but don’t just rip something away that so many people consider to be a part of themselves without their consent.
Hell, can you imagine Tokoyami losing Dark Shadow?
I have to wonder what removing quirks would even look like for people with heteromorphic quirks like Tokoyami or Tsu or Mina or my own OC, Izumi (she has gills, scales and fins)
Like do they just get turned into "normal" humans? And for people like Tsu and Izumi whose quirks are something that has been a part of them probably their entire lives, they'd have to relearn how to use their bodies.
I hate the idea.

I'd like to make an addition to this statement, having thought about it a little more.
The series discusses something called "Quirk Singularity," a theory which suggests that as the generations move forward and quirks get more and more powerful, there will come a point where people can't control their powers anymore, and will destroy the world, or whatever. This is an idea put forth by one of the show's major villains, but that doesn't necessarily mean that it's bullshit; MHA is, in my opinion, a series about the ways in which society is broken, and the way that bad actors recognize the problems but put forward even worse solutions. That's fine.
Say we take this argument at face value, that quirks are getting stronger, overall. There's some anecdotal evidence to support it, at least. But that is no indication of a trend that will continue indefinitely. As humans developed greater volume of food production and accessibility, average height went up several inches. That's why any skeleton you find from a couple hundred years ago is usually shorter than modern humans. But that's not a trend that kept going, it hit a plateau.
Now, quirks are genetic factors, not environmental, so maybe that's an unfair comparison. But the point is, just because something is happening doesn't mean you can presume it will continue to happen. I think it's much more likely that they will tend toward a natural threshold in the same way, and even if we haven't reached that point yet, we will soon.
The other thing I'd like to point out is, to repeat something else I said, "MHA is, in my opinion, a series about the ways in which society is broken, and the way that bad actors recognize the problems but put forward even worse solutions." The fact that this problem exists, if it does, isn't an indication that we should remove quirks. That's essentially just what All For One wants anyway, a world where he can play God and decide who gets what powers. When I hear that children's quirks are getting stronger, my first thought goes to the system, and how it has no structure in place at all to help kids manage their powers. They register kids, they write down what powers they have, and then they say, "Now never use them, because it's illegal." Other than schoolyard fights and maybe some private experimentation, going to a heroics high school like UA is the first chance most kids get to really figure their powers out. That's why there are dunces like Kaminari and Ashido, who had basically no idea how to use their powers safely when they arrived.
Now, imagine if we had more resources devoted to teaching little kindergarteners how to control their godlike powers. That, at least in my view, is a much more sensible and less extreme solution.
God I hope quirks don’t just get erased. Get rid of OFA and AFO, but don’t just rip something away that so many people consider to be a part of themselves without their consent.

Yes, when AFO rips a quirk out of a heteromorph, they become "normal." We already see that removing quirks can cause catatonia in people like Ragdoll, whose appearance didn't change at all. If a person like Tokoyami had their quirk ripped out, I wouldn't be surprised if it took him longer to wake up, if he ever did at all.
God I hope quirks don’t just get erased. Get rid of OFA and AFO, but don’t just rip something away that so many people consider to be a part of themselves without their consent.

Man: *Exists*
Fans: "At least he's doing his best."
Woman: *Exists*
Fans: "SHE'S THE WORST!"
I...just don't get people who keep defending Tai when the literal text of the story tells us that he fucked up and that at minimum his eldest daughter is disappointed in him.
He's not a hero that is going to come swooping in at the last minute. That's not remotely what the story is setting up.

Exactly. I hope MHA doesn't go that way. The only difference between those with quirks in MHA and the mutants of Marvel is how much of the population they account for.
🔥 for Mass Effect
The Synthesis ending is presented as the "good" ending when in fact it's a crime committed against the entire galaxy.
It's horrifying and a hideous violation of bodily autonomy.
If there is ANYTHING I despise about the original trilogy it's that.

This reminds me...my friend brought up the notion that MHA "has to end with all quirks being eliminated," and I had to mention that, while quirks undeniably make the world more dangerous, and it does seem like the series might be setting up that kind of ending, if it does go there, I don't know how I'll feel about it, because rewriting every human's DNA without their consent is bad.

Being a writer your brain is either
A) STUFFED TO BURSTING with ideas you have no clue what to do with or how to make them make sense
or
B) It's a black hole that devours every inkling of creativity in your cells and you are just hoping it'll consume you too
THERE IS NO IN BETWEEN

I saw a comment by someone on reddit who said they no longer comment on any fanfiction because of the risk of it being AI and ... that just seems like such a cop out to me, not to mention incredibly cruel to authors.
Please please please do not stop commenting on all fics or interacting with authors because you are worried about things being AI. The risk is slim, and the damage you do to authors by doing this is awful.
Writers put so much effort into their fics. For people to openly admit they still read and consume these fics, but choose not to comment on anything because of the possibility of someone using AI for their writing is incredibly selfish. You're punishing authors by doing this. You're not being moral or helpful or crusading for any useful cause - you're just hurting authors.
Ironically, by doing this, you're actually more likely to cause authors to stop writing (silence does this), and people who can't write will fill the gaps left by creating AI writing - so you're making the problem worse, not helping anyone.
If you want to support authors and writers, then SUPPORT them! Reblog work and send authors asks, leave comments and kudos, and above all don't punish people with silence.

look, fandom as a whole certainly has its own built-in biases and problems that need to be addressed
but like
every so often i think about all of the deep, nurturing lifelong friendships that only ever happened because one day two internet strangers were like ‘oh hey, we agree on which fictional characters should kiss!’
people who are right now helping each other survive via connections they initially forged by liking the same sailor moon girl or something
the internet is a goddamn garbage pit but it is also a goddamn miracle

I'm not at all picky about POV, unless it's second-person, which I usually find cringe. But present tense? That shit rubs me wrong.
But also, who gives a shit what I think? Are you writing for me, or for yourself? Create what you love, and let the people who also love it find it. That's all.
Tumblr media
People who can't handle certain POV/tenses are weak and should be bullied
"But I don't like how first-person present makes me feel."
Your life has been too easy.

All the found families I enjoy, and all the ones I write, tend to be in action stories where they're the main characters. Often they're superheroes, sometimes they're even gods. So like...yeah, kidnappers would be fucked.
Here’s a fun/interesting (if maybe a little confusing) question. So take your fav found-families and put them in this situation. Your fav couple in the family have had a child, but that child ends up getting kidnapped.
How screwed are the kidnappers that they accidentally/or intentionally angered the family?
1-10
1: The family is distressed, but eventually manage to get their child back safe and sound.
10: No force in the world would be able to save the kidnappers.
This is such a good ask. Unfortunately it's going to be a very simple answer since my favorite found families are:
RWBY (Blake and Yang's kid(s)
Symphogear (Hibki and Miku)
Mass Effect (Shepard and Liara)
Persona 5 Royal (FemMC (my headcanon) and Sumire) It's just 10s across the board I'm afraid.

death the kid is such a… weird character. i cant think of another character like him because he’s so weird. like, he’s the son of the grim reaper with horrible ocd and perfectionism issues and also he dresses like a preppy goth in full tuxedo but he also rides a skateboard named beelzebub and does cool tricks on it whenever presented the opportunity also he has guns. none of those character traits sound like they belong to the same person. hes somehow both the coolest and lamest character in the show.
