Just wanted to drop a line to say that I know folks are concerned about Michael unexpectedly not appearing in Nye tonight, but there is a good chance that all of this is related to technical issues/preparing for the live filming of the show that is set to be broadcast into cinemas tomorrow night. Michael also doesn't strike me as the type of person to miss work unless he absolutely can't help it, so the best thing at this point is to stay calm until we know more, rather than getting worked up for potentially no reason...

Observing their surroundings -

The place seems to be loud/noisy. The people sitting behind David get closer to each other to hear each other better. Could also be that they don't want others to listen in or are so engaged in the conversation that they get closer. There's also many people around them, but they're taking up the most space.

Overall gestures of the group -

Michael, David, and Georgia are shouting or talking loudly at each other. We can see David say something, point at Michael, then looks over at Georgia. Anna talks and tries to put her hand on Michaels shoulder, but he moves away.

David points at Michael or/and Anna while speaking, fidgets with the folder/papers he's holding, looks at Georgia then back at Michael.

Georgia points at everyone as a group with her index finger making a circle, then point David and at herself. Anna looks to Michael and touches or tries to touch his shoulder. Michael nods multiple times, looks and backs away from her.

Anna -

Listening - says something causing Michael to look at her for half a second, tries to put her hand on his shoulder but he moves away closer to David. Anna is standing slightly behind Michael.

Michael -

Nods while David speaks and points at him. He's listening to what David and Georgia are saying but by the angle that his head is, Michael is putting most of his attention on David. Nods his head as Anna speak. Hears Anna speak, looks at her for a split second, shifts his weight onto his left leg, moving away from Anna and closer to David and continues to put his focus onto David. Michael is standing slightly in front of Anna.

David -

Talks while pointing at Michael. Looks at Georgia as his fidgets with the papers/folder he's holding. Looks back at Michael and says something. There's a lot of space between him and Georgia, but he's standing closer to Michael. The folder/papers are on his left side, where Georgia is standing.

Georgia -

Makes a circle with her index finger, indicating all of them, then points at them and herself individually while talking. There's a significant amount of space between her and David, Michael, and Georgia. She's also facing away from them. Her torso is pointing past David. Starts moving away.

Michael seems impatient or frustrated. Quickly nodding his head to what David and Georgia are saying. Snapping his head to Anna, quickly looking and moving away.

David is not sure on what to do. Looking off as he's speaking then fidgeting. His eyebrows seem to be raised. Can be to help him think better or to calm himself down. When he directly looks at Michael, his eyebrows furrow or relax. Remind me when someone is confirming something with another.

Anna's shoulder touch Michael could be two things: to calm him down or to signal that she'll be with Michael. "I'll go with him"/"I'm sticking with him"

Georgia is ready to leave. Fast hand movements signify a sense of wanting to hurry/wrap things up and her body facing away from all of them is also a sign of wanting to/being reading to leave. At the end of this clip, you can see her moving further away.

Overall they were probably talking about who's leaving with who or just making plans on what they were all going to do next. Georgia was ready to leave. Michael was impatient/frustrated/disagreeing with something. David wasn't sure on what to do or how to plan this out. David is holding the folder in his left arm, consciously or unconsciously putting a barrier between himself and Georgia. Anna was mostly keeping herself out of it, retrieving her hand when Michael rejects it.

Below will be the analysis for this question! This is NOT the interview so don't click on it.

Here are just random timestamp for this segment: 3:59 - 5:23

Something to keep in mind for any interview: Michael and David are actors. They know how to act when need be, but they also let many things slip through. It's close to impossible to control and be aware of your body language and facial expressions 100% of the time.

"How does it feel to be dating someone who is only five years older than your daughter?"

Surprised at the question, then thinks about it (you can see it in the video). Because of how his head is positioned, chin tucked, eyes up, the look of surprised isn't all that noticeable, but if his head was positioned normally, then the upper sclera (white part of the eye) would be exposed.

Before he says 'um' there's a flash of a smile. This could mean nervousness, he found the question amusing, or he found the reaction of the people around amusing. Probably the third option.

"Because of the age difference, I think both of us were quite surprised when we got together."

Nods meaning he agrees with the statement. Throughout the interview (and in this statement as well), you'll see Michael raise his brows and open his eyes while staring firmly at the person. This means he's trying to get his point across "I'm telling the truth/This is true."

"I don't think either of us -" shakes head 'no' meaning that his head is being congruent with what he is saying "-were kind of looking for that - it's not like it was the easiest thing to do."

He shrugs ONLY his right shoulder, widens his eyes, blinks multiple times, and looks away; the first incongruency. When only ONE shoulder is raised/shrugged it means the person is lying. To Michael, one of them or both, were looking for the age difference or could be one of them were looking for something else.

The wide eyes, blinks, and loss of eye contact could mean nervousness/fast thinking/ or a mixture of the both with the stuttering he does.

"It's not like I've dated lots of people who were much younger than me."

Shakes his head no multiple time with brows raised and wide eyes - Michael believes he hasn't dated people much younger than him and tries to get his point across ('I'm telling the truth/I'm not hiding anything').

"We were very aware of - you know - what difference there might be and also how people might respond to that."

Frantically nods his head (raised brows & wide eyes) trying to show/prove that they were aware.

"So it's not like it was the easiest thing to do."

Fake smile at the end. The smile stretches horizontally not curving up. As he continues to speak, the smile looks frozen/tense when you look at his lips. The lower eyelids do barely come up, but it doesn't make his eyes noticeably smaller like when he genuinely smiles. There also isn't that softness in his eyes. The 'do' at the end also falls in tone.

"Ultimately (nods) we felt it was worth it because of how we felt about each other-" blinks "and now we have two beautiful children together."

That 'blink' during the pause between sentences, wasn't a blink. They are fast and not very noticeable. What Michal did was noticeable and a lot slower than a blink.

Shutting your eyes, obscuring your vision, or for a 'blink' to last too long mean several things: wanting to disconnect from what is being said/seen, distancing/putting a barrier between ourselves and whatever is causing is discomfort, or waning to disconnect and think about someone else.

Michael doesn't want to see or wants to disconnect from what he's saying and takes a split second to collect himself, then pivots the conversation to his children.

"Yeah I'm really happy." - nods and continues to talk about his children and continues to try and show he's being honest.

"If you find someone who brings you happiness and you make then happy-"

Right shoulder goes up, head turns/leans to the right - he's lying. Because he's indirectly talking about himself and AL, this means Michael doesn't feel that AL alone brings him happiness.

This might just be me so let me know what you see and think: when Michael says "& you make them happy" I see a little head shake (meaning no). He feels/thinks that he doesn't make AL happy.

"-you gotta go - you gotta go for that I think and so that's what we decided to do."

In between these two statements, he licks his lips by curling his lower lip in. Brows are up, eye lids relaxed, and starring off - in this case he's thinking and concentrating.

"That's what we decided to do and I'm so happy we did (said with a dead tone) because we have this wonderful family now."

Shakes head no two times - he's not happy they went for it and doesn't believe they have a wonderful family.

The smile at the end - to me - what caused it was Michael seeing the person smile. They sort of giggled and smile widely. Michael was already looking at them so to me, his smile is a reaction to seeing the other smile.

In conclusion; Michael felt like he was lying a lot. He doesn't think him nor AL make each other happy. He doesn't feel like they have a wonderful family. He does think/feel one or both of them were looking for something when it came to being in a relationship.

So, some folks have probably seen by now that the trailer for Michael's appearance on The Assembly this Friday has dropped, and the first question shown is, "How does it feel to be dating with someone who's only 5 years older than your daughter?"

Already, I am seeing people clutching their pearls in response to this, particularly on Twitter. Saying that it's an inappropriate question, that this person has an opportunity to ask Michael anything and chooses this, that he looks so uncomfortable, and so on. One piece of context that seems to be missing is that (to my knowledge), none of the interviewers are fans of Michael's. They were given the opportunity to do research prior to the interview and developed their questions based on that, but none (again, AFAIK) are coming from the vantage of being a fan. So immediately, that gives a different sense of where the interviewers are coming from and how this shapes and informs the interview itself.

What also came to mind is that if Michael is uncomfortable, it's worth thinking about why that might be. It seems like a lot of fans have created this perfect portrait of Michael and Anna's relationship in their minds, so if we are to follow the logic of that--if his and AL's relationship is as sunshine and roses as many people believe it to be--then Michael might be surprised by the question, but probably wouldn't be uncomfortable. Yet in the trailer, we can see the change in his body language and the way he tenses up immediately after the question is asked. Because for as talented an actor as he is, Michael absolutely cannot seem to hide his true feelings as himself.

I also definitely think that whatever answer he gives to that question will be a PR answer. Which is not to suggest that Michael will be dishonest, but rather that he will be polite, but likely without saying what he really feels about their relationship. Again, do I think he owes anyone his full, unvarnished emotions? No, of course not. But Michael is a fully grown adult man who is more than aware of the consequences of his actions, and he does not need to be "protected" or shielded from such questions. So if fans are uncomfortable with Michael's discomfort in talking about a relationship he's been in for the last five years, it might be a good idea to think about why that is.

The other thing I wanted to mention is that the editing of the trailer is already confirming some of my previously-held fears where the autistic/neurodivergent interviewers are portrayed as rude/weird, and Michael is "so brave" for taking on the "challenge" of being interviewed by "those people." It's somehow a combination of objectifying and dehumanizing, putting us (I include myself, as an autistic person) in the category of "other" for actually saying out loud what other people are only thinking. This both entirely disregards the producers/editors tacit encouragement as part of the format of this, and Michael being willing to answer, and demonizes/places the blame on the ND interviewers instead.

That is my take on the trailer, at any rate. I still intend to watch the full show once it's released, and am hopeful that the joyful atmosphere found in other parts of the trailer will prevail throughout the show. Happy as always to hear from my followers with your thoughts, so feel free to chime in...

So the good omens fandom group on twitter really need to get a life and stop living a dream fantasy world and trying to create and imagination of ms and Al relationship just cos a girl asked him about what it like dating someone who 5 years than his daughter and now they getting angry about it like if they actually read the stuff online he had said he was shocked that she fell pregnant but decided to make a go of it for the baby and he didn't want anymore children which he had said many times before so these so called fans that claim to think they know ms and care about him maybe actually come bk in the real world instead and do ur research on him as most on twitter have only become a fan of michael since good omens was realised so 5 years ago I've have watched followed celeb crushed and fan of michael since 2003 and I'm now 32 so do the maths.

And I hope these ppl don't find or go after this girl cos that question it was an off limit interview where private or not could be asked he knew what he signed up for and pretty sure he knew that a question like that was gonna pop up and obvs has to be careful what he says right now now what ever he said the fandom on twitter will be gushing and fantasy again but for most of the ppl we will tell be lying cos we know he not happy he bloody misable with her and there relationship is a mess so ppl wake up to reality and actually see what ppl are actually seeing
