Dipping my toe into fandom talk for a moment…
but I feel like I haven’t seen anyone really talking about the fact that the ghoul took all of the blame for the super duper mart onto himself.
He never once let on that there had been anyone else involved and it would have been so, so easy for him to shift the little dumbass “governmint” attention to her. Obviously she’d just saved his sanity so it would have been a dick move, but a totally valid one from a pure self interest perspective. It also was during that whole conversation that he makes the decision to sew her finger on.
Not sure where I’m going with this but I can’t stop thinking about the fact that he basically ensured that no one else knew she had been there. It struck me as significant.

Rating: E
Pairing: Cooper Howard/Lucy MacLean
Chapter Summary:
“Sorry, I shouldn’t laugh. It’s just…” Lucy hiccups, feeling that mania threatening to retake its hold. She shakes her head, sitting back and putting space between them. The distance leaves her feeling cold, sweat still in the process of drying on her bare skin. “...you were such a huge part of my childhood. And you turned out just…not at all how I would have imagined.”
