The rumor that persists the most ...

Out of all the league members, Grimsley is the one who plays up his public image the most, completely throwing away the authenticity all of the league members strive for; while this is good for his brand, business, and technically, his standing as an E4 member, it does give many the wrong impression of Grimsley- including those outside Unova, his father included.

Some of the rumors include;

That he's been a gambling prodigy since he was little. While he has been playing since he was a child, he wouldn't consider himself a prodigy- it took awhile for him to hone his skills, and even then, it's not good for him. It's a gambling addiction after all, and though he initially started as a quick way to make money before he got scouted, he's been trying to stop now that he has a stable way to make income- but he finds it hard, especially when his image relies on being a gambler.

That he's a playboy- mostly started from the fact that he's incredibly popular with anyone his age that isn't any of his co-workers (who are indifferent to him at best and hate him at worst). He avoids any questions regarding his relationships or if he's interested in anyone (he is), which leads people to speculate he probably had his fair share of exes. (He hasn't.) Shauntal finds this funny because many speculate he has a girlfriend- and she's one of the few people that know that Giima is terrified of women.

Being a general hedonist, as it fits with his devil imagery if he allows himself to live a highly materialistic lifestyle; though his brand manager probably encourages him to play it up, Grimsley is incredibly grounded and responsible for his finances- especially since he allocates most of what he earns for his brother, Cheren. This doesn't mean he doesn't have his own personal funds for gambling purposes though.. but he rarely loses them nowadays anyway.

Thought about the PokeAni Movie plots since the entirety of Relic Castle Arc was inspired by the Entei Movie (and The Book of Exodus), so I came up with post-Relic Castle adventures for them;

Manaphy Movie - takes place a year after Relic Castle, which is how Cheren gets his Manaphy. The Slater brothers head to Oblivia with Noland, Norman, and Brendan only to get entangled in a mission with Rand, Noland and Norman's youngest brother. Hilbert sneaks onboard with Nate and Hugh, and they go through the plot of the Temple of The Sea, with the antagonists being Purple Eyes of the Pokemon Pinchers.

Celebi Movie - takes place around the same time as the Manaphy Movie; Bianca leaves on an assignment to the Sinjoh Ruins from Fennel, and is accompanied by Hilda, Rosa, and N. Trekking through the forest leading to the ruins, they meet a pair of sisters with an injured Celebi, claiming they were transported out of their time and are seeking for a way to return while avoiding the strange people in suits who are seeking to capture Celebi. The antagonists are Archer and Arianna, ex-executives of Team Rocket.

Deoxys Movie - takes place just before SM/USUM arc, so around a year and a half or two years after Relic Castle, with the setting being a newly renovated and technologically advanced Battle Frontier in Hoenn, having been modeled after LaRousse City in the anime following Anabel's retirement. Grimsley and Nikolai came to Hoenn under orders from the league, for Nikolai to look into a meteor that fell in the vicinity recently, while Cheren accompanies Nate in trying out the different facilities.

After Deoxys awakens and unintentionally traps everyone by tampering with the electromagnetic waves, the block bots and robots in the city prevent many from leaving, trapping them in the area with Deoxys and its growing clones, who is searching for something. There aren't antagonists in this story considering it's Deoxys and Rayquaza simply having a misunderstanding and involving the people in the area, but Nikolai takes Tory's place in befriending the docile Deoxys within the meteor.

On Nathaniel and Nikolai,

The thing with Nathaniel is that while he's definitely meant to be an average child, he's incredibly resourceful and responsible, especially in knowing the basics to run a small business and handling money, and budgeting; he and his mom run a carinderia (diner with homecooked meals) by themselves, something his mother only started after she retired from being a nurse to take care of her son by herself.

He has some level of emotional fortitude due to what happened with Plasma years prior, and, not wanting to succumb to rage like what happened with his best friend Hugh, he tends to manage more of his serious emotions, or channel them into something else- which is being loud and hyperactive, to blow off steam.

This isn't a "secret part" of him, it's one of his character traits that's downplayed because he travels with an older figure. Despite these traits, he's still a child, he's discovering things about the region, about his Pokemon, about himself, etc. He was already independent before leaving Aspertia- he just got homesick.

Nikolai, meanwhile, despite his knowledge on thousands of matters and having many, many skills and specialties, was incredibly sheltered until his adulthood. Hypothetically, he has learned to fend for himself and more, to thrive even- but unlike Nathaniel, he never adjusted to the thought of one day leaving the nest. And when he did, he was unprepared.

Compared to Nathaniel's emotional maturity, Nikolai never had the chance to develop it fully- when he left the village as an adult, he was exploring the world for the first time, experiencing many things; and it was instantly taken away from him when he was taken under The False Prophet's wing.

Giima is sympathetic to me even with the whole plot of him prioritizing making money/putting his paycheck first before the joy of battling because guess what <- understands the nuance of doing something for passion and doing something for a paycheck <- came from a poor family

He entrusted The Heart (Gabi) to the castle, didn't meet Gabi himself when he saw how loved he was in the castle; only to find that, a year later, his brother died. And with The Doctor's disappearance (caputed and imprisoned by The False Prophet), he's truly alone.

God-ish is like. His black sheep status, how he looks at everyone, especially his father. Non-Breathe Oblige is more of his honest feelings towards himself, beneath what everyone sees of him (considering this is his ace trainer era). ILY ILY is the growing resentment towards Noland, and Snowman is the culmination of his childhood, when his mother dies and he has to focus on providing for Little Cheri.

ADG is less tragic for him than it is for Nikolai- something of his transformation from Ace Trainer Giima to Elite Four Grimsley, embracing a new persona to overcome his past, but never reaching the idealized person he desperately wants to become; a good son to Noland, and a good big brother to Cheren.

Gurenge is like a wakeup call to him from BW-BW2. Stepping up to be more active in Cheren's life after what happened to him, and Giima himself finding a reason to actually live. Finding a purpose.

Elite is post-BW2 to Relic Castle arc. Coming to terms w his issues regarding Noland and himself, eventually culminating in him deciding to retire in (Not) A Devil, after realizing he wants to simply be there for his family without taking the mantle Noland left.

I've been pondering on changing Cheren's full name for awhile (originally Cheri Angelita N. Slater -> Cheren Angelito N. Slater. N is Nanami.) because I think it seems somewhat out of place, considering Grimsley is named Gavino Samuel, Opal is named Dolores Josefina, etc. Shauntal somewhat gets a pass for keeping her name as is.

But anyway! His names weren't that well-thought out yet before, but I'd really like to change it to something that's fitting and also matches with Giima.

Their father is conservative and old-fashioned, and named them after "holy" names.

In Giima's case; Gavino meaning "godsend" or "white hawk", and Samuel meaning "god has heard" / "name of god".

Following Giima's very heavenly name, Cheren's name will be; Cielo (sky) Angel (literal angel- pronounced ang-hel).

While most Filipino names change -o to -a to make it more feminine, Cielo sounds much nicer + probably some worldbuilding aspect to it, so. That's his name now. ^^

Oh, and the mother's maiden name / the siblings' middle name is now Amano! By extension, Wallace, Saturn (Kuroba), and Lisia and Ice (who don't know their father) also have Amano as a last name.

"I want to get tougher so I won't be such a scaredy cat!"

BlightBlur Mira! Daughter of Tucker (Hoenn Battle Frontier), little sister of Iono (Paldea League), and niece of Fantina (Sinnoh League).. as well as a little apprentice of some sort to Bebe, Sinnoh's technician. Her three Pokemon are all from the Kanto/Johto region- Alakazam, Porygon-Z, and Magnezone, the latter evolutions only discovered in Sinnoh.

With how busy her big sister and father are, she's often been in the care of her aunt Fantina, who is still terribly busy as both a coordinator and gym leader- this leads her to hang out with Bebe, who gave her a large Porygon-Z as a playmate; she rides this Porygon-Z like a pool floatie!

Technically too young to go on a journey on her own, Mira spends her days training and studying, as well as playing computer games! She's not scared of ghost types because of her aunt's specialty- but she does hate the dark.

She disappears along with the other four stat trainers during a heated battle at Stark Mountain, and is sent to Hisui alongside her friends, being taken in by the Pearl Clan.

TRYING TO RECALL DETAILS ABOUT IT BUT SO FAR

Everyone except Huang (much needed ...) is in their original designs, with mild differrnces- for example, Rick has orange-ish hair that was prevalent in his 64 design, but has pink eyes like in the remake.

Skye is in Mineral Town. None of the bachelors like him, Doctor especially. But they don't chase him around like the Forget Me Not Valley folks, so he's safer. Lives with Zack and Huang.

Rick has the same illness as Lillia. Something something curse from the Harvest Goddess herself eons ago which curses the firstborn of their bloodline. Because of this, he has a friendship with the Doctor, who is the only one that knows. Only Pete knows its a curse.

Pete and Claire are a pair of farmers! Pete usually handles the livestock and poultry (and fishing), while Claire handles crops, mining, and foraging. Pete is upbeat and chipper (secretly morr observant than he lets on), and Claire is level-headed and calculative- the comically serious kind, however.

I think I didn't out any pairs there despite shipping being a big part of HMSOS just because I didn't know who to match with who. Which I think is Good. But the bachelors and bachelorettes interact more with one another since I wanted them to feel like they actually knew each other.

Huang does not believe in the Harvest Goddess. (Kai swears this is going to get him killed.)
