Oakland Cemetery High School Prom Photoshoot
When it’s Prom season and Wedding season, why not jump into both?! Each year prom season comes around and each year I, somehow, miss it! Even dating back to when I was in high school. Yes, I was one of those who didn’t go to Prom. It’s only one of the few things I wish I could do over, but that’s not how life works. So here I am, feeling like I can make that up by photographing the high schoolers attending their prom today. This year, I got the opportunity to do a prom photoshoot at Oakland Cemetery in Atlanta, Georgia.
Very unorthodox to most, but it was dreamy for me! The Oakland Cemetery is one of Atlanta’s oldest public parks. Not only is the resting place of many of the city’s most influential citizens; it’s also a wedding venue, green space, art gallery, and classroom space. It’s beautiful, nonetheless! Now, onto my homegirl Fiona. She reminded me so much of myself. Not much of a camera person especially in front of others, let alone a professional photographer. So this was fun. I’m such an awkward introvert (extroverted in certain situations) person, so when I’m with others that navigate this world the same we click! I cannot wait to photograph more promgoers in the future.

Ananda & Jose Engagement at Bayfront Park
I'm backlogged on my blog posts, so please forgive me :( By now, this lovely couple is married. However, this session was nothing short of fun. Now, let's take a look back on this day!
Photographer: Arie T. Photography
MUA: Bri Soffa
On October 22nd, 2016, we planned to do a beautiful engagement session at Bayfront Park. There's a beautiful fountain, greenery, as well as access to the beach in the park. We had a plan on what we were going to do, little did we know that the Ironman Triathalon was happening that weekend. There were banners, flags, tents and all types of people and bikers all throughout the park. There was no way we were going to be able to find a blank space for their engagement photos.
While waiting for Ananda and Jose to arrive, I walked around to find the best possible spot. I ended up settling under a tear near the Marketplace. This was my first semi-styled engagement session; I wish more clients would be open to themes. It made for a more relaxed setting with some things from home, music, drinks, and snacks.
The highlight of my day was their dog Dolce (yes, like Dolce&Gabbana) and she was a complete doll. She had her little feathers on and everything. Keep in mind that I've never done a photoshoot with pets before, so it was a bit of challenge. Between trying to keep Dolce's attention with snacks and squeaky toys while snapping pictures and nearly falling, I was able to capture the key shots that they really wanted. We even had time to get a few shots in front of the buildling where they first met!
It was really fun. I'll admit, I enjoyed working with pets and owners. In this case, Dolce was more of a baby; a part of the family and nothing less. I could really feel the love and connection between all three of them. Ananda was super grateful that I captured these moments with them. Dolce is getting up there in doggy years *inserts sad face*, so it was very important that she be a part of this.
To Ananda and Jose,
It was a pleasure meeting and getting to know you two. I truly enjoyed capturing this amazing part of your life. Thank you welcoming me into your world and trusting my vision 100%. I had so much fun with you and Dolce, and I'll never forget our time together. I know I am super late on blogging and you two have already married. CONGRATULATIONS!! I'm super excited for you and the years to come. I wish you both unconditional love and all the happiness that you can handle plus more! :) If you ever make a trip to LA, get in touch. (or if you'd like me to capture any other life events, keep me in mind)
xxx, Arie

My Camera x Model Tyjai High
When I first moved to Miami, Tyjai was one of the first models I had the pleasure of working with. And fortunately, we've been by eachother's side ever since! It's not too often you meet someone who's trying to perfect their craft, like you, and is still willing to look out. She is always the first model I reach out to when I have anything creative to shoot and I would like to think she does the same.
.....or is that asking too much? haha
When Tyjai and I first met eachother, she had a head full of curly locs. Beautiful, beautiful hair. That's what I always referred to her as when my friends and family asked me about the model I was working with. She was "the girl with the huge afro." That was until this year. This year Tyjai cut all of her curly locs off. Literally. She was as low as a fade. It caught me completely off guard, but I loved it. And that's what I love about this crazy girl. She doesn't care about what anyone else thinks. She does what she wants. She does it for numero uno. It's all about self love and she radiates with it. She makes me feel like I'm invincible when I have the camera in my hands and I want to thank you for that! YOU'R THE BOMB TY-GIRL! So that's why I thought she would be perfect for my next styled shoot.
Our most recent one-on-one photoshoot was for a fashion magazine submission. The theme was Androgyny.
null
The idea was to challenge gender norms, while looking as cool as possible, better yet, AS GANGSTA as possible.
null
I'm fairly sure we NAILED IT.
The greatest part of the whole photoshoot was that neither of us are smokers, so we had no idea how to actually light the cigar. On top of that, once we finally figured out how to get it lit, we choked on the smoke. But since she's so such a pro, she kept her cool the entire time.
null
Unfortunately, we weren't published this time. But overall we had a great time and got some cool shots of of it!
Until next time ........

NewlyWeds | The Ermonfils at Matheson Hammock Park
A week earlier, I receive a request of what I thought was just another inquire that would not lead anywhere. Boy, was I wrong. Mr. E contacted me with details about a special day he had planned. He was to marry his high school sweetheart. However, they weren't to have a big wedding celebration but he wanted to be to remember this day forever. Because of the time constraint, I wasn't able to meet with them for a pre-consultation which was  a bit of a bummer. Anyway, we went ahead and set a time after they eloped and that was that.
The day came, and let me just tell you I WAS NER-VOUS! I can't even began to explain how nervous I was. I'm like that when it comes to meeting strangers. I completely over-packed for my session with them. My boyfriend will tell you. He laughed so hard at me that morning. But for those of you that know me, know that I rather have too much than not enough. Even with 2 huge pages full of equipment and props, I still felt like I left something.
I arrived to the park via Uber with no clue as to where I'm supposed to be at. Problem #1. I'm at the beach, when I need to be up in the front at the park. So I start walking, which was more than a mile or so up the road. Now I'm dripping sweat, irritated and thirsty. In my mind, I'm thinking, "There's no way this session is going to be good." I felt horrible.
.......I was wrong. I finally made it to the park and started scouting spots. The Mr. & Mrs. arrived on time. They were just gorgeous as ever. The were just a breathe of fresh air.
From our greeting, they were excited and so was I. We got to know a little bit about each other while we walked to my desired spots. It was kind of like an on-the-spot pre-consult. In a way I felt like I already knew them.
 The session was a breeze.
The love they have for one another was evident and I loved every bit of it!
I'm glad that I've incorporated in-person reveals into my business because the emotional reactions to their finished photos was priceless. I almost cried at the fact that they wanted all of the photos. That's how much they loved them.
The session was a success and the overall experience was simply amazing. I believe I've gained new clients and new friends after this. So, I want to thank you Mr. & Mrs. Ermonfils for loving my vision and being one of my dream clients. I can't wait to capture more memories for you to cherish<3
