too tired with people to say in " nice " way .
R slur is slur . R slur was previously diagnosis , that become slur , because people so violent hate intellectual disability . is insult by compare to intellectual disability , because think intellectual disability worthless .
can not speak for literally all others with intellectual disability , no , but in general from what see and who talk to , very few people with intellectual disability actually want see this word , and often think not even worth take back .
so . be quiet about right to " take back " R slur with autism , with ADHD , with anything other than intellectual disability . many actual people with intellectual disability do not want this word to even exist anymore .
where other groups might have movements to take back words , intellectual disability movement is to remove that word . both movement types can be right - which one work better depend on group - and should respect .
so . honestly , just want people forget word even exist .

This show forced be to think about the mechanics of not being able to feel, but then answers absolutely NONE of the resulting questions from even the most cursory examination of what that must be like. Okay, he doesn’t feel pain, or when people touch him. How often does he just… clear tables because he can’t feel when his hand hits whatever is sitting on top of the desk? Does he experience texture when eating? Some evidence indicates no, so that means that food for him is just… completely different than it is for most people, which must influence his eating habits (hence the whole pancakes thing, not a big textural element there? Why didn’t they just say that?) Is he spatially aware?  How does he navigate in the dark? Does he regularly run into doorframes? Why is he not extremely clumsy? Does he wear itchy/uncomfortable clothing because he can’t feel it and nothing matters? He pets dogs but does he derive pleasure from it if he can’t experience dog fur softness? Can he tell how tightly he’s gripping something? Has he broken things or hurt people because of this, if it’s the case? I don’t need answers to ALL of these things, but if you’re making this a thing, you have to make it a THING, you know?

Okay I have read all the things, the answer to this question is Blue Beetle: Graduation Day and Blue Beetle (2023), both by Josh Trujillo!
Y’all I am almost done with Blue Beetle (2006) and while excellent it doesn’t really have enough Khaji & Jaime for my taste, can anyone tell me if any of his subsequent solos focus more on their relationship?

A lot of these foot soldiers are being manipulated specifically through Christianity, which is a big missing piece here
If you believe in an immortal soul that will either go to heaven or hell and you believe that certain ideas or identities put you on the hell path (being queer, recognizing the harm of colonialism (often so tied to manifest destiny and mission work), perhaps even feminism depending on how fundamental the area), then people making those ideas seem appealing to children is a real and present threat.
Book banning is life or death to the Christian foot soldiers, because their children are supposed to belong with them/to them forever in paradise. These people believe the ideas in these books are going to kill their children — not physically, but spiritually. That if queer acceptance makes it seem like being queer is “okay,” then their kids will commit sexual sin and never repent and they will one day lose their children permanently, because they will be in heaven and their children will be in hell.
Not trying to spark controversy or anything, but why do people want to JAIL LIBRARIANS??? What is even the “logic” behind that??
I linked to several articles in that post about librarians yesterday -- beyond that, I don't think I can really put myself in the head of people who are clearly off the rails. I *imagine* if you ask the nitwits who are calling the cops on librarians, they would probably say that they feel that the librarians are "giving pornography to their children" and are "pedos/groomers." So then people who don't know much about books (which is A LOT OF PEOPLE) hear that and they think, yikes, well, obviously, I want to protect children from groomers! Who would want to be on Team Groomer? I'm on Team Protect Children!"
Which means that suddenly, the LIBRARIANS are by default on Team Groomer, when what they did was... just be a regular librarian with regular books.
Here's another article about the multiple current bills that could affect librarians in Louisiana -- one could result in fines or jail time for libraries/librarians affiliated with the ALA (which the lawmaker claims is "a Marxist organization" -- uh ????) -- another would make librarians liable if a book is deemed "obscene" (presumably by a bunch of people who think EVERYTHING is obscene).
Again, we are not dealing with "logic" here.
As I said yesterday -- Conspiracy Theorist Me says: It's easy to dismiss these people as fringe conservative kooks. And they are. BUT, somebody bigger is pulling their strings. The Kooks are just the foot soldiers of the rich people / politicians, and what THEY want, ultimately, is to get rid of public libraries and public schools altogether. (Presumably for $$$ and Control.)
So they gather their kooks into these incredibly well-organized groups and get their weird members onto school-boards and whatnot across the country, and target their barrages of frivolous complaints in such a way (and in such ludicrous volume -- the majority of the THOUSANDS of complaints in 2021-2022 were made by the same 11 people) -- that it is easier for the school board or library board or whomever to just cave than to keep fighting it. And once you start removing this book or that book, it's a slippery slope.

"low support needs disabled people are often not believed to have a disability at all and therefore struggle to get accommodations."
"high support needs disabled people's accommodations are often seen as 'too much' and therefore are not met."
"neurodivergent people's needs are often dismissed because nothing is physically wrong with them."
"physically disabled people people often cannot physically access buildings and people refuse to do anything about it."
"invisibly disabled people are seen as lazy by society."
"visibly disabled people are ostracized from society."
IT'S ALMOST LIKE THERE'S NO SUCH THING AS A SOCIALLY ACCEPTABLE DISABILITY

So we all know that Tumblr is US-centric. But to what degree? (and can we skew the results of this poll by posting it at a time where they should be asleep?)
Reblog to increase sample size!

The fact that the dub vs sub argument is still a thing will never not make me want to put my head through a wall bc sure I could go on about how it can be an accessibility for people like myself with dyslexia and adhd or talk about how the people working behind the dubs are also professionals who take pride in their work and deserve to be rated on their own merits and skills but at the end of the day it doesn't matter it just doesn't if you like a show better in dub good for you if you like it subbed good for you if you like to watch both sub and dub at the same time I may start asking questions but I digress just let people watch the thing how they want to watch the thing bc at least they are watching the thing

fandom tumblr was another casualty of streaming services. we used to be on here posting about the episodes that were coming out weekly and posting gifs and writing insane shit about the tv shows we liked. now a new season of a show will drop and we’ll talk about it for a week. two weeks tops. and then that show will leave collectively conscious for 1+ year till the next season drops. there’s a reason succession sundays was a blast on here
we used to have real television

Just once, I want the hero to go “your wife/sister/mother/whatever would not have wanted this!”, and the villain to go, “actually, we talked about this a lot. She was really into vigilante justice and eye for an eye stuff. She always said, if something like this happens, avenge me.”

do you know something I think about all the time. What exactly does LMD Coulson remember? They say he has all of Coulson's memories but the last time Coulson had a brain scan would have been late s4. Meaning LMD Coulson wouldn't remember anything that happened in season 5, right? Except he clearly does know what happened; how does this work? I assume they fed him facts about it but. What does he think about this? What does he feel about not remembering his deal and his death? Considering all the other ruminating he does in s7 I wish they'd put some of this in, but I suspect the writers just forgot

Onto Season 2 of legend of Korra and it just doesn’t make sense or doesn’t sit right with me.
You’re telling me that of all the years Tenzin has been alive that no one told the Southern Air Temple that Aang had 2 other kids besides Tenzin? The fact that they are older than him is even worse.
Imagine being in your 50s and just now learning that people didn’t know you existed. It’s an ugly feeling.
It kind of put more truth into when Kya and Bumi would say that Tenzin’s memory is foggy because they weren’t in those trips. It’s sad that Aang wouldn’t share his culture with all of his kids.
It doesn’t make sense on the Aang we know. He was willing to share his culture to everyone. So to not do that with all his 3 of his half air nomads kids. It doesn’t sit well with my spirit. It’s not the Aang I used to know.

One of my favorite things about Blue Beetle was that not only does it completely side step the "I have to keep my identity a secret to protect my loved ones" trope but it just blows it out of the water.
Jaime's family is present when he transforms into Blue Beetle the first time.
His uncle has skills and resources that are integral to the early plot where they break into Kord Industrities and then travel to the Kord Estate. He's part of the Squad.
The whole family, lead by the grandmother, mounts a rescue mission when Jaime is captured.
In the end, Jaime is able to refute the recurring statement that his love for his family makes him weak and it's not just a nice sentiment, it's proven true.
"My love for my family is what makes me strong."
His family's love for him is what saves him.
His father saves him from beyond death. That scene with the candles? I was crying in the theatre. It was beautiful.
So yeah. No more loner superheroes who self isolate because they alone can save the world and having a support system is a liability.
Jaime and the Reyes family said "no, you don't have to do that anymore."
Love to see it.

my favorite thing about the blue beetle movie is how Jaime is like "no killing! I am not a killer Khaji Da, nonlethal weapons only and absolutely no murder!" meanwhile his whole family is laughing while they trample guards with a giant bug mech, milagro and Jenny are setting off explosives in tunnels that absolutely have people in them, and his nana is mowing people down with a giant gun. the no killing thing is a personal choice that Jaime made, the rest of the Reyes family says yes killing
