word vomit based off a mutual post about heroes and villains i just saw but didn’t want to take over 

the idea that a hero will give up their loved ones to save the world vs a villain giving up the world to save their loved ones propping the villain up as like... more romantic or something has never really resonated with me. villains, actual villains, giving up the world for a loved ones means nothing because the villain didn’t give a shit about the world to begin with. they’re selfish about their loved ones? that’s expected. if a villain chose not to save their loved ones and saved the world instead because their loved one wanted them to, that would mean more. most heroes, on the other hand, tend to sacrifice themselves before the would sacrifice their loved ones so they could protect the world and their beloved people, which kind of renders the point moot anyway. also, rarely do ‘heroes’ see themselves as such, more than seeing it as their responsibility. idk, it’s always been a little funny to see it presented that way.

#this has always been interesting to me #how many people are into the idea of the villain saving their loved ones over the world #why wouldn't they? #they don't CARE about the world. #that isn't saying anything? #they'd selfishly keep their own loved ones safe and let the world burn? okay #i would expect them to #ooc tag. #all this being said i don't care really #my main muse is klaus and he's absolutely letting the world burn for his family #boyd would prioritize his loved ones #but he'd try to help save the world and all that I Guess

there’s something about the way that the wolves decided to ... you know ... in motel california. first of all, isaac went completely catatonic and just hid from everything. scott was going to burn himself alive (guilt over derek, on top of everything else, manifesting to its most extreme?). ethan was going to tear himself apart because he was afraid his brother was trapped inside of him. and boyd was going to drown himself. he was going to drown himself and put a safe on his chest so no one could help (boyd himself could lift it, but who else could? only other werewolves, certainly). and then we just never fucking talked about any of that ever again???
