THEIR STORY

Being the oldest of a talented yet rambunctious group of siblings wasn’t Rachel’s strong suit. While she adored her siblings, she wasn’t wired to be a “big sister.” In fact, her demeanor and tendencies were far more in line with being an only child. She enjoyed being in the spotlight and having all eyes on her. She didn’t like sharing, even as a child and always wanted her own space. She didn’t go out of her way to alienate herself, but Rachel was perfectly content living her own life.

Unlike her siblings, Rachel’s penchant for singing and Broadway led her to wanting to be on the stage. Just like her father. Oh and not in just any role, but the starring one at that. During high school and college, Rachel performed in numerous musicals and was even offered a role in an off-Broadway production, but at her fathers’ request she agreed to finish her education first.

Post-graduation was an entirely different story. In fact, as soon as she received her degree, she was on the road to the city to follow her dreams of stardom. However, after a few years of some success, but no big breaks, Rachel became disillusioned with the Great White Way. So, she decided to return to Pennsylvania to assist her fathers with their performing arts program.

Now that she’s back, she has no idea what to do or where she fits. She just hopes her family will accept her with open arms, despite their distant relationships.

THEIR STORY

(tw: death, depression) Delilah was born on a crisp March morning to Timothy James, a barrister who was born and raised in the UK, and Natasha Reynolds – an expat from Pennsylvania who had jumped the pond to find herself. She grew up in south London, adventuring with her mother throughout the various European countries close enough to the UK to travel to over a week or so throughout the summer. Her childhood was a happy one, despite her parents’ odd dynamic. Her mother was a free spirit, and her father was a reserved man who somehow managed to love his wife with his whole heart.

She finished her A levels and moved on to taking Literature at Uni, something her father was both proud of and disappointed in. Though she didn’t have great hopes to be the next Austen, Delilah had always been fond of reading, and dreamed of owning a bookstore one day, and considering she didn’t want to bother with a university education in business, literature was the next best thing. After graduating, she took a year program in small business accounting and had plans to open a bookstore, but that was when the unthinkable happened.

It was two weeks to Easter, and about a week or so from her 23rd birthday, and she was on her way to look at a storefront when she got the call from her mother that her father had passed. Though she was never especially close to her father, Delilah loved her father, and the missing piece of him was palpable in their family home.

Once her father’s affairs were dealt with, much of with Delilah had to take the reins with as her mother was a mess, a tough decision had been made. Her mother couldn’t continue in the UK without her father, and together, Delilah and her mother decided to go back home to the US. A home was purchased for them, and they tried to make a life again, to start over. But her mother couldn’t, and she spiraled.

Delilah was left to pick up the pieces and try and salvage what was left of her family. She used her education, and the inheritance that her father had left her to buy a storefront with an apartment above it in Bearcreek. ‘Sip N’ Time Café & Bookstore’ was her child. Her love, the driving force in her life, and the only way she could keep her mind going and stop herself from worrying about her mother.

Delilah’s been in Bearcreek for about 8.5 years and though she misses her home in London, she’s happy with the home she’s made for herself.

THEIR STORY

Ever since Matt was a kid he wanted to be a firefighter. Well, the first thing he wanted to be was a Ghostbuster but after he learned that wasn’t a real thing he clung to the firefighter dream. He had a miniature fire engine he’d drive around in, which drove his parents nuts, and even begged his mom to take him to the local station for tours. As he grew older Matt never lost focus and flew into the fire academy the day after his high school graduation. He’s been a firefighter ever since, experiencing some of the most intense moments in his life, but also the most beautiful as well. When it comes to impulsiveness, Matt has it down as an art form. The man gets carried away quite easily and he can find himself in sticky situations more times than he cares to admit. He figures life is too short so why not make the most of it? That impulsiveness is what led him to bounce from Lima to Vegas, then to San Francisco then New York to finally Bearcreek. He wants to experience as much as the US has to offer. When it comes to what Matt does in his spare time, he loves to watch movies. He can dish out a quote or incorporate a movie reference without thinking. He has a tremendous passion for ABBA but he’ll listen to just about any kind of music. He doesn’t know the meaning of the word modesty and basically has his own style of living. He cracks jokes and loves to flirt and sleep around. He doesn’t like to admit this but Matt is quite dramatic. Scratch that. Very dramatic. That mixed with his passion can get quite comical at times. Finally he has a big heart and does what he can to help people, sometimes with no questions asked. Matt’s been in Bearcreek for a few weeks now, taking over the Captain position after the prior Captain’s retirement. He’s adjusting to the slower pace compared to the New York madness. Bearcreek does make Matt a touch homesick as it reminds him a bit of Lima, without the cow smell. He feels this is a great place to slow down and possibly start a family. He’s been on the go for years and feels he’s at a good place in his life to give an actual relationship a shot.
