call it what u will, identifying with an animal is one of the most ancient and universal human experiences. the oldest known depiction of a human has a lions head. i am being dead serious when i say there are few things in this world more normal than being a furry

I've been thinking a lot about transfem TJ a lot.
I like TJ, but I don't think he's as explored as the rest of the characters. His characterization is heavily based off what his friends expect of him, being the innocent baby of the group. He's soft-spoken, physically smaller, and also a soft fluffy cat. For most of the narrative (besides Flynn's prodding), he conveniently fits into the archetype set by his old friend group. And, I think it would be really interesting to have him reflect on the dynamic he's created with his friends (particularly Leo and Jenna).
I think it would be a very interesting arc for TJ to confront her identity and grapple with the fact that her Echo friend's aren't really in control of how she feels. If one random day TJ said to the group, "hey I might be a girl. or something. " I can almost 100% guarantee that it would devolve into a competitive (figurative) dick-measuring contest between Leo and Jenna. I don't think they would listen to how TJ actually feels, or really care that much. Unless, TJ decided to stand her ground on the matter.
I wonder if TJ being openly trans would be enough to break the long-established pseudo child-parent dynamic. Instead of her friends taking her in and fiercely defending her from every minor confrontation, they don't know how to interact with her. They're nervous to be seen around her. And, damn. I can't stop thinking about how heartbreaking that would be TJ.
i believe in the holy union between a man and a woman amen
