2 - Favorite Player: Either Oshie or Tarasenko. Tarasenko was the one who got me into hockey and Oshie... well he just gives off pure chaotic energy and I just love him. Honorable mentions go to Crosby, Panarin, Fleury, Kyrou and Debrincat. 3 - Favorite Rivalry: Bit biased but I'll have to go with Penguins vs Caps. Hawks vs Blues comes close though (in fact that one used to be my favorite but tbh ever since the dynasty core faded away it's kinda died out. Maybe with Bedard and Dvorsky around...). Other honorable mentions go to The Battle of Alberta and The Battle of Florida! 25 - Favorite Rookie: Speaking of whom, Connor Bedard! I can't explain it but he just seems... kinda silly lol. Honorable mention goes to Ivan Miroshnichenko (idk if he counts as a rookie since he's been with the caps for a bit, but he didn't make his NHL debut until this season so im mentioning him anyway).

#tbh i try not to judge fanbases #but there was one rangers fan on discord who was being... a bit of a dick #for context after chicago won the lottery one server i was on (One that I have since left for unrelated reasons) got incredibly furious #as were most of the internet (because... yknow. the whole scandal) #and me and this rangers fan started butting heads (as well as a few others later on) #and i was basically saying “hey maybe we shouldn't use someone else's trauma to justify our hatred over a draft lottery #and this fucker kept fucking attacking me and insulting me before they eventually got muted #now i will admit #what I said was kind of insensitive and I do think I probably could've worded it better #(And yes I have since apologized to those people) #however this rangers fan kept insulting me DAYS after the argument #and it got so bad to the point where the mods had to straight up ban them #honestly that combined with some... generally unsavory behavior from other rangers fans #has kinda caused me to develop a slight distaste for the team #another notable incident unironically happens to involve the blues lmfao #and yes it was about the whole kadri/binnington thing #...i dont think i really need to explain this one. the whole thing speaks for itself lol #it actually almost caused me to stop cheering for the blues entirely #but because they're a parasite i eventually got dragged back in lmfao

Question: why are ids in alt text less accessible?

A few reasons.

#1 being that Tumblr is incredibly glitchy and unreliable, and change things all the time without telling anyone. ALT text can be randomly deleted while making a post, or might just disappear after a few reblogs. It's also usually in incredibly small text, and, up until recently, had a neon purple background with white text, which is the exact opposite of accessible.

People who don't have screenreaders can have a hard time reading it because it's so small or because of whatever colors they choose to use for it at the moment (which could change at any time without warning), and that's assuming tumblr doesn't glitch and remove it, which kept happening a lot. It seems to be working fine as of February 15 2024 (for people reading this post in the future), but as we all know, tumblr is a hellsite, and this time next year it might be an unusable mess.

Plain text on the other hand, is a lot less likely to glitch, can't easily be deleted once a post has been reblogged, and is much more accessible to everyone who needs it, including those with screenreader access and those without.

It's also unfortunately very common for the "Image descriptions" in alt text to either be completely wrong, or missing vital information.

A really blatant example off the top of my head is someone posting a cover for a Sherlock Holmes novel, with alt text available. If you don't need the ALT text or don't check, you're going to assume this post is accessible and fine to reblog...until you check the alt text and realize it's not a description of the book cover at all, it's a note about how the OP's father gave them the book for their x year birthday.

Another example is screenshots of tweets -- when you paste a link for a tweet into tumblr right now (February 2024), tumblr automatically converts it to an image and provdes automatic alt text transcribing the original tweet...

Except that alt text only transcribes the text in the tweet, it doesn't mention any images that are included, let alone describe them, and if you don't need alt text and don't check every time you reblog, you won't notice that half the information in this tweet is being outright hidden from people who can't see it.

it's not that arizona is a bad hockey market (it's not the greatest, but it's not exactly bad either). it's not that hockey doesn't work in the desert (the golden knights exist). it's not that the coyotes don't have fans (they do). it's not that the fans don't like the coyotes (their attendance sucks, that's for sure, but that's not the main reason they're relocating). it's not that the coyotes are just a bad nhl team (they are but that's not why they're relocating at all!) it's that alex meruelo is a terrible owner that should never set foot in the nhl again, and that this probably could've been prevented if gary bettman hadn't fuck things up and actually stepped in sooner and actually HELPED THEM. Also, this is more than just a relocation. These are people who might end up losing jobs, these are players and staff who are probably stressed right now. This doesn't affect a city or a team, it affects the people involved too. (And on a slightly harsher note, if you think this is something to celebrate or something to meme about, please go fuck yourself).
