what’s happening to Turning Red is the same thing that happened to Encanto, they focus on the cute characters rather than the meaning of the whole movie. yes it’s great to have a crush or whatever but also to find the meaning of the whole point of the film. four town is amazing sure, but so is the character development of the mother daughter relationship and along with the dad finally speaking up about why Meis mother is like the way she is. it’s about the growth and how in someway or another we can relate to how Mei feels, instead we make headcanons and we try to get more information about the characters that don’t even add on to the story line.
