To others, it comes across as very ignorant to assume that people who engage with MLM and WLW content like shipping do not understand platonic or familial bonds and relationships.

Yugioh is a franchise that has always put bonds at the center and boldly declaring to people who’ve interacted with Yugioh in any capacity do not understand platonic relationships is a deflection.

Especially in a current political climate where the oversexualizing of queer relationships is something right winged media perpetuates to give their bigotry room to roam. Plenty of queer folk have several platonic or found bonds because their familial ones fell through; to reduce queerness to their attraction and claim they’re unable to understand being platonic is dangerous.

While the way you engage and enjoy media will always be influenced by your pre-existing stigmas ,such as your own interpersonal relationships, your perception of love and found family is not going to be the same to everyone.

No one is asking you to engage with content you do not like, but nor should someone else’s feelings or perception about the phrasing of a single line of dialogue make you so viscerally upset.

Making broad, general, and derogatory claims about entire groups of people and tagging it on purpose so your message is seen and shared is the part of your posting that is dangerous, please rethink how you convey your criticisms.

I personally think it’s insane to send a minor scores of anonymous hate messages solely on the ground of a ship, I think we should be educating children how their words online can convey meanings or directly impact others, not mocking and picking fights with them because they don’t like our blorbos together.
