Last night I had a very strange dream that I already lived through most of today, but then I accidentally bought a very expensive pair of shoes and woke up. So here’s how my actual day went: I put some copper ore in the furnaces, I had a little harvest from my garden, and gave it some well-needed maintenance (even popped to the shop to get some more seeds!). Hopefully at some point the beds in my garden will actually be divided into different plants, rather than all mixed together! Then I worked a bit in the top corner of my land, clearing the stuff on the ground around Grandpa’s shrine. Oh, also, I found a stone statue of an owl! Bit spooky but a nice surprise, I put it up by the shrine too. I’ve been trying to think of a way to clear some of the grass I have (because it’s everywhere!) without getting rid of too much of it. It’s very pretty after all and might one day be useful. My idea for this right now is to build a little meadow where the grass can thrive without being trodden on all the time, so I worked a bit at that, too, before a very late night.

I started today without any real plan, and everything I did went a bit more slowly than usual because once you start collecting salmonberries it is very hard to walk past a single one without picking it. Still, I dropped off a cauliflower at the Community Centre and finally got my stash of geodes processed. I ended up with quite an assortment of gemstones, but donated most of them to the museum - which all worked out well because Gunther gave me some cauliflower seeds in return! Then I thought “Oh hey, it’s only 5pm, maybe I’ll just pop down to the mines for an hour or so”. Of course that never happens, if I go down there I’m down there for ages, so I didn’t get home until past midnight. Oops. Oh, also, I saw a woodpecker! Are those common here, I wonder?

You know when it’s a rainy Tuesday with nothing much planned and your Dad sends you a sweet letter and some money in the post? Such a well needed pick-me-up. I ventured out despite the weather to give Robin her axe back, and then headed to the mines where I finally reached level 25. Things are getting a bit more interesting down there in terms of which ores and gems pop up, and plus it’s very sheltered from the rain! At about 7pm I realised I was meant to buy seeds today, so I sprinted to the shop only to find that some Jojamart guy was there handing out coupons. It’s a bit heart-breaking, big chain stores pushing out little businesses. Hate that guy. I didn’t even end up getting my seeds! Abigail says that the valley looks more interesting in the rain, and I have to agree with her. It’s good to have that perspective.

All the salmonberries are out right now so I decided to spend this sunny day foraging. I’m super happy with my finds: 50 or so salmonberries and some wild spring onions! I also found Robin’s axe, I must give that back to her tomorrow. I stopped by the Community Centre to drop off a freshly harvested potato for the Spring Crops Bundle, found this little fenced off area behind Jojamart and bumped into Elliott. It turns out he only moved here a year before I did, I had no idea. Ooh, and these kids suspect that whatever is hiding in the sewers could be accessed using a key owned by Gunther at the museum. Again, a bajillion (or six) pictures because sometimes it’s just hard to choose.

I decided to dedicate all of today to reaching level 20 in the mines - and I did it! I found lots of goodies and waiting for me on level 20 was a sword which is, at the very least, better than the one I’ve been using so far. Progress. P.S. how pretty is the blossom at the moment? I love the spring.

Egg hunt day! It was nice to see the whole town gathered together. Evelyn is such a sweetheart. There was even a little stall selling things! I was very tempted by a soft toy bunny but it was way too expensive. Maybe next year. I managed to collect 6 eggs, didn’t win but had a lovely time anyway!

A lovely, sunny day today. I decided to clear some of the land on my farm that’s really overgrown. My axe isn’t quite up to tackling the bigger rocks yet but I’m pretty pleased with the progress I’ve made! I also crafted a second furnace, thought that might be useful, but now I’m just about out of copper ore. Need to make another trip to the mines.  Afterwards I went for a walk around town - actually, I was going to go to the museum, completely forgot that it’s closed in the evenings! But had a nice walk anyway. Bumped into Alex, who was a little weird, and Elliott who frankly has a good point. Stopped to do a little fishing, discovered a strange altar in the village shop - who is Yoba I wonder? - and saw this whole scene with Linus on the way home. I think he’s one of my favourite people from here so far.
Sorry for all the pictures, I couldn’t choose! Busy day. It’s the egg festival tomorrow!

It was a bit miserable outdoors today. Claudette was more than happy to spend the day curled up by the fire indoors while I did the outside jobs. My tulip harvest was ready! They grew so fast, and are very pretty. I sold most of them but kept four red ones, maybe they’ll make good presents? I got a letter from Robin saying he’d lost his axe. I couldn’t find it but did find a lock-box in the tunnel which I hadn’t noticed before. Must try to get a battery for it. Oh, and I finally upgraded my rucksack! Over the moon about that. I spent the afternoon reaching level 15 in the mines, and, for once, didn’t have to choose between keeping one of my finds over another due to lack of space. I think I might need to get a better weapon, though, there are some weird things down in the mines.

Best day yet because I got a dog! I’ve named her Claudette and she is an absolute sweetheart, always wagging her tail.  I had hoped to buy an upgraded rucksack today but completely forgot that the shop is closed on Wednesdays so looks like that’ll have to wait! I did a few chores dropping things off around town and then wandered home past this abandoned house. I’ve never explored around there before, I’m sure I still have lots to find out.  Also, I realised it was kind of silly for me to be going out to process geodes and drop off museum donations and sell loot every single day so I crafted a new chest: the official Out Box. Now it’ll just be every few days, I think!  Must remember that Claudette’s birthday (as I don’t know her real one) is the 10th day of Spring.

Ah! My parsnips finally grew! I harvested them all and planted some seeds from my stash in their place, then stuffed my pockets full of snacks and headed out for the day. I dropped off one parsnip at the community centre and gave one to Linus (who seemed to appreciate it!), and stopped off to join the Adventurer’s Guild on the way to the mines. How exciting, maybe I’ll be able to save up for a better sword now! Oh, and I finally made it to level 10 in the mines! Waiting for me in a treasure chest was a pair of strong brown boots, which should be very useful for my future adventures. I even made it through an infested area. And thanks to my parsnip harvest I’d made 937g at the end of the day and finally have enough to buy a bigger rucksack tomorrow.

A sort of productive start to the week! My crops grew a little over night which is always nice to see, I’m hoping the parsnips will be ready to harvest soon. I also completed the Spring Foraging Bundle at the community centre! I got some seeds as a reward, and there are little books in several different rooms, each asking for different things. How did Lewis sense I’d been at the community centre? Does it smell that bad there? Anyway, then I dropped off something at the museum and attempted to get to level 10 in the mines (but did not sadly) and got home pretty late again. Busy day.

I’ve been here a whole week now, it’s gone by so fast! Another rainy day today, but my crops are enjoying it. I wasn’t sure what I was going to do today so when this letter arrived in the post I thought I may as well investigate. I had a bit of trouble getting there because my land is still so cluttered - I should probably do something about that! The Wizard (interesting guy) showed me the same creatures I saw in the community centre yesterday and told me a bit about them. I now have the power of ~forest magic~ thanks to some of whatever was in that cauldron. Stayed out late mining again and walked home in the dark... oops. But now I can donate to the community centre! Hurrah

Day 6 of being at the farm. Busy day today! First thing in the morning Clint dropped by to give me some blueprints for a furnace. Oh, and my crops grew a little over night, too. When I was done with watering them, Lewis took me to the old community centre. I had no idea it was so big inside. Also found a mysterious note and some mysterious creatures (always good!). I was going to try to get a bit further in the mines, but I ran out of energy so fast. Next time I must remember to pack snacks.

Raining again, but a very good day really. My parsnips were finally ready to be harvested! I sold most of them but kept some for myself. I’ve been mostly living off foraged food which is a little bit unreliable. Oh, also, I finished the new beds! And planted all the plots up with parsnips and tulip bulbs. I’d like to try growing something else once I have enough money. I also got a letter telling me that the boulder by the lake had been removed. It was so exciting to explore the first three levels of the mine. It feels a bit dangerous but I found several geodes to take to the blacksmith’s tomorrow. I wonder what will be in them.

Sun’s back out today! I dedicated most of my day to fishing and foraging, as I’m trying to save up for a bigger rucksack (among other things!), but in the evening I found time to work a bit more on my garden. I popped to the shop and bought some tulip seeds to plant, and decided to dig two more beds. Unfortunately I was way too tired to finish them tonight, but hopefully I’ll get around to it tomorrow. I’m meeting new people every day at the moment, and I’m starting to get used to spending my days outdoors.

It rained all day today. The kind of day where all I really want to do is curl up with a book - but I decided to go out and explore anyway. I found a note from Grandpa, but I’m not sure what it means. The library was quite empty but very nice and warm and worth visiting.
