#GraceSlick is one of the first female rock stars, alongside her close contemporary Janis Joplin, so an important figure in the development of rock music in the late 1960s. Her distinctive vocal style and striking stage presence exerted influence on other female performers, including Stevie Nicks and Patti Smith. At the start of WWII #HedyLamarr and composer George Antheil developed a radio guidance system for Allied torpedoes, which used spread spectrum and frequency hopping technology to defeat the threat of jamming. The US Navy adopted the technology in the 60s, and is the same principals used today in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
