Bandana Dee liked visiting Kirby. Working at Castle Dedede, while entertaining in its own right and his moral duty as a commander, could be rather stressful at times. Hanging out with Meta Knight? Even more stressful. The stoic knight was always so... intimidating? The two frequently meet up, but only with the company of Kirby and/or Dedede. 

But there was absolutely no stress around Kirby. The small box tv sits in the corner of the puffball’s dome house, and Dee flickers through commercials while sprawled out atop the neatly made bed. Shifting around a bit while Kirby is busy making whatever food he was making - probably a strawberry shortcake - the waddle dee eyes a sock, barely clinging onto the bed frame beneath the covers. Moving a bit, the sock falls to the floor. Huh. 

Bandana Dee hops off the bed, and a hand picks the cloth up. It’s soft, made of fuzzy yarn and nicely stitched... Something about it is familiar? But before he could inspect it further, however, he feels himself get pulled forward, just slightly at first, until his entire body is suddenly thrown into the sock’s hole. 

There’s a pain coursing through him, and when light finally pours back into Dee’s eyes, he feels lighter. The grass beneath his feet; no, not grass... Wool? The small creature gradually gets to his feet, dusting himself off. His bandana has fallen off. 

It’s see through. And made of yarn. A sceptical glance at his own body, and he realises that he is as well. So is everything around him. 

He screams.

Ink coated spears

The rain, once nothing more than a few light spits, was now a heavy shower that pours from darkened clouds. There's a crack of thunder and the brief shock of lightning against the night sky, barely illuminated by the moon, as Bandana Waddle Dee traverses through the dirt road, turned into a slippery slope of mud. Bandana soaking wet and feet trembling with wobbly steps, squinted eyes pick up the sight of what seems to be a rather old (perhaps rundown?) house? No, a... a studio- it was a studio, yes. The only building out here in the vast yet empty landscape. Just how forgotten was this area...?

It looked eerie, certainly. But Dee was in no position to be picky if he wanted to get out of the cold rain. Although, perhaps he could just... walk home... It was who knows how many hours away, but maybe...

The loud crack of thunder snaps him out of his thoughts with a startled jump, eyes wide. ❝ Okay, okay, okay! ❞ he whimpers, rushing to the establishment. The door is locked, refusing to open no matter how hard he pulls and twists the knob, so with a few minutes of spear jabs, the wooden door is broken enough for Bandana Dee to rip the hole open further, allowing him to squeeze in.

Dropping his spear with a clink, he immediately wrings his bandana off, huffing quietly. Dee cocks his head up, and the first thing he sees is dripping ink and a narrow hallway leading to a room dimly lit by flickering lights and a half fallen projector. The small creature takes a few hesitant steps forward, glancing around. He doesn't dare say a word.

Joey Drew Studios, huh? That's what it says on the wall.

He's getting bad vibes.

Ah. So he didn’t know. Never before had Bandana Dee thoroughly explained the oddity that is Kirby, nor go in depth regarding his incomprehensible (and, frankly, quite terrifying) abilities. Kirby is Dee’s best friend, his little brother - but it wouldn’t be the first time where he’d be a little afraid of what Kirby’s potential would be like once he’s fully grown.

❝ Well, it’s safe to say that Kirby has, ah, killed quite a lot... of... of people- ❞  There’s a brief silence, eyes darting to the side. He readjusts his bandana, straightening it out before glancing back at Wolf.

An uncomfortable shift in his stance.  ❝ A lot of real bad guys threaten our home quite often. Kirby deals with them, and most of them? They don’t... really come back. ❞ Bandana Dee clears his throat.  ❝He’s our hero, but he’s still just a baby. If he can easily eradicate universe-ending deities, then what’s he going to be like when he’s an adult, y’know...? ❞

"You're that... wolf guy Kirby speaks about! From- From the fighting tournament he's in! Goodness, it must be an honor to be in such an event - and to fight Kirby and live to tell the tale...! I'm sure you're doing great out there, sir!"

“Pssh, good to finally see some of my fans here. Of course it’s an honor to-” Wait a minute, live to tell the tale? He thought Kirby was just some pink infant who wandered in one day!

Well, that wasn’t accurate, given his status as a fighter, but this marshmallow was talking like Kirby was some kind of abomination, worse than the aparoids even.

“…You good?” He looked over his shoulder to make sure the other Kirby fighters weren’t present before whispering to him. “Did that kid straight-up kill someone?”

There’s a large box of candies left for the Waddle Dee, all decked out with cute ribbons and a note tucked in. The words looked as if scribbled with an ink fountain pen— ‘Sorry for being a handsy devil, you’re just so irresistible! Take these as apology, they’re as sweet as you are brave. ❤’
