Doesn't stop Cairis and Rio from trying to gather scrap for their tentacled new overlord or whatever.

Pretty sure Rio is 9000% done with Cairis, though. What a coward she is!

"The fact that you'd take on that task makes my heart positively wobbly," she teased gently.

"Alright, then! I'll get out of your--" She flicked a quick glance up at his ears-- "hair, and go get some other things taken care of." She saluted with a fist to her heart, as was proper and expected. "See you later, Commander."

Because she did have things to do. Her boss let it be known on the sly that something hinky was going on with that spa and she was to do some digging while out there beyond surface work.

Personally, Cairis hoped there was nothing to be found. She really did just want to relax for a while - and if she got to relax with handsome Repard, that was even better.

Cairis grinned, pleased with having gotten her way.

Patting his chest, she winked at him and said, "Less clothing sounds absolutely ideal. And the spa pools aren't deep water, so no worries there."

She shuddered at the thought of deep water; absolutely horrifying.

"Still, it's work first and play second," she added. "I'll try to get the interviews conducted quickly so we can spend time together. Wouldn't want a commander to waste his shore leave!"

Cairis leaned up against Repard with a happy little sound. They were very nearly the same height - he was a little taller - so she could easily lay her head on his shoulder and get comfortable.

"Seems there's some new fangled 'mineral treatment/spa treatment' that is doing WONDERS for Galra stamina - furling and amphibian classes alike. You know I'm the 'puff piece' writer, so they're sending me out to see first hand how this mineral bath is making our soldiers extra spiffy."

She lifted her head, then, to grin at him.

"Maybe you'd want to take a dip with me, if you can get leave to head over to Rigel 7? Me - less clothing, water-slick... sounds good, yes?"

Starting to feel a little better, so I'm feeling like being active again. Sorry to all who started threads and whatever with me recently and then I vanished - got very sick.

I'm stepping back in again, but taking it slow.

Might also do an installment fic of Rio and Cairis being scrap hunters a la Lethal Company. Because the muns love the idea of their blorbos (am I using that correctly?) futzing about in that universe.

(Seriously: Rio's tail frizzed out to no end and absolutely flummoxed over Cairis' love of whoopie cushions. Come on, now.)

6. What is your character’s fondest memory?

Not being forced to stay with her parents anymore. The law in her city tree meant that EVERYONE that had reproduced HAD to provide adequate care and guidance for their offspring at the very least.

Her parents did the bare minimum. Once she was close enough to legal majority, she just moved out and went to be elsewhere in her district. Sure, she was technically 'homeless', but there was always somewhere to crash and rats to hunt and odd jobs to get a few GAC here and there.

No longer having to suffer her parents....? Absolute BLISS. First night she got to sleep without having that sleep interrupted with demands to fetch this or that or do this or that...? She fell asleep and woke up with a smile.

14. Who would your character never betray? For the writing meme

Cairis can't think of anyone she'd willingly and knowingly betray. Sure, if she got badly frightened and had to run for her life, she might accidentally leave someone behind... but she can't think of anyone she'd go out of her way to betray (especially since they could murder her to death, in a variety of ways).

But, seriously, the closest people in her life... she'd go out of her way to protect --- hold on, she's had a thought.

Morvok. That runt can't piss off and die in a fire - and she'd bring marshmallows to toast. He's a shitstain on the underwear of the universe.

Sendak and Haxus - IF she could get away with it, them, too. Because screw them, that's why.

10. What were your character’s favorite and least favorite parts of their education?

There were no 'favorite' parts of her education. Education was mostly limited in that she was taught to read and write (Snilian dialect only; her particular section) and arithmetic only so she could be put to work faster. She grew up slum scum in her giant city tree.

It wasn't until she actually got to go off-world by signing up for basic training and then joining a fleet that she got to have REAL education - which was fun, at first, until it wasn't, and then it WAS fun again, until it wasn't, and... she enjoys learning in and of itself. The subjects can be something else again.
