The Blessed Dead
Looked Down Upon With Scorn
We Work the Fields of the Masters
And Share Not the Bounty of the Black Earth
Destitute Servile Cast Out
Affording No Tomb
We Shall Be Buried
Unprepared in the Sand
We Shall Never Be The Blessed Dead

Quarter Life Decisions
I stood in a blinding white light, but I may as well have been deep in the womb-like embrace of total darkness. Though my body was physically standing there, staring at what lay before me, my mind and being were lost in the metaphysical realm of total thought.
In that place my doubts are mountains and my fears the creatures that dwell in their caves. When I was younger the mountains were no threat to me, I had all the time in the world to plan, advance, and recover on my journey. Staring back now though I could see that the very titans I thought I had conquered were but hills that could leisurely be strolled across.
Now I have a choice to make. Where do I choose to climb? Knowing I may not live long enough to descend again. Knowing that there may not even be a way down. Knowing that this could be the last time I get to peek over the clouds.
I continue to stare and in my peripheral vision I can see the wily strands of my beard encroaching onto the image like a badly designed black metal logo. Like the roots of Yggdrasil they stretch back through all the worlds I encompass. They snake through time to all versions of me and I remember the choices that have led me to this moment.
It used to be so easy.
But now, how I can I possibly choose. Knowing that my career could be affected, knowing that my life can be altered, knowing that my time is limited.
How can I decide? As I contemplated my life at the Best Buy I asked myself aloud, “Do I get the new Rock Band...or the new Guitar Hero?”

Dreams
Just one more mornin'
I had to wake up with the blues
Pulled myself outta bed, yeah
Put on my walkin' shoes
Went up on the mountain
To see what I could see
The whole world was fallin'
Right down in front of me
'Cause I'm hung up on dreams
I'll never see, yeah baby
Ahh, help me baby
Or this will surely be the end of me, yeah
Pull myself together
Put on a new face
Climb down off the hilltop, baby
Get back in the race
'Cause I'm hung up on dreams
I'll never see, yeah baby, yeah
Ahh, help me baby
Or this will surely be the end of me, yeah
Pull myself together
Put on a new face
Climb down off the hilltop, baby
Get back in the race
'Cause I'm hung up on dreams
I'll never see, yeah baby
Ahh, help me baby
Or this will surely be the end of me, yeah

They say some days you're gonna win,
They say some days you're gonna lose.
I tell you I got news for you
Your losin' all the time you never win
If you believe that's how it's gonna be I'd better put you down
Get off your tightrope up there come down on
The ground you gotta save me now,
You better turn around.
When I looked around, I was heading down.
Won't somebody throw me down a line.
They say some days you gotta give--
They say some days you gotta take--
If that's the way it's gotta be,
Roll it over and you will see.
The city streets are full of people going nowhere making time.
The change from night to day is really only hours,
It's just along the line can't you see the sign
When I looked around, I was heading down,
Won't somebody throw me down a line.
I want to look you straight in the eye,
I want to tell you how I really feel,
I can feel the wheels turnin' round,
Won't somebody throw me down a line
The city streets are full of people going nowhere making time,
The change from night to day is really only hours
It's just along the line, can't you see the sign
When I closed my eyes, I was so surprised
Somebody had thrown me down the line--stopped me drownin'
Somebody had thrown me down the line

This trail is obsidian, the grip of Winter uncoiled
A lover would follow me
Cast down and sworn to the dark
Take the road where devils speak
"God is dead"
The wealth of darkness
Inside you, tell you "now"
Your senses corrupted
Controlling a poisonous will
Take the road where devils speak
"God is dead"
In the corner of my eye
You are tearing flesh from bone
Led the blind in search to find
A pathway to the sun
Saw the signs intertwine
And forgave me all my sins
No stigmas revealing our vices
And there are no stigmas revealing our vices
God is dead

Unrest for Melancholy Men.
"Unrest for melancholy men
Who wallow in dismay
For Azrael, the lone Butcher
Was born upon this day
To steer us all toward Satan's ends
And lead us all astray
There'll be absence of comfort and joy
Comfort and joy
There'll be no more comfort or joy
In affluence, O Azrael
Unholy babe was born
And laid in modern hospital
Upon this wretched morn
The which His Father Abaddon
Imparted him with scorn
Toward man, no more comfort or joy
Comfort and joy
There'll be no more comfort or joy
Future unelected wraith sent to destroy
to destroy
Rejoice! It's man's terminus!
Reveal! Vatican's accomplice!
Rejoice! Mankind Azrael destroy!"
