“They are super dangerous, but if we don’t stop them, who will?  If they start shooting at us, we’ll run again,” he told her.

"I guess there really isn't anyone else around who would stop them," Cat replied after a moment of consideration. "I've run so much already, I don't know if I have the energy."

“Come along then,” he smiled as he lead the way back to his TARDIS.  “We can go see these unicorn like creatures and I’m sure we can find some other stuff to see in all of time and space.”

Cat nodded with a bright smile of her own, quick to follow after The Doctor. "I can't wait! This is going to be so amazing!" She saw the TARDIS not far from them. "What kind of stuff do you want to see? You're probably been so many different places, but is there any place you really want to go?"

“I unfortunately do know how to think like a Dalek and I don’t think it will help here,” he told her, “We’ll just have to confront them.  That tends to work best.”

"Oh, well it was worth a try," Cat replied after a moment. She nodded her head. "But I thought they were super dangerous. What if we make them mad?" She didn't like the looks of them as is, plus they just ran from them minutes ago.

The Doctor thought for a moment.  “Not on Earth there isn’t, but there is a planet with something a bit similar to what you might call a unicorn.”

"Really?" Cat asked with evident excitement in her voice. "Then that's where I want to go! I've always wanted to see a unicorn, even if it’s something similar. I’m sure I’ll like it just as much"

“It’s not really about enjoying traveling,” Cara said, “While I am - wherever I am, I’m working. There’s not a lot of downtime, not a lot of sightseeing, and given my lack of funds, not a lot of cultural experiences. It’s pretty much doing a job, then moving onto the next one.” She then shook her head, “I disagree. I think it is essential, but I do agree that it’s not a constant, especially as you get older. So I do think you should enjoy it when it happens. Make as many amazing memories as you can. You don’t want to look back on your life and wish that you could’ve experienced one thing or tried another. Trust me.” As for her not being any more talented than anyone else at her school, that was another thing she disagreed with her on, “There is no one else like you. What you have to do is find the things that make you stand out the most, and then amplify them. Make people pay attention.”

“It shifts more and more as you get older,” Cara replied. “Or at least, it seemed to. Ari and I started to support each other more instead of me just looking out for her.” She would never know how their relationship would’ve developed, she would never know what they would’ve become - if they would’ve gotten the futures they’d dreamed up as children. If they would’ve had families and grown old alongside each other. Cat’s question brought her out of her thoughts, and she responded, “Mostly, I research where I’m headed next. What my next job is going to be, where I’ll be staying.” She also was usually researching whatever creature she was currently up against, but again, she didn’t need to know that. She then shook her head again, “Nope, no TV. My father believed them to be unnecessary. Books, your imagination, playing, and then later experiencing or focusing on our studies, that was all necessary to him. So not only have I never heard of Mona Patterson, but I’ve never heard of I Married My Mom, either.” As for having the newest version of things, or being labeled the odd one out, she shrugged, “So be odd. Being like everyone else is overrated. And right now I am giving myself some very rare downtime. A cuppa, time with a book, and now a conversation with you.” She offered her a small smile as if punctuate the fact that she was enjoying talking to her.

“It seems like all you really do is work,” Cat replied after a moment. “Which isn’t a bad thing. My parents do that a lot too. But if that’s what you want to do, then you should.” And if Cara didn’t, Cat wasn’t sure why she’d travel so much otherwise. “Well, I wouldn’t want to regret not doing something, but I’m also not allowed to do too much. My mom usually needs me home to help her look after my brother.” Of course, that didn’t stop her from trying out for parts or hanging out with friends. She usually lost track of time when doing the latter, yet nothing was ever held against her for it. Cat tilted her head slightly, taking in the next set of words. “You make everything sound so easy, but it’s still nice to hear someone talk about things like that. Maybe I’ll try to make more people pay attention to me.” She wasn’t quite sure how, but maybe Tori could help her out with the endeavor.

“I’ve been noticing that. From the way you talk about your sister, I can tell you had a really good relationship with her.” And Cat was sad knowing Ari was no longer around. If she ever lost her brother, despite enduring the typical sibling squabbles (and dealing with his mental state), surely the pain would be unbearable. She was lucky he maintained himself well enough as is, especially after having put himself in dangerous situations without realizing it, or even taking it in afterwards. “So you mostly stay at hotels? It sounds kind of lonely.” To Cat, being by herself too long got to be too much. She needed people around. Company lifted her mood, regardless of her typical cheerful disposition. “Since I want to be an actress or singer, that’s the exact opposite of how I feel, but my dad also thinks those things are important too. You haven’t even heard of her show either? I thought everyone knew at least that much. If you ever have the time, I recommend checking it out. Or her new show called The Dead. When the article came out about her joining The Dead, I thought she actually died because the way it was printed, isn’t that funny?” She laughed a little to herself before replying. “It might be overrated but I can’t help myself. I take it you don’t relax often. But I am enjoying talking with you too.” The easy weave of conversation suited her well, aware most would have dismissed her by now.

“Correct,” the Doctor told her, “It just sort of depends on how they are trying to do so.  If we can figure that out, we can put an end to it.  It’s rather simple when you think of it like that, although it will probably be more difficult in practice.”

"But how would we figure something like that out?" Cat questioned, tilting her head slightly as the question left her. "Maybe if we think like a Dalek, we'll figure it out. But I don't know what they think about, do you?" She tried to imagine it, but the attempt didn't last long.

“Maybe,” the Doctor agreed, “But perhaps we should be going.  There isn’t a whole lot to see here anyway.  But we have all of time and space to visit.  Where would you like to go?”

Cat nodded even if she thought there was a lot to see. "Can we go somewhere that has unicorns? I really want to see one. Wouldn't that be amazing? Is there a place that has any?" She figured there had to be.

"We can't buy pumpkins at the store. There's no fun in that," Cat explained with a minor shake of her head. "So yes, we really, really have to go."
