Pfp made in ElenaA's picrew: https://picrew.me/en/image_maker/1855819 She/They, 18, genderqueer aromantic gay guy, quite nerdy with an interest in mythology, biology, cephalopods, narrative theory, and fantasy books. Also my most popular posts are about discworld and Terry Pratchett so I guess I'm a fan account for that now. Not complaining. “You can’t headcanon that character as aro, they’ve canonically had romantic interest in someone!!!” Okay but you can ship a character who canonically has had NO romantic interest???
What makes this even funnier is if you’re a rich guy and do this the actual poker players will shower you with praise and stroke your ego (especially when you win hands through sheer variance) and say you’re great and to keep doing what you’re doing because they’re just siphoning money from you and want you to keep it up. Like, that’s the original definition of a “whale” in the gambling sense
i learned about Tim Wong who successfully and singlehandedly repopulated the rare California Pipevine Swallowtail butterfly in San Francisco. In the past few years, he’s cultivated more than 200 pipevine plants (their only food source) and gives thousands of caterpillars to his local Botanical Garden (x)
I've noticed some people seem to have a really hard time handling genders or identities or etc. that they don't understand or that don't make sense to them and you like... you don't actually have to understand it. If it doesn't effect people, sure. If someone says they were born as a boygirl then okay. If someone says their gender is a dragon than okay. If someone says they've reincarnated a thousand times and remember each past life then okay. If people say that they believe everyone who isn't in their religion goes to hell and so they get to harass strangers then not okay. It is always actions that matter, not internal feelings or thoughts or descriptions of one's own identity. If it doesn't affect others, live and let live.
I hope the kids growing up on today's internet are still getting to share that experience of finding some out-of-context AMV featuring an implied narrative of characters they know nothing about and having it become a keystone of their brain forever
straight guy geologist describing a vertically oriented igneous intrusion to his buddy: it’s a . well. i’m not sure i can reclaim this one just get over here
imagine two mated wyrms twisting around each other, possessing an uncountable number of limbs, each claw of good or evil interlocked with its opposite, the coil twists further around itself into a skein of flesh. how i would describe DNA to a wizard
