Some of you may have noticed we posted a response to this blog earlier that was then deleted. At the time of posting that, emotions were running very high, and it was a poor attempt at an apology that ended up victimizing ourselves rather than actually apologizing. We're trying to make a better and more genuine apology now that we have had a chance to clear our heads. We have also had people from outside of the mod team read this before we posted it.

Sincerely, we apologize for any harm that we have caused Indigenous people with this roleplay. The anti-Indigenous themes and stereotypes littered throughout warrior cats and the wcrp community are something that we should have been more conscious of when creating something, especially within the setting that we did. While we tried to remove or change anything glaring prior to starting, it's obvious that we didn't do enough research. We were overly excited and uneducated, and rushed into opening this rp without considering the consequences. It was our responsibility to research any implications within our lore, and we didn't.

We also responded very inappropriately to many of the criticisms we received. Much like the original apology we posted earlier, we responded emotionally instead of logically. Given that this rp was a creative labor, criticism often felt like an attack on ourselves rather than advice. Looking back, I am ashamed of the way I reacted and responded. Deciding not to change the name of the Gang, among other things, was immature and irresponsible. While we wanted communication, the way we communicated was off-putting and cold, and we can't blame anyone for not talking to us off-anon because of that. The voices of POC matter more than our own feelings, and we unfortunately didn't reflect that with our previous statements.

This roleplay is not closing so that we may escape criticism, or to avoid blame. It was rushed into and poorly thought out, and the setting is clearly not something our mod team should be handling at this point in time. We want to use this as an experience to learn and to grow as people. Admitting to being wrong is the first step to growing. If we ever mod another roleplay, we will avoid settings with such dark and violent pasts, especially ones that we aren't qualified to handle. In the future, we will learn from our mistakes and accept criticism gracefully, instead of wrongfully interpreting it like a personal attack.

We understand that this apology will not fix anything. We know that no one - especially not BIPOC - owes us forgiveness or politeness. We were too quick to insist that people were judging us without knowing what was going on behind closed doors, while we were doing the same. We truly feel horrible for any pain we have caused, and any stereotypes we have perpetuated. It feels appropriate to lay this rp to rest and leave the blog up as a lesson for ourselves, and for anyone else that may learn from our mistakes.

INTRODUCING

Lonestar | PrairieClan Sheriff | 46 moons | he/him | played by Mod Griffin

Lonestar was born to Bullfrogsong and Salmonleap, his somewhat odd name bestowed upon him by the fact his only littermate died before the kits were even weaned. Even as a kit, he was very curious about the goings-on of clan life, and he would attempt to steal glances into Stallionstar's den when he thought the Sheriff wasn't looking.

Stallionstar took on Lonepaw as his own apprentice, and it became clear that he was Stallionstar's golden goose. The young apprentice struggled with connecting with his clanmates, when the Sheriff gave him such preferential treatment. He was only ten moons old when Salmonleap died, and he grew close to Grasspaw, whose parents had died in the same coyote attack.

He was given the name Lonepath as a warrior, which seemed fitting, given that he was still not very popular. Stallionstar gave him his first apprentice - an eager cat named Stormpaw - at the young age of 21 moons, to the outrage of many of the other warriors. Only two moons after Stormchaser's training finished, the deputy died in a skirmish with the gang, and Stallionstar promoted Lonepath in their place.

He was only deputy for two moons when Stallionstar died. At only thirty-two moons, he felt unprepared to lead, but he took the role regardless, and PrairieClan was too weary to protest. Some moons later, Grasswind gave birth to Bisonkit and Coyotekit, and Lonestar took Goldpaw as his own apprentice.

As a leader, he is notorious for letting RustClan warriors get away with trespassing and pushing at PrairieClan, eager to maintain the small amount of peace that the clans have had. Now, many PrairieClan cats have begun to think RustClan's grace period has ran out and that Lonestar should take a stricter stance on them - including Grasswind, who ended his relationship with Lonestar.

With Coyotepaw and Bisonpaw recently becoming apprentices, Lonestar is left to wonder if he should put his foot down for the safety of his own kits. Is it worth maintaining peace, if he becomes a stepping stone for other cats?

PrairieClan applications are now open!

Tensions are high in PrairieClan as they recently arrived at the gathering place to the sight of a red moon, with RustClan and DustyClan nowhere in sight. Effectively cut off from the other clans, PrairieClan's leader, Lonestar, struggles to keep rumors to a minimum - and there is the added worry of the Red Moon and what it means for the clans.

A year after the War, the clan has - according to their leader - moved on from the past, now living peacefully beside RustClan and their much older neighbor DustyClan. However, currently oblivious to the ongoings beyond their borders, cats are starting to question if their neighbors are planning something, perhaps even having joined forces against PrairieClan. With rumors spreading fast, pacifistic Lonestar is having trouble keeping his clan in line.

Chasing Thunder is a 16+ warrior cats roleplay set in the American Great Plains during the 1890s. Chasing Thunder centers around three clans - PrairieClan, DustyClan, and RustClan - and the new world that they’re living in following a war with the brutal Red Claw Gang.

Chasing Thunder focuses heavily on player engagement and allowing players to affect and become invested in the story. The actions of individuals matter greatly, and may permanently change the course of the plot. Players will be given the opportunity to suggest their own plot ideas and create characters as part of overarching story beats in order to influence the world of Chasing Thunder.

Bullfrogsong is one of the oldest and most well-respected Master Warriors in PrairieClan. Despite this, they are positive and full of energy, and refuse to let their age catch up to them. Their clanmates know them for how much they care about each member of the clan, and even the other two clans hold Bullfrogsong in high regard.

In their youth, they fell in love with a molly named Salmon leap. Some moons after becoming mates, they had a litter of two kits. When one of the kits quickly grew ill, Bullfrogsong went against clan tradition by naming her Littlekit before she passed. They became very close with their remaining kit, Lonekit.

Eight moons later, Salmonleap was killed when she left on a patrol to drive out coyotes that had been bothering PrairieClan. Bullfrogsong remained strong following their mates death, and the war that came only fourteen moons later. Now, Bullfrogsong tries their best to support their son Lonestar, and is close to both of their grandkits, Coyotepaw and Bisonpaw.

Bisonpaw is the child of Lonestar and Grasswind. Having still been young when their parents ended their relationship, they have little memory of Grasswind and Lonestar as mates. While the two toms raised their kits mutually, they disagreed on a lot of things and values to teach, possibly confusing the kits on who to listen to. Bisonpaw is certainly not as outgoing (or as smart) as their sibling, but is just as eager to learn and train. They hope to be a cat that will make their clan, and their parents, proud.

Bisonpaw was only just recently made an apprentice, but they’ve been working very diligently ever since, and plan to make a great first impression when they finally get to meet cats outside of their clan.

Coyotepaw is the child of Lonestar and Grasswind. Having still been young when their parents ended their relationship, they have little memory of Grasswind and Lonestar as mates. Coyotepaw has always been the more outgoing of the two kits, a headstrong young cat who wants to do things on their own terms as opposed to their more subdued sibling Bisonpaw.

Coyotepaw was only made an apprentice a few sunrises ago, and they are already insistent on proving their worth as a PrairieClan warrior. They have yet to meet the other two clans, but they are already prepared to unsheathe their claws at a moment’s notice.

Grasswind, having lost his parents to coyotes at a young age, clung to Lonestar growing up, the two toms becoming incredibly close.

Due to the nature of his parents' deaths, Grasswind trained hard to become an exceptional fighter, taking down a group of three invading rogues in his first year as a Journeyman Warrior. He was promoted to a Master Warrior earlier than most soon after.

Grasswind's fighting skills came in handy when the War between the clans and the Red Claw Gang began, him often being put on the front lines and battling more rogues than he could count. During the War, he and Lonestar became even closer, being each other's anchor in these difficult times.

Once the war was over, the two waited for things to settle down. Half a year after the end of the War and RustClan being brought into existence, Grasswind and Lonestar welcomed a litter of kits into the world - Bisonkit and Coyotekit. But their relationship began to deteriorate; Lonestar was, according to Grasswind, being too soft on RustClan, looking the other way about too many things, and the two officially broke up soon after the kits' birth.

Even now that Coyotepaw and Bisonpaw are out of the nursery, Grasswind has decided to stay and help raise new life as a Nurse instead of destroying it as a Warrior.

At the last full-moon Gathering, Lonestar led the cats of PrairieClan to an empty Gathering place. Figuring that DustyClan and RustClan were running late, they waited all night for their neighbors to arrive. When neither of their neighbors showed, the cats of PrairieClan grew increasingly restless, but they hoped that the two clans would show up at some point. It was during their waiting that the moon disappeared from the sky. It went black, as if it had not been there at all, before turning a brilliant blood red. PrairieClan grew scared and confused, and Lonestar called them home. It was clear that the Maker had sent a sign to them: the Gathering would not be happening that night. Now, PrairieClan grows anxious. Were DustyClan and RustClan too tired to go, or was this something more sinister? Some cats are afraid that their neighbors are baring their claws for war once again, while others turn their fear to the stars above. Will PrairieClan, too, be held fast by fear, or will they be able to hold themselves together and maintain the shaky peace that the clans have had for the last few seasons?
