Last episodes of RWBY for now. Its sad even though I know we will see it continue, it may never be the same. Thanks for all the good memories over the years. We’ll time to read the books, and watch RWBY X Justice League part 2 so I can at least watch the last animated stuff the team made.

This was everything. Yang being so kind and understanding and reaffirming that Ruby will never alone cause the team is always there. Ruby acknowledging that she's still bad at asking for help. Yang still being miffed about Tai (valid) and the code word....I cannot wait for V10

Latest episode of RWBY Beyond… Glad to see it was a lot more serious in tone, an also that Jaune is very clearly portrayed as very different now that he's been young, and old, and young again.

More hints of the Oscar/Ozpin merge coming very close to completion too. I think it'll be a big part of Volume 10.

Well the second RWBY Beyond was beautiful. I'm glad they're dealing with the consequences of Jaune's years in the Ever After.

Jaune: Do you... do you think we're gonna make it?

Oscar: Around that campfire, did it matter?

Anybody else feel like they're talking about the show?

Don’t think I didn’t notice that Oscar/Ozpin deflected that question about whether he thought they’d make it. They don’t really have hope anymore after fighting for so long. They just struggle because they have to, they can’t really give up even if they don’t believe in victory anymore.

And did they merge and he’s hiding it from everyone or was it just a momentary lapse? I am concerned.

Them Bois!!! So glad to see them talking and sharing their experiences!

I think they're really setting up an Oscar and Ozpin focused arc in the future (pardon my pun), where the merge will probably be stopped after coming very close to finalize. There's a sense of melancholic finality about Oscar but still both him and Ozpin are fighting to delay the process and their past and new friends (like Neptune and Sun in the past episode) keep differentiating between them, in a way helping them regain what sense of self they have left.

And it's really interesting to see Oscar as a part of JNPR but in a very special way. He feels like part of the team more than ever now, not entirely because of himself but not entirely because of Ozpin either. Wonder if the rest of RWBY beyond is gonna show us more interactions.

Also interesting how Oscar is adopting Ozpin's mannerism and speech. Does that mean that Ozpin, before the merge, didn't speak that way? It's an Oz thing, not an Ozpin thing? Mmmhhh.

Oscar: I've been the subject of a couple of fairy tales myself.

Jaune: You mean Ozpin has, right?

in the epilogue oscar's first shown struggling against the merge, with ozpin fighting against it too. by the end of it, when team rwby + jaune return, his expression tells that the fight is not going so well on that front.

in the first episode of beyond, sun and neptune keep calling him 'ozpin' and then correcting each other by saying 'oscar'.

in the second episode of beyond, the tone of his voice is different—one that you'd associate more with ozpin rather than oscar—and he talks about oz's life like it's his own—"i've been a subject of a couple of fairy tales myself."

and in my humblest of opinions, this should be illegal!! save him!!!

Oh no you think the merge actually did happen already? I thought perhaps it was just a moment of them forgetting and acting as one person, not that the merge had completed. I hope not. I hope poor Oscar gets to be his own person at the end of all this.

So, very interesting episode Firstly the lose end,Alex was from vacuo pre war as many suspected.

Then the merge of Oz and Oscar, many people will be scared by how "quickly" Oscar has merged but remember it has been a good few months by the time RWBY&J get back to vacuo and we don't know when this little chat is happening.

I wonder if Jaunes journal will become significant later, perhaps he'll get inspired by it and know how to trap Salem or something

But I am enjoying it, it brought a tear when JNPR where at that campfire and the art style is still amazing.

On the one hand I can see them wanting to save Ruby stuff for vol 10 since she is the main character, but on the other hand I’d love even just a little bit of how she’s doing. I’m surprised we’ve gotten to see Oscar so much in these beyond’s but technically Ren and Nora have also been in all them in a way too. And I agree those Oscar and Ruby would have a lot to talk about narratively, but maybe they are saving that for vol10? I feel like now that they had this convo with Oscar/Ozpin in this beyond that he won’t be featured on the other beyond’s, but who knows? I think they might end on a Ruby centric beyond as the last one if they are gonna do one. It would only make sense. Just a little bit of how is she dealing with her trauma in the Ever After with her sister/team, is she being looked at as like poster child for the resistance are people putting even more pressure on her, does she talk about identity issues with Oscar? Is she keeping her revelation about Raven and Summer to herself right now? How is she dealing with herring about Vale being gone? Is she worried about her father? A lot to cover for Ruby, and they can only do so much in a beyond episode.

...So...about the second episode of RWBY Beyond...

[SPOILERS AHEAD! NUFF SAID]

It skips over the return of RWBY and Jaune, reuniting with their comrades in Vacuo and getting to see everyone’s reactions to being reunited with their missing comrades after so long.

Alright. I guess they're saving that for V10 if it gets greenlit. Fair and fine.

That being said, it skips over the reunion to focus a whole episode on Jaune in the aftermath of the return from the Ever After?

...Huh?

I’m sorry. But for the sake of being that person, I’m gonna be that person.

Just to set the record straight, I don’t hate Jaune. I've never hated Jaune as a character. I have mostly had issues with the way the Writers just love to have Jaune’s development usurp others who deserve the screen time and focus more than him.

Personally, I do not care for Jaune’s development right now. Jaune’s whole experience in the Ever After, for me, did NOT need to be a focus episode for RWBY Beyond.

Especially since there are other characters who had more tragic experiences in the Ever After whose feelings I would’ve liked to see in the aftermath.

And by other characters, I mainly mean Ruby!

I do, however, love the detail of Oscar being someone that Jaune gets to talk to.

That was nice and I’m pleased to see that for a second time, Oscar is featured in RWBY Beyond. I actually hope that’s a thing for the final two episodes. I hope that Oscar appears in each episode of RWBY Beyond, even if he’s just in the background.

But going back to my original rant, Jaune is NOT the person I was itching to see Oscar talk to especially in respect to their experience in the Ever After.

If there is any body I wanted to see talk to Oscar, it’s RUBY ROSE! And no, this has nothing to do with Rosegarden or shipping potential at all. I’m talking about this from a narrative perspective.

Ruby’s whole arc in the Ever After was basically about life, death and rebirth in a sense. A complete deconstruction of her character, resulting in her committing the Ever After equivalent of “suicide” and be faced with an ultimatum of choosing to become someone else or be herself in which she chose herself.

Ruby lost herself in the Ever After for a moment. Oscar is on the cusp of losing himself at this moment.

Ruby saw Oscar “die” as part of an illusion that hinted at her being responsible for his death and/failing to save him just like she did with other friends like Penny.

Oscar is on the cusp of “dying” metaphorically right now.

YOU DON’T THINK THESE ARE TWO PEOPLE WHO DEFINTELY NEED TO TALK TO EACH OTHER?!!

C’MON CRWBY! IT'S FINE THAT JAUNE GETS TO TALK TO OSCAR BUT I NEED RUBY TO TALK TO OSCAR TOO!

And speaking of Oscar, don't think I didn't notice his little awkward cough and shifty eyes, immediately redirecting the conversation when Oscar made a point about being in similar situation to Jaune and Jaune be like "You mean Ozpin, right?" and Oscar be like "Aah yes, of course". Ya'll ain't slick dropping dem Merge crumbs! For what it's worth, I do hope an episode focus more on Oscar and Oz in the cards for the final two episodes.

Overall, this second episode of RWBY Beyond was alright. As was the first.

The artwork of RWBY Beyond is absolutely breathtaking to me and is easily my favourite part of watching the anthology. Inspite of the limited animation, the beautiful artwork more than makes up for it. I definitely wouldn’t mind an actual physical RWBY storybook anthology series done in this same art style.

Makes me wish that Fairytales of Remnant animated series was done in this exact same style instead of the awkward Camp Camp style that DID NOT feel like RWBY at all.

All in all, onward to the next episode of RB. Makes me wonder who will be the focus of the final two episodes.

Like which characters will be we get to have an episode about? Obviously, speaking for myself, I would love an Oscar-centric episode. I mean…he’s been in every episode thus far so it’d be nice to see on all about him for once.

Outside of Oscar, I wouldn’t mind an episode about the Schnee Family done from Whitley’s perspective? That’s also a good one to see.

And of course, if there is one person an episode needs to be done on, it has to be Ruby. I mean the Oscar and Whitley ones are probabilities but a Ruby-focus episode for RWBY Beyond has to be in the cards, right?

If they can touch base on Jaune’s feelings during the Aftermath of the Ever After then surely, they gotta talk about Ruby's whole experience with her literal death and rebirth, right? RIGHT?

I guess only time will tell. 2 Episodes down. 2 more to go so see ya’ll next week.

I still wonder if Ruby really knows it was Jaune who killed Penny and whether that will affect their friendship(even if Ruby knows it was Oenny who asked for it). I feel like during their argument in Vol 9 Ruby would have used it to hurt Jaune if she knew.

My analysis and theory for a possible arc for volume 10 of jaune

Good afternoon everyone, Just a warning, this post contains some spoilers.

Something that I analyzed with the episode is this issue of Jaune's time on the island and off it, and this issue of mentality divide and well the only thing that left him standing was his friends and the comfortable situation shown in the bonfire scene. In my view, Jaune is going through the ''spider man'' dilemma. He unintentionally achieved something that put a history in the world, a symbol for many people, but he also still feels confused because of the issue of becoming old and young again, Jaune He is no longer just a hunter, he is one of the historic figures in the RWBY universe.

Having him and Oscar talking about this is something very incredible to see because both characters are going through something similar.

That's why I theorize that if we had a volume 10 it could explore a lot of things but for me I hope it explores Jaune apologizing and renewing his friendship with Ruby, It's something that very well established in volume 9 explores Weiss and Jaune's relationship because they were both helping each other a lot during the screen time they both had, and there's also a very good analysis about the ship on tumblr that I recommend you all read too.

Jaune's short in RWBY Beyond. Miles kills it once again, the emotion in his voice was so raw.

Also HMMMM Ren, Nora and everyone know about Jaune being the rusted knight???? I reallllly hope that we get that reveal scene when we get volume 10.

Also Jaune quickly correcting Oscar about it being Oz who was the subject of fairytales. Guys the merge is imminent 👀 did you notice "Ozcar" tried to sound more like Oscar right after, when previously he had been sounding like Oz.

I'm also loving Ozcar and Jaune bonding in his way. Like what a wild set of circumstances that they kinda share. What a weird thing to have happened twice lol

Talking to Oscar because he's the only one that can relate to not knowing if he's who he is now or the old man he used to be 🥺

"You mean Ozpin, right?" JUST SHOOT ME IN THE FACE

When he was talking about the campfires reminding him of how things used to be and then PYRRHA SHOWING UP?!?! OUCH!

Getting to see and hear my little guy Oscar talk made me so happy but he's taking on more of that measured, calm and quiet way of speaking Oz had and I'm sad. I know they're both actively fighting the merge but it seems like the merge is fighting back?

I'm really glad they took the time to talk about Jaune's struggle with his identity, because it feels real. He wouldn't just go back to normal after being a literal fairytale legend.

The little glimpses of Ren and Nora, they look so happy to have him back, even if they're still dealing with their whole thing

I'm definitely biased because Jaune is my favorite character, especially after V9, but I think I liked this episode more than the last one. Junior Detectives was sweet and funny, this one was more bittersweet. Jaune and Oscar my favorite adoptive brothers.

I'm so excited for next week, but I'm also anxious because if it's anything like this one, I might cry
