I bought all three sizes of Toto's TOF2023 mascot shirt in case anyone wanted size comparisons. I got it around the time the second wave of merch was selling, but by the time my merch reached me, all the TOF2023 merch wasn't for sale anymore hahaha

But now the shirt's on sale again apparently... Cool! If it's time-limited, I wish they'd say when the sales will close, though

The lil mascot charms in the merch set are supposed to be bought with a commemorative character keychain. They were designed to go together, but since there weren't any commemorative keychains for Luminaria characters, I didn't buy any of those keychains

I also don't have a Yelsy keychain (yet!) so I'll have Toto's charm accompany Leo's keychain for now! And well, since I have more Toto merch in general, I wanted to stick them around the only piece of Yelsy merch I have too

My second set of merch arrived a long time ago, but I've been feeling burnt out lately, so it took this long to finally upload it all...

It's supposed to say "Flake Seal" because it's a set of stickers, but I got a "Freak Seal" typo instead. I wonder if other fans got the same typo too? The new Toto badge really does squish! It might be one of my favorite badges!

When I posted the first fic, the pairing tag didn't even exist. And now, a year and a month later, there are four fics. Four! I realize that by Destiel standards that's not a whole lot, but there are four more than there used to be (in a fandom that's been around for a couple of decades now) and I feel kinda like a proud parent to the baby rarepair.

I wish it did, because while I know that kudos don't involve reciprocal engagement, stuff like likes and kudos can still be used by a stalker to remind you of their presence, like "i'm still here, checking on your stuff," and in one of my fandoms there is a person who has been using ao3 to badger people who've blocked her on other sites who leaves kudoses like that

Anyway, my official Talesfes 2023 Luminaria title merch and Toto mascot merch arrived a long time ago, but I finally got some time to upload all the close-ups of it today!

All of this merch was offered during two pre-order periods on asobistore and it was on sale at the physical Talesfes 2023 venue. Excluding the official Talesfes 2023 T-shirt (the one with all the titles on it), all of the merch featured in this post is currently on sale again!

Check out this previous post for how to buy them if you're an overseas fan and for links to the merch available. The merch will ship within 7-20 business days of your order (and they'll go to the JP warehouse first).

Oh yeah, I learned that if you buy merch in bulk like I do, then using the "add to Buyee" extension and using Buyee is cheaper! If you only buy 1-2 pieces of merch, then using Zenmarket is cheaper!

I have a couple of updates from Sekina Aoi, one of the scenario writers for Tales of Luminaria! As always, please take my translating abilities with a grain of salt...

...and your mileage may vary on how much of this information would be considered a...spoiler...? That doesn’t feel like the right word... Well, Aoi talks a lot about Luminaria and Leo and Michelle, so please read at your own discretion.

On June 12, 2023, he wrote a blog post here about why he decided to make a twitter account.

It sounded like he still prefers to use his blog for updates and announcements, but he was concerned that he was inconveniencing the people involved in his works and his readers. He mentions how, when Luminaria was still online, he would tell his readers to check the official twitter for details on his blog, but if he had a twitter, then he could’ve just retweeted the official news. He also talks about how people go out of their way to quote his blog on twitter, and he apologized for the trouble he must’ve put them through.

In my personal opinion, I think it’s best that he uses what he’s comfortable with, but I believe his fans are happy to have another way to see announcements on his works. I also think the timing is rather unfortunate since twitter has just been straight-up decaying lately, but there’s not really much we can do about that...

Sekina Aoi’s first thread about Luminaria since he joined Twitter

On the “anniversary” of Luminaria’s EoS, Aoi wrote a 10 tweet long thread about Luminaria here. I’m not at all confident I fully understand what he wrote, and I will not attempt to translate something this heavy. I know it sucks, but you’re gonna have to log in to twitter if you’re interested in what he has to say because I think it’s best to take a look at something like this for yourself and take machine translations with a grain of salt.

What I generally understand is that he thanks the fans for continuing to talk about Luminaria even now, he talks about what details he feels he can divulge about the scenario, talks heavily about Leo, how he regrets that he couldn’t get to the “core (?)” of Leo’s character in the story, how there’s a lot of “three-way” relationships in Luminaria, and how he personally thinks Leo, August, and Michelle also have this “three-way” relationship.

Aoi really put a lot of thought into Luminaria’s story and Leo as a character.

...I can only do what I can as a fan and continue supporting Luminaria by writing posts like this and buying merch. I can only hope that some day it’ll be enough so that the scenario writers can give Luminaria’s story a proper conclusion one day.

yo i really gotta thank you for ur dedication in archiviing tales of luminaria i just found out about the game n its cancelation n it looked like it was fun i was pleasantly surprised that it was a gacha game with all characters unlocked n that the gacha was instead for outfits something see more like how rhythm games do their gacha instead, anyways thank you!!

Awww, that's so sweet of you to say! I'm pretty surprised to hear that you only found out about the game last month because I don't think that many people on the EN side talk about Luminaria frequently enough for someone to stumble on it by chance...

But it makes me really happy to hear that you thought it looked fun! I think the producer of this game and the dev team would love to hear a comment like that too

I wish Tales of the Rays still had a global version because it's also a game where you roll for weapons and outfits instead of characters. I think you would've liked that one a lot too!
