And that's a wrap!
I'd like to thanks Dani @lovealexhunt for trusting me and for the opportunity of hosting the event in December, THANK YOU! I really enjoyed it! The only thing that makes me sad is that I couldn't submit something for the event and the prompts I listed. The job came in the way. It was a crazy month. The wettest December in the last 33 years in my state. And the south region suffered with floods, and of course along with it came the diseases ( as if COVID it is not already bad enough) and the lab where I work is responsible for the sample processing and releasing results... anyway... The event was most of the time the highlight of my days.
So: THANK YOU to all of you who followed and shared the blog, and mainly to everyone who created for the event, as @choicesfanaf, @jerzwriter, @julia-highstorms, @liaromancewriter, @lorirwritesfanfic, @missameliep, @starfurylord, @storyofmychoices , @theartoflovingthomashunt, @they-call-me-princess , you guys rock!
Don't forget to follow @choicesmonthlychallenge for the next events!
XOXO,
Tammy

A Reminder
[All Thomas Hunt x Alex Spencer Masterlists] [Red Carpet Diaries]
Characters: Thomas Hunt x Alex Spencer (OC) Book: Red Carpet Diaries; Book 3 Word Count/Rating: <500 ; Fluff Prompts: @choicesdecemberchallenge2021 : words
Synopsis: Thomas has a surprise for Alex to encourage her on the difficult days and remind her how strong she is.
Tumblr media
Alex sighed, tossing her keys on the table. It had been another long day on set. Every time the film seemed to be moving forward, their progress was halted. It was as if the universe was fighting against them.
She dragged herself to her office, dropping off a stack of notes and script revisions she had to review before the morning set call. She massaged the bridge of her nose, trying to work up the energy to tackle the task tonight. As she opened her eyes to face what awaited her, she noticed a note atop a wrapped package.
My beloved Alex,
I know things have not been easy as of late. However, know I am proud of what you've accomplished. Art is created one painstaking brushstroke—or in our case, take—at a time. It is not simple, yet you have persevered and grown into a more talented woman than I ever could have imagined.
Good days will come again, as will more challenging ones. These hard days help you grow. They serve to show you the strength you already carry within you and remind you how very capable you are.
When you feel your strength wavering, I hope this can serve as a reminder of how far you've come and how far this life will take you. You are stronger than any challenge or obstacle that may come your way. You are more than you can imagine.
It is my privilege to share this life with you. May your dreams always carry you ever forward.
Faithfully yours,
Thomas
Carefully, Alex removed the twine and simple brown wrapping on the package that accompanied the letter. A Post-It on the picture frame she unwrapped caught her attention.
PS—You can thank your mother for entrusting me with these. She always believed in you, as I do, also.
Her fingers slid across the cool glass of a picture frame, tracing the imperfect lines of her childhood drawing of Ninradell. Surrounding the drawing were other doodles and illustrations Alex had done as a child, an image of the original book cover, and a note of encouragement from the book's author, Marianne D'Arneaux.
The image began to blur as her eyes swelled with tears.
If only she could tell that ten-year-old girl all the joy her future would bring. She had no idea then the future that awaited her.
She sniffled back her tears, taking a deep breath. No matter what challenges the production brought, she knew she could face them. That little girl who drew this and played pretend, bringing this story to life, was counting on her. She didn't know then what she could be, but now, she would overcome every obstacle to make her childhood dream a reality.
Her fingers meandered across her cheeks, collecting the fallen tears as she reread Thomas's words, holding them close to her heart. Come what may, she would carry on, for she knew she was stronger than the challenges that awaited her.
Tumblr media
A/N: Thanks for reading. I know Thomas is no longer a popular character and few people still read him so if you got this far, I can't even express how much that means to me. Thomas and Alex mean the world to me so your support is everything.

A Wish For Christmas (And All The Other Days)
Author’s note: I’m dedicating this to my dear friend @missameliep. Dani, thank you so much for sharing your wonderful stories, for all your support to my writing, for all the fun conversations, for the lovely gift (I was so not expecting it and I love it dearly), but mostly for being you. I hope you like your belated gift. Happy new year! [Original characters are creations of this author. The others are owned by Pixelberry Studios] Book: Desire & Decorum (modern day AU) Pairing: Prince Hamid x MC (Daphne) Rating: T Word count: 2897 Reading time: ~12min Summary: Christmas is no longer the same for Daphne without Hamid. Based on the prompt: @choicesdecemberchallenge2021 day nineteen: surprise visit
Tumblr media
Edgewater, December 24th 2021
A lively Christmas carol played in the background as Daphne walked into the lounge with Briar carrying trays with hot chocolate, mulled wine cups and biscuits, offering them to the guests. With the holidays, the Foredales were short on staff. But, luckily, they could always count on their closest friends to host small and delectable suppers after church services.
Once everyone was served, the viscountess grabbed her own cup of hot chocolate and sat on a quieter corner next to a window where her pets slept soundly. These small gatherings were great opportunities to stay close to friends, but still have a moment by herself to watch the snow that began to fall.
Applause filled the room as White Christmas came to an end and Annabelle bowed her head in gratitude.
“Well done, Miss Parsons!” Mrs. Daly praised.
“Yes, it was lovely, Annabelle. Thank you for gracing us with your talents,” Earl Vincent complimented with a warm smile.
“Thank you,” Annabelle nodded.
“Annabelle has played beautifully ever since she was just a little girl, always so prim and proper,” Lady Dominique added.
“Is that so?” Veronica grinned and sat next to her girlfriend. “Does anyone have pictures?”

Maybe Next Year?
Tumblr media
Book: Open Heart (Book 1)
Pairing: Ethan Ramsey x MC (Casey MacTavish)
Rating: Teen
Category: Angsty Fluff? Fluffy Angst?
Summary: It’s New Year’s Eve during Casey’s intern year, and she’s shocked to have the night off, but will she get to spend it the way she hoped to?
Warnings: None
A/N: This is part of my HC for Ethan x Casey during her intern year. After she planned several little treats for him on his birthday in November (here), shared a special moment on Thanksgiving (here), and had a very unexpected Christmas celebration (here), her hopes were high for tonight. They both wanted the same thing, but…. In my HC, this takes place about a month before Miami.
A/N 2: Also participating in the @choicesdecemberchallenge2021 Day 31: New Year.
A/N 3: Oofh. I hadn't edited an earlier version, I hope you're not reading that one. :) Apologies.

Casey stood in the bathroom, her face already done for the workday, but that wasn’t her concern. She was an intern, yet, somehow, she scored the night off of work! A few of her friends had too, and even though she had yet to commit to any plans, she was so excited.
Knock. Knock. Knock.
“Hey, Casey, the rest of us need to get ready too!” Elijah yelled.
“Oh, sure! I’ll be right out!”
She pulled the hair tie out, and her blonde curls fell back down around her shoulders. Tonight would have to be improvised, and that was fine.
She was tying her shoes on the edge of the bed when Sienna walked in.
“Hey, do you have an extra lanyard by any chance? Mine just broke.”
“Sure, there is an extra one on top of my dresser. Take that.”
Sienna’s eyes shifted to the midnight blue beaded dress hanging on the back of Casey’s door.
“Wow! You only found out you had New Year’s Eve off two days ago! When did you have time to go and buy this?”
“Oh, that. I didn’t. I found that at a big sale last summer, I knew I’d eventually have a chance to wear it, so I bought it.”
“Holy cow, and is tonight the night?”
Casey walked over to the door and touched the beautiful frock, her fingers trailing over the intricate beading on the torso. It would be nice to have someplace this special to go. A fancy party where she would walk in and heads would turn her way from every corner of the room, but there would only be one set of eyes that mattered to her, and they’d belong to…. No. She stopped herself; she couldn’t even bring herself to think it.
“No. This dress is far too formal for anything I might end up doing tonight. I’m just fantasizing about New Year’s Eve in the future.” She placed the gown back in her closet and retrieving a little black dress in its place. “I think this old guy here would better serve my needs this evening.”
“Well, that will do the job nicely too!”
“And what job is that?”
“A midnight kiss, of course. It is New Year’s Eve!”
“Yeah, well, I don’t have anyone lined up for that.”
“Yet. Put that dress and those heels on, and I bet that will change fast.”
Casey chuckled. “I don’t even have definitive plans, and I figured I’d just bring the dress with me to the hospital, and I can change if a decent offer arises. If not, there is always the bottle of champagne in the fridge and our comfy couch.”
“Well, I’m sure you can do much better than that, Casey!”
“We’ll see what happens.”
_______________
She didn’t see Ethan until her shift was nearly halfway over. He was heatedly discussing a patient with another physician when she locked eyes with him. She may have been imagining things, but it seemed like he froze when he saw her approach. But that was silly. They had to meet up to discuss Naveen today. That was likely the only reason for his reaction…or was it? She thought about the dress she decided to leave back home, not just the evening gown, but the simple black one, too. She told herself it was silly to bring it all without any set plans, but deep down, she was hoping for a different offer. It happened on Christmas, after all.
She never dreamed that she would have been spending Christmas evening with Ethan Ramsey. But when they both ended up alone at Donahue’s, she was all too happy to accept his offer. She marveled over how he prepared such a delicious dinner with such short notice. It was better than anything she could have done with triple the time. It was awkward at first, but then the conversation flowed. It hadn’t been limited to Naveen or hospital business. She shared her career aspirations with him and explained how she decided to pursue medicine. He poured them each another glass of wine, and their anecdotes became more clever, their laughter more relaxed, and there was a sparkle in his eye that she had never seen before. She convinced herself that it was just wine. After all, he was Dr. Ethan Ramsey, and she was just an intern. His intern. She needed to stop being so delusional.
Yet she still found herself hoping that she’d share New Year’s Eve with him. Not at some fancy party, of course, but maybe over a bottle of wine at his place again. Even with Naveen in his room, the three of them together. Really, there was no place else she would rather be, which is why she had yet to accept any other invite. But, as the hours marched closer to midnight, she started to worry that midnight would be spent on her couch alone.
Casey wasn’t wrong. Ethan completely froze when he saw her, and the other doctor took note. He wrapped the conversation up quickly just so he could follow after her. He was aware of the gravitational pull toward Casey from the very day he met her, even if he denied it wholeheartedly. But after his birthday, then Christmas, it was becoming increasingly difficult for him to lie to himself. When she reached the end of the hallway and was no longer in his view, he slowly let out a breath he didn’t realize he was holding. This had to stop. It wasn’t bad enough that he purchased an expensive Christmas gift for Casey; but, that led him to buy gifts for each intern, just to cover up the fact that he bought one for Casey. Who was he? Ethan Ramsey… buying gifts? For interns? He had taken leave of his senses, and it had to stop. He knew it. So, then why couldn't he bring himself to do it.
Ethan asked her to stop by his office before the end of her shift, and Casey allowed herself to get her hopes up. They hadn’t discussed Naveen all day, so there was a practical reason for the invite; but, sometimes hope springs eternal. She already told Jackie, Elijah, and Bryce that she was a “definite maybe” for Donahue’s, but she was hoping she could change that response to a no before she left his office. She took a deep breath and knocked on the door.
“Come in!” he yelled.
“Hi, Dr. Ramsey, you wanted to see…oh!”
“What’s the matter,” he chuckled, “you’ve never seen a man in a tuxedo before.”
Not this man! She thought.
“Of course I have. I’m just not used to seeing you in one… at the hospital, no less. I… I take it you have plans tonight?”
He dropped his pen to the desk and rubbed his brow. “Yes, yes I do. While a lovely cognac in front of my fireplace sounds ideal, I promised Dr. Banjeri that I’d go to an insipid board member’s party in his place. He feels it is good to have eyes and ears there.”
“Of course,” she grinned slyly, “he wants the gossip.”
“You’re not wrong! What about you? Do you have plans this evening?”
She felt her stomach flutter as she stumbled to find her words. Disappointment punctuated her features as she realized her desired plans would not be happening.
“Oh, uh… no. Nothing definitive. I mean, I didn’t even know I was going to be off until two days ago.”
“Mmm,” he smiled, “well, I figured you deserved the time off.”
“Wait? Are you so saying you arranged for me to be off?”
“I am saying you deserved the time off,” he smirked, neither confirming nor denying. “But I had hoped you would make better use of your time, if you are going to just sit around, then….”
A loud knock stopped him in his tracks. “Come in!”
“Oh, Ethan, I’m sorry to bother you, I can come back….”
“No, no. It’s fine. We’re almost done. Dr. MacTavish, this is Isabel Mendoza. Isabel, Dr. MacTavish.”
“It’s a pleasure to meet you,” Isabel smiled, extending her hand.
“Hi, I’ve seen you around, you’re….”
“I’m the hospital’s Communications Director.”
“Oh, yes!” Casey said, trying not to stare. Isabel was… perfect. Statuesque and elegant, her sea-green eyes sparkled against her olive skin. Her silky, jet-black waves that spilled over her shoulders and down the length of her back bounced with each move she made. It would be easy to mistake her for a model. Casey was quite sure she’d have a career there if the communications thing didn’t work out for her. “It’s lovely to meet you.”
“Likewise. Ethan, what are you doing dressed already? I thought we were leaving at 8:00?”
“We are. But I have a call scheduled after I wrap things up with Dr. MacTavish, so I got dressed beforehand. The plan still remains the same.”
“Very well,” she winked, “and I better go up my game. I didn’t think this was that fancy. I’ll see you at 8:00.” She smiled and turned to Casey. "I'll see you around."
“Uh, yes.”
Casey swallowed and avoided looking at Ethan after Isabel left the room; she was sure she’d see how crestfallen she was, and she already felt foolish enough.
“So, uh… I guess Isabel is joining you at the party.”
“Yes. It was a plus one… and she and I….”
“Oh, there is no need to explain,” Casey smiled, attempting to act like the air had not just been knocked out of her lungs. “Your plans this evening, they’re really none of my concern.”
Ethan studied her, hoping to see something that indicated that she felt the same way as he did. But her smile was so sincere, he could only assume he was wrong. He was going to ask what her plans were but didn’t trust himself to say it in a way that would not appear that he was asking for the very reasons he was… he was envious. So he refrained from asking at all, which only led her to believe he didn’t care. They wrapped up their discussion about Naveen, and she stood to leave his office as if it were any other day.
Casey noticed the hall was eerily quiet, so she allowed herself to stop, and she let out the jagged breath she had been holding in. She was that stupid.
“Hey!" A boisterous voice interrupted her thoughts. “What are you doing here? Aren’t you off?”
“Oh, I am. As of ten minutes ago, actually.”
Bryce opened the bottle of water he was holding and drank it all in a gulp.
“Jesus, Lahela. I hope you don’t go that fast on the champagne tonight,” she smiled.
“Well, you’ll find out later,” he winked. “You are coming to Donahue’s, right?”
“Well, I was, but I….”
“Do you have a date?”
“A date? No. No. I don’t.”
“OK, well we said if you didn’t have a date, and I didn’t have a date… which, shockingly I don’t… we’d spend New Year’s together, so… you game?” he asked, wiggling his eyebrows.
Casey laughed melodiously, “You are such a jerk.”
“But a handsome one, who is a lot of fun at parties, so, what do you say, Casey?”
“Well, I’d love to, but I didn’t bring a change of clothes, and I’d have to run all the way home. So I…”
“Luckily for you, I brought the bag you left behind,” Sienna grinned, joining their conversation. “Your gorgeous black dress, those sexy heels, all in my locker MacTavish.”
“Well, then, I guess it’s a date.”
A half-hour later, Casey sat in a chair in an inconspicuous corner of the lobby, hoping to avoid everyone… especially Ethan… until Bryce arrived. She looked beautiful in a form-fitted, off-the-shoulder black velvet dress, her blonde tendrils piled at the crown of her head and a luscious red matte on her lips. But as her eyes darted across the expansive lobby, she saw Isabel exiting the elevator, and she was exquisite. Her glittering gown made the blue one Casey had tucked in her closet look downright frumpy. The jewels hanging from her ears were stunning but could not hold a match the light shining in her eyes. She suddenly felt very… inadequate. But it was too late for her to cancel plans and go home.
“Casey,” a voice called out. She looked up to see Ethan standing above her.
“Oh, Dr. Ramsey,” she said, standing up and adjusting her dress. “Are you looking for…”
“You look… you look….”
“She looks gorgeous!” Bryce’s smile lit up the lobby as he approached and wrapped his arm around her. “Who has the best looking date in Boston tonight?”
“Me?” Casey answered sarcastically.
“Normally I’d say yes, but tonight…. you get the win, Case!”
“Oh, you’re going out tonight….” Ethan stammered.
“Just to Donahue’s.”
“Where I will be the most envied man of the evening. Hey, I just have to grab something from my locker. I’ll be ready to go in five?”
“You got it!” Casey answered, her face flushed pink.
“So, you and Bryce are….”
“Oh, no… we are….”
“There you are!” Isabel said, touching Ethan’s elbow. “I thought you forgot about me?”
“Of course not.”
“Dr. MacTavish….”
“OH, we’re off the clock. Call me Casey, please.”
“Well, no matter what I call you, you look simply stunning this evening. You will have to show me how to do my lips like that.”
“Well, thank you, but… you look just… well, you don’t need my tips at all. You two, I don’t think there could be a more gorgeous couple.”
“Well, we’re….” Isabel started.
“Did you forget about us?” Lahela laughed, slinking up behind her.
Ethan looked at his phone, “Well, it looks like our car has arrived. Are you ready, Isabel?”
“Oh, I just wanted to get a pack of gum in the gift shop. Can you….”
“I’ll be waiting for you out front.”
“Thank you. It was so nice seeing you, Casey, and….”
“Bryce.”
“Bryce. Have a very Happy New Year!”
“You too!”
“Well, I uh….” Ethan stammered.
“Yeah, we should head over too. Ready Case?”
Bryce offered his arm and she took it demurely.
"Uh, yeah. Happy New Year, Dr. Ramsey.”
His eyes lingered on hers, even as she began to walk away and the scent of the perfume he gifted her on Christmas lingered in the air.
“Happy New Year, Casey.”
Ethan turned and looked around the lobby to ensure no one saw him starting as she walked away. When he saw he was in the clear, his eyes were immediately on her again, just as she reached the door. Their eyes locked as she took one look back over her shoulder. Rather than look away, she smiled and waved. Mouthing “Goodbye, Ethan.”
He lifted his hand and waved, a sad smile on his lips. “Goodbye, Casey.”
He stood tall. He had done the right thing. This was necessary. He did the right thing… or at least that is what he kept repeating.
“Hey, I thought you were going out to get the car?”
“Oh, Jesus! The car!”
“Ethan,” Isabel laughed with a raised brow. “What has you so distracted?”
“Me? Oh, nothing, I….”
“Relax,” she whispered, tugging on his jacket sleeve. “You’re secret is safe with me. Besides, Daniel would kill me if he thought I was giving you grief. I swear, he loves you more than he loves me.”
“Doubtful, Isabel. Doubtful. When will he be home from this stint?”
“Who knows, whenever the WHO tells him he can be,” she shrugged. “But, I promised my husband, no moping around on New Year’s Eve, and I intend to keep my promise to him. So, what do you say I call an Uber this time… then we’re off for all the free food and booze we can get.”
“Hmm. May as well because, present company excluded, everyone we will be surrounded with tonight will be an obnoxious boor.”
“Well,” she smiled, taking his arm, “then maybe we should cut out early and go to Donahue’s.”

“This -- this is what you got me, Rookie?”
Ethan stared at the framed poster of a popular meme. It was meant to be a gag gift and yes, Kate had a sick sense of humour. Sitting in the Edenbrook lobby; a day after Christmas; she saw as Ethan struggled to handle the humour and the sick reality behind closed doors. Medicine as an industry was ever growing and they were naught but primitive cavemen doing primitive things, with Panacea growing as they spoke.

But Kate loved a good joke and with the ongoing trend of people boxing their jobs in six columns and trying to humour themselves with its logistics and how simple it was. Sure, Kate could definitely vouch for it being “simple”, if it meant four years being broke and studying in college and not having time to save up for med school - only to take two years off to pay debts, get a local job at a coffee shop and scavenge the internet for government programs or anything, that might help her- only to start med school late and reach her thirties by the end of the ordeal.
And the other interns had the audacity to look at her and call her old. Rookies. She snorted.
“This is -- definitely a wanted gift.” Ethan chuckled. “Where on earth did you get this?”
“The internet can surprise you if you got into social media--”
“Absolutely not. They corrupted you and they will not get to me.”
“They haven’t corrupted me!” Kate protested. “If only, I got into several medical communities. A lot of people regret that they couldn’t pay their loans on time and had to drop out to fulfill such financial obligations. And it feels so -- welcoming, you know? Like I’m not alone out there. I didn’t go through Ivy League schools and stuff to get here and frankly, the process feels more fulfilling than the end result. Paying off my loans and taking those two years off felt like a dream come true to keep my sanity back on track.”
“You never told me.”
“I didn’t think I should.” Kate shrugged. “I’m here. Why look back?”
“Good point.”
Ethan laughed once more, glancing at the cold dead eyes of the stock footage man who looked as if he was deep in thought. Before he could fully comprehend what he was doing, he grabbed Kate’s hand and gave it a slight squeeze. Kate returned a small smile, assuring herself that she was not alone either. In a world full of experts, she was another speck in that pool. And she was glad to have earned her speck by hook and crook methods. Those two years were hard.
She was lagging behind; her friends had already been shipped off to their new hospitals and she had felt so alone and weak. But by building up small bouts of strength from the ground up, knowing that one day she could become the best doctor she wanted to be - she'd prepared. She'd run the distance and came home, panting and puffing but every puff was worth the short walks from her penthouse apartment she lovingly shared with her friends and the Edenbrook diagnostics laboratory.
“I was -- in your place once.” Ethan said. “It never gets easier.”
“No, it doesn’t. But I thought you had it easy. Wrote a book and all by your -- what, intern year? Twenty nine? Thirty?”
Her grip never left his hands.
“I was fortunate to have gotten into a good hospital that expected only the best from me. And having Naveen as a mentor only helped me further my boundaries and try my best.” Ethan said. “I wish I could be the same to everyone else, but I’ve realised I’m not a good teacher.”
“And why’s that? You’ve done great things for the interns and made themselves feel more confident in their cases. You made me feel better about skipping two years of school.”
“Well, mission accomplished then.” he laughed, but there was a serious undertone in his speech. “But no. A good teacher learns and knows certain aspects of teaching to instill good values. A coward like me who -- who could just give his license up and ID just to feel sorry for himself -- is not a good teacher.”
“Fair point.”
Ethan’s eyes widened. Kate merely chuckled. She loved how he was used to blatant praise from his book and earning renowned titles at a young, impressionable age made him hold a thin skin against everyone. It especially was the hardest to confess, since Kate only wanted the best for him. They’d known each other for months to feel comfortable talking about details that only true friends could.
“You can learn.” she offered. “It’s not too late. Naveen’s a great teacher and so are you, if you put your mind to it. It’s time we both move on from our regrets. Running away from problems is another learning experience. Who knows? Maybe Dr. Banerji faced crises like that before. And maybe that led to him learning and being open minded about things. The medical field is hard to control. We cure and prevent things, but we can’t control them.”
“True.”
“So -- why bother, anyway? Why bother feeling bad, when you do get something out of it?”
Ethan wanted to kiss Kate rightaway. Her constructive approach and understanding were far greater than any outward appearance tools she used to decorate her physical features. But he couldn’t. He gripped the frame until his fingers turned white, wanting to treasure it for life, if he could. The meme was acknowledging all the turmoil they’d gone through.
People had pictured him as an elite medical hero, when in reality, he was another speck to add to the bunch. If only he wasn’t presented with opportunities from the start, he wouldn’t have gotten through a mountain of workload. His heart ached for Kate and the things she must have faced. It hit closer to home.
Dealing with his father’s anxiety and his estranged family atop studying hard for medical school and getting the best grades put so much pressure on him to do well- only to have been for nothing when he’d callously tossed his Edenbrook badge a year or so ago, when he found himself cornered - searching for a cure for Dr Banerji’s illness. It made him insignificant, shattering all the myths he was drilled into about the welcoming world of medicine.
“You’d make a better teacher.” he smiled.
“Nah.” Kate shrugged. “I’m just telling you what you need to hear.”
“You should -- erm -- help me more often. In -- times like these.” Ethan nodded curtly.
“Don’t worry. I’ll frame a thousand more memes if I have to. Just for you.”
Ethan felt so special talking to Kate. It was as if she’d do anything for him- even punch Declan Nash in the face. He felt so warm and welcome inside that it was hard to resist displaying his affections for her. He tried to control it to his best, but it clogged itself in his chest like a very persuasive parasite that wanted to test the waters and “see if” Kate wanted and or reciprocated the same. She’d never. A smart, intelligent, noble and wonderful being as Kate didn’t deserve him. No.
She was far better on her own.
But something in Ethan compared their compatibility only to achieve positive results. He wanted this. He loved her for her mind and her endurance and everything that comprised her loving personality.
“Kate--” he started.
“-- and there’s also this other meme I found. You’ll love it.” she finished. “What? What’s wrong?”
“No-- nothing is.” he smiled, weakly.
“Well, man up, Ethan Ramsey.” Kate punched his arm gently, to which he recoiled with a pitiful “ouch!”. She continued, “You cannot feel sorry for yourself, understand? It’s just a pain to live with. You’re a wonderful doctor and a brilliant writer, by how easy-to-understand your conceptual grasp is. And you have a lot to learn and a lot to teach. Hang in there, okay?”
“I will.” he couldn’t suppress his smile.
“Great. Now I’m off.” Kate grabbed her coat. “Sorry your present was a day late. I couldn’t find a proper guy who could frame it and he delayed at the last moment.”
“That’s perfectly okay.”
“-- So -- erm -- see you tomorrow?”
Ethan nodded, with a straight grin. “See you tomorrow, Rookie.”
